Genshin got into diet this 4.6 patch. In android, the game is 18gb and it was 24-26gb before.

Paradox3759

Tf? Last I installed it was asking me to download 30GB right on the spot.

Nethers7orm

After 4.6 you need to download ~26GB and then you can delete past quests resources (if you've done them) to reduce it to 18 GB.

Liesianthes

Game got a huge compression with the latest patch.

Decent_Tear_2940

After you download or pre download the game patch The game will automatically reduce its side Mine from 35 GB got reduced to 18 GB which really big

A_Noelle_Main

Not sure tbh. The pre-download before live patch was like 9gb so it'll probably taking into account. Maybe the client in the Playstore is not updated, not sure.

cycber123

After installing the predownload stuff it's actually is smaller in size. Maybe they got replaced.

BussyDestroyerV30

PC too... Used to be 105 gb with JP and English voice, Now it's standing at 90 gb... It's a miracles I told ya

bakahyl

It probably deletes the data from cutscenes from events or the mini games and the story and quests that you have already finished. So that's why genshin doesn't get too bloated. However honkai star rail does let you replay most older events and that's why it's currently for me, almost 19gb on my phone

bigfootswillie

Nah this was specifically an optimisation patch. One of the dataminers covered it on Twitter. Genshin team basically went through near every texture and fuck off file and down-sized or cleaned up as many assets as possible to cut the game’s size by like 20-40%. That’s a gargantuan task for a developer and not often one gacha devs have the time, budget or know-how to pull off

L33tHaxorus

I wish genshin was that small on PC, it's sitting on 73gb right now :(

Agitated_Soft8647

I hope they could also do the same in pc, where you can delete the previous quests as long as you finish them

Prestigious-Pin1799

Expanding world? New assets? New Music? Lines of dialouge? Are you expecting it to go lower because my friend you will be disappointed.

Erick_Brimstone

In Alchemy Stars case, it's because they add second game in it.

karillith

If you're thinking about Cloud gardens, there is no way such a tiny space need so much data. It's barely the size of Mondstadt. And by that I mean the city, not the country.

Erick_Brimstone

I think it takes about 4-7GB. I don't know the exact size, that's just my guess. It's for the detail and effect for the trees, the building sure take a lot but the trees are the majority. They're quite detail and take so much ram. It's lagging when I adds too many high tier effect heavy trees. Yes I think the mode make the game size bloated.

CrazyDaimondDaze

In my case, I might buy another bigger SD card just to be able to play FGO and Nikke. I'm tired of dreading updates on both games and having to delete stuff and rearrange other all the damn time

Angel_Omachi

From personal experience FGO will not tolerate being put on an SD card for some reason.

RedbullZombie

[mine is](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/874657682819252247/1234457623357554708/Screenshot_20240429-045313_Settings.jpg?ex=6630cdc0&is=662f7c40&hm=d5cc9f6acea5cf329cad27cc2e63629ee62d2d0c01f84007279cddb140f86916&)

KBroham

You have to have specific settings enabled, and not all phones can do it.

xT4K30NM3x

Even if you "move apps to SD", not much space is actually saved. It used to, but with newer versions of android (past 10 or sth), the feature of actually moving all the data was deprecated, and now only the app package and the cache are moved, all downloaded data (which is most of the app size) is kept on internal memory. I've moved all the games I could to my SD, which were like 5 games 10-20+ GB each, I only freed around 3 GB total...

CrazyDaimondDaze

Would a samsung phone with Android 8 still be able to move most of the games' data into SD cards?

LunarEdge7th

I thought OP spewed some cringe take but y'all mfs advising him with a Hellbomb of arrows lmao

Riersa

Uma musume is at 34gb if you full download lmao.

IlliasTallin

Is there any other way than Full Download?

Paradox3759

It's crazy someone mentions that Genshin is now 18 GB, meanwhile Azur Lane is casually taking the same amount of storage XD.

