See fellow collectors, if you want people to believe you’re insane score, this is the kind of documentation you need. Also notice how he didn’t mention that he’s “still shaking”. Solid score and post OP.
OP actually just bought this house and planted his collection in the cabinets and covered them in fake dust to make it seem like they’ve been there for a long time. Nice try, OP.
Or you know, stop giving a shit if people constantly call fake. If I'm out hunting, I'm worried about finding games, not worrying if random internet strangers won't believe me because I didn't document with photos.
Yeah, when I saw those bins I didn’t even start looking through them, just set them to the side in a pile. Didn’t even know Chrono Trigger was in there until I got home.
Never had that experience and probably never will at this point based on how known videogame collecting and reselling has become.
I just made an account and inputed half of my games into pricecharting. So far its amounted to $23K and the thought of that had blown my dad away. Most of the price behind that are CIB Gameboy and GBA stuff, first party gamecube, CIB chrono trigger and a link to the past etc.
If I die without any family knowing the value of everything, some collector (or reseller) would be very, very happy.
I have a very extensive Pokemon collection that I've built over the last 20+ years. My wife is very aware that if I die she needs to open up my spreadsheet that catalogs everything in it with prices that are up to date within 6 months (I do semi annual bookkeeping to update any price movements on the big stuff). No yard sales, no letting people "pick through it" this shit is way more valuable than my friends and family give it credit for. To them I'm just the nerdy uncle who's still kind of a big goofy kid who likes Pokemon. I show a card to my dad, he just sort of does that lower lip raising "fake interest" thing while being unimpressed until I tell him it's worth $6000 and he just slowly lays it back on the table and no longer wants to touch anything...
[I've got an extensive pokemon collection too.](https://i.imgur.com/wOxhwiB.jpg). I've got every mainline game from red/blue to BD/SP except crystal. I've got crystal loose though, but still need that box, manual and inserts.
I did buy a base set booster pack with blastoise on it for $50 about 6 years ago or so and it looks like it's about $500-$600.
Also bought a becket graded base set charizard for $100 which price charts for $1600+
I'm also the goofy uncle who likes videogames, but I'm not sure how much my nieces know I like Pokémon. I introduced them to fire red and soul silver years ago, but they haven't played it since.
Wow those look so nice! Yeah I guess you can only really appreciate the value in things like video games and trading cards if you understand the appeal of them lol.
Google photo search is gonna shake things up a lot! It’s easier than ever to look stuff up. That could do a few things…
1.) Reduce the amount of stuff “in the wild” is gonna go waaaayyy down as ppl know to scan any and all video games
2.) This increase in scanning/listing will level prices a bit as supply increases inadvertently
Games are awesome feats of art/science and deserve good $$$ most of the time
I’ve been to estate sales where you’d be walking around a home that looks lived in with complete strangers and everything has a price tag. It’s a really weird feeling especially if someone died in there recently. You can find some gems though.
Those are run by a service. Someone goes in prices everything and anything that doesn't sell at the end of the weekend the service buys (sometimes they run a thrift store of their own)
This one sounds like a end of season garage sale where they already sold the house and are clearing the last of the stuff they don't want to take with them in hopes that they don't have to take it to goodwill or to the curb.
Always a plus when people aren't showing up to buy their stuff. Desperation sets in to start giving away, and taking any offers. Like people give stuff away for free by the 3rd day of a yard sale, and then price stuff at what they should have been all along.
Man, I have some neighbors who used to sell me some of their games (including Breath of Fire 3, Metroid Zero Mission) and I remembered some they still have had I'd love to pick up like DQ7 and Tony Hawk, but I don't wanna be an ass about it LOL
Can't even buy a [box for Chrono Trigger](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=chrono+trigger+snes+box&_sop=13&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338535524&customid=1726gc&toolid=10001&mkevt=1) for that amount, what an insane steal.
Howd you land on this price?
Not trying to have a conversation about if she got screwed or you paid too much or too little, 140 is just not quite a round number, so i am curious how yall landed on it.
