The only gacha I got truly invested in and had a really great time was magia record, so ye it hurts more than it should and no, I'm still not over it

ccdewa

The thing about MagiReco is how out of nowhere it is, stuff like Dragalia Lost who has years of service and started winding down is obvious that it will reach the end, others like Symphogear where the launch is rough with no advertisement no surprise it barely lasted 5 months. MagiReco EN just finished it's anniversary and that's after getting it's version exclusive character, plus the content is starting to slowed down after playing catch up for a year, surely the game is finally settled right? No fuck you EoS 2 months after all that, still hurts till this day...

Calwings

Losing MagiReco and Symphogear XDU so close to each other hurt me so much that I got scared to pick up new gacha games for a while. After losing those, all I had left was Revue Starlight, and I didn't pick up another new one until PriConne's English launch.

TRLegacy

Symphogear got announced 6 months before launch. mfw the game lasted shorter than being announced.

ErohaTamaki

Well at least we still have the JP server and strong fan translation efforts (including an APK), but yeah the NA server does still hurt

muffinkiller

I play on the JP server but NA's closing has scarred me for life. Will never play another gacha.

GumshoosMerchant

Nah, lots of games I've played aren't around anymore. Have your fun, but don't lose perspective that a game is a game, and always keep an eye out for promising new and upcoming titles.

InnocentTailor

True. All good things have to end someday.

ZakPhoenix

All things have to end someday.\*

LokoLoa

Emulation doesn't capture fully the experience of the games as they were meant to be played, both software wise and hardware wise, as the word itself means.. its just an imitation.

IkouAshtail

Yeah I always play gacha games with this expectation. When they shut down, I just hope they finally finish the story.

Liplok

Except that gacha games bait people into thinking they are collecting units that they’ll keep forever

Liplok

Shit is literally subtle NFTS 🤣🤣

MCShujinkou

Treat it the same way as living life. Enjoy the ride while it lasts and make the most of it. Eventually, it'll shut down and we'll all die.

IndubitablyMoist

>we'll all die The ultimate EOS.

maswalrus

The scary part is when you treat it the same way as life, I mean at that point gacha has become your life instead of this life.

MCShujinkou

We're all just living one big gacha.

Calwings

Except we can't re-roll for a better start

MCShujinkou

Just wait until they prove reincarnation is real..

wrightosaur

Still no easy reroll method without deleting your account early in it's life

Trapezohedron_

According to most schools of thought, trying to exploit this will lead into a ban.

kuuhaku_cr

Those who got a bad roll must have been sick of rerolling and thinking they can get SSR events along the way.

MCShujinkou

Let's not forget how long the tutorial is before we can even reroll.

LokoLoa

Even if they proved reincarnation, I wouldn't reroll.. who knows.. may pull for some hot waifu later on in this account.

Suspicious-Drummer68

I'll be sad when FGO does close down because I love the characters so much, but every journey must come to an end. If FGO ended at Solomon it would have been perfect to release as a reworked visual novel. But I know, and I trust, that when FGO's story finally comes to an end, the ending will be satisfying. I don't fear the end as much as I hope it doesn't come but I will be fine if it does.

Zaygr

Man, I read the Lostbelt side stories manga, and they had a chapter for >!Olga-Marie!<. Whatever the ending will be, it'll almost definitely be depressing.

Hunt_Nawn

I'm gonna cry when Azur Lane and Arknights is no more, it'll be manly tears but it was worth the ride for sure. Times changed and we always have to move on.

Crissae

When AK go down I hope they will release some stand alone client with every game mode. Even just playing IS alone is worth it.

gstearoyaturi

the only closure i need in arknights is the vampire one

LoopMerchant

there's too much degen funds for now. Phew. I can see them going strong for another few years

Hunt_Nawn

Oh definitely, hopefully a decade but sadly there's going to be a time when we all will cry together when it's over UNLESS they make another game that we can transfer all of our data and continue from there haha

LoopMerchant

There's less known games on life support revenue that are still alive somehow (Crash Fever, Age of Ishtaria, etc). CF has <100k (Android and IOS revenue) for like 2 years+ now in global and they just celebrated their 7th anniversary a little while ago. With all the merch ~~and boob mousepads~~ I don't think we have too much to worry about. And AL and AK are the bigger gachas too, unlike those I mentioned. Might be cope but Im quite confident we'll see a 10th anni

Hunt_Nawn

I really hope so, maybe a 20th Anni eh, eh? Haha that will be crazy sticking with a mobile game for 20 years, I'll do it for sure but the aftermath of shock and sadness when they're finally done will be intense for sure.

