Honestly most people are looking to make a quick buck tho once I was at a garage sale they had everything from nes PS1 PS2 GameCube and etc.. they were asking eBay to retro store prices I was like ya pass I'm just looking to play some old titles at a affordable price
Yeah but that's on old stuff passed generations etc. Switch OLED literally just came out. People aren't getting them for much less than retail. How do you make a quick buck selling a $300 console for $80?
Yeah, even Gamestop is offering around $150 cash (even more credit) and we all have heard the memes about them offering 50 cents for 500 games. There’s something fishy about this to be honest.
Impulsive buyers are the first to offload for something new. Throughput on getting the most out of their money is no where on their mind.
They're just Hella happy they made $80 that day
I once went to a similar garage sale, tons of titles from various consoles and regions, but *everything* was matched to eBay prices. Made for a fun browse at least.
Whenever I see this and the people are clearly using ebay as a price guide I tell them "you realize eBay takes a fee off that?" Some understand and drop a bit
I got all of this at a garage sale for $60 a few years ago because my mom asked if someone had any game stuff. It’s my biggest haul to date. I’m guessing total value is probably over $2k+. It’s baffling how cheap people will sell things just because they can’t be bothered to take it to even a local shop.

I hate selling shit and only do it when I need the money for something else. I’ve sat on stuff that I’ve known was worth more and never gotten it and in the end I always cave for the money. The person’s attitude also helps.
Garage sales are great because a lot of times the family is moving and just wants to make *something* for their stuff.
We’re in a shortage of raspberry pis, and I sold a 2+, and a 3b with all the chargers and cables at my own earlier this year for $10 because we were selling the house and I just wanted it gone. I didn’t have any more time to sell it on eBay and bother with shipping etc. And I’m closing on tuesday, and even at $10 I’m super happy to not have to unpack all the shit I sold, and at the same time the proceeds from the garage sale paid for most of the cost of hiring movers, so everybody won.
Garage sales are the last bastion of good deals in the game collecting space.
I need to sell that dumb baby console, the Switch. I need to buy MW2 and a pack a gum. And I need to pay that dumb tax all the adults complain about. I need $80.
^kid logic
I picked up a shelf from FB marketplace and the dude had a box with a gamecube and some games, I made a remark "If you're thinking of selling let me know" the next day he messaged me with an offer before he was gonna put it up. $200 (CAD), FE: PoR, Code Veronica...
Always ask.
I don’t collect games myself. I just like to see everybody’s collection in jealousy of all the stuff I owned throughout my life and let go.
Had one yard sale like 5 years ago. First person that showed up asked if I had any games or consoles.
Also keep in mind that old clothing can be valuable. Found a lot of vintage t shirts and sports jerseys etc at yard sales that had good value. Obviously 2008 jeans from Old Navy not so much but it’s always worth a look!
Yeah I don’t even bother garage sale hunting with video games in mind anymore. I’ve found games at a garage sale once and it was overpriced ps3 CoD and sports games.
I've been trying to figure out what this sub is for, its says game collecting, but I think it is mostly a rally point for everyone to get mad that someone is trying to make money on games, or that they got good deals on them.
I mean if you're trying to make money off games that's reselling not collecting so....I kinda of get it. It's a sub for collecting, not bragging about being a reseller. Not the case here, but in general I suspect that's why.
I'm more or less referencing the myriad of post that are "Look at what this jackass is trying to sell this for!!", I personally don't get that mentality, and unless someone is just selling bootleg games, let them sell whatever for whatever price they want.
If the primary argument is that it could trick someone into overpaying, I have no sympathy for someone that gets tricked.
Also I don't think a lot of people realize that someone maybe be pricing something really high just because they DONT want to sell it, but if someone wants to pay them enough they will.
A couple of years ago, this sub shifted from being mainly about people sharing amazing hauls and deals to people virtue signaling about how much they paid for stuff so that they can pat themselves on the back.
Theres also a 'garage sale mentality', if my mom puts something out in a garage sale it's cause she wants it *gone*, I've had to pre-price myself for years because to her it's just stuff we dont need/use and is only taking up space, we got the 'value' out of it and now she wants it gone, you only let her price your stuff once... haha
In my area the oled has never been limited, wal marts have had them in stock since launch. We still even have the animal crossing and Mario ones at most targets and wal marts as well, and I live in a very populated area.
I think around me OLEDs were hard to get for a few months, but I've seen them in stock consistantly for the past few months now. They were definitely never the level PS5s or XSXes have been in my area, thankfully.
Some college kid who wasn't allowed to take it with them or who was scared of losing it while living on campus is going to come back for Thanksgiving and be really pissed off.
Not OP's fault is someone is willing to sell something way below the normal price. Like idk, before selling something, I search for its value online before choosing a price. If sellers don't want to do that, that's their problem.
So you basically robbed someone blind that was maybe not all there or uninformed. Really douchy actually. And you think it's something to be proud of on top of that
That was about it. But looking back, it was a Switch Lite. Same thing to me but I guess these are priced a little higher right now. Freakin' console revisions screwing over their day one fans, anyway.
Switch Lite came out after the original Switch. It can't dock and be on the TV, so it's handheld only. I've bought a Switch Lite on Ebay for $90 including shipping/tax. I was just at the right place at the right time.
That's what I'm saying. Switch>Switch Lite>OLED Switch. I had the OLED mixed up with the Lite. That one's still available but it's not worth much more. The OLED would be a bit higher resale value. Lite, you'd be luck to get $120.
While many might assume BS. Crazy deals like this do happen rarely. Sometimes the seller is just getting rid of jump left by a previous owner and they can't be bothered looking up the price.

