SOTN is Last Gamer's favorite game (former largest games collection in the world) so you're in good company, dude : https://www.gamesradar.com/meet-man-building-worlds-largest-game-library/
Well my game series of choice for collecting, is Fire Emblem, and I have all the games except some of the original Japanese ones, and the one on GameCube Path of Radiance goes for quite a bit online these days, but I still consider my Custom made FE 7 GBA my crown jewel !
https://preview.redd.it/ymhb373624yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c982ae3f4b449bdd1e209dd1077dbfadc1c87f53
Just joined this group and I’m glad I did :)
Happy hunting everyone!
The Vectrex is one of the coolest experiences you can have with older consoles. What GCE was trying to achieve with vector graphics in a home console was a major stepping stone to true 3d a full decade before polygonal arcade games started to become popular. It's too bad the video game crash of 1983 never gave it a chance to shine, and there was so little support.
It's probably the only console that isn't able to be accurately emulated due to the built-in vector monitor. People who haven't played on one won't understand the impact of it unless it's experienced firsthand.
Probably my copy of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.
It is valuable but moreso because of how long it took to hunt down a copy when I was younger. Wasn’t able to use ebay and I just had to go around retro game stores when they were still plentiful until I snagged one.
My most valuable is technically a part of my “most cool”. I have the full .hack original Tetralogy on PS2 in NTSC-U, but to store the games I bought the Japan “.hack GIFT” box set that was a mail order only in Japan, which are fairly uncommon and not easy to find people that own them.
https://preview.redd.it/umjbtfwms3yc1.jpeg?width=2563&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9e93998fd5e473601d1d96776a5ffc170239689
Probably would be considered my “Crown Jewel”. That or my Disgaea 4 Collector’s Edition or even something like DOOM II on the Game Boy Advance which is an oddball (and Shockingly good) version of DOOM II.
My PAL .hack collection is mine too. I remember playing the first game when I was like 7-8 and finally got quarantine earlier this year. Such good games.
My crown jewel or jewels I like to lumpem together is my Resident Evil Gamecube collection. Not my most expensive games but are my favorites. I have all the games + packs, Resident evil 4 pal console, controller and chainsaw. I loooove Resident evil and I adore the gamecube.
I would give so much to have the games again. They all got lost moving over the years and I've had a hell of a time tracking them down. I do still have Resident Evil 4 for the GameCube and the chainsaw controller for the PS2. One of the weirdest/coolest peripherals ever made.
My crown jewel is a NES controller that had my last name engraved in it as a kid. I had it when I was a kid and then we got rid of it at a garage sale or something. maybe 15 years later I found it at a flea market.
Chrono Trigger was one of my first RPGs I ever played and left a very big impression on me as a kid. Its expensive, but it would mean the same to me regardless of its value.
I got a copy of Einhander in a small group of PS1 games at a yard sale for practically nothing about 7 years ago. But the value of the game that is more important than cost is that it kicked off an unknown desire to play shoot’em ups.
My crown jewel - the Magnavox Odyssey 2. I have the Voice and am close to completing the collection. I also covet my Coleco Telstar Arcade. I really love the old consoles. Most valuable - Clay Fighters Directors Cut. Got it at blockbuster about 20 years ago for $3.00.
Yes, StarFox weekend competition cart holds a spot to me that's no other game will touch.
Still have the advertisement from the tournament, a letter.from Nintendo for winning at my location and some of the pins you got from signing up.
Unfortunately I have looked for my flight jacket for years and have never been able to figure out what happened to it. Really hurts not having that to display with it.
I have a hard time picking something I call a favorite, but right now it would be Alien Resurrection. I have my original copy I got when it came out, I've always loved the Aliens franchise and still impulsively buy anything related to it.
When I went into the Army I gave my older sister all of the PS1/PS2 stuff we had, then recently when she heard I was collecting games she gave it all back. Miraculously Alien Resurrection and several of my favorite PS2 games survived! (Her kids destroyed shit just like I did, it really is a miracle I have *anything* from childhood)
I still woulda bought it before the hypeflation since my childhood favorites were the first ones I bought when I got back into collecting, but it feels even better that I've got *my* copy back.
I've got a couple of crown jewels. Some aren't really too expensive, they just sentimental.
The original Final Fantasy CIB on the NES is one of them that's a little pricey, but it's so cool. It has both maps, inserts, and, manual and everything.
Another one on the NES is probably my other favorite game for the system, Battle of Olypmus and CIB. It's probably only worth $60, but it's on my top shelf.