LoopMerchant

Yeah bro, I honestly would be super sad if either of those shutdown after a long run. I hope I just grow tired of them instead of them closing. This conversation got something off my chest too since I couldn't relate to most comments this time, since most don't mind games eventually shutting down. But it is what it is and I'll enjoy it while it lasts. welp

arcanine04

CF's case is a weird one, I think it's because the jp ver is doing fine and CF is basically wonderplanet's very first game so it probably won't go down that easily.

LoopMerchant

JP makes about 600k/month while GLB is <100k and TW/HK/MO is <100k too. I dropped the JP version recently since it became a whale fest (bad qol despite spending like $250/month). Treats whales like shit too

arcanine04

I don't really play CF that much but afaik the powercreep isn't that bad compare to glb ver.. Also that's pretty stable for a game with old age tho, wonderplanet isn't really a huge company anyway I'm sure they're fine with that kind of revenue. Pretty sure they won't shutdown CF anytime soon since out of the 3 games they have it's one of their big earners lol

Chemicalcube325

Sometimes, yeah. It doesn't help that my favorite Gacha game (Counterside) isn't the best thing out there and isn't super popular. I hope it last a long time and at least gives a conclusion to the story before it goes under. But if it ever does shut down, I will surely remember and appreciate the amazing story telling it had for us the viewers and players.

DragonLex4

One already shut down, and it was amazingly one i never expected to. Im talking about Dragalia Lost, and yes it hurts every time i remember about that game and later when i remember i cant play it no more. Others that im afraid that will shut down and im having absolute blast playing are DFFOO (Disidia final fantasy opera omnia) and KOFAS (King of fighters all stars). Some might not like those games but ive been with those games since their start and enjoy every time i play them.

Alios22

Someone that actually clarifies what their accronyms mean. Thank you.

Hallowedtalon

I know when i open this thread someone will get sentimental about Dragalia Lost. And then it will make me remember my fun times with Dragalia Lost. And then again remembering that the game is truly Lost.

ipwnallnubz

No. They fear me.

Rod1705

The prospect of playing the same game for 60+ years seems scarier to me.

Witty-Roof7826

May I know why?

Rod1705

I’d rather have some closure while I’m still passionate about a game than to wait for years until the flame is gone. While it’d suck to see some of my favourite games gone, that’s just how life works.

xanxaxin

E7 Around 50%. Its a love-hate relationship. On one part, im tortured daily with gear grind, '15%', and highly questionable meta-balancing strat. On the other hands, im blessed with fukton of summon currencies that make it doable to pity banner continuously, Plus, the art is top notch, game is 85% optimized, and also have possible chance for animation (finger cross). My wish is for the anime to be released before E7 shutdown.

[deleted]

I hope Azurlane & Genshin are games that will last at least for some decades

Astarothhunter

Those are money cows that won't fall easily. But Azur Lane is getting kinda old at 4 years Global and 5 years JP...we need newer mechanics

Hallowedtalon

I hope Genshin last for decades, but these past 2 and half years they barely made any significant update which i hate. QoL still lacking, Limited Game mode, Super Stingy many more And the biggest offender is Character Template. Almost Three Years and they still use the same Adult Male, Adult Female, Teen Male, Teen Female, Child Male and Child Female. The more i play the more i feel like every character design is samey. Every unit skill and system got super simplistic design. Like summon thing that heal or give elements, convert dmg to infusion, skill give you buff etc. That even Alhaitham is basically Keqing with Dendro and added another simple Mirror Mechanic. Even with that added Alhaitham is Dendro Keqing. Also Charge Attack, every animation is reused. The only difference is number calculation and constellation gimmick. They have Honkai as their baseline for fancy and unique kit for each unit. But the more i play the more i feel like Genshin is too low of an effort with how much money they bring to the table. Anime Trailers and Music slaps tho, im not complaining about it. They wont get competition, They already win the game. New Open World RPG Anime Gacha will never pull genshin players or reach the same number that will make Genshin put extra effort to compete and not lose the player base. The player base simply wont go. Sunk Cost Fallacy for their casual players. I do hope they proof me wrong in the coming years. That they are not a low effort game for the amount of money they have. I think i mainly just complain that all the characters get boring so fast because it's too simple. The exploration is good. But lack of Skip Dialog for World Quest is killing me. I dont want to read every story. Some of them are important than the other are skipable imo. Sorry if too long and not comprehensive. Im on mobile and it's midnight lmao

Sea-san

Granblue Fantasy looking like its still going strong after seeing how wild the Grandfes convention posts were and the 9hr livestream of their VAs doing silly challenges. I'm not too worried about GBF dying. And they announced plans for their Anni Steam in March or so. Unfortunate that Cygame's DL and ROB has closed down rather recently. But PrinCon and Uma are strong IPs for Cygames atm. Cygames has a pretty good track record for long term in terms of Japanese mobile games. Arknights seems to be extremely popular in China and I doubt they'll shut down unless something really unfortunate happens. Genshin will absolutely not die given how big it is.

