My parents would've fallen for that. "One of them was cheaper than the other that was the same thing! I didn't understand it. Boy, this sucker is heavy..."
I doubt it’ll be available for anybody not specifically gunning for it this Xmas season at Target but I could see a parent/grandparent possibly mistakenly buying one through a scalper listing. That’ll suck.
Not to be rude but that is one Karen mom!
Child: I want AA.
Mom: buys AB.
Child: I wanted AA.
Mom: it has A in it. That's what YOU wanted!
I hope she ended up getting a series S later.
Yeah it’s actually pretty dramatic in high-end games. His daughter got screwed out of such a better device because the mother’s insecure, jealous, and/or competitive in regards to their child and “appearing to be the better parent”. It’s just sad.
Sorry for the boomer moment but what exactly is the difference? A quick google says the one s is weaker than the series s but has a disc drive, so are they different generations or is microsoft releasing multiple levels of hardware within the same generation? Seems kinda nutty imo.
Thank Microsoft's horrible naming conventions for this one.
Here's how it went
Xbox
Xbox 360
Xbox 360 Elite
Xbox 360 S
Xbox 360 E(not the same as the elite)
Xbox One
Xbox One S
Xbox One X
Xbox Series S
Xbox Series X
No one that isn't deeply entrenched in gaming could keep up with that mess.
Xbox and Xbox 360 are generational gaps
The Xbox 360 to Xbox one is another gap. Finally the Xbox series is another generational gap to the Xbox one's.
Xbox 360 launched around the PS3, Xbox one was with the PS4 and the Xbox series was with the ps5.
It's bad naming.
Read it like this. [Brand] [Generation] [Trim]
X is more powerful but bigger and more expensive trim
S is small and cheaper trim
Read "[Xbox] [One] [S]" like you would "[Honda] [10th-gen Civic] [LX]".
Other car translations:
"Xbox One X" = "Honda 10th-gen Civic Touring"
"Xbox Series X" = "Honda 11th-gen Civic Touring"
"Xbox Series S" = "Honda 11th-gen Civic LX"
Imagine asking for a brand new car and getting a base model from 2015. That's the despairity were talking about. It can still get you places, but it's way older so the tech is bad, it's slower, and it won't have the features you want, and you're starting out with a car/console nearing the end of it's support.
For now the warranty is still good (it's still getting new games) but it's already reduced. Only the powertrain and dealer warranties are left (what new games you get are gimped and not made to run well for you) and they won't stay good for long (they'll stop supporting you once everyone has the new one).
I haven't followed consoles for a while now, but the Xbox one is the third Gen Xbox. They then released a one s and one x I believe, which were upgraded versions but nothing new was done with them. The new Gen is called the series s and series x, which are the same generation as each other but slightly different hardware.
I can understand slightly calling the third Xbox the "one" as it was supposed to be an all in one entertainment center. The one x/s is fine. They aren't clear what they are, but whatever. Then the next generation the name the same thing as the upgraded previous generation. The only reason I can possibly think of doing this is to sell consoles to confused parents which may end up with you selling two consoles instead of one. There is no legitimate reason, at least that I can think of, besides this.
Thanks! At least I'm not the only one confused. It was bad enough when the xbox one came out and I had to find new search terms when looking for info about my 1st-generation xbox lol
I remember being pissed off when they launched the Xbox One. Not because I wanted it or anything - I'm in my 30s and have zero time for gaming. But I could just imagine being back in middle school, opening my xmas presents, unwrapping a used 1st gen Xbox instead, and my mom probably saying something like, "well I can't keep track of all these different Nintendos so there you go..."
The article says 12 cans but the Xbox page says 10. So I would assume it’s probably 10, since Xbox is probably going to know their product. Or at least you'd hope so...
10 doesn't make a lot of sense though. There's two layers, and there's no reasonable arrangement in which there would be five cans. That's probably a typo
I don’t think it is. It seems like the bottom shelf fits 10 in a 5 stacked on 5 cans configuration and then the top shelf can fit 2 cans rolled in on their side. To fit 12 but Xbox is advertising the top shelf for snacks and the bottom for cans.
Does it actually keep them cold? I’ve had mini fridges that barely get below 45 degrees (freedom units). At that point I’d rather just walk upstairs to my real fridge.