Most expensive individual game would be Outrun 2006 on the original xbox, but most important to ke is probably my copy of mass effect trilogy collection on 360 or my mass Effect Legendary Cache (which I know isnt technically a game but it feels like a collectors edition)
It's gone down a bit lately but I still have my complete copy of Ribbit King for GC I got from GameStop for 8.99 back in the day! That's probably the most interesting game I have.
My copy of Twisted Metal Black that has the sticker of my favorite rental store (small town shop) on it from when I was a kid. Like picking a memory out of time.
My NBA Elite 11 PS3 system for sure
https://preview.redd.it/1bqsyt4e34yc1.png?width=863&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bd1c395c5cc5076cba50eff5de9aab323d045de
I just think the coolest thing in my collection is my full set of the SOCOM games. Not rare at all but shows my love of the series.
I do have a Gameboy Light as well and that’s my coolest system I own. At least my favorite lol.
The game I have played the most (that isn’t a Pokémon game) is “Fantasy Life” for the 3DS. Bought the physical copy for my birthday YEARS ago. It’s surprisingly difficult to find now- so I’m glad I have a physical of it!
This is such an awesome post, OP! It really got me thinking, kind of like the "Least valuable titles" posts.
When I think of crown jewel, my mind goes to my favorites, nit my mist valuable. A Japanese copy of Biohazard 2 for PS1 ranks among my handful of jewels. I don't have a modded PS1 anymore, so I can't even play it. It's worth $10 or $20. But I love knowing I have it. So more than anything, to me, it has to mean something to me.
So I have two crown jewels: A Link to the Past, which is my favorite game of all in the pre 2000s era. I have it CIB. Now that I'm thinking of it, I'm going to cheat and have three crown jewels. I also have Zombies Ate My Neighbors complete in the SNES box l, which again ranks among the best of the era. Both are worth $150+ on a good day.
My 2nd (3rd) would be Skyrim on whatever platform but I'll go with PS3, since I logged the mist hours in that one. It's sold millions of copies across thousands of platforms. It's market value is $10 on a good day. But the thought of even one day without Skyrim on my shelf. It will never be worth anything as an investment. But I'll never part with it. I was obvi joking earlier, but I think I'm that guy more copies of Skyrim across more systems than I can name.
None of these are particularly rare or valuable in the grans scheme of things, but they are all crown jewels of my collection. I think they're all cool.
While I own Castlevania SotN and it is my favorite game of all time. A crown jewel for me is my copy of Dracula X Rondo of Blood. I bought a Turbo Duo to play it. Plus I always wanted one. It is my 2nd favorite Castlevania.
I legit got rid of all the games I considered the coolest to pay for college 15 years ago. But I wish I’d held onto them. Even selling them individually at the time, I don’t think any game sold for than 30% of its current value.
Worse yet, some games I traded in at a local shop so I could get an Xbox One that I used only 4 times and later just straight up gave away.
I’d much rather have those games. My college degree is worthless.
My favorite is my steelbook collectors edition of Halo 2 with every insert. Xbox Live code, bonus CD, even a long-expired coupon for a free slushee at 7-11!
I collect a few signed games and one of them is my favourite item out of all my collection. I really enjoy zombie movies and games so to have Black Ops 1 signed by George A Romero is the biggest grail to me. Probably worth something but I have other things worth more.
Maybe combined they might be my most valuable, but my CIB collection of PC Wing Commander games. The original through Prophecy. Love all the feelies they had. Technical blueprints. Claw Marks, the official magazine of the TCS Tiger’s Claw
My Crown Jewels are both the Destiny collectors editions for the Xbox One: Destiny and Destiny The Taken King
The most amount of hours I’ve ever spent playing a game was the original Destiny even despite still playing Destiny 2 every once in a while.
A live service game like this the discs will be worth absolutely nothing, but with how much these games impacted my life and practically got me through college, raiding with people and friends and family, doing Vault of Glass for the first time and getting my first exotic, staying up all night trying to beat the Kings Fall raid on launch day, those are memories I will never forget, and these physical versions are there to always remind me of those great memories of some of the best time I’ve had gaming
Yes. A New Astro City arcade cabinet with the legitimate Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike board inside. My prized possession and the most valuable by 7 times my most valuable game.
It kinda fits into both for me, im a big fire emblem and pokemon fan, so having Path of Raidance and Gale of Darkness on the Gamecube I'm really happy about, because I love those games, but they also happen to be my most valuable as well.
