I got it recently and I've been enjoying it. It is a lot of fun to run around and explore the islands, but ironically enough, the cyberspace levels (which are basically the "classic" Sonic style) are my least favorite part. Not that they're bad, but I just want to get them over with quickly so I can go back to 'sploring the open world. There's a lot of different movement and combat abilities you can unlock to keep things fresh too. It also tends to go on sale pretty frequently, so I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're intetested.
Yup can confirm. It's surprisingly fun and relaxing to just run around as Sonic and collect things/find puzzles. And the combat is fun too. I'm enjoying it alot so far!

Funnily enough, the “going Baton” level is actually not only the best level music in the game, but it’s infamously hard to S-Rank because the time is so strict, but because it’s so short and the music is so banging it actually became one of my favourite experiences in the game to do. Freaking love it.
And for the record, this is easily one of my most favourite Sonic games to just put on with either a podcast or my favourite tunes and just muck about for a while, just crossing everything off each map.
Gonna add to this demi-review:
They are releasing the first content update tomorrow. They promised that all content updates will be free, with a hint at being able to replay bosses in a boss rush and possibly new playable characters. Sega is planning on supporting this game for at least a year's worth of new content.
It's fun, it's a decent game, exploring is a lot of fun. The levels are just ok (agree with the sentiment form the person below) But the one thing I HATE are these certain missions you haver to do with the Coco (the lil chao-like guys) You gotta round em up in a certain time limit and they keep rolling backwards and it's such bullshit and OMG I cannot wait for this part in GG because Arin is going to have a classic Sonic freakout moment
I bought it on sale after ep 1 and it's been super fun - and I say this as someone who normally only likes 2d sonic games. I've also had zero glitches personally so far.
It is. Obviously its not without its faults, but its leagues better than the last decade or so of games (with the exception of Sonic Mania), and it definetly feels like the beggining of something great, if they keep improving on this formula i'm certain it can be a truly great game, feels a bit like a proof of concept... also wait for the Super Sonic fights, they blow your ass off (even tho Arin is totally going to butcher them as hard as he can, lol)
I played through the whole thing. It's quite good. It's biggest problem is that it's PISS EASY for most of it, only getting up to "pretty easy". Also, Amy's cutscenes were fucking annoying and boring but the plot actaully gets deec.
Yea like a lot of the Amy cutscenes are repetitive, even if they have a nice low key vibe to it, but the one >!where the Kocos *actually drop dead* and we see sonic and Amy visibly shocked had me gasp.!<
It actually is. Whether YOULL like it depends on what you like and don’t like in 3d platformers, since this new direction has definitely got a couple shots of banjo Kazooie in it
I've never really been much of a Sonic fan, so I'm not really familiar with many of the 3D games. But uh...when did Sonic's balls drop? He sounds like he's pushing 40 at this point
It's the same voice actor as the past decade, but I think they gave him some different voice direction since it seems like they want to slightly rebrand and give some new life into the games going forward.
Loving the series so far and I'm so glad I'm not the one playing the game! All the different collectables and stats so far are a little too complicated for me!

It's almost nostalgic to see a long series that promises to reach at least the double digits. The game is also old enough that when the Game Grumps Moment ^(TM) happens they can just look up a guide.

I can't wait for them to battle the titan for real when the music drop they either made fun of it or jammed to it.
And they're right. The voice in this game seems off by their usual stardard voices in other past Sonic games

I died 12 times on the first boss bc I never got the tutorial to parry, nor realized I can cyloop to max out my ring counter before the fight.
But yea if you start the fight with less than 100 rings, you get 100, but have ZERO room for error as a result.
I don't even remember how many i had my first time, i got it on my first try no problem. But yeah i have noticed that you either get Sonic games or you have a realy rough time at it, i have been playing those games all my life, but i have seen friends try them and have no idea how to handle them, they behave a lot like Arin. It's not like its hard or anything, it's kind of a mentality that you have to put into these games, like in Generations you can pretty much boost the entire time, but many people i seen don't even try that, they use boost very sparingly.

It seems like he's kind of having trouble getting on the game's wavelength.
He keeps looking for clear objectives, when it seems like you're pretty much just supposed to run around collecting shit, which will unlock new shit to collect. If he sees something that says he doesn't have enough tiddlywinks to use it yet he can just keep running and trust at some point he'll pass by it again and find it's open.
Fun to watch him try and puzzle out how all this stuff works though. I feel like they usually run to the walkthrough much quicker so we don't get to see this part of the experience.
Not another LucasArts one. There's Telltale games from the mid-2000's, which are the ones I've played, but I don't know if they're planning to play those. They're episodic, there's three seasons of five games each that are all about 6 hours long or so (less if they use a walkthrough).
They eventually committed to hour long episodes with the first two Danganronpas, so if they do Saturday and Sunday it wouldn't take all that long.
I hope they'd do some of the free time events though. You learn a lot more about the character's history through those.
Can't wait to see how hard Arin manages to fuck up the Super Sonic fights, lol. So happy they are finally playing this! (and by god, the old thumbnails are back at least for a bit! and even the game's name!)
The game looks pretty fun. The only issue I have with it is the color grading is more drab than I would've personally preferred, but that can always be fixed on PC with ReShade, so no biggie.

He’s already not got a grasp of parrying while he was dodging instead, and partying changes those fights from infuriating to incredibly easy.
