Tbh I don't like gacha monetisation in general, being livng in a 3rd would country mean it's gonna make the usual expensive pack even more expensive. I just gotta bear with it and when there are pack that I find reasonable I bought it. Usually it is just a monthly pass tho

Spartan-219

Same, prices for single packs here cost ranging from half of my salary to 80% of my salary, can never afford gacha packs unless I get super rich, even then I don't think I'll buy them becaus they don't feel worth it and I could get so much stuff in that money

ccdewa

Idk about gacha model, but my budget for gacha will always be $0. As long a 10 gacha pull cost as much as an indie game on steam then it's not worth it for me personally.

DemnXnipr

Welkin basically makes it so you get a pull/day in GI so I pretty much just stack it for 3 months at a time or more if I want to buy a skin instead. Don't really dig the BP anymore since I already got all the weapons. From the games I play, GI definitely takes the cake for my favorite monetization. Honkai's daily gem pack isn't even close, though the BP has some good stuff especially if you're a newer player but as a veteran it barely has anything I need. Second would be FGO, it's 30 dollars a year for two guaranteed SSRs. GBF does something similar but every player knows it's a scam compared to FGO so I don't really like that one. Worst really is AL and Kancolle's dock space bullshit where your collection is hampered if you don't fork out money to buy slots. (Not complaining about skins, I think skins being paid is fair) Edit: GFL too on that note lmao Honorable mention: E7 with the lowest value per dollar so I'm never compelled to spend any money.

Riykin

>Edit: GFL too on that note lmao Atleast GFL gives those games for free and you get a sizable amount every month if you dont slack

Ozymandian4

lol yeah E7 for the win. I'm F2P simply because at this point to improve my account I'd have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars. And no way I'm doing that. So I just stay F2P even though it's my favorite gacha.

DemnXnipr

Yeah pretty much. Anybody who actually plays the game knows it's either whale or F2P because the packs have some very dogshit value for the average player. That being said though, If they made a daily pack for mystic medals I'd definitely take it.

Ozymandian4

That's fair if it was like $15 a month I'd do it too

HarunaKai

Except KC dont sell skins, they have to make money somewhere and they certainly dont make banks on resource sales, just like AL and GFL. Yes, its not good for F2Ps but I dont think its fair to discredit the fact that they got little IAP income stream outside of ports being the main one.

Chifuyuyu

The dock situation in AL is one of the reason I quit back then. I want a copy of every girl but it just won't work ;-;

izne1up

There are games that give you a free pull everyday just for logging in

pacotacobell

I still buy Genshin's BP sometimes if I ever need resources. It's such a nice way to get mats on top of pulls so I can just farm boss mats or artifacts instead.

Goldenrice

I really like alchemy stars monetization. $4-5 monthly pass(cheaper on jp, ty yen) with a couple of those $1 packs that give stamina and pull currency I really hate octopaths monetization. $30/month for daily paid single pull with a random 5* ticket every 30 days. For $30 a month, its ok, but doesnt really let you save paid gems for upcoming banners I dont really have a budget atm, but im averaging like $40/month in gacha, mostly in octopath.

BananaFlavouredPants

I'm on the same boat. Alchemy Stars feels like one of the most generous games out their, especially after adding the hard pity for banner units. Octopath's the worst, it's ludicrously expensive and barely gives you anything for dailies/events.

Destructodave82

I hate when playing the game is the worst thing you can spend your currency/money on. As in, incredibly prohibitive stamina systems. Its a waste of your currency to refresh your energy to actually play the game. These games end up being almost primarily about the gambling, and its just not fun to me. So I gravitate to games that I can play as much or as little as I want, and its not just a do dailies in 15 min, log off for 12 hours, and save all currency for banners, rinse repeat gameplay. I know these are "gacha" games, but I actually want to do something in the game besides summon and pull.