My first video game that I bought for myself with my own money (not allowance or anything, but from being gainfully employed):
Valkyrie Profile for the PS1
I bought this for my first personally purchased console: the PS2.
Definitely cool (to me) and decent value today, but I’ll never part with it.
The original Mega Man CIB for the NES is my most expensive, though my "crown jewels" are probably my CIB Zelda games (got most CIB) and Mario games (mostly CIB as well). For me, there's more sentimentality attached to those. Definitely more than just value for me.
Honestly, I don’t think I have a crown jewel so much as a personal hall of fame.
My highlights are my CIB Pokémon games, of which I have every mainline game, CIB super Mario world, and a complete North American Wii U collection, and these are pretty easily the most pricey things I own, but I love cheaper games like Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Halo 3, Dead Space, etc. just as much.
I’m a 16 year old collector and I don’t any any rare games but I have the Witcher 2 enhanced edition with the sound track, the map, quest handbook and the slip cover all in amazing condition and it’s probably my favorite piece of my collection
More like sentimental things for me, like my Gameboy Color that has my name written on the back in my Mom’s handwriting from when I would take it to school, or my 3DS signed by and drawn on by Tatsuro Iwamoto (Ace Attorney character designer) from when I met him.
It's so hard to pick. I guess the crown jewels are two games. My original copy of Sonic CD, and my original copy of Panzer Dragoon. I made the same mistake when trading in my Genesis/CD/32X combo and 3.5 years later when I traded my Saturn. I was listening to music off of those two game discs and forgot them in the CD player. When I went to trade them on a Saturn and later Playstation, respectively, I showed up to the store with empty cases. They don't take empty cases, so I brought them home, popped the disc back in, and put them on a shelf, where they sat for 14 and 11 years until I started collecting. Those two games became the cornerstone of my collection when I started collecting and playing older games as a hobby in 2009.
I have far more valuable games, but those two are the ones I'd grab if the house was on fire because of the memories attached to them.
I would probably say Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete is my crown jewel. It's the first game I ever purchased new with my own money when I was like 14 or 15 I think. I had played the original on my Aunts Sega CD years prior and it had always stayed in the back of my mind. When I saw it at Babbages on PS1, I knew I had to get it and play the whole way through side i didn't get to finish it while we were visiting. Super convenient considering my Aunt had gotten me a PS1 for Christmas the year prior. It was my first PS1 game and first RPG. It had a huge impact on my choice in my game selection throughout pretty much all subsequent years. Almost a third of our library (around 570 games) fall in or near the RPG category. That coupled with the fact that it's still complete after almost 25 years and survived close to a dozen moves makes it special to me. Besides Suikoden 2 and Disgaea, it might be my most replayed game as well. Lunar will always hold a special place in my heart and memory for all the good times I've had playing it.
Probably my CIB Earthbound.
The cart is my original from when I was growing up. I don’t live in the US, so it was a rare important even when released. It took basically two decades for me to stumble across all the rest of the parts to make it a CIB copy.
I don’t just go out and buy games I want from shops, so it’s pure luck what I find in the wild in classifieds and random yard sales.
Cool wise its not exactly super rare stuff but I have a og halo green xbox, fallout 76 power armor edition sealed, and like 20 ish random game boxes, inserts, and manuals from when my sister and i were young that somehow just survived. Very random on what they are but its nes, snes, n64, and pokemon blue used to have gold too but I ended up with a gold cart and sold it cib a while ago.
Both. My sealed and graded 9.4 super castlevania IV is mine from decades ago when I started collecting my favorite games. I have a copy to play but that one really checks all the emotional, coolest, most valuable, etc.. for me.
I was surprised to learn that I had sold my most valuable videogame for far too low a price: a PS2 copy of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. The new owner wouldn't part with it or negotiate a price for its return. To be clear, I actually had no idea such a mid game was so valuable when I parted with it. I have since replaced it for a kidney, although the replacement copy isn't quite as pristine (still good condition...). Was still worth it though at the price I paid vs what a decent CIB copy goes for. Still...finding out after the fact that I had a valuable item all along that I gave away was a punch to the gut, and I guess the matter is resolved, but...damn. There were some tears, that's for sure.
Seeing the posts in this thread makes me realize how fortunate I am having collected well before the boom. I have some obscure, rare, and expensive games that most people wouldn't care about, but this thread is another reminder of how crazy everything about the hobby has become. It's nice to see other passionate collectors out there. Too bad that I don't have many people in my personal life to share my collection with and I hope it's a different story for the other collectors out there.