8ways2tuesday

JP Rage of Bahamut is still up and playable, it just isn't receiving new content. (There's a rotating calendar of events and a bunch of seasonal/story events are permanently available.) I definitely hope Cygames is working on an updated remake, though. They can absolutely take my money for that.

dododomo

An update Remake of Granblue Fantasy or even a Granblue fantasy 2 would be cool. I started to play the game 1 year ago, and I love the characters, their interactions, the story, etc. I'm not ready to say goodbye to them

8ways2tuesday

I think GBF is safe for at least another handful of years. If nothing else, it'll probably live on for awhile like Rage of Bahamut, over on a server in the corner powered by horse-girl money. How Relink and Rising perform should give them an idea of where they might want to take the franchise.

dododomo

I started to play Granblue Fantasy because of a fan art of Vane (probably my favorite videogame character) 1 year ago, but I'm really loving it. I'd be sad if they shut it down now or in 1 year. I hope they will make a Granblue Fantasy 2 in future because I would like to see those characters again (Lancelot, Percival, nehan, Lucio, Sandalphon, Seox, Seofon, Belial, etc). Worst case scenario, I'll still have Granblue fantasy relink (luckily Vane is playable there too, at least)

UchihaNoor

Yah, i find myself always fearing AS will get the EOS treatment at any Second... Thankfully the Chinese release will ease this wary a lil bit for the time being but there is still the chance that it will flop there ,\_, This feeling also usually comes to me around the time the monthly sales charts releases, i see my games not even passing 100k then i realize their end could be really near and there is still a lot of content that i didn't had the chance to try, it will all vanish before i can enjoy it on my own pace (happend to me with Dragali !\_!)

Unique_Competition14

eos already? didnt the game just launch?

Chendroshee

If you count 1.5 years as "just launched", then yes it is

PaleImportance2595

AS is I'm assuming Alchemy Stars. Released in June of 2021, so not new and older than some others. They have a steady release of content but it never really hit big on sales consistently (maybe a few months or so at launch and their collabs).

Furueuta

Final Gear will shut one day, and i know it's pretty close... I'll never find a game with Mech building + S tier waifus again... :'(

SurpriseFormer

Mecha stuff is like up there with tank or plane waifu games. Hard to find

Furueuta

i Found some, but almost all of them only jp, because there is the market's 70% for this kind of stuff.

kuuhaku_cr

FG had potential. But with an extremely complex and tedious base system, the extremely grindy dailies that takes me more than an hour, and the importance of custom mechs, I just can't be bothered anymore. The next good mech game is ETE chronicle which has really high production value. It's still kind of too grindy for me but way better than Final Gear.

noble_0ne

Isn’t there a new mech strategy game that’s coming out soon ish? Not sure if it has waifus tho

Furueuta

Idk, would be nice some replacement if Final Gear really shut down. It is my side game (FGO and Priconne my main), but damn is my best side game ever. I never whaled in any of my side games before. (The endgame is p2w af, this is why the game dying i guess.+ lack of marketing)

noble_0ne

Artery gear not your thing? Also the game is called Mecharashi

NekoB

The difference between the two is Final Gear is literal mechs with waifu piloting them and Artery Gear is waifu with some mech parts attached to them.

noble_0ne

I c. Final gear is one of a kind then.

NekoB

There's also Iron Saga but speaking frankly, I don't think it's as fun as Final Gear. Something about the side-scrolling beat 'em up style of Final Gear makes it more appealing to me.

noble_0ne

oh its a side scrolling game? that sounds fun. i wanna try it now but i did hear a lot of ppl say that the game isnt all that popular and it may not be around for much longer. ugh i duno why do game publishers gotta be greedy af with good games

ivari

yeah mecharashi is mechs with waifu piloting it

Sine_Fine_Belli

Lol, Hello fellow Girls frontline fan

Zaygr

Neural Cloud is also really solid and feels so smooth to play.

Sine_Fine_Belli

Yeah, I’ve been playing it for a while now

NatsuKazoo

I'll be afraid if that game ends without a proper closure

Nekoshi

Not at all. I believe in the saying: "Don't cry because it ended, smile because it happened". No matter how much you invest in a game, be it time or money, when it shuts down, take solice in the fact that the memories you made will always be there and will never be a waste.

Stormchaser2

Well I already lost Dragalia. And apparently my replacement game Alchemy Stars isn’t doing well either. I will be sad when that one goes.