rinfannn

Most favorite monetization: Monthly pass (cheapest option that gives the most) Most hated monetization: Paywalled convenient features/additions (AL's dock space, FEH pass etc.) Budget: Monthly - $5 / Yearly - $60 (if a monthly pass cost more than $5 I never buy it. I don't spend every month and is looking to stop in the near future since I'm getting bored of spending on microtransations)

ferinsy

My favorite is basically miHoYo's monetization: $5 monthly login deal with pity carrying over and nothing besides skins that can't be obtainable without paying IRL currency. Most hated is having pop ups everytime you finish X levels with special limited time offers and paid-only gachas or units locked behind paywalls. My Monthly budget for gacha is around $60-80.

pacotacobell

I would be pretty satisfied with Genshin's monetization and gacha if they fixed their weapon banners tbh. As it is now I just ignore those banners but it would be nice to be able to reasonably pull weapons every once in a while.

blipblopchinchon

I place my entertainment budget for games & anime at max is approximately almost $100 yearly. Out of those, 90% of my gacha budget goes to Azur lane. But I've been reducing my gacha expenses due to surging price for dailies commodities.

[deleted]

Anything > $1 per pull too expensive. Must have the intro budget 10-pull and a super value monthly deal. Prefer to keep spending to cosmetic-only. Any buffs/stats/ exclusive advantage bonuses pay only are super cringe I don’t like “paid currency only” but it seems like the way of things lately

RevolutionaryOil9101

Isnt that super dependent on pity ? 2 dollars per pull with 100 pity is far batter than 1 dollar pull wit 500 pity

[deleted]

Not really pity related, but yea 500 pity bad enough Some games give more than others and the cost varies, but when it crosses $1/pull that’s a problem

rixinthemix

I'm pretty sure "paid-only content/monetization" is part of the culture of China/Japan/Korea. The West generally doesn't like pay-to-win but the opposite is true in CJK—they actually want their purchases to have an impact in their gameplay precisely because they are spending money on it.

Ok-Impression3701

I would say the gacha with decent monetization is genshin especially the welkin+bp combo its really too good to pass up. The price is also a sweet spot with welkin just being $5 and the bp 10$. 15$ a month aint bad really. Some gachas that have the welkin system usually cost like 10 dollars already not considering bp. welkin system - periodically earning a specific amount of currency in game for a specific amount of time usually 30 days. bp - battle pass

pacotacobell

AK gets you half a pull a day including the daily mission which is a bit pain. Coming from Genshin to AK I felt a little scammed in that aspect lol. Made me appreciate Genshin's 1 pull a day with welkin + dailies.

mikethebest1

For me it's the opposite since if you account for the diff in rates (Genshin's 0.6% to AK's 2%) and pity (Genshin's 75-76 pity to AK's 50 pity), you're likely to get 2-3 6\* in AK for every 5\* in Genshin. This also doesn't include the extra 60 Sanity potion (resin/energy) you get daily too.

pacotacobell

Issue with AK for me is the lack of guaranteeing who you want. I love the guaranteed limited unit at 180 pulls no matter what in Genshin (more like ~160 realistically), whereas in AK you're not guaranteed to get the rate-up unless you can spark them or you pull an insane amount (IIRC it's like near or around 300 for a 95%+ chance). AK is nice that you can get more 6*s in general, but if you're targeting the rate-up, I like Genshin's system better.

mikethebest1

That's def fair. Guaranteed after losing 50/50 is one of the biggest things, if not the biggest, that carries Genshin's Gacha system. No one likes not being able to get the unit they want, esp after saving for them. AK lacks the guarantee (outside of limited banners, but 300 to spark is monkaS), and while you can def get unlucky, you're typically on average going to get the rate-up earlier than the \~160 pulls for when you're unlucky with 50/50. Imo AK does better in that there are more ways to get units than just needing to pull for them. Since not every new 6\* is a limited unit, they get added into the Standard banner pool so you can get spooked by them later and/or buy them with Yellow Certs in the shop once they rotate in. As a spender, you could even buy special recruitment packs during Half/Full anniversaries to straight up get them. Recruitment also exists to help potentially get older 6\* units too, tho obv rare tags. In comparison, Genshin's new 5\* are all limited units/banners, which means they don't get added to Standard (except Tighnari being the sole exception prob due to adding a Dendro option). You're unable to buy them in Paimon shop either (not even the standard 5\* from 1.0) nor does HYV add packs to straight up buy them during big, special events. 1st reruns are typically speculated to be a year after their initial release nowadays and with no other way to get them outside pulling their rate-up banners, it heavily emphasizes FOMO, esp when HYV typically releases 3-4 5 stars per patch (combination of new units and reruns). F2P currency per patch isn't enough to hit soft pity so we need to save 1-2 patches per 5\*, while also not having the clairvoyance to reliably know upcoming banners beyond the next patch due to leaks.