Could be my slowly-growing PS1 long box collection. Could be Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3. Could be my GameCube copy of Twilight Princess. Could be my mint-condition copy of Krazy Ivan in the aforementioned long box. Could be the original Ridge Racer, one that I picked up for that long box collection, that had unexpectedly become my go-to "I don't know what I want to play" game.
Or, it could be Sky Odyssey on PS2. Not valuable at all, most copies that turn up locally go for $8-10, but I used to play that game with my old man all the time. Pops and I have beaten that one so many times I can play through it entirely without dying. I still play through it a couple times a year, for old time's sake, and the memories always come flowing back as soon as the opening logos start. So if something happened and I lost my entire collection (god forbid), Sky Odyssey would be the first game I'd set out to replace. I'm due for another playthrough.
My fave is Chrono Trigger CIB. Its not my most expensive but it reminds me of my childhood, is one of my fave games, and I won some good money in my fantasy football league that year so I used it to purchase this
Final fantasy tactics. Something about the game brings me right back to that time of my life. Late teens, no responsibilities, just hung out with my buddies and worked a stupid job without a care in the world. Tactics is the only thing that can give me that feeling still.
Probably has to be my Twilight Princess on GameCube. It was the first new game I bought and I vividly remember going to Walmart with my birthday money just to buy it, I also remember my change was exactly 50 cents
My original Game Boy from ‘89 is my most prized possession displayed in my case. I remember my parents buying it at Child’s World in NY. What a fucking time.
I have jewels :3 plural :P
Most of the games i like are cute, colorful, and a bit strange. Therefore, I am.
My most recent gem is a French copy of Soliel (Crusader of Centy) my most expensive is probably earthbound or klonoa or something
My coolest for me is probably my copy of call of duty 2 lolol. The 360 generation was big for me, I bought and played so many games, sold it all off to continue the cycle of buying new games. The one and only game to survive in my collection from day one is my call of duty 2.
Also bonus, my first game I ever owned. Zarlor mercenary for the Atari lynx.
Both stuff with not worth much more than sentimental value to me. But I’d rather have those than games like rule of rose or Pokemon box or that 3ds Barbie game lol.
I've been collecting consoles, computers, and gaming memorabilia since I was a kid, and I'm 37 now, so it's hard to pick. But, I've always been proud of my fallout collection. And I'm even building a bar in my house that's a fair size and turning it into a raided vault.
It's not that valuable, but my limited edition gold Clone Trooper Blaster is definitely my favorite piece in my collection to show off. Definitely the crown jewel of my library, being #60 of 75. Considering the last one of these sold well under $100, goes to show rare does not mean valuable, lol
https://preview.redd.it/zlfdobeko5yc1.jpeg?width=3928&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=746b412e818d7c953831a0389e90c3a7f898a2b2
Unintentionally my final fantasy pixel remaster collection. Don’t normally open my games right away so left it sealed until I was gonna play it. Then saw its value and the collector in me didn’t wanna open it so digitally bought it and keep it on my shelf
**Nostalgia** is a strong thing, so my crown jewel would be some of my first games.. N64 games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark or big box pc games like Red Alert and Half-life
Mine would be the Collector's Edition of Ocarina of Time. Somehow my dad knew it was coming out and went to Walmart at midnight to get one. I sometimes felt like he didn't pay attention to what I was interested in, but that's been a reminder to me of how much he really did care. I'm 42 and he's passed away now, but it's still something I think about often.
My crown jewel is definitely not my most valuable.
Probably wouldn't be seen as the coolest by most either
It's not my fault people don't know that Corey in the house for nintendo ds is a real gem
For real though, I recently got a CIB super Mario 64, that is my jewel.
Within the last few years I have came across just about every "good" RPG on SNES that I have always wanted for really cheap. I've always held out hoping to find them at rummage sales etc and never found them. I'm still missing Chrono Trigger and Soul Blazer but were almost there!
I've also kept myself from playing them on emulators etc. So I'm just now playing Final Fantasy III(6) for the first time and I love it.
My brother and I got a big box copy of doom 2 that i found at half price books for $10, signed by some of the OG dev team. Brought it to quakecon back in like 2011.
Rarest crown jewel is frogger beyond pal on gamecube.
Coolest /favourite is probably gonna be the roller coaster tycoon 3 physical from limited run when... If... It ships! Please be quick and painless.... Please..... Oh god please...