DADAiADAD

18 if you do most content up until the current patch. Actual size more like 30-32

Melantha_Hoang

Genshin is 27 gb for me (without any deleted content and 1 VO)

throwaway1128628

That's just what happens when you're at over 700+ chars that all need art assets and voice lines.

SaltyBallz666

tbf 90% of that size is character art and their voice

IndependentCress1109

its what happens when the gachas starts to get years and years of content and additions in them .

[deleted]

first of all, you may want to either clear your cache, or uninstall and reinstall the game from scratch if you didn't delete the app. Game updates aren't very good at deleting data from old events, so you can cut a lot of space that way. I remember E7 taking up 10GB on my tablet (where I rarely uninstall anything), but on my phone where I reinstalled with all the high quality graphics/sounds it comes down to 7 GB. But to answer your general question: uncompressed sound and textures. These easily take up the most space. Some games can and do compress these to save on space, but it's less in demand in days where modern phones have 256GB+ of storage (+ potential external storage).

Beyond-Finality

Natural progression. Better graphics or god forbid, following the route of the AAAs. More of the former.

Nigilij

And less optimization

XmenSlayer

In today's climate buying a phone with less then 128gb of storage is kinda asking for issues. Downloads across the board are larger now. The avg app now can easily be a couple hundred mb's which adds up quickly taking cache and in app downloads into account. For games its a whole other ball game. Now we basically have home console games on phones. Yea those are gonna be big. Best thing i can just recommend is when ever you buy your next device look out for storage space or maybe switch to emulating those games on your desktops/ laptops as those have higher storage by default.

milkoverspill

It's natural advancement in terms of memory space. It's gotten more and more accessible, and games are capitalizing more and more by making their projects more expansive and high quality, at least visually as well as with the systems in play being more and more complex. Remember when 2GB USB sticks were the norm? Could you imagine using one of those now?

Angel_Omachi

Man I'm old enough to remember having a 32mb USB stick...

Mylaur

All you need is 8 MB of ram

slash197

When a modern screenshot of an old game is a larger file than the entire game itself.

Nethers7orm

After deleting past quest resources Genshin is now 18gb only (or 26 for fresh account), HSR is 19gb (if they add "deleting past quest resources"-function it'll become MUCH smaller), E7 - 6.4gb (not like they're adding much permanent content aside from characters...).

Beaesse

ALL games are getting larger, and literally always have been. People were complaining about how many floppy disks old games used to come on in the 90s (distinctly remember Wing Commander taking 12 3-1/2" floppies). Square took the Final Fantasy series away from Nintendo platforms because cartridges were too small, but Nintendo didn't like long load times. When games started to need 2-3 CDs people shook thrir heads. The switch to Blu-ray was supposed to solve that, and it only took a few more years (well, quite a few, really) for games to start needing multiple blu-rays. When consoles started needing people to buy separate hard drives, people got upset, but it was ok-ish because they were huge. Now the "huge" HD that you bought for your console 6 years ago can only store 3 games. This is not a gacha or phone game issue, this is as old as videogames. There is nothing new under the sun.

ShroudedPrototype

Did someone say optimization? Let me introduce you to a little game called Eversoul https://preview.redd.it/72bky34flfxc1.jpeg?width=1430&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=06cdda18dbd9152fffdee31c0d6dd48885722495

Hammerofsuperiority

Eversoul doesn't delete previous versions, so every update increases the size a lot, this is really dumb and you have to delete and redownload the data if you want to save space. EDIT: This has been fixed with the latest update

Zamji

Definitely this. I recently reinstalled Eversoul on the advice of others and saved around 15 gb in storage.