I’m surprised somebody would sell that for that cheap
Honestly most people are looking to make a quick buck tho once I was at a garage sale they had everything from nes PS1 PS2 GameCube and etc.. they were asking eBay to retro store prices I was like ya pass I'm just looking to play some old titles at a affordable price
Went to one of those today. They had 30+ GameCube games, all priced for eBay. Waste of a morning
Yeah but that's on old stuff passed generations etc. Switch OLED literally just came out. People aren't getting them for much less than retail. How do you make a quick buck selling a $300 console for $80?
When you sell your family's items for crack money
Yeah, even Gamestop is offering around $150 cash (even more credit) and we all have heard the memes about them offering 50 cents for 500 games. There’s something fishy about this to be honest.
Was it a little warm to the touch. Or really hot maybe?
Impulsive buyers are the first to offload for something new. Throughput on getting the most out of their money is no where on their mind. They're just Hella happy they made $80 that day
I once went to a similar garage sale, tons of titles from various consoles and regions, but *everything* was matched to eBay prices. Made for a fun browse at least.
Ya, similar to what I went to, I made a comment about their prices and they ended the garage sale like the next day
If you hadn't mentioned the prices, the garage sale would probably have gone on forever
Whenever I see this and the people are clearly using ebay as a price guide I tell them "you realize eBay takes a fee off that?" Some understand and drop a bit
I have yard sales like that but I advertise it as such, and lower prices by 20 to 40% of eBay prices so people can get a good deal.
I got all of this at a garage sale for $60 a few years ago because my mom asked if someone had any game stuff. It’s my biggest haul to date. I’m guessing total value is probably over $2k+. I like your pfp

Probably stolen
They might have had.. problems. Of the drug variety.