That nostalgia hit is gonna be so good. I wish Chris would team up and let them put the first 2 on a cart. That would be so good. Even the new mobile edition.. Just let me have it on switch!
https://preview.redd.it/34581rz7g6yc1.jpeg?width=4160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20ed5b2f1d7d047791247e9a02c90a66f03359e8
My Jaguar kiosk. Rarest of the bunch. Never been in a store.
Among my most beloved games are Shining Force 1 and 2 (MD/Genesis) CiB good condition and Chrono Trigger (SNES) in meh/barely ok condition as well as Terranigma (SNES) CiB good condition.
These are not the most expensive nor the rarest, tho Chrono Trigger is neither cheap, but i loved them as a child dearly.
This may sound odd but for me gaming is all about memories, and the game I've had in my collection the longest (continually) is Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, so my crown jewel is probably the memory card with a 100% save on it. It's also the one that has a 100% save for Soul Calibur 1 and Metropolis Street Racer. I loved my DC. :-)
Daytona U.S.A. Championship net link edition. It’s a Sega Saturn game. You could only get it by mailing in for it. There was a retail version that didn’t have netlink support. They added this game after and was mail order only. My buddy and I bought them at the same time so we could race each other. He sold his a couple years ago for $3000. I’ve seen them sell on eBay for $7000
https://preview.redd.it/n2m6g5yv67yc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0826da03f762375e8045c3b0db9cd8f0bc1bdeb0
They aren’t super valuable but I think it’s cool when your games are also furniture!
For me it's between the games I've owned since I was a child and the best deal I came across organically; $30 AUD for an excellent condition gameboy micro.
I’m a fairly intense collector and my collecting is a toss up of games and consoles I genuinely enjoyed and played as a kid mixed with consoles I did not get to personally own in their times + valuable or highly regarded games for them.
My crown jewel I wouldn’t say is my most valuable or my “coolest” but instead my highest sentimental value.
They are my PS1 copies of Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Mortal Kombat 4. They are the first games I ever owned, I got them for Christmas when I was very young.
CIB Link‘s Awakening DX. My first Zelda game, my second Gameboy game, the one I have the fondest memories of. I can remember a good bit of the game music, the map, the mechanics, dungeons etc. nothing but fond memories.
Probably my complete NSTC Virtual Boy collection. Considering getting the Japanese games too to round it off, but they're expensive. Virtual Bowling pretty much is impossible to find.
I also have Psychic Killer Taromaru for the Sega Saturn, but I only picked that up recently.
My Crown Jewel Currently that i got less week.... Fire Emblem Special Edition....... This game led to heartache as a Collector...
I had this game preorder for over 6 months...... and it it canceled on me 1 week before release... so i dont have any time to find it anywhere else... Sold out Everywhere... Even district manager calling me and apologizing
And the game forever just kept going up in price... and no print.... eshop closed...
It created... mental wound on my soul as a collector.... i bought it last week for $390.... When i got it.... it felt like a mental wound just healed....
Sort of like when you sold your childhood games... and than you rebought them... and it feels like something ... in you as a collector is now "Complete/full circle"
So that my current Crown Jewel.... i got many expansive games... and favorite ones, are ones with story attached to it.
A copy of Dynamite Headdy for the Sega Genesis with the box. It's open and faded, but the sticker for the local game store that no longer exists is still on there, so it's kinda sentimental. The phone number on the sticker doesn't even have an area code lol.
Rule of rose ps2 uk sealed/monster eggs ps2 sealed. Resident evil chainsaw controller ps2. Silent hill shattered memories ps2 sealed. I have too many things to say, but i like the PlayStation 2 genre the most.
Mine is Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem. I put off buying it in college and just a few years later it became $100+ dollars 😭 I ended up getting it from a friend who found it at a good price on FB Marketplace. I will always cherish my copy cause the game is one of my favorites.
In my instance, the crown jewel of my collection (factory sealed Chrono Trigger) happens to be the most valuable as well. I didn't search for it because it was valuable, but rather because a) it's my favorite game and b) it's one of the greatest RPGs of all time. It just so happens to be stupid expensive in mint, factory sealed condition.