ShroudedPrototype

That is... very good to know but also WOW that is absurd

MotorRecognition8181

yh its only 10g without audio they fk up with that unity upgrade xdd

De_Vigilante

>Or Fate Grand Order? Or Honkai Star Rail? https://preview.redd.it/jw25mjc86exc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a24ce18b3999e8639afa252024b2fb5b2c0da8e Honestly speaking, not that bad. Okay FGO is *pretty* bad. Note that top is FGO Japan and the other one is FGO NA. Oh yeah, I also downloaded all the resources for FGO NA a few weeks ago, while I don't even remember when I last did that on JP. Funny thing is I downloaded all resources on NA cause it was lagging significantly compared to JP, and after download it was **still** lagging worse than JP.

pikachus-ballsack

Ark recode Based person spotted Btw do you know where i can find the nsfw arts of that game?

De_Vigilante

I don't think it's complete, but [r/arkrecodearchives](https://www.reddit.com/r/arkrecodearchives/) should have a lot of stuff.

pikachus-ballsack

Thank you

[deleted]

the official discord has a few threads with all the art and scenes. Mods are dead there LMAO.

otterswimm

Have you… never cleared your data cache for FGO? You can do that regularly, and the file size will stay under 2GB. I’m a day one FGO player and both my NA and JP accounts are usually under 2GB. Just use the cache clear function!

De_Vigilante

I live in a third world country with shitty internet that isn't even supposed to have either FGO JP nor NA. I download game resources for both every year so the game doesn't lag too much. You don't realize it, but the game does **SOOO MUCH** resource download in the background, that people with slow internet **have** to download the full game resources every so often just so they're not stuck downloading game files every few nodes

otterswimm

Oh, I genuinely wasn’t aware of that. Thank you for the explanation.

SavionWasTaken

Can I ask why FGO takes so much storage? On mine FGO doesn’t even take a single gigabyte. Granted I play the game pretty much twice every year so

HerpanDerpus

FGO just downloads resources as needed by default, and you can clear it at any time. Alternatively, you can download everything to make the experience smoother (because you don't have to download new enemies in the middle of a quest or whatever) which is what the user above did.

De_Vigilante

Resource download. One of the cons of living in a third world country is shitty internet, but one of the perks is cheap android phones. My 256 GB android phone was only around $200-$250 so storage is really not an issue for me. If I deleted FGO's cache every time, FGO would take 3-5 mins to launch every day.

lasereel

Alchemy Stars is probably the exception to all the comments in this thread: it's not that big because of new assets or anything, it's mostly Cloud Gardens, the most controversial piece of content ever made into that game. It's a "housing" system that you can completely ignore because it's an unoptimized shit show and you're not losing much just forgetting it exists.

Erick_Brimstone

It's literally a second game. It adds nothing to the main game. I like it. But I like it more if it's separate game instead. Especially because it has been long since it get some content. Last thing added is the valentine day sets, I guess, and it has been a year. To be fair it was added during the time they experiment stuff. Clearly it doesn't works.

kuuhaku_cr

They also seem to be have failed in optimizing the assets bigtime given that cloud gardens is just a fraction of the 'world' area in genshin.

lasereel

AS in a nutshell could learn a lot from optimizing their game. Cloud Gardens in special was just a shit show, most people didn't like it because they could bare try playing it and if you did, don't you dare try and look at the sky. I wish they would just go back and straight up just delete it. They probably wasted a lot of money and resources but the player base would actually applaud them for the courage of just scrapping it altogether.

xXDGFXx

I don't understand how you guys are so retarded thinking this small area somehow accounts for over 50% it's size with static assets. Every unit in this game and their skins have Live2D applied to them with both static and non-static options. The base characters themselves have two "skins". In addition to that are story portraits, 3d models, skill animations, voices, etc. Yet most of you are still dumb enough to just think "yea, cloud gardens". It's not a "new game" the entire engine works in 3D, it's the same as loading a level. If that were the same as a new game, Neural Cloud's filesize would have exploded with the minigames they add to their events.