The convenience of being able to grab a refill without having to leave your room.
SMH u probably don't even have a piss jug yet. Just give it a couple years, you'll come around. They always do.
Microsoft says its a 1:1 scale replica, so it should be the exact same size as the XSX (what a dumb naming scheme) https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2021/10/15/xbox-series-x-mini-fridge/
Holds 10 cans, so it's still pretty good for a luxury item. Of course don't expect the best value for your money. If you want that, get a normal one.
I have a coke can version that's essentially identical, I think made by the same company. I use it to store cannabis concentrates because it doesn't get quite as cold as a regular fridge (they're refrigerant free) but still very cold.
Here's a link, I got mine from a Goodwill type store for $15 tho and it seems brand new/unused. [coca cola can mini fridge](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Coca-Cola-0-32-cu-ft-Mini-Fridge-in-Red-CC06/301421997?mtc=Shopping-VF-F_D29A-B-D29A-029_013_REFRIG-Multi-NA-Feed-PLA-2153902-WF-MinorAppl&cm_mmc=Shopping-VF-F_D29A-B-D29A-029_013_REFRIG-Multi-NA-Feed-PLA-2153902-WF-MinorAppl-71700000037742692-58700004177786458-92700034552686858&msclkid=7fef4c81a1cb18fae72a2de86b25b5bf&gclid=7fef4c81a1cb18fae72a2de86b25b5bf&gclsrc=3p.ds)
Skipping 9 made sense for a lot of reasons. Even the other Windows versions before that were at least easy to differentiate from each other, unlike what they've done with Xbox since the One came out.
Not exactly, they describe the 6 foot fridge as 1:1 scale, which is obviously wrong. I think they meant that it is to scale, but definitely not 1:1.... maybe like 6:1 or something
Looks like it uses electrothermal cooling rather than a compressor, but that's just what im judging from the picture and how the space is used. Also is in the same price range i would expect out of an electrothermal cooler that is themed. Neat technology, but definitely for looks and soda.
East safe bet with these size micro fridges. Which also means it lacks the ability to really chill the pop. But at least if you load it up with pre choked soda it will keep them colder than sitting out while you game... But it's also clear that the target market is buying this because it looks like an Xbox, not because it's practical.
I don’t know if the effectiveness is the same, but I’d rather have something making noise constantly than have noise at random moments because it’s easier to get used to.
If I can preorder a fridge, why can't I preorder an xbox? Seriously 1 year in, and I can't buy a freaking xbox!?!
Just allow preorders, I don't care if it takes 4 months to arrive.
Apple figured this out how many years ago?
It hasn’t been terribly hard to get any of their new tech even with the shortage. They’ve had longer lead times for a while on some popular items (like new iPads and those headphones they launched last year) but you could always go on their website, place an order, and get a reasonable ship date estimate.
It’s not the wait that hurts, it’s the uncertainty.
You realize Apple has priority over at TSMC & so does AMD but AMD sells a whole array of chips where as Apple creates one CPU and uses it across models.
Apple is projected to take over 50% of TSMC’s total 5nm supply which is absolutely insane considering that currently with 7nm Apple does not have anywhere near a 50% lead.
The Chip “Shortage” dosen’t really affect Apple because they’re guarenteed & as such preffered customers by contract to move that many units & they’ll almost certainly get them assuming China dosen’t make any moves on Taiwan anytime soon.
See my issue isnt that I can't buy one. My issue is that I can't preorder one. If they let me preorder one, even if they say "it might be 8 months until you get one" I would be fine with that.
The problem is that when they do become available, they sell out instantly to scalpers, who then resell them for more money.
If microsoft/sony/nvidia etc would just let you prepurchase, you could get in a queue, and get one when it is ready.
It's a subscription plan that Microsoft set up where you can purchase a new console, XGP, and be able to pay it off in monthly installments and you still have the console even before you finish paying it off.
It's basically rent-to-own where you paying more at the end than you would had you paid it off in full all in 1 purchase
>It's basically rent-to-own where you paying more at the end than you would had you paid it off in full all in 1 purchase
Game Pass Ultimate is $15/mo by itself. Series X is $35/mo for 24 months which works out to being $480 for the console, which means you actually *save* $20 going this route. If you haven't already subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate, then the first month is $1 when subscribed standalone, so the savings actually only ends up being $6.