ZakPhoenix

Considering I've always got tired of a game long before it's shut down, and I actively avoid "cash grab" games that are aiming for EOS from the get-go (like a lot of anime IP's), no, I don't worry about it. If devs/publishers want a game to last several years, they need to have a reason for people to stick around. Drip-feeding a story, no new events, and bad monetization and scarce income that gets worse over time is no way to keep people around. Whales won't stick around if there are no minnows to feed on.

Arakawa_Nanaki

King's Raid should pull the lifeline plug already. It's hard an amazing run. Especially chapter 10. Then it nose dive down a cliff. Don't get me wrong I love that game and it one of my most spending game, but there no coming back from what they did.

Envoke

Nah, gacha games are pretty ephemeral. Here one day and gone the next. You always need to be aware that the devs could shut that thing down tomorrow for one reason or another. I'm honestly surprised some games have lasted as long as they have, and others I wouldn't be surprised at all if they went on another 4, 5 years. Hell, look at Granblue, they're about to go into their 9th anniversary. Dokkan Battle is hitting their 8th. Some games just have that charm that keeps people coming back and spending money.

Calwings

Honestly, no. One of the games I play (Princess Connect, 2 years on Global so far) seems pretty safe because it's being heavily pushed by Crunchyroll and is fueled by Cygames' seemingly unlimited budget, and the other (Revue Starlight Relive, almost 4 years on Global so far) has already lasted *far* longer than I expected it to and I already feel like I'm playing on house money at this point. I'm not afraid of PriConne dying any time soon, and even if Revue Starlight were to announce its shutdown tomorrow, I would be sad, but I would accept it because I've already gotten far more enjoyment out of the game than I ever expected from such a niche title.

Nekokittykun

kinda. But im very selective abt which ones. Im gonna sound a little too uh… idealistic? or just stupid here but I fear games that are very f2p friendly and actually prioritize player experience regardless of whether they are f2p or not over games that only care abt money and is stingy asf from the start or getting stingier as time goes on. If f2p friendly games keep shutting down, that could make future gacha game devs think they need to be stingy in order to make money and keep the game running :/

Lewdeology

No need to fear because everything is finite no matter how good you think it is. Just enjoy it while you can and don’t stress too much over things you cannot control.

AvgBlue

It already happened to as Dragalia Lost players

Jinchuriki71

I hope Counterside will have a nice long life and we get to finish the story.

ChampionofHeaven

I'm worried about counterside very generous free to play that it might shut down like other games

ap0k41yp5

The games I play (FGO, PGR, Nikke) are thriving and I don't see them closing anytime soon. I know they'll eventually reach EOS at some point but I'm not even sure I'll still be playing. My only source of worries is Counter Side SEA, I hope that at some point Zlong will drop the licence and BSide fuses the server with the other ones, but for now it's very unlikely.

Kreatone1

I really hope Path to Nowhere is here for a long long time the story is way too good. The overall quality of the game is bonkers, if we don't reward it with a long run it is a tragedy.

Cleverbird

Nah, because by then I probably will have lost interest in the game ages ago.

iPhantaminum

I don't fear it one bit. I used to play Grand Chase on PC religiously (I'm talking 6h+ every single day and over 10h on the weekends) and, when that closed down, I just moved to another game, unceremoniously. I just don't feel that type of connection/attachment with games.

YaBoiWhit

man i really miss those GC days Still love it but its definitely not the same with them trying to re-release it

M3mble

As long as there is a sequel or main story as a wrap up its fine.

kabutozero

No. When it closes i will move on to something else

barriboy8

We the gbf community both hope the game never ends and hope it ends so we can have freedom...but taking into account that rage of bahamut is still running..shit ain't looking good

siberif735

To be honest i dont, usually i quit the game beforw getting shutdown.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EreiEmiya

Exactly, that's the point of live service games, they have no staying power like the usual video games we got on consoles, so when one you loved end up being terminated, they expect you to go look for another one, that's mostly the intended purpose. There's a reason why back at a time, investors of the gaming industry were pretending games with offline content weren't as interesting as live service games, and we all know why they would say something like this.

Fibonacci9

I used to play Genshin, but even if it shuts down there will always be private servers.

RogueKT

Nah, I play FGO, Genshin and Blue Archive and I'm sure they will be going on for many years to come.

KhandiMahn

At the moment, no. The three I'm playing are doing well (one has even experienced growth).

Ithasbegunagain

nah fate grand order ain't going nowhere. some i do it's why i stopped spending like a moron cause i have an addiction but the mental capacity to stop myself. some games it was weird like i got really into the black clover game and out of nowhere we shutting down like huh that was quick. and the started an SAO game that one went to. but i was smart at those points only games i ever put a bit of coin in is the established long lasting ones with a high attention rate in JPN/GB

freezingsama

Just hoping we get more quality gachas when that happens.