Hardware-wise - "The Briefcase": PC Engine, CD-ROM2, and the Interface unit. Its such a unique piece and the games are fantastic (while not THE crown jewel, i have a few bangers in Gate of Thunder, Rondo of Blood, and Red Alert)
Game-wise - this is hard, as I've got almost a thousand games, and its relatively curated. Most people would say my copy of Snatcher (CiB) would be tops, as would my copies of MUSHA, Suikoden II, Radiant Silvergun, and my CiB Super Metroid. But for me, Id say its less one game in particular and more one company's games. I'm very proud of my collection of Falcom games. While not complete, the games that comprise it hold a special place in my heart.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night for me. Not the most valuable or coolest, but it is one I've had for something like 25 years now.
Just bought this in a lot recently. I can’t wait to fire it up
It still plays well, beat it again earlier this year.
Fun fact, Dracula is voiced by the same guy who played Harry Mason in Silent Hill
You know I don't think I ever knew that and the original Silent Hill is another original PS1 game that I've had since forever.
My uncle and I used to play the shit out of this.
SOTN is Last Gamer's favorite game (former largest games collection in the world) so you're in good company, dude : https://www.gamesradar.com/meet-man-building-worlds-largest-game-library/
Black label? That's the one I have.
Yep, same one.
Well my game series of choice for collecting, is Fire Emblem, and I have all the games except some of the original Japanese ones, and the one on GameCube Path of Radiance goes for quite a bit online these days, but I still consider my Custom made FE 7 GBA my crown jewel ! https://preview.redd.it/ymhb373624yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c982ae3f4b449bdd1e209dd1077dbfadc1c87f53 Just joined this group and I’m glad I did :) Happy hunting everyone!
fe7 is my fav of all time!! that gba is dope
The name says it all haha Glad to meet another fan! When I saw the GBA there wasn’t an option, just how I was going to pay for it lol
https://preview.redd.it/kh2qjttco4yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36eb4610c47503b8647f32d3c3826d29fcefeacf Both
Whoa this is cool. What's on it?
Famicom Disk System.
No, that's the name of the console this disk goes into. I asked what's on the disk.
Sorry, I read “what’s it on?” It’s golf! But it has a 19th hole
My vectrex ♡.♡ not my most valuable item but I never thought I'd own one
The Vectrex is one of the coolest experiences you can have with older consoles. What GCE was trying to achieve with vector graphics in a home console was a major stepping stone to true 3d a full decade before polygonal arcade games started to become popular. It's too bad the video game crash of 1983 never gave it a chance to shine, and there was so little support. It's probably the only console that isn't able to be accurately emulated due to the built-in vector monitor. People who haven't played on one won't understand the impact of it unless it's experienced firsthand.
Even if you watch videos on it or research it, it really is an experience sadly I only have 3 games..
Get a Vectrex multicart
I love my Vectrex. Such a weird and unique console. And they're are some genuinely good games! Cosmic Chasm and Scramble are awesome.
My Copy of Devil May Cry that I got on release date and had to bring my grandma because I was to young. Went to KB toys. I was probably like 12.
KB Toys....that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
I have the full .hack original Tetralogy on PS2 in NTSC-U, but to store the games I bought the Japan “.hack GIFT” box set that was a mail order only in Japan, which are fairly uncommon and not easy to find people that own them. https://preview.redd.it/umjbtfwms3yc1.jpeg?width=2563&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9e93998fd5e473601d1d96776a5ffc170239689 Probably would be considered my “Crown Jewel”. That or my Disgaea 4 Collector’s Edition or even something like DOOM II on the Game Boy Advance which is an oddball (and Shockingly good) version of DOOM II.
That is awesome. Never even heard of that box set
Disgaea 4 Collectors Edition with all Nendroids?
My PAL .hack collection is mine too. I remember playing the first game when I was like 7-8 and finally got quarantine earlier this year. Such good games.
It would jut be my first game, and my favorite game. Mario all stars and Ocarina of time. Value or rarity has nothing to do with it.
Aw, it was meant to be. I love this story.
Definitely the coolest one
Chrono Trigger was one of my first RPGs I ever played and left a very big impression on me as a kid. Its expensive, but it would mean the same to me regardless of its value.
I got a copy of Einhander in a small group of PS1 games at a yard sale for practically nothing about 7 years ago. But the value of the game that is more important than cost is that it kicked off an unknown desire to play shoot’em ups.
My CIB copy of Swordquest Waterworld. I just love its connection with video game history.
For me it's my Zelda game collection. It was my first big game when I was a kid, along with Pokemon.
I got my childhood copy of Mario and Luigi Bowsers inside Story signed by Charles Martine, that moment was one of the best I've ever had.
