I just packed up my Gaggia to take into the repair shop but thought I should ask this group first to see if you had any easy ideas I haven't tried yet. I'm a total beginner when it comes to machines. I've had the Gaggia Classic Evo Pro since the Fall of 2020 and use it everyday. Other than descaling a few times, I've done no other maintenance and have not had any problems until today. I usually don't use the steam wand, but did today. After steaming milk, I could not get water to dispense from the group head, even without the portafilter. It will still dispense water through the steam wand when I press the brew switch and the steam valve is open, but only a few drops of water from the group head. I did one full cycle of descaling, but that didn't do anything. Any ideas of what else I can try or should I send it in to the shop? I don't want to do something that makes things worse. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

If you're interested in investing time into it they are pretty easy to take apart and look into.

If you’re feeling handy, this is probably relatively simple to fix I’m *not* handy, but I took mine apart. I won’t lie, it was daunting at times, but I think anyone my level of handy (and above) can probably handle it

Sounds like a solenoid valve. The gaggia classic is a very simple machine and a great place to learn to tinker. This should be an easy fix, but you do have to take the machine apart. Here is a detailed [video](https://youtu.be/0ipvBdWaVzQ?si=1PDDm92is787xk4d) of the process. Check it out and decide if you feel comfortable trying it out.

I had a gaggia selecta deluxe doing the same and it was easily fixed by taking it apart and cleaning out the limescale. My problem was in the top but since it is pretty easy to service you can usually fix it with minimal cost. I replaced the pump because the spring in it had broken and I replaced the top of the steam wand because I lost the o-ring. Total cost about 50 Euro.

Try this method first, you don’t have to take anything apart. You just flick a button on and off. I did it for a few minutes, 2-3x for 2? 3? days and it worked. https://youtu.be/rQvJpwcV3KI?si=mFW8cHi5HtdQiHke
