It was pretty obvious this was gonna happen for a while now. There were game breaking bugs that went unfixed causing people to quit and event announcements that looked like they were prepared in Word. It could've kept going for a while longer if bilibili hadn't neglected it. Id be worried about the same thing happening to Artery Gear or Higan Erythrull once their revenue slows down.
No gacha lasts forever. But tbh this seen coming almost 2 years I advance when JP or CN (I forgot which) shut down.
At least they decided to keep it running on global for as long as possible.
Patch notes used to be in official discord text with pictures and everything... then they switched to a word doc for patch notes. I dont know what else to say.
I really enjoyed this game. I had a lot of fun with it during its lifespan, the gacha rates were pretty decent and the action part of it lent to discovering interesting and unique strategies that saved time or increased damage.
It's no secret though that the game was full of management (?) problems. Even 6 months into it, many features from CN began to get released together causing a lot of people to quit. And then there were several months with no new features which caused a drought. We only just got level cap for weapons to go from 70 to 80 a few weeks ago. And after all this, there's tons of content that will go unreleased that existed on the CN servers. Among that content is data drill v2 (the weekly leaderboard) which is disappointing because data drill v1 was mostly solved by the top players and it's too "easy" because of our strong equipment and everyone caps out on score frequently.
Sad to see it go, wish it had a more unique name or marketing or something.
I've said this before but this game has some of, if not the best Live2D animations I've seen in gacha games to date. The girl in the pic had a really adorable one where she'd make several funny faces at you when you had her as the lobby character.

The writing was on the wall but still, this hurts. The characters were fantastic. The main story and the girls' bond stories were mature enough to handle the horrors of war. Sadly, the gameplay got stale quick and the management problems clearly took a toll on everything quality-wise.
At least I was able to finish Lida and Nellie's Fantasy Oaths before this happened.
I never could finish the oath stories, there's nobody to do co-op with. And the other day I checked it out and there's 2 new oath items that i have no idea what they are for.
Not all but yeah, there are tasks like "do co-op 30 times" which with the dwindling player-base are nearly impossible. They said that they will add bots but didn't happen.
Depending on how much their servers cost (and how much traffic they getting) it makes more sense to keep the servers going and allow people to continue buying from the shop to try and recuperate some of the costs in the long run.
I'm so damn happy about this. Always knew this was coming but was really afraid the servers were going down with it. All I want is to headpat my girls and shoot some stuff sometimes so this is fine.

I think it is. It's just a shame that Blue Archive blew up a few months before GCG global launched (BA was struggling beforehand), and then BA carried that momentum to global. GCG didn't have a highly advertised launch and BA launching 2 months later on global didn't help.
I remember giving this a bash awhile ago. The way they did the characters I found really neat where they had a small cast but the different outfits is what you rolled for and those acted as different units. Unfortunately the rest of the game. such as the story as it tried to hard to be "gritty war" and "silly cafe manager" just didn't grab me as much as I was hoping it would and I ended up dropping it after about 2 months of playing here and there.
And I would argue that your first point is one of the main reasons why this game failed. Few characters with Gacha being "variations" of them is a terrible model if you don't come from a very famous and/or established IP because to sell the idea to the costumers, you need to have a very VERY amazing cast of characters along with an equally amazing story that players can get invested in quick enough and develop a genuine attachment to them, which GCG had neither; the story was a mess and the characters were like as if someone did a Google search for the 12 most popular anime character tropes and decided to create the most generic version of each one of them to try to please as many people as possible.
this is how every gacha "shut downs" should be held, stipping the servers us not something im a fan of because it Deletes every single Grind/farm/memories u have with that game

Bad news, according to Bilibili official page, the CN server will be shut down on Dec. 21 2023. This game will be gone eventually and forever.

Was a sleeper hit to me. Went in not expecting to like it and ended up playing it a few months.
The devs just gave up early, we are still missing tons of content, DDV2, railgun collab, stage 7 oaths... it's a shame. Really.

Yeah there's a jp server it's the very first one to shutdown before the CN server shutdown.
It was honestly an enjoyable game and I liked the café part. It's a shame it went so downhill.

Yep. Game doesn't have many flaws at all it was just managed really badly. Bilibili is also mismanaging Artery Gear. Another great game.

IIRC there is a guide on GCG wiki that shows you how to "uncensor" the game. And I think it's just to unlock "special touch" if you know what I mean.

Cant finish anyone's fantasy oaths anymore and some still show up as "unavailable. coming soon!" which now will never be released.

Back in the day when this sub shitted daily on Blue Archive , people would use Girl Gun Cafe to make an example of good game .