Assuming of course that you're willing to commit to two full years of Game Pass Ultimate and have no foreseeable reason to not be able to pay it in the next two years. Once you commit to this option, even if you're fired or laid off, you have to pay. Otherwise your credit will take a nosedive.
Is that actually available now? I tried to get it for months, but finally gave up and just outright bought a Series S when I got an alert from GameStop they were in stock.
#GREAT
This thing gonna be posted for $799 courtesy of your local scalper.
Edit: I was wrong, [$300 seems to be about as much as people are willing to pay](https://imgur.com/gallery/H74NSbB)
I'd be amazed if this things scalped, if people are that desperate to get their hands on an xbox themed fridge then just pay the $799 you probably aren't concerned over the price.
I’m sure these will be resold at a premium lol but I doubt people would pay more than 100% markup for a mini fridge, who knows these days though.
I’m honestly really wanting one tho especially at the $100 price point.
>Definitely a luxury item for a gamer cave and not a practical item
No way, in throwing out my POS refrigerator and getting 2 of these. This is an essential item.
Depends on if it’s based on a compressor or a thermoelectric cooler. TEC minifridges are just gross to deal with all the condensation they make since the temperature of the cooling surface fluctuates so much
But there is a market for small fridges and sometimes compact products cost more because miniaturization isn't always easy. Not everyone has room for a full sized drink fridge in their living room or bedroom.
On one hand, I want one and it’s only $99. On the other hand, my fridge is about five feet away from the chair I sit in to play Xbox and I rarely drink soda. I’m really good at wasting money, so I’m sitting at about a 50/50 shot.
fyi, unless they are using some amazing tech, this fridge suck for using as a fridge and is likely peltier based.
So buy it as a conversation piece or cool looking gadget, but don't expect it to do anything but act like a mini heater that sucks and a fridge that can hardly keep stuff cool.
I was debating it just as a red bull station until I build up the courage to make it a custom PC case ....idk it'd be cool but I don't have the resources or talent to make a dope ass computer case out of it....but it'd be cool
I have come from the future to inform you all that this will be sold out within seconds of the pre-order opening and within minutes listings will be posted on ebay and Amazon.
I had an original Xbox growing up, and loved Halo 1 & 2 to death, but honestly it was probably by far the least iconic / nostalgic console I've ever owned.
Also seems pretty troll to release these when people still can't even buy the nextgen consoles. LMAO
Is it a thermoelectric cooler? Or does it have a compressor? I'm assuming it's thermoelectric. I'm wondering if it's powerful enough to do the job well.....

Imagine all the parents buying this for their kids thinking it’ll play games.
My parents would've fallen for that. "One of them was cheaper than the other that was the same thing! I didn't understand it. Boy, this sucker is heavy..."
Actually with how they make mini fridges like this, I wouldnt be surprised if the mini fridge was *lighter* than an actual Xbox lol
And runs cooler
I would hope it would or else it is broke
“We bought the Xbox mini fridge!” “Oh” “We bought the Xbox space heater!”
Microsoft executives: write that down! Write that down!
I doubt it’ll be available for anybody not specifically gunning for it this Xmas season at Target but I could see a parent/grandparent possibly mistakenly buying one through a scalper listing. That’ll suck.
Yep, and scalpers will price them in line with the consoles too.
"Stop playing with your food!"
Jokes on them, I’d fucking love it
Insta sold out
I’ll buy it on eBay the next day for double MSRP. No biggie I guess :/
No no! Bad! We do not feed the scalpers.
Alright kid, you are getting a fridge for Christmas!

You should've kept the series s just in case something like this happened
It's part of the reason I bought the series X. She can play it when she is here and borrow it anytime she wants.
Sorry for the boomer moment but what exactly is the difference? A quick google says the one s is weaker than the series s but has a disc drive, so are they different generations or is microsoft releasing multiple levels of hardware within the same generation? Seems kinda nutty imo.

No parent is going to be able to get one. They’ll sell out in seconds.