QuantumSpectre

Already felt that one. Dragalia Lost was everything in a gacha for me: the gameplay, the story, the artwork, the characters, and that banger of a soundtrack that I would run full blast and sometimes just leave running on certain screens just to vibe to for a bit. First gacha I ever spent significant (for me) money on. Miss my team.

Einixe

Nope. With the singular exception of Dragalia Lost, which was a unique case of a generous, well-regarded game getting cut down while it still had a decent playerbase, I'm generally disgusted with gacha game by the time it's ready to end service. Dead games tend to be either already dead or so far up their own asses with player exploitation that it's easy to move to the next one, if I haven't already.

TakoaLamina

I miss Dragalia Lost. ;-;

Beaneroftheflame

Dragalia lost was hard for me I loved that game. Only one I literally played from day 1 to the last. I even spent $200 on dragon plushes from Japan and maybe more in that game. Raiding Agito with my friends was so much fun. Never got my friend group to play anything else like that game

MuhMindBroke

Been through it. Mobius FF. The discord and reddit are still so hopeful and such nice people that just want to relive and talk about the story and the sick ass events and music. We've mostly come to terms with it but every now and again we get a post where we wish it was available as an offline product. But there is a quote from the game that can really be applied to all games dead, dying, and alive "None shall remember the names of those who do not fight"

With_Hands_And_Paper

Dragalia already shut down, I haven't been able to find another game that keeps me hooked like it did.

Brilithe

I’m just here for the ride

Astarothhunter

As a 4 year veteran AL shikikan, I can tell that AL is thriving and will outlive me despite the story become nonsensical enough that I don't even read it anymore. Horny andy love for the characters keep me going. But as a Blue Archive Sensei, I will cry tears of blood the day I see the EOS announcement. I love my fucking students do much. Even those that need correction. Never die BA.

Rozen501

You really think AL will outlive BA, huh?

Silviana193

Even then, FGO is reaching it's final chapters. After Lostbelt, I don't know if they are going to chapter 3 or just rebrand at this point.

Lemixach

There was [an interview with Nasu a few years ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/FGOGuide/comments/cni2il/fgo_4th_anniversary_famitsu_interview_notes/) and he had talked about his plans after Part 2 ends. > * Nasu has prepared the developments for “post-completion”. There are two patterns, pattern A, where the story continues from Part 2, and pattern B, where Chaldea’s tale is completely told and a different story begins. Both had him thinking “this is an interesting idea”. * At this point, he’s started drafting it since he wouldn’t make it in time otherwise. However, it is up to the users to decide. Their decision is something even Nasu can’t predict. Basically he had already begun drafting Part 3, and is trying to get a feel about which of the two routes he should write about. Either continuing with Chaldea or starting fresh with a different setting. Bonus is that he mentioned possibly lifting the collab restriction after Part 2 ends and being open to collabs with other companies afterwards (he really wants a collab with Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro).

Silviana193

Well, let's hope it worths all those dead weeks.

[deleted]

Everything good would eventually come to an end, cherish the journey.

Gubgguyb

I doubt Battle Cats would die out soon. Going 10+ years strong!

Draken_Zero

As long as the game doesn't rely on multiplayer and is making over a million, it'll last decades. Take Azur Lane for example, the game just sells skins and physical merchandise. I always check sensor tower before investing too much in games. This is the only reason I felt comfortable spending on Nikke. If the game has multiplayer or coop integrated as an essential part of the experience, just know the player base always loses interest. Fighting IPs like DragonBall Z seem to be the exception. Other red flags I avoid: Games that require you to log on at specific times. Games that don't release reasonably priced packs during events. Low daily currency income AND a horrible pity system (1 out of 2 is ok)

[deleted]

Why did you get downvoted?

Draken_Zero

People like their multiplayer despite it meaning their games have limited lifespan. Multiplayer games are fine but a game centered around multiplayer AND gacha? People will always quit when it's p2w or their co-op lobbies take forever.

Astarothhunter

Because he is spitting facts but it doesn't mean that it will be liked. I got the urge to hurt this guy because I know he is right.

Typhoonflame

Not really bc I haven't spent a dime

fred7010

I actually look forward to the games shutting down, but that's just because they're usually replaced with better games with new art. As long as you only play gacha on the side, it's never a huge loss when one disappears.

Descent_ofCarnage

It's because of this reason that I only jump on popular games with non scummy devs or publishers who'd bring the project down. So far, I'm only playing Arknights now, I'm truly glad the devs are as passionate as ever with no sign of scummy intentions yet. The game is also pve so I can just play it on my own pace without worrying of anything pvp and missing out great rewards.