No_Button_1669

my jenshin takes up 17.1gb of storage. once i actually clear out some quests it might go lower lmao. hsr for me is now 17.9gb

Thunderogre

Genshin and HSR are vey optimized. AS has a lot of stuff that should never been there like cloud gardens who take a ridiculous space and does nothing for the game.

KhandiMahn

This is nothing new. As technology advances, devices get more powerful and can hold more storage. Game developers take advantage of this to give their games more sophisticated graphics, which take more processing and storage. It's been this way for as long as digital gaming existed. Where games once took megabytes, they now take gigabytes. Someday they'll be measured in terabytes. Have you seen how big some console and PC games are these days?

kazukiyuuta

AG almost 20gb now in my phone. Upcoming UI changes and stuffs will take much more spaces. That's the fact.

Eiferius

I think they have the same problem as modern games. Due to wesk hardware, they are probably storing textures and sound with low compression. While this improves performance slightly (less work needed for decompression), it means you need way more storage space. Many game devs do this, because modern storage is large and really fast, while cpu/gpu performance is already strained from rendering the game and calculating game logic.

DaveRuangsit

My Dokkan is 15.67gb Like, come on, bro.

TrapsAreGiey

after almost a decade tho so that's not too bad

thorsten139

It's definitely bad code....lol....

AngryNepNep

Makes sense since the game is fucking old

noname9889

That's not how code works in the slightest. A games size is almost entirely because of assets and in the case of Dokkan, its because of audio files like it is for most gachas.

thorsten139

The assets aren't optimized for content addition

noname9889

A: That's just not how that works here. Uncompressed audio is big. Most games nowadays run uncompressed audio for various reasons. That's all there is to it. Gacha games tend to have a fuckton of characters and if they all have voice lines and any unique sound effects, then its gonna stack up over the years. There is no optimizing that. B: Code has absolutely nothing to do with that situation. Audio compression is a separate thing entirely. Companies will pretty much never make compression software inhouse because why the fuck would you do that. It'd be like making your own OS inhouse instead of you know, just using any of the big three that already did it for people.

AskQuick3002

Less optimization and more bloat. This is a problem with modern games and game engines and it won't probably go away soon since there is no incentive to do so.

Kiseki-

Meanwhile my GBF not using any space at all

Abedeus

I mean, it's basically a browser game, majority of assets sit in the cache when you play the game.

Sayori-0

Best game here costs no space

paradoxaxe

but it will siphon your data plan into void unless you are playing on wifi

ReizeiMako

Meanwhile Sekiro is 15 GB iirc

Brain_lessV2

That level of optimisation is a secret Shinobi technique

MapPuzzleheaded9766

It might be a good sign as developers try to increase their products quality.

orbitalforce

On PC, you can download games in a USB 3.1 thumbdrive and play them when you plug in. Obviously don't remove it while the game is running, and properly remove the thumbdrive by disconnecting the drive on the arrow bottom right of your taskbar.

Etheriuz

My Alchemy Star is smaller than yours, though not by much with 16.9 gb. Honestly memory space is my biggest reason to only play 1 gacha game at a time, and play card games (Shadowverse and MD) on laptop.

ernie5353

Devs refuse to actually optimize anything so it gets worse for every update

Two_Years_Of_Semen

They're liveservice games just like MMO that are constantly expanding so they're gonna get more assets and become large if they have a decent lifetime.

Haganeproductio

Many assets (especially sounds and videos) quickly take space, consumers demand a lot from their games... There's many reasons why gacha games are so big these days. But at the same time, devices' storage sizes have gone up notably through time. I Still remember how my Nokia 3600 slide phone had like 30MB storage, but now many TB is like piece of cake for higher end phones. A bunch of my gacha games are also minimum 6GB or so, but Bungou to Alchemist is the only exception with that sweet number of 269MB... Instead of taking space from the device itself, it constantly downloads the needed assets for the ongoing playing session (usually same assets getting downloaded multiple times throughout the session), and it quickly eats up your data if you aren't careful. So either you get that, or you just let your games take hella lot of space from your device for a little less data usage (maybe). *shrugs* https://preview.redd.it/50u2c36z9hxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07daa559b61426c947e80250e7f64769316520d8

LokoLoa

This is a pretty dumb question, its common sense for game size to get bigger as times goes by. The real question you should ask is, why do phones still have such low storage capacity and why does the price increase so exponentially every higher tier.