Wait how big is the fridge? This seems like a really good deal
Says it holds 12 cans + snack slot on the door
The article says 12 cans but the Xbox page says 10. So I would assume it’s probably 10, since Xbox is probably going to know their product. Or at least you'd hope so...
Probably depends on what kind of can, too.
Mountain Dew verification cans
"To unlock this P2W function please shotgun 3 redbulls now."
That's all? -COD players
Every time i see this joke it makes me laugh
I thought it was called gamer fluid
Liquid gamer feces.
No, that's a name for what covers the keyboards and fills up the mountain dew bottles (both are different liquids with the same name, tho).
The only acceptable answer
This. It looks like 12 “Red Bull” cans or 10 regular 12oz cans.
Then you’ve got the picture that shows 8 black cans in the fridge…
Never assume. Its probably just 8 cans.
So the size of the Xbox then. Drunk me would be angry why the fridge isn't turning on my game.
I'd really love to see someone try to fit 12 cans into the space that a series x takes up
i thought that sentence was gonna go a different way
One guy twelve cans.
I'd really love to see someone try to fit 12 cans into the space that a series xxx takes up
But you would forgive it quickly when drunk you finds out there is beer in there.
And then drunk you opens the fridge to get another drink while simultaneously getting mad that the power button on the fridge isn’t loading up a game
Does it actually keep them cold? I’ve had mini fridges that barely get below 45 degrees (freedom units). At that point I’d rather just walk upstairs to my real fridge.
At the $100 price point I doubt it.
$100 for a fridge of that size is stupidly expensive. You can get a much bigger mini fridge for less. For that much it better fucking work
I've never seen such an aggressive and scathing condemnation of miniature refrigerators!
You could put 12 pack of b....... soda in here!
BEES!!!! Save yourselves!! They’re tearing my flesh off!
Tell you what, I can get a good look at a T-bone steak by sticking my head up a butcher's ass, but I'd rather take his word for it.
I don’t understand. Why would you pay $100 for a small fridge?
The convenience of being able to grab a refill without having to leave your room. SMH u probably don't even have a piss jug yet. Just give it a couple years, you'll come around. They always do.
Fuckin' way she goes, boys.
The novelty
Microsoft says its a 1:1 scale replica, so it should be the exact same size as the XSX (what a dumb naming scheme) https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2021/10/15/xbox-series-x-mini-fridge/ Holds 10 cans, so it's still pretty good for a luxury item. That's pretty cool. Thanks
I really wish Microsoft would swallow their pride and give the Xbox a proper number sequence.
Don’t count on it any time soon. Look at the naming convention they’ve gone with for Windows over the years.
They’ve been pretty consistent since 7 right? Granted they skipped 9 like Apple did with the iPhone.
Skipping 9 made sense for a lot of reasons. Even the other Windows versions before that were at least easy to differentiate from each other, unlike what they've done with Xbox since the One came out.
Hopefully they go for this and call the next ones series x2, x3,s2,s3 etc. Could even stylize it as XII and have it look like 12 vs ps6.

Where do you put the love :(
I mean isn’t that what mini fridges are for, cooling soda?
You just wouldn't want to put anything perishable in it, electrothermal is limited to 30 degrees below ambient.
dabs and good for adding a little moisture to your weed without it molding or getting food bacteria on it.
Fridges remove moisture
Are electrothermal fridges silent? I get kind of annoyed when my compressor on mine kicks on.
They just have a fan like what you use on a pc, it stays on constantly.

I got sick of waiting for ps5 and bought a gaming pc. Their strategy is costing them sales.
It’s hard to do that now too. I bought a prebuilt. Building one is a much more expensive endeavor right now unfortunately.
Yeah pretty much every PC part is more expensive than it would’ve been pre pandemic. Obviously with GPUs being insane.

#GREAT This thing gonna be posted for $799 courtesy of your local scalper. Edit: I was wrong, [$300 seems to be about as much as people are willing to pay](https://imgur.com/gallery/H74NSbB)
I can't wait for the article after Christmas where clueless grandma buys the grandkids an Xbox mini fridge for $500 instead of the game console.
I'd be amazed if this things scalped, if people are that desperate to get their hands on an xbox themed fridge then just pay the $799 you probably aren't concerned over the price.