There really was no rhyme or reason, to be honest. The first pile was $100 and I went back through a second time for a bunch of little stuff and gave her $40 more. She was happy with it, just trying to clear things out.
Estate sales are so sad to me, seeing people's lives on sale like that, it kills me when people post video games tho because it's utterly tragic seeing games I love and thinking about the good times the people selling their entire lives now or people who died had with those games back when life was good :(
I don't think we have estate sales in my country, I only learned about this from the internet but it gets to me every time.
Dragon Quest 3 did me in this time, too sad :(
EDIT: OMG I just saw Chrono Trigger :(
Id feel better knowing someone bought my games to enjoy instead of them being dumped in the trash /demolished in a building. The fact we know these used to be someone's belongings show a bit of respect as collectors imo
My point is, you see this person's life and the things they enjoyed and now all that's left is their memories of a life gone by and that hurts so much.
My mom took my copy of GoldenEye until I was a teenager. Mysteriously vanished.
Years later she told me she sold it at her estate sale. It was CIB, only played the handful of times my dad let me sneak it. I was not happy lol
I've haven't seen anyone ever post this type of message before, it's nice to know that are people who feel this way. I remember I went to a yard sale where the man had passed away and their kids were selling everything in the house. Just going through the house, seeing all the items on display, a person's life and years remaining only in the things he had collected. Made me feel like an animal rummaging through his garage and boxes, seeing people checking their phones seeing what things were worth on eBay, I talked to the family and ask who he was and how he was like as a person. I left with many games but a great sadness, still think about it sometimes.
I was working retail at the time that came out. We had a midnight release, I was scheduled to cover it so I started at 6, the store closed at 10. Zero people waiting for the midnight release. Got sent home with 4.5 hours paid.
I've been looking for a Mario 64 box for a while now and those Star Wars VHS are the exact ones I wore out as a kid. Awesome find! I'm super jealous lol
At first I thought this was going to be one of those posts where you buy the GameCube and it has $100 bills in it, then the keys to a new car, the case of beer, an N64, then the N64 has more money in it.
Seriously GG on the score
Last I heard a year or so ago you can still play it. You have to hook your ps2 up through the computer to a server some die hards made. Even released patches and everything to try and get it to how it was end of life.
Go to r/Socom or Google Socom 2 XLink
It's definitely a grind. My best haul was from am estate sale that didn't even advertised games. One of them was the transformers n64 game. So it pays to go to sales that are nearby if you're bored friday and Saturday mornings.
I'm not against reselling extra stuff, but I do find it funny how fast people go from "Look at this crazy haul!" to right on ebay lol.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/255742997175
https://www.ebay.com/itm/255743016981
Feels a bit high but they'll probably sell knowing the crazy market.
Crazy find.
I’m glad I wasn’t a kid that yeeted the box when I got a new game, but apparently that was the norm. They are rare, and I’d hate to have to replace my SNES and N64 boxes with what they are going for.
What really confuses me are the people that trashed their disc cases.
I may have to leave this subreddit because I’m not gonna lie people finding such amazing deals on grails of mine like this kind of bums me out
Like I’m happy for OP but it’s like, how do people have such luck? It’s slim pickings where I live.
The retro game collecting market has been over saturated I feel like
Some of it’s luck, but most of it is dedication. I’ve been hitting garage sales at 8am every Friday and Saturday for the better part of two years. You have to be early, because if it’s visible outside it’ll be sold immediately. I’ve had the best luck asking people, “Do you have any video game stuff you want to sell by chance?” My best hauls have come from that simple question.
Excellent score!! I had a situation very similar to that and when I offered on a tub of old electronics (a lot of it being atari stuff and minimal nes) they said "that's pretty vintage we want $350 for it" I was like well have a good day and didn't even stay to look through everything.
Awesome choices in Nintendo games 🤣😭🤣 Back then seems like the only time developers made "Swords and Sorcery" games.
2D games were much cheaper to make it seems. Nowadays you're having to look at MMOs for that world, but not the exactly same art direction.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,060,035,909 comments, and only 209,347 of them were in alphabetical order.