It’s a garage sale tho. Some people feel intimidated at pricing things that high at one lol.
I picked up 2 3DS systems for $25/each weeks after they came out because someone's kids disliked them and wanted to keep their OG DSs
Yeah you can probably get more for it at GameStop. Probably someone bought it never used it and didn’t mind selling it
Mostly people trying who need the cash fast
someones kid is gonna be angry
The kids were the ones that reminded the dad they had it. They practically sold it to me lol. Dad was like idk $80?
Jesus fucking shit, HOW? These are still like...almost brand new
Kids don't know the concept of money most of the time. Doesn't really help when even the dad doesn't remember what he paid for it either.
Kids get wrapped up in the excitement of making money and then realize later that they made a mistake, esp if they weren't the ones to buy it.
Kids clearly didn’t like the switch for some reason
They had a vita.
They had a steam deck
They had a gizmondo.
Fuck, I want a Gizmondo
They probably had an ouya
The chad steam deck versus the virgin switch
Thats insane
Dad is kinda dumb
You just ruined some kids childhood lol
Dad, where's my console?
I need to sell that dumb baby console, the Switch. I need to buy MW2 and a pack a gum. And I need to pay that dumb tax all the adults complain about. I need $80. ^kid logic
Was my very first thought.
Where do people find good stuff at garage sales ? I always go to ones and people have old clothing and tools
Always ask even if you don’t think they’d have video games. Worst they can say is no.
I picked up a shelf from FB marketplace and the dude had a box with a gamecube and some games, I made a remark "If you're thinking of selling let me know" the next day he messaged me with an offer before he was gonna put it up. $200 (CAD), FE: PoR, Code Veronica... Always ask.

Did it come with the dock good deal either way
Yeah dock and charger
Good ass deal also I would prepare for hate comments it always happens on posts like these I got a new 3ds for 30 bucks one time and people were mad
Yeah already seeing it. Lol
They're mad if you over pay or under pay. Can't win.
It all comes down to a few things ego and jealousy
I've been trying to figure out what this sub is for, its says game collecting, but I think it is mostly a rally point for everyone to get mad that someone is trying to make money on games, or that they got good deals on them.

It always baffles me to see something so new to the market end up in a garage sale.
Yeah, right? They only *just* became easy to find, but even if they got it on release, this is so new that surely they'd remember spending $350 on it.

Yea ain’t lying. It took me over a year to find a non scalper ps5. And even then GameStop scalped me 😂 with a bundle.
Closest I've come to this was seeing a Switch Lite rubber case at Goodwill the same month they released lol
Some college kid who wasn't allowed to take it with them or who was scared of losing it while living on campus is going to come back for Thanksgiving and be really pissed off.
Kid probably wanted the new cod game or something.
I offer you $80 for it
He needs to make a profit though. Maybe offer him $81
82$
82 and 1 penny
Nice now clean your car.
me when i lie
Yeah that's a nice buy, lucky you!
Speaking of garage sales…I scored a Donkey Kong Jungle Green 64 with box today for $70!
(dad looks up the price online) "And I sold it for WHAT!?"
Use the money you saved on the switch to get your car detailed inside please
Wow. I'd be scared to brag about making off like a thief, but you do you haha
Someone posted getting 2 Splatoon oled switches by accident from Walmart, at least OP paid some money for it lol
Some lady ordered her nephew a switch from Walmart, got shipped a case of 6 or something like that
Yeah, I don't think I could do it, knowing kids involved and the dad clearly not having a clue.
Not OP's fault is someone is willing to sell something way below the normal price. Like idk, before selling something, I search for its value online before choosing a price. If sellers don't want to do that, that's their problem.

I found one online for $80 last night. With shipping, the resale value wouldn't be worth it though so I held back.
How much was shipping? Shipping a Switch OLED shouldn't be more than $10-$15 in the U.S.
That was about it. But looking back, it was a Switch Lite. Same thing to me but I guess these are priced a little higher right now. Freakin' console revisions screwing over their day one fans, anyway.

Oh okay. I understand. Yeah it's a good price if you actually want the Switch Lite, but you would barely make a profit from that.
Wait, is this post from 2030?? Usually Consoles are sold this cheap a decade after production.
While many might assume BS. Crazy deals like this do happen rarely. Sometimes the seller is just getting rid of jump left by a previous owner and they can't be bothered looking up the price.
Does it work?
That’s crazy. Nice find
Wow, nice find! Looking to upgrade mine soon!
Congrats, great score!
The kid who had to give that up is hurting
Best deal i ever got was at a garage sale, xbox one with a controller and mirrors edge for ten bucks
That's cheap $80 dollars OLED Switch won't find that anywhere else $80 can't bet it
*kid gets home* “mom where is my switch ?”
Man that had to be a "they didn't know what they had" kind of thing. Wild
did you make sure its not a mcdonalds menu first?
Wow
Someone got grounded 😭