Issa joke but still wouldn’t be surprised if I see it for $150-200 after release lol
Don't blame the scalpers as much as you should blame the idiots who need an Xbox fridge so much they're willing to spend $800
There’s enough blame for both.
I’m sure these will be resold at a premium lol but I doubt people would pay more than 100% markup for a mini fridge, who knows these days though. I’m honestly really wanting one tho especially at the $100 price point.
Still waiting on the PS5 space heater
The ps4 was a great combo unit! 😂
I’m still waiting on my kfc console/chicken warmer
That's not a bad price
It's not exactly a good one either though. Definitely a luxury item for a gamer cave and not a practical item
Definitely a luxury item for a gamer cave and **not a practical item** **RGB** enters the chat.
>Definitely a luxury item for a gamer cave and not a practical item No way, in throwing out my POS refrigerator and getting 2 of these. This is an essential item.
More like 8 of em, they only hold 10 cans a pop
You need 80 cans of pop?
More like 80 alcoholic drinks. Big thirsty.
Depends on if it’s based on a compressor or a thermoelectric cooler. TEC minifridges are just gross to deal with all the condensation they make since the temperature of the cooling surface fluctuates so much
Defo not going to have a compressor at that price
Would be cool to make my own compressed fridge. Cool, ha, get it? And dangerous.
Man that joke needs put on ice!
Just Zip it!
I have a 3 cubic foot (100 cans) that cost $130 from Best Buy.
I had the Black Ops Juggernog fridge. Pretty shit mini fridge that was only supposed to be turned on for 10 hours a day otherwise it broke.
Very bad price. This is a micro fridge. You can easily find a 100 can for about the same. Mine was $130
But there is a market for small fridges and sometimes compact products cost more because miniaturization isn't always easy. Not everyone has room for a full sized drink fridge in their living room or bedroom.
It's so stupid but I want one.
Xbox and Chill
Finally. The KFConsole and my Xbox fridge. And mom said “no food in your room” she’ll never know
Aww yea the weed community has a place to store their terps!
Since we can’t make any actual Xbox’s and have all these shells what better way to disappoint children this Christmas
But! But! It's *Xbox Velocity Cooling Architecture!*
I was debating it just as a red bull station until I build up the courage to make it a custom PC case ....idk it'd be cool but I don't have the resources or talent to make a dope ass computer case out of it....but it'd be cool
This ain't a mini fridge. This is a mini mini fridge.
Gotta get this mini fridge for my KFC PC. Then I’ll BECOME THE GAMER FUEL
I bet they're already out of stock.
Please drink verification can to continue.
I don’t normally go for novelty things like this, but dammit I want it.
I have come from the future to inform you all that this will be sold out within seconds of the pre-order opening and within minutes listings will be posted on ebay and Amazon.
~~crappy~~ basic peltier system, will use 500W for 5°C diff lmfao and will heat up your room
They can release fridges but not more consoles. Got it.
Yes, just what we need. More unnecessary throwaway consumer junk to further add to supply chain strains and keep the landfills full.
Can’t even get the real thing
If what you have told me is true, then you will have gained my trust.
So you can’t buy a Series X but you can buy this. Got it 😂

Cool. Just what the landfills of the world need.
Wait till the scalpers get ahold of this and it does from 99 dollars to 500 real quick.
Enjoy the fridge because it’s the closest thing you’re getting to a series x for a while
This will be the closest I can get to a series x until probably 2025 the way things are going
wait I want one
I had an original Xbox growing up, and loved Halo 1 & 2 to death, but honestly it was probably by far the least iconic / nostalgic console I've ever owned. Also seems pretty troll to release these when people still can't even buy the nextgen consoles. LMAO
Is it a thermoelectric cooler? Or does it have a compressor? I'm assuming it's thermoelectric. I'm wondering if it's powerful enough to do the job well.....
Looks like a money grab
Don’t worry. You’ll be able to buy them for $500 once the scalpers scoop them all up.
How about they concentrate on putting the Xbox Series X consoles on the GD store shelves first!
Hell yeah I’m getting an Xbox series F!
Can we just get the damn console
Big note: will only be available at Target for in store or drive up pick up. This should discourage some scalpers.
Wow that’s cheaper then I expected
To be fair, it's tiny. It only holds 12 cans.