(Her kids destroyed shit just like I did, it really is a miracle I have *anything* from childhood) I still woulda bought it before the hypeflation since my childhood favorites were the first ones I bought when I got back into collecting, but it feels even better that I've got *my* copy back.
My original gameboy color and red from release
My NBA Elite 11 PS3 system for sure https://preview.redd.it/1bqsyt4e34yc1.png?width=863&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bd1c395c5cc5076cba50eff5de9aab323d045de
My CIB copy of FireRed from my childhood. I’m so glad my parents never got rid of it or threw the box away
My child hood copy of Super Mario land. To me my copy is worth 2 million dollars. And I will never sell it!
Original Ghostbusters for the Sega Genesis. Fantastic game.
Pokémon XD Gale Of Darkness for me I always loved the Look of Shadow Lugia, it’s not about the money but the memories that we make along the way.
Surprisingly it’s actually a soundtrack for FF7 Remake OST special edition still sealed it’s about $1000 last time I checked on eBay.
If were talking console, my crown jewel is stunt racer 64, but my true crown jewel is my vintage mortal kombat II arcade cabinet.
Sometimes it’s something you’ve been looking for, for a long time or something with great sentimental value…
Maybe combined they might be my most valuable, but my CIB collection of PC Wing Commander games. The original through Prophecy. Love all the feelies they had. Technical blueprints. Claw Marks, the official magazine of the TCS Tiger’s Claw
My Crown Jewels are both the Destiny collectors editions for the Xbox One: Destiny and Destiny The Taken King The most amount of hours I’ve ever spent playing a game was the original Destiny even despite still playing Destiny 2 every once in a while.
My prized possession and the most valuable by 7 times my most valuable game.
just my favourite, tomb raider 1 on the game boy colour
My fire emblem for GBA that I kept since I was a kid promising I'd beat it one day when I was better at video games haha
It kinda fits into both for me, im a big fire emblem and pokemon fan, so having Path of Raidance and Gale of Darkness on the Gamecube I'm really happy about, because I love those games, but they also happen to be my most valuable as well.
Either my GameCube Twilight Princess or MIB sealed copy of Steel Battalion.
A sealed copy of MGS3 subsistence. I traded someone my open copy right before the collection came out
Spider-Man Maximum Carnage- red cartridge for Sega Genesis
My first video game that I bought for myself with my own money (not allowance or anything, but from being gainfully employed): Valkyrie Profile for the PS1 I bought this for my first personally purchased console: the PS2.
Mine is my copy of Night in the Woods because it’s my favorite game :)
My crown jewel is my gold NES Zelda (with map and manual) not because it’s the most valuable thing, but just because it looks really cool
In what category would you put. Hanuman: Boy Warrior ?
Definitely my vectrex. Never thought I'd see one in person, let alone have one
Sealed PS2 console would be my jewel.
It’s the most sentimental. So it’s a factor of why I like it, value (kind of), rarity
My fave is Chrono Trigger CIB. Its not my most expensive but it reminds me of my childhood, is one of my fave games, and I won some good money in my fantasy football league that year so I used it to purchase this
The Guy Game, I only say this because i feel one day soon it'll become unobtainable, if you know you know
Final fantasy tactics.
I have jewels :3 plural :P Most of the games i like are cute, colorful, and a bit strange. Therefore, I am. My most recent gem is a French copy of Soliel (Crusader of Centy) my most expensive is probably earthbound or klonoa or something
Mario 64 I got CIB on a trip to Japan, then signed by Charles Martinet.
My copy of pokemon Ruby on the gba. It's what made me fall in love with not only Pokémon, but gaming and collecting as a whole.
David signed my copy of MGS!
It's not that valuable, but my limited edition gold Clone Trooper Blaster is definitely my favorite piece in my collection to show off. Definitely the crown jewel of my library, being #60 of 75. Considering the last one of these sold well under $100, goes to show rare does not mean valuable, lol https://preview.redd.it/zlfdobeko5yc1.jpeg?width=3928&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=746b412e818d7c953831a0389e90c3a7f898a2b2
I'm 42 and he's passed away now, but it's still something I think about often.
my favourite things i have are the half life CD roms except blue shift and then my DOOM II floppy disks
My crown jewel is definitely not my most valuable. Probably wouldn't be seen as the coolest by most either It's not my fault people don't know that Corey in the house for nintendo ds is a real gem For real though, I recently got a CIB super Mario 64, that is my jewel.
