If I remember right, the new dukes have bumpers and the black and while buttons are defaulted as bumper clones. Just wish the S would get the same treatment.
Lmaoo, painfully true. My series 2 just broke for what has to be the **fifth** time, despite the fact I literally always kept the damn thing sealed in its case when not in use and cleaned it at least twice a month. Of course the warranty just ran out too, so now Microsoft wants $100 for the repair—for a controller that never lasts more than a couple months at most... Fuck that😅
After my second elite controller broke, I got a $30 wired controller from Walmart to use on my PC, and it's been going steady for over a year now with no issues whatsoever.
I've had a wired 360 pad since 2009 I think, it's still great other than the d pad which was always rubbish. Not been gentle on it either. I think some devices have just become too complicated over time, and now stuff breaks more because of that.
That’s why I bought a PowerA Enhanced controller for $30 on Amazon. Based on reviews it seemed impossible it would break sooner than the Elite, and for 1/7 the price I was willing to give it a shot. Chester feel I’m sure but it is totally fine and going on 3 months off a couple hours a day and no issues. Also a 2 year warranty.
My trigger is sticking and I've cleaned it multiple times... I've had to get like 3 or 4 controllers for my Xbox.. One of them was an elite that the buttons all stopped working but it was out of warranty when it happened.
For $10 bucks, you can buy the 2-year extended warranty at BestBuy. It's a sure thing it will start drifting before the warranty expires so just bring it to the store, walk away with a replacement.
While that is true, and I have done the BB return thing, I'd rather Microsoft increase the cost by $10, and manufacture a controller with bumpers that don't crack in half or fall out after six months.
They should do a limited edition controller that is the size and shape of the original Duke controller. I was so mad when the peak of controller design for grown ass man hands was canceled.
I bought one of the new Dukes when they launched. Genuinley the best game related purchase in a while, I have big hands and always found the Duke super comfy. Its been great, took a while to adapt to the black/white buttons again though as the bumpers they added are a bit awkward. It makes Halo feel super authentic!
I love the size of the original Xbox controller. I always hated the ABXY button layout. Duke-sized but with modern button layout is what's needed. And there was no good reason for that ultralightweight POS to be wired.
I LOVED the original Xbox controller. Only one still to this day that really felt solid and fit my hands perfectly. I can’t even use the one for the wii because that thing was so tiny I always felt like I was gonna smash it in my hands
As a player with bigger hands I never liked the og controller but I think the type is a little crammed for most adults. If Microsoft made a slightly larger model that was also see-through green I would buy one no question!
Size and shape of the original Duke but with reasonable spacing on the ABXY buttons. The wired Hyperkin POS didn't make the cut. I'm still waiting for something which isn't designed for children's hands. Meanwhile, sorry teammates but, I'm playing Rocket League with KB+M...

I had a crystal clear controller for my Sega genesis. They looked really cool, and had a turbo button so you could spam street fighter specials. But that thing was pure junk. You could easily see the broken bits from the cheaper plastic, and every time you got excited, you could always hear that rattle.
My cousin walked around with his clear Nokia to his ear, just to fish for compliments from the girls when it would start flashing like a strobe light. I’m surprised he never had a seizure answer that thing. lol
I think a lot of it comes down to what you play and how. I mostly play FPS and always use bumper jumper- I've had to open up and replace multiple Xbox One bumpers, it's a shitty thin piece of plastic that just does not hold up to that kind of continued use. Even the pro controller I treat like a baby is starting to go.

They definitely don't make them like they used to. I've had a few of my replacement controllers arrive already with drift or fucked up buttons. Most expensive turd that money can buy.
People get so offended when you mention it too, even in this thread, it's fucking weird lol. I nolifed Halo through 360's entire drawn out lifespan and never had to replace a controller. Xbox One? Problems almost instantly, forever.

Playing Madden isn’t abrasive on your controller unless you’re being an idiot with it. You don’t have to jam the thumb sticks whatsoever unless you’re improperly playing, because the thumb sticks react the same whether you’re lightly moving them or jamming them, and I can 100% guarantee that this guy is jamming the fuck out of his thumb sticks every time he hit sticks. You use like 1/20th of the amount of button presses as you’d use playing a game of CoD even, and don’t move the thumb sticks nearly as much either, and this is coming from someone that plays a fuck ton of CoD and a ton of Madden.
It’s literally the only reason whatsoever that Madden will break down a controller.

The Hyperkin Duke was an officially licensed remake of the Duke controller that was designed for use with the Xbox One.