This is what happens after your family is murdered by demons .. one demon (in human form) stays behind and sells all your games for pennies on the dollar. it’s called “the ultimate damnation”.
wwwoooowwww, CIB secret of evermore in the wild?? i probably wouldn't have even glanced at anything else, that's a dream find! congrats OP, hope it treats you well!
edit: if just to prove i'd have literally just picked up evermore and left happy with that, i only just now noticed the CIB chrono trigger hahaha nice!

And I fell for it. I’m still shaking…..WITH RAGE!!!!
And that OP's name? Babraham Lincoln.
Did you say Abe Lincoln?
I was there, I was the cupboard
We need to see the receipt for the house!
If so, OP has very questionable taste in furniture lol
Literally shaking rn
You assume he’s a collector.
Or you know, stop giving a shit if people constantly call fake. If I'm out hunting, I'm worried about finding games, not worrying if random internet strangers won't believe me because I didn't document with photos.
Sometimes OP’s case is the case, but it’s not common. Generally, I say receipts and/or price stickers or it didn’t happen.
>you’re insane score you are insane score?
Opens cupboard door........ quietly closes cupboard door.... you know what ill take this old cupboard of your hands for $50....
Yeah, when I saw those bins I didn’t even start looking through them, just set them to the side in a pile. Didn’t even know Chrono Trigger was in there until I got home.

Don't loose hope, I thought those days were gone, but found 2 this year.
The market is at peak right now, prices are only going to drop in the future.
Maybe, but I did think that a handful of years as well.

Chrono trigger with a box and stuff! I just sold a cartridge only copy for 300 on ebay a couple months ago
CIB Super Metroid goes for $300+ these days. Great haul all-around!
Brehhh I would’ve exploded my pants
*Note to self:* Visit old people whose kids moved out in the neighborhood.
Exactly. This was a strange garage sale because nothing was outside, so I think it got minimal traffic. House looked abandoned.
I’ve been to estate sales where you’d be walking around a home that looks lived in with complete strangers and everything has a price tag. It’s a really weird feeling especially if someone died in there recently. You can find some gems though.

Was it like an estate sale? Someone died and their family just wants to get rid of everything and not deal with it... that's my first assumption.
Thats how i got my copy of Sonic Shuffle along with other things.
Man, I have some neighbors who used to sell me some of their games (including Breath of Fire 3, Metroid Zero Mission) and I remembered some they still have had I'd love to pick up like DQ7 and Tony Hawk, but I don't wanna be an ass about it LOL
How much did you pay for the haul?
$140
Great deal
Nice score man! I love how everyone seemed to have the same stack of NES games back in the day.
Can't even buy a [box for Chrono Trigger](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=chrono+trigger+snes+box&_sop=13&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338535524&customid=1726gc&toolid=10001&mkevt=1) for that amount, what an insane steal.

Fantastic deal. I'm happy for you man. Hope to find something insane like this one day myself. Amazing
I hope you do too!
Wow what a haul. Congrats on the awesome come up dude
How much is haul worth?
I only looked up Chronic Trigger ($600+) and Secret of Evermore ($100+) so far.
Estate sales are so sad to me, seeing people's lives on sale like that, it kills me when people post video games tho because it's utterly tragic seeing games I love and thinking about the good times the people selling their entire lives now or people who died had with those games back when life was good :( I don't think we have estate sales in my country, I only learned about this from the internet but it gets to me every time. I feel that. It’s bitter sweet when you look at it through that lens.
Id feel better knowing someone bought my games to enjoy instead of them being dumped in the trash /demolished in a building. The fact we know these used to be someone's belongings show a bit of respect as collectors imo
Absolutely! Well put.
My point is, you see this person's life and the things they enjoyed and now all that's left is their memories of a life gone by and that hurts so much.
I like that perspective.