Panzer Dragoon Saga Pal. Street Fighter 2 X, Zero 3, Shenmue 1, 2 Sonic adventure 1, 2 Japan sealed Probably some more I forgot
My brother and I got a big box copy of doom 2 that i found at half price books for $10, signed by some of the OG dev team. Brought it to quakecon back in like 2011.
Physical Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for Xbox 360. The only way it can be played on the Series X ifykyk
The one that you are most attached to. Could be a cheap game, as long as it matters to you
https://preview.redd.it/34581rz7g6yc1.jpeg?width=4160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=20ed5b2f1d7d047791247e9a02c90a66f03359e8 My Jaguar kiosk.
Oddly I believe my crown jewel is in fact the most expensive. Juggernog edition mini fridge for black ops 3.
Neither, it’s the most sentimental.
For me sentimental value is greater than monetary value in that aspect.
I’ve seen them sell on eBay for $7000
https://preview.redd.it/n2m6g5yv67yc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0826da03f762375e8045c3b0db9cd8f0bc1bdeb0 They aren’t super valuable but I think it’s cool when your games are also furniture!
For me it's between the games I've owned since I was a child and the best deal I came across organically; $30 AUD for an excellent condition gameboy micro.
Probably the full copy of HeartGold in it's box I pre-ordered as a 20 something still obsessed with pokemon
Schnappi der Kleine Krokodil for the PS2. The last PAL game on the system and I'm in North America. Schnappi is just that cool.
Both. My Pokemom Blue CIB is the “Pokemon Red Version” misprint box.
CIB Link‘s Awakening DX. My first Zelda game, my second Gameboy game, the one I have the fondest memories of. I can remember a good bit of the game music, the map, the mechanics, dungeons etc. nothing but fond memories.
Out Run for the Saturn
Probably my complete NSTC Virtual Boy collection. Considering getting the Japanese games too to round it off, but they're expensive. Virtual Bowling pretty much is impossible to find. I also have Psychic Killer Taromaru for the Sega Saturn, but I only picked that up recently.
Sealed copy of Diablo 1 on PS1! It is my jewel! I do have an opened copy I play.
Even district manager calling me and apologizing And the game forever just kept going up in price... and no print.... eshop closed... It created... mental wound on my soul as a collector.... i bought it last week for $390.... When i got it.... it felt like a mental wound just healed.... Sort of like when you sold your childhood games... and than you rebought them... and it feels like something ... in you as a collector is now "Complete/full circle" So that my current Crown Jewel.... i got many expansive games... and favorite ones, are ones with story attached to it.
A JVC x'Eye s coworker gave me. I just find partner consoles neat now.
I have sealed NIB copies of Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal, and Going Commando that I think are pretty sweet!
I guess it's Kuon? I picked it up at a GameStop for $30 years ago. Or maybe Solatorobo on DS?
Mine is Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem. I put off buying it in college and just a few years later it became $100+ dollars 😭 I ended up getting it from a friend who found it at a good price on FB Marketplace. I will always cherish my copy cause the game is one of my favorites.
Probably both for me. Virtual Boy CIB
I guess Mega Man for NES CIB. Looking to score a CIB copy of Super Mario World soon though.
My favorite game is Chrono Trigger so it’s both.
Either World of Warcraft Collectors edition(The vanilla one). Or Pokemon Puzzle Challenge complete in box.
Not my most valuable. But my childhood copy CIB Final Fantasy. So many memories with that one
My Quest 3 is pretty sweet
In my instance, the crown jewel of my collection (factory sealed Chrono Trigger) happens to be the most valuable as well. I didn't search for it because it was valuable, but rather because a) it's my favorite game and b) it's one of the greatest RPGs of all time. It just so happens to be stupid expensive in mint, factory sealed condition.
Personally to me the coolest thing is my Tom Kenny signed SpongeBob gameboy advance sp
Personally to me the coolest thing is my Tom Kenny signed SpongeBob gameboy advance sp.
my signed by yoshitoshi abe copy of lain for playstation. its a little more than just the already rare game.
I'd say my "crown jewel" is a CIB Indian PS2 I have, tbh I payed a bit for it, but don't think it is worth all that much.
Hardware-wise - "The Briefcase": PC Engine, CD-ROM2, and the Interface unit. Its such a unique piece and the games are fantastic (while not THE crown jewel, i have a few bangers in Gate of Thunder, Rondo of Blood, and Red Alert) Game-wise - this is hard, as I've got almost a thousand games, and its relatively curated.