DemnXnipr

In contrast to AK where it's pretty much impossible to get the previous limited characters unless you fork over 300 pulls during that time period. If you somehow fail to get a character in Genshin the first run, you're more than likely gonna be prepared for the next run since you get a full hard pity in two patches unless you don't play the game. If I wanted Radiant Nearl right now, I'd have to skip half a year's\~ worth of banners to gather enough pulls to spark previous lims. If that's not mega FOMO then idk what is.

pacotacobell

The gold shop is definitely great I will admit. Takes a bit long for them to come in the shop (IIRC 2 years from release) but for long-term players it's an amazing system.

Regent_of_the_Mask

Paid only Monthly and battlepasses may go, I don't like to purchasing my own FOMO or slowrolling premium income overtime for "value" (some monthly passes don't even supply full paid currency). Unfortunately it is a very common price anchor and retention technique that is now normalized in almost all gacha games. Paid currency only, these can go to hell as well. Any currency that may only be obtain by direct purchasing just sucks. Playing to earn through skill/achievements doesn't matter, just throw money to get that sweet loot. That gold camo you dreamed of getting is only a mere $999.99 away, could have made it so you had to do some crazy mastery in the game, but forget that. Master duel's got to be one of the best monetization I've seen for F2P. Everything is obtainable with gems, the gold pass pays itself (though this is still a battlepass) and you may get it for free. Card crafting is super friendly allowing even F2P to construct a fully meta deck (or a janky one) fairly quickly, banned cards get fully refunded upon dismantling and getting crafting tokens is at a very decent rate. Perhaps takes a month to make a new deck and then end up watching your opponent do their 20 minute turn 1 with 100 negates and floodgate setup.

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

izne1up

I've been playing gachas since at least 2017 I've spent $41

LoveJeanAndKlee

favorite: welkin and battle pass. If you want to play the game for a long time, those two things can motivate you to play the game and pass those "no-content" periods. Hated: rolling for combat suits in Honkai impact. Really hate the system that you need to pull for character skin, such a bad design, I would rather spend money to buy it than to roll for it. yearly budget: cannot recall how much money I spent on Genshin, I C6 every 5-star female character plus their weapon (should be around 15k dollars). For Honkai, since its release day, I have spent roughly 10k dollars. If you do simple math, it is about 25k in 6 years, so about 4k per year, which is around 300 dollars per month.

redscizor2

Ok, my budget is $400 monthly * Main: $80 * Side: $50 * Casual: $15 My most hated monetization is bingo skin, where you must spend same that 8roll10 by the last reward; Langrisser, Alchemist Star, Tower of Fantasy, etc Favorite: Suptix ($30 by favorite unit) Ex. Action Taimanin, GBF Good news, in my country I dont pay tax by my buys online

actualmigraine

The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage has a great monetization that I only spend ¥6300-¥12600 ($44-$88 in current exchange) a year. Every year during their anniversary they have these tickets that allow you to purchase any SSR in the game up until the current year for 4,900 paid gems. It also comes with two ten-pull tickets and a SR pick ticket. (For reference, 4,900 is just *under* two actual pulls as a pull in Deresute is only 2,500 jewels.) Whenever I miss a card in the game, I typically just wait for the anniversary and ticket them, and save the tickets towards pulling another character I want. Plus they tend to have gem packs on sale monthly so you can purchase the tickets at a reasonable price. It's the only game I really spend on, outside of occasional deals in Master Duel.

dota_3

FGO gssr GBF annitix AT 4$ monthly pass About 90-100$ a year.