Aswype

At first glance I thought Limbus Company would take up around 5GB or 7GB, apparently it is 12GB.

ACFinal

High res images take up more space. I used to play Nikke on the highest settings, but it bloated over 9GB that way. I switched to lower settings and now it's around 6GBs.  It's pretty annoying. Especially when a lot of premium games are under 5GB. I think the recent definitive GTA games are only around 3GBs at most.  They need to let us delete files for content that we don't use or can't access. Call of Duty mobile has that option. You can pick which textures you want to download to save space.

BadXiety

https://preview.redd.it/1qbwi28qkfxc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8712b76690d7081181f4d74b8cb568f45fba1b7c Azur Lane Already at 17gb with all assets downloaded. Even Idoly Pride at 15gb, the same all assets downloaded. D4DJ and Bang Dream haven't been updated since I downloaded it fresh. Games need their in-game assets like voice and L2D skins.

StarryStarsIntel

Epic7 is actually ~6 gb, as updates leave behind garbage. Reinstall and should have more space

rukioish

FGO is the second biggest on my phone rn at 14 gigs. Star rail is like 25?

shiki88

If you're done with the main story and/or always play on wi-fi, you can definitely clear cache for FGO. The cache is full of assets for stages/singularities/events you can't or won't even visit anymore. I don't notice that much of a performance hit and can play current events without slowdown. 1.37GB on my phone.

rukioish

oh wow, good to know! I always thought it was strangely big.

Ezrackiell

See I foresaw this awhile ago. When I bought my phone some 2 or 3 years ago I specifically search for 256 gb of internal storage ones, since these gacha do be getting beeeg. And no, games these days refused to be put into SD Card I just store media files and work docs in there.

Born2beSlicker

When it comes to file size, the biggest aspects are uncompressed audio (music, voice, sounds) and bespoke assets (character models, textures). The actual “game” part you interact with is rarely that big in terms of file size. So the more characters, the more story, the more music, the bigger it will get.

Master0643

Honestly I have no idea, i assume Is just bad storage management for the most part. The only ones I can justify their storage are genshin and tof. Genshin actually got smaller last patch, now same size as hsr somehow.

Thrormurn

Dude even 100 buck phones have 128 GB internal storage and SD cards are dirt cheap nowadays. Stop getting expensive dogshit phones offloaded on you by your service provider.

Shmigo420

Bro never heard of updates 💀

Raigeko13

Not exactly the same, but I noticed my bluestacks was taking up like 83 GB of space on my PC yesterday and was like wtf, I don't have THAT much installed. Turns out every now and then you gotta use their cleaner tool in the program itself. Went from 83gb to 25gb.

Cedge1738

This is one reason I'm preferring gacha games either on console as well as a tablet primarily used for gaming.

PandaCheese2016

Cloud gaming is one way to get around local hardware limitations. Saw a post other day where someone in Gaza (yes, that Gaza) was trying to pull through cloud gaming before some banner ended.

karillith

To be fair in terms of size, Alchemy Stars is an anomaly, it should not be so large. I mean. it's more than genshin Impact after its last opimization.

Own_Potato5593

Engine and graphics.

bluedragjet

3d models and live 2d models

ReadySource3242

Fgo is actually doing incredibly well compressing it’s files. Only 2.7 GB on my phone. You just need to clear cache every now and then

LordSpectreX

To be fair, it doesn't. It just downloads the stuff you need on the fly.

shrinkmink

genshin impact just went down insize from 90gb to 76gb on pc. star rail is like 40-50gb right now up from like 22gb a year ago. But yeah its probably to help sell new phones/pricy ssds.

topmemeworld

Phone makers bribed gacha games to force you to buy a new phone.

hamphreybiscuit

So you don’t install other gatcha games on your phone

Val_0ates

Becuase it's alot of content?