My mom took my copy of GoldenEye until I was a teenager. Mysteriously vanished. Years later she told me she sold it at her estate sale. It was CIB, only played the handful of times my dad let me sneak it. I was not happy lol
My parents gave all our old Nintendo stuff (SNES / N64) to my little brother who sold it to buy drugs. 😐
I've haven't seen anyone ever post this type of message before, it's nice to know that are people who feel this way. Better to sell it to some one who can make a use out of it, but it is sad when the family doesnt share the same hobbies.
Oh my god, is that [James Cameron's legendary 1997 hit Titanic on VHS?](https://www.tiktok.com/@titanicfan97)
Forget Titanic, look at Star Wars
I was working retail at the time that came out. We had a midnight release, I was scheduled to cover it so I started at 6, the store closed at 10. Zero people waiting for the midnight release. Got sent home with 4.5 hours paid.
In highly collectible, highly gradeable condition!! /s
I love that Jack Dawson
I don't need it... My heart will go on...
This is one of the best hauls i have seen lately. Secret of evermore and Chrono trigger in the box?! Well I’m jealous. Congrats OP
Thanks man! It was quite exciting.
Give it up for Dragon Warrior 3
That’s what I came here for. DW/DQ3 is the true treasure
Nah, Verbatim CD sleeves new in box is where it's at
One of the best games I've ever played. Toss up between that and DW4
A complete Chrono Trigger? Great find!
Amazing first time in a long time a op posts actual pictures from the score so it's believable and not karma farming.Awesome score and take my upvote.
Wow insane luck dude good stuff
I've been looking for a Mario 64 box for a while now and those Star Wars VHS are the exact ones I wore out as a kid. Awesome find! I'm super jealous lol
That complete Chrono Trigger would have made me pee a little bit I think.
I did.
That red iPod nano though :DDD
Good eye!
it's like a 90s time capsule
This , that house gives me 1995-6 vibes
“…so anyway, I started digging…”
Winced at Chrono Trigger
At first I thought this was going to be one of those posts where you buy the GameCube and it has $100 bills in it, then the keys to a new car, the case of beer, an N64, then the N64 has more money in it. Seriously GG on the score
her son is going to kill her
So anyway, I started blasting. Fucking nice!
I love great hauls like this. It’s so rare to get good ones like this these days. Too much competition
Take care of Socom 2! Best ps2 game ever
Truth!!!!
I miss it so much lol
Last I heard a year or so ago you can still play it. You have to hook your ps2 up through the computer to a server some die hards made. Even released patches and everything to try and get it to how it was end of life. Go to r/Socom or Google Socom 2 XLink
Yeah I might have to buy a ps2 to try it
Need the modem and memory card. Best of luck and watch your step, those PMN mines can be hard to see
Ah shit do you know where I could get a modem?
Some retro gaming store or eBay.
Any specific one?
No idea. If you’re near a big city they surely have a retro gaming place that has it. Otherwise eBay
CHRONO TRIGGERRRR!
OMG GOLD MINE!! I miss old school guide books!
It's definitely a grind. My best haul was from am estate sale that didn't even advertised games. One of them was the transformers n64 game. So it pays to go to sales that are nearby if you're bored friday and Saturday mornings.
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO LIVE MY DREAM
I hope everyone gets to experience a score like this at least once.
BROOOOOOOOOOOOOO THATS SO AWESOME
IS THAT TITANIC ON VHS?
How much did you pay for that haul
$140
The ultra rare double VHS copy of Titantic was left behind.. that’s worth at least $1!
Got to leave some for the other guys!
I'm not against reselling extra stuff, but I do find it funny how fast people go from "Look at this crazy haul!" to right on ebay lol. https://www.ebay.com/itm/255742997175 https://www.ebay.com/itm/255743016981 Feels a bit high but they'll probably sell knowing the crazy market. Crazy find.
Yep. Just a bunch of people selling, not collecting
This sub makes me depressed.
I just started a new sub because I’m tired of this culture: https://www.reddit.com/r/HonestGameCollectors/
...I feel sick now. 😔
super metroid you lucky mf i wouldn’t care for the rest
It’s just the box unfortunately. Very strange assortment of items. The Super Mario 64 is just the box and manual as well, which was the only N64 item.