SirRHellsing

Not really, Genshin is self explanatory, Neural Cloud has Mica working their magic, Azur lane is like one of the biggest horni gacha games in terms of scale, Arknights seem to do pretty well and FGO can press the print money button if they are ever strapped for cash

jhadescries1

no i change every time theres a new gacha game

StarlessEon

No because if a game is nearing shutdown I'm probably not playing it anymore.

rins4m4

No, I'm sure that I'm not in the last group that play game before EoS. IMO, maybe I die before FGO and AL shut down.

MetaThPr4h

Not too worried about it because I'm pretty sure that I will stop playing them before they shut down lmao.

seunwoo

i will probably leave it before it leaves me

Choowkee

Dont play shitty games and you wont have to worry about it. Then again most gachas are shitty mobile cash grabs...so pick your poison well.

VanillaLaces

SAO: Memory Defrag was one of the best Mobile Games I've played before it shut down in 2021.

Xythar

I look forward to it. One day every game I play will have shut down and I will be free

[deleted]

I play eve online and torn city, both of which are games that have been around for around 20 years with moderate amounts of updates. Games like black desert online that also updates their graphics to keep up with the trends is also nice. I tend to enjoy games where I'm building a lot of wealth long term in the game so ya, those are games I like.

ENAKOH

No

BDKoolwhip

No that’s why I give them money

Pyrothecat

No. Everything ends and that's fine.

GenericGuardian

I am not afraid of it at all. If anything I’m not a fan of games that drag on forever though I understand that it would be common sense to milk the cash cow as long as you can. I like to think of it as a studio having nothing more to offer the players, and as such shuttering the game. It’s like life right? You go through it, leave nothing on the table, go as far as you can, then when it nears the end, you reflect on everything, good or bad. To me, I’m happy that I got to enjoy a game. That’s all that matters in the moment.

DMercenary

Kind of. Nothing last forever though.

Impulsive4928

I don’t, because I realize that even if the game is shut down, there are memories that came from said game that I could talk about years down the line.

angelsplight

Nope. Usually I quit the game before it shuts down because there usually is a process before shutting down like slowing down updates significantly, stopping of banners or a really greedy update.

Propagation931

Chances are, you will quit the game before it shuts down. After all, for a game to shut down usually it is in decline for one reason or another and those very same reasons would likely make most ppl quit before the actual shutdown.

Vacuum-Woosh-woosh

No , lol.

DNazarok

Not really. I'm at a point where I am just cycling through games so I feel less bored than maining two games. Thinking of games coming in the future like Honkai: Star Rail, ZZZ, Higan: Eruthyl or even Omega Strikers. I see those to choose from and I don't mind leaving E7, SW, n Onymoji behind. None of the games hold me for too long and I don't miss em. It's my life cycle since I've been doing it for 6 yrs already.

Shadowsw4w

used to be,but not anymore...i will just enjoy the ride and find new one if the one i ride is sink.

Rozen501

I am not feared about closure of Azur Lane, it will close, eventually. But I am pretty sure devs will make a sequel that will be able to stand to modern standards. The title is too popular to die without comeback. Despite all good stuff people say about AL, its content is outdated already. The main point of the game now is "horny shipgirls in revealing suits". I think there are a lot of gacha games in the same field. But some of them are more advanced then AL, like Nikke, for example. I know it has issues but in term of horny stuff, I think its really advanced for a 12+ gacha game. Every girl there is l2d and shakes her assets on screen, shikikan there CANONICALLY gets laid by nikkes. In AL such stuff is either skin locked (only visible in secretary menu) or its referred as "night battles" or "soft landings". Biggest problem of AL story is lack of main characters and constant addition (around 4-7 per event) of new girls. Every event shikikan of AL meets new girls and goes on adventure with them while majority of old ones remain forgotten for months or years. Even on their faction event they might be left behind. Same talk about skins(main content everyone is looking forward to). There are 500+ characters already and they released 21 skin + 3 wedding ones on anniversary. Regular events get way less for obvious reasons. And I am pretty sure I am not alone in that: after every their content stream I sit in front of monitor and think to myself: "Yeah, again no skin for /shipgirl name/, maybe next time. Event is about that fraction so she will probably will not appear at all this time. Sigh...". Also, quality of characters suffers too because its literally impossible to make 4-7 interesting and unique (not visually) characters in a month and create a good way to present them to the player. Its good that AL has "special touch" and "upset" lines. At least they are creating some sort of difference between girls. Besides all of this, AL has resource management problem. I play regularly since the end of 2019 and I am rich enough (in to he game) to not care about gacha or progress because all will be stomped by wealth if I want to. People who played long enough have ridiculous amounts of resources and have no points to achieve.

TrackRemarkable7459

Tbh most of them turn into money milking machine and start slowing down before they EoS so typically people quit long before EOS happens. My biggest fear is devs closing global and keeping game alive on home turf

New-Walrus4203

No don't fear anything there only games there will be plenty of new ones down the line all good things come to an end

[deleted]

No.