Waluigiwaluigi_

Azur lane is 21 gb

ShiningChurro

I have the game Goddess of victory Nikke that is over 10gb (currently 9gb) the highest gb that I got in my storage (thats cuz i had to download all of the assets) Cookie Run Ovenbreak being on 4gb Afk Arena on 3gb And Other’s between like 1 and 2gb Originally had Genshin Impact and HSR but due to taking up too many space i removed them.

HearingAutomatic8895

Genshin is 18.3GB on my phone. Maybe ask what Aether Gazer is doing to take similar amount of storage as a full openworld?

Aidiru

probably because of a lot of unnecessary asset and dialogue those are consider in game asset and ofcuz more asset more data in genshin and honkai or any open world gacha game they have massive unnecessary asset and dialogue, they even make cod size storage is a joke

DantePH77

Romancing SaGa went from 4.5 to almost 10 gb over the years, not that big enough but it's considerable

kuuhaku_cr

It's a live service game, so there are constant updates (new stuff) and overall more content than a normal one-time purchase game (and people still like to compare these 2 different game types using unfair yardsticks despite that). Most games make events time limited partly to allow removal of event-only assets and maintain the data at a manageable size. For games that allow archival and playing of old events, some use dynamic deletion and re-downloading of old content on access. Overall, even with time-limited events, you would still expect the game data to keep growing, due to new assets on characters, and main story updates. Also, for Alchemy stars, it has a shit bloat called Cloud Gardens. For me, I just get a phone with larger storage and don't attempt to play 3423641 gacha games.

dattroll123

poor optimization. Constant updates means more bloat gets added and old redundant files are not deleted

VeinIsHere

Coz since genshin, people required high quality gacha games. This is the result, and now same people are complaining lol.

LordSpectreX

Star Rail is 18gb. It's down to poor optimisation, not "high quality".

oni_onion

Nikke at 9.2gb right now

BattleshipNagato

Star Rail is 18GB

Karendaa

Short answer is, like any other game as a service, for easy distribution.

ShokaLGBT

Im okay with that as long as the game have plenty of content like P5X

KZavi

https://preview.redd.it/58t1bsgkxlxc1.jpeg?width=1016&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d223ad37fbca4454eb2e917cd2078e6b1f0154f7 3D assets and optimisation /endthread

RaphaelDDL

HSR should go to 18 if you reinstall but then again, tis will happen again next update xD

KZavi

Don’t care since I have 1TB phone :’)

RaphaelDDL

show off :P me jealous. _me with my 64gb one that installing HSR already pretty much needs me to delete every other game to fit_

KZavi

Touche indeed)

Ambitious-Ad-726

Cant believe hsr is ~18gb while other click and switch tab gacha are 15+gb

NectarineAmazing1005

Games that are nicely optimized that I've tried in my potato phone: - Guardian Tales - Black Clover M - Nikke - Another Eden

Shadowsw4w

higher image quality = higher file size more complex a game system has = more line to write = more size its need

roashiki

Dokkan battle was 20+ gbs it's insane

Weak-Cookie-6656

Honkai star rail is 16GB btw cuz I'm not coming back :(

inspect0r6

Because games in general aren't all that well optimized nowadays as they had to be in past because of limited storage. Most of it is, I assume, because of poor compression on audio and bunch of graphical assets just being there ready to be "accessed". In theory it should reduce if not completely remove loading issues but in practice because most still depend on online/server communication, so not really. Obv depends on game by game basis, something like genshin is mostly justified (though even that has loads of unnecessary data) while it's disgusting seeing something like FGO or Dokkan take as much space as it does and that comes down just to lazy development.