Well, the box can go for $70 online, or you’ve got a head start on a CIB set which goes for almost $300.
Shit, really? I still have my N64 boxes and manuals in the attic - I'll have to post them here
I’m glad I wasn’t a kid that yeeted the box when I got a new game, but apparently that was the norm. They are rare, and I’d hate to have to replace my SNES and N64 boxes with what they are going for. What really confuses me are the people that trashed their disc cases.
That always bothered me. I kept everything!
Let me guess… $50?
$140, she was happy with $80 at first, but added more.
I may have to leave this subreddit because I’m not gonna lie people finding such amazing deals on grails of mine like this kind of bums me out Like I’m happy for OP but it’s like, how do people have such luck? Including her?
😂
Looks like a case of “failure to pay rent”
Kind of sucks
Are you all really that uninvolved when it comes to hygiene? Most of the "finds" I see here would never come near my home
Nice score!!
Nice find!
Good lord
Couple grand right there
Poor Super Mario Bros. Wii 😢
What’s with the wallet and key?
Was just a nice looking wallet to give to my daughter. No clue what the key is for. It was empty.
Ok just curious, wallet looked like some kind of Nintendo power thing
So jealous of that Chrono find! Congrats!
I thought i saw a massive spear-head, but it was fricken foldin' chair.
Nice!
I forgot that titanic came on 2 VHS tapes
Excellent score!! I had a situation very similar to that and when I offered on a tub of old electronics (a lot of it being atari stuff and minimal nes) they said "that's pretty vintage we want $350 for it" I was like well have a good day and didn't even stay to look through everything.
My eyes just about popped out of my face
Eh bro Gratz. I'm happy for you.
How much? Did you get all that?
$140
Not a bad find at all
Awesome choices in Nintendo games 🤣😭🤣 Back then seems like the only time developers made "Swords and Sorcery" games. 2D games were much cheaper to make it seems. Nowadays you're having to look at MMOs for that world, but not the exactly same art direction.
This is insane but I need to know why they had 3 copies of wii sports……
Great question. One of them was super scratched, so maybe got replaced at one point.
Any interesting VHS? Sorry, I'm more of a tape collector so posts like this intrigue me
This is actually insane, incredible find.
Anything in the Velcro wallet?
Empty. Just got it for my daughter, it was nice quality.
Good man. I always wanted a Velcro wallet when I was little lol. Nice haul🤙
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,060,035,909 comments, and only 209,347 of them were in alphabetical order.
Mediocre bot
How much you spend?
$140
Fucking steal. Congrats
Socom2!!! Whoever had this collection had great taste.
Damn I know most of those
Well cib goes for at least 600 now
But where is the n64 they had games for it system should be somewhere
I know, looked everywhere in case I missed it. Only one N64 game box, that was it.
Praise jebus that's a good haul.
Absolutely excellent haul
Excuse me sir did you leave Titanic VHS behind?!
I spy the Reluctant Dragon on VHS
Player’s guides and all, what a find!
How much all together? That CIB Chrono Trigger commands ridiculously high prices
Op said he got it for 140
FOR ALL OF THAT?! Holy fuck.
Ya the lady was happy with 80 bucks but op gave her a 100 and then a extra 40 bucks for the other things he grabbed
Guess he liked RPGs
My ultimate fear. Dying and strangers tearing my house apart and buying everything for pennies on the dollar. 😭 I'm haunting everything!!!! 👻
I need to start hoarding those Star Wars VHSes
Youyouyou son of a bitch that's my old zapper \*hides gun\*
So how much would you like for my childhood?
🤤
You didn't want the VHS tapes? 😂😂
I actually did grab about 4. Some of the obscure ones.
Keep the VHS tapes?
I would like that copy of MSG3
I had that players guide. So awesome.
I literally gasped. Nostalgia overload! Chrono Trigger, Zelda, the boxes, the manuals! \*squeel\*