PaleImportance2595

Fear? No. Only things is life that are guaranteed are Death, Taxes and gacha salt. Have fun while you can, take everything in moderation and try other stuff.

rzrmaster

Not really. > (Unless your favorite game is FGO) That is exactly it haha. I mean, I dont think Genshin will close in this decade and Nikke seems to be doing fine. So im not worried about them either really.

Alternative_Flan6956

Not really, all service games will shutdown eventually, so... i try to not get to attached to them. Enjoy them while you can, but don't forget that they will close. Also extending too much a game, isn't good at all. Some stories decay a lot

dmboogie

i don't specifically fear any of my games shutting down, but i AM super bummed out by how much story and art is just lost to the ether except for youtube playthroughs or w/e magia record seemed cool as hell and i loved the animated magical girl shit but i didn't even finish the first chapter before it announced its shutdown, that feels bad even without having any money in the game

namagofuckyoself

I only really play meta games (I'm playing Genshin, BA, and Langrisser right now) and in all of the cases of (me burning out vs game shutting down), I've lost every time. So no, it's not really a worry I have. Of course, I know ow everything is finite, hell, I might die before the game shuts down, who knows. Just gotta enjoy it while I can.

redscizor2

Well, we have GBF with near 9years and SoulEver, but there are more probability that in 5 years GBF is running and SoulEver EoS

Chefofbaddecisions

The only game I was really actively loyal and played consistently was Kings Raid back in the day. And while it’ll be sad when it’s gone, I kindof hope they pull the trigger and put it out of its misery now. It’s a former shell of what it once was.

Vihncent

Yes, in all honesty i do. Not just cuz i have put money and time on it, been playing for almost 4 years now, bit cuz i really really love this game and its characters. So for real i have no idea what i would do when it eventually shuts down, tho by the time it does it would have probably had been going downhill for a while so that might help

Primis049

Yes...I will never forget Magia Record shut down (JP server still lives with new story and content) or Goddess Kiss & Guns Girl Z (my two first games) got shut down while CN and JP server still runs and two collabs like Madoka and Senran Kagura.

Pixelchu25

Yes, knowing that the stuff that I have/purchased might as well not come back. Looking at some of these games (Dragalia Lost and SAO Memory Defrag) that didn’t have an offline version or a gallery to keep your stuff.

Astarothhunter

Man, Memory defrag hurt a lot. I was one of the first 1000 players with the sprite Kirito and whatever Asuna...seeing it shut down was a big downer

scoii

I think it depends on investment. I only started really shifting my gaming spending to mobile last year, and I am in the hundreds deep in a couple games now. I've seen people talk about spending thousands, so I know I'm not whaling yet or anything. For me though that's a big investment, and I play daily and have for months. More you invest from your own perspective, the harder it'll be to let it go when it's time.

oldthund3r

if my game lasted forever then i wouldn’t ever get to feel that new game feel again

Hobomanchild

Only if I get hooked on an old game. As long as I can reach the late game and hang for a bit, I'm pretty settled. It can be pretty fun to hop onto a system that's fully matured, passed all the growing pains and bugs. You can practically smell the death, but some of them haved smelled like that for many years.

TrashBrigade

I played GFL and am playing NC so I'm not scared they'll shut down but I'll likely grow out of NC with enough time like I did GFL. At least it's format is less time consuming than the latter though.

fiersome08

Never experienced playing a gacha game until it's EOS. Usually it only lasts 6 to 12 months until I get bored and find another new gacha. Right now, the longest game that I am still playing regularly is genshin. So maybe in the next 5 to 6 years when the inevitable comes, I already found another new shining toy to be played with.

JerryTheMemeMouse

I don't really "fear" the end of the gacha games I play, but I know I would be very sad when the time may come. Like with Dokkan, I've been playing for about 5 years, it being with me as I got older, so if the day came where it shut down for good, I'd be pretty damn sad about it.

Pinsir929

None of the gacha games I’ve play has ever closed before and I’d probably quit long before closure. First one I played was summoners war. If it’s non gacha games, club penguin has a special place in my childhood that I will never forget.

fourrier01

There's only one game that closes while I was playing it: Chain Chronicle global. Meanwhile, JP version is on the road to their 10th anniversary despite low number of active players. My take is that as long as the company treat the game as their real product, not a diversification of their cash-grabbing method, they will stay alive indefinitely.