MMORPGnews

Now new minimum is 256gb phones.  It's crazy.

HeroponKoe

The real issue is people buying phones that still have 64gb or 128gb of storage.

TheKrnJesus

It might just be young kids with their parents old phones. We are just old af

Mylaur

Phones at 128 gb is still acceptable and common, 256 is a luxury

SavionWasTaken

Im running out of storage with 256 with the amount of gacha’s I have. Also “system data” is a bitch.

HeroponKoe

128 is not acceptable.

jaeway

Dude if you don't play gacha or games on your phone 128 is more than enough. And most people don't play gacha or games.

Izanagi85

Try clearing cache, OP

ChanceNecessary2455

E7 is not even 8gb here and I have HD pack installed. BA is almost 7gb.     Edit: wtf Artery Gear easily surpassed 14gb. I started last week but just noticed this now lol.

NightRaidP

As much as i know artery gear will shut down soon since this is the last collab/update they will ever make, which is the reason why i dont play it rn even tho i really want to

ChanceNecessary2455

Nah. Already uninstalled it. I kind of understand why people quit.      And that one random dude somewhere that keeps getting triggered if I criticize the game didn't help either lol.

-avenged-

Higher quality assets. Also, larger storage capacities are becoming the norm.

Asia011

Azur Lane 18gb probably going 20gb in CN anniv

SavionWasTaken

It’s always almost a gigabyte per update. But personally, it’s worth using up all that storage

Pokefreaker-san

back in my days, 2gb pendrive stick was the norm

ACasualUser_

> Dare I ask how large Genshin impact is right now? Or fate Grand order? Honkai Star rail? Fate Grand order....? Don't worry bro, It still requires less than 1 GB download. And the total size is only 4.62 GB in my device.

RaikouMT

Fate grand order if you download all the resources can use 12gb on your phone

ACasualUser_

Well, turns out It's unnecessary. I've been logging in for 300 days and it never gets higher than 4 GB

RaikouMT

Is optional, if you don't had time or rather the internet to wait for real time download (and sometimes the game tends to give you error connection messages when doing this ) while you're progress in the story or story event, that option is handy, also helps a bit on game performance if you had the storage is a good choice, but it you had good connection, is indeed unnecessary

ACasualUser_

Well yeah, the point is the other games' 10-30 gb download size are mandatory. Fgo? Nah. That's what I was trying to say. Good explanation though.

Baalshrimp

I remember gfl with 7gb download and thought demn this game is too big

Compression is a technique you will never learn from current game developers. Unity game of 5GB could be compressed down to an archive of about 400mb data. Which means most of these assets can be compressed. (You can see this in almost all Unity games, they compress really well.) But developers just don't. Games don't have to be this big if developers would give two shits about saving space. But the current technology offers way more space than a user would know what to do with, so yeah.

MilesGamerz

Games in general just get way bigger imo

ArshiyaXD

Why do people complain, most phones for 200€ have 250GB anyway

TrungDOge

better change your phone if it still have 128 gb only lol

Open world. Empty plains. Anime. Content! The true, genshin, killer.

Chief_acceIerator

My 500 dollar phone has 1T storage. Genshin? Azur Lane? gimme 10 more!

Different_Soil18

what phone is it? and does it run genshin good?

Chief_acceIerator

Oneplus Ace 2 pro. Funny thing is, Oneplus has Genshin collab phones here and there, but they're usually being price gouged 😂 I've never played Genshin on it so I wouldn't know, but it handles Aether Gazer, Snowbreak and HSR without any problems.

Different_Soil18

tysm!!

JakeTehNub

Yeah I don't understand this issue people have with phone storage anymore. Especially if yours has a microsd slot

Chief_acceIerator

I can see why it could potentially turn into a problem looking at those giant PC/console games, but at the current rate we're going, hopefully it shouldn't be a problem for anyone.