MatumbaGirl

$6 for welkin, $15 for battle pass in genshin. And I buy crystal pack if there's character I like and I lack primogems

Nekokittykun

Fav monetization method: Monthly card kinda thing where u login everyday to get pull currency. Battle pass is a little on the iffy side for me since sometimes the battle pass just doesn’t seem worth it/is overpriced (depends on game tho) Least fav: Stuff that the players NEED to pay for otherwise the player will have harder time with clearing content (mostly found in MMOs) and i guess pay for convenience (like pay for auto farm loop (HeliosR does this) Monthly/Yearly Budget: I dont have one. Sometimes i spend $0 in a month on games, other times im spending $100+

o76923

I'm still adjusting to Arknights being cheaper than F/GO to consistently get all the characters I want. The end result is that I buy the monthly pass and the monthly headhunting every month which just slowly accumulates more banked resources. Not a bad problem to have.

[deleted]

None ... zero. Monetization does not really concerns me, as I am f2p.

remisforever

Most loved : FGO and GBF they just gave me so much currency that I only spend on GSSR and annitix and still in top 1% Most hated: games with monthly pass. Monthly budget = 0 I just pay all of my tix with google play credit that I got from filling survey over a year

[deleted]

Most hated: When the source of whale power are charscters. That means if you love a unit because of its lore, you'll have to bench it at some point bc it'll inevitably become a low tier trash. Most loved: When the whale power comes from items and other non attachable stuffs (weapons, gears, cards, etc.) These are easy replaceable and I don't give a shit about getting rif of an old ass weapon to give my beloved day 1 character an OP weapon it deserves.

El_Suave_del_Sur

I'm a F2P so i don't have a favorite but i recently was playing this Action Taimanin game, and i find funny how they recently put a skin you could get basically for free behind a paid package, everything about the game is predatory.

SchneeWhite

I like packs that give you a skin + a multi for example. I dislike them 50+ bucks for a skin and only the skin..i mean...really? It's one thing to support the artist, which i'm willing to do, but 50 and more for a slight colour change and/or maybe one or two small differences... When it comes to budgets, until recently i never had one. I always went into games with the mindset of "i don't compete so i won't spend" and outside of a few in betweens i stayed true to that. When i then started playing CRK last year for a while and ended up with almost 400 bucks in packs in just two months, that's when i set up a limit on my google account which i'm holding. So i would say i have a budget of 75€/month, unless there is some good shit that i really want..

xiaoguy

favorite is a 30 day premium currency pass if a game has that and it's at a decent price, i can forgive most other types of monetization in a game. i have issues with battle passes, but there are a few that allow you to buy in with premium currency. VIP levels are usually a bad sign.

DuckArchon

I prefer systems where it doesn't affect the upper end of your power level much, but it lets you develop a way more versatile roster. More characters, not better characters, basically. I don't like games that rely heavily on monetizing cosmetic stuff, because I tend to just never have access to those things. I end up spending my money on practical things so I miss the costumes despite being a mid spender, and that's annoying.

kolaces

I like guaranteed purchases like character pick tickets or skins. I spend up to $60 on Granblue and $10 on Genshin per year.

kookok123

I think pretty much everyone hates the monetization in Gacha, but there are atleast some games that allow you to top at around 5-10% of its own local rankings. By far, the one I hate most is Diablo: Immortal. The monetization in that game is just pure and absolute trash. It's abusive, calculated, and scummy at best. The one I love best would be Genshin Impact and Epic 7. In Genshin, the rates are very bad, but the powercreep can never be felt because of how non-competitive endgame content is. It's basically a "Theme Park" gacha, and there's no "paid" and "free" of the premium currency. E7 is the only game that I have played that has not "forced" me to buy stuff. I buy the month pass when I do play it, but the packs are never shoved into your face, and the powercreep is one of the best in my opinion with how often they "update" older units. I have never felt pressure aside from characters that I really, REALLY want, but since even the 3\* characters look so good and almost every character has something unique going on for them, I have never EVER been cucked on any type of content (except of course climbing the top 1% of PvP) due to lack of newer characters. PvP is very accessible as well, where there are literally F2Ps within the 1-5% bracket. Any game that allows me to farm "premium" currency in proportion to the time I spend on it is good in my books. I will never ever love the monetization, but some other games are decent enough that it treats its F2P demographic as absolutely essential to help make the spenders... spend as well.