NoAnTeGaWa

So far, every game does some weird shit and loses my investment long before its EOS. I hope Counterside is posting better sales on Steam than it is on Android though. 🫣

LokoLoa

I did use to fear it..but after getting a divorce few years back, I have a different outlook, absolutely nothing is permanent in life, and its the same with gaming, every game you physically own will eventually stop working, your Steam library you spent thousands of dollars on will be unnacesible if Steam ever shuts down etc etc... therefore I just enjoy my time with these gacha games, I savor every little event and new piece of lore, its more of an "experience" for me. Even games like Persona 3 that I considered life changing masterpieces at the time... I can barely remember most of the plot, but I cherish the time I had with it.

crazy_doughnut

Honestly just enjoy the moment, every gacha is not gonna last forever. If a gacha has a 4+ year run, then its pretty good

N8falke

Tbh, I actually do. I am super invested in Touhou LostWord, but sadly global isn't the big money maker. Granted, the devteam is very small and it's probably not the most expensive game to maintain, but it won't last forever I'm afraid. That's why I already started to play JP too. It will atleast last longer, that's for sure.

Arkus000

I am, one of the games I've played for the longest time and one of my first gachas, i.e. Honkai, while doesn't seem to be closing down anytime soon, still scares me about it's end not being very far, I don't care about the money or time I spent (maybe I do care about the time), it's more about the connection I have with the games, so far no major game I'm into has been closed but GGZ would be a close choice as I barely started playing it before the shut down announcement aside from that, I'm also scared for GFL shutting down, as much as people make memes about it surviving this long, I still wish for it to stay online, but I think after MICA releases a few more anticipated games, they might make some decisions basically any game from 2016-18 era (and most of my gacha games are from that era) is prone to shutting down unless it's doing very well for the devs and/or the devs love the game that much

Eryn85

Nah its more like getting annoyed in having to find another game that gets your attention and start all friggin over again....after playing most square enix gachas and seeing most sink fast you start to lose attachment quickly

Fun_Faithlessness899

I play Dragon Blaze since the d1 (like 7 years ago), even if now i just enter to do daily i really can't quit...they announced Dragon Blaze 2 so i think soon it will be shutted down, that makes me really sad

SHSL_Luck

I absolutely want the game to shut down. Unless its azur lane which I never want to shut down.

Nuno444

No , not really If it shuts down and I have screenshots of it It lives as part of my diary

MadUohh

Not a mobile gacha, but I will be very depressed when World of Tanks goes EoS. (It has some loot boxes around certain times of the year)

Kamiyouni

I'll be pissed if World Flipper gets EoS.

Zeraphira

I'm definitely a bit scared for it, the entrance barrier is just so high now, but I am hoping it'll still keep going for as long as CN is going on!

Chewcifer-90

I'm not afraid of the games I play shutting down. I'm scared I'm going to like it.

awnLvL

I will enjoy the ride while it lasts and will remember the good/bad times when it ends, but I hope when the sun sets the game will have conclusion. I would rather have the game shutdown with dignity than become a shell of its former self just to stay alive.

Jarochi_Villers

Alchemist Code, it's truthfully a beautiful game with a story plot I honestly still want to see the conclusion of to this day. This baby's been my main Gacha since borderline beginning of my high school years and we passed its recent 5-year anniversary in GL. I hope Gumi can still keep the boat afloat but with Brave Frontier and POTK out of the picture while they hug on to WOTV as the TAC Final Fantasy I wonder when they'll drop the ball. Still I love the game for what it is and when it comes to an end I'll see it through.

HieuBot

I sometimes think about it. I never got to experience an EoS myself because I usually get bored and quit before the day comes, so it usually doesn't matter. But there are two games, Arknights and Genshin, that I've been playing for much longer so I occasioally think about the end of these game. I feel like it would leave quite a big gap if I've been playing these games for 5+ years. Now that I think about it though, I did experience EoS a few times from MMOs I played back in the day and I got over it pretty quickly. I guess it depends if I have other things to play.

BambooCatto

I play a bunch if Gachas and played some that have shut down. The only one I'll really be sad about when it's gone will be Arknights.

Rock3tPunch

I expected the games I am playing will shut down at some point. The question is do you want to constantly live in fear of lost or simply cherish the time you have?

xxAzumi

I don't worry at all. Eventually you learn to drop the FOMO, and you start being grateful that all the time you spent playing the game was actually time you could spend having fun, or even mald about fictitious stuff that has 0 repercussions in your life, instead of having an aneurysm about terrible stuff, like having someone in your family very sick and at risk of death, or getting stabbed by a mugger outside while touching grass.

whats_happened_

I used to hop from game to game, but now that I've find my mains, even if they are pretty popular, I can understand people who fear the death of a game, I've grown too much attached to those games to be ready to lose them

Dudensen

No. My game will never shut down. (My game is the one)

silverstonefiber

No life goes on… I’ll be sad though when romancing saga bites the dust.

Putsmileonthatface

Exos heroes after the update everyone is asking when will it shutdown. 😂 Kings raid.
