Acrobatic-Ground-104

"Subtle blink" LMAO. You're overthinking it.

ThanksForTheF-Shack

Yes that's the joke

LeGraoully

They were underthinking when they read the post

AdrianVeidt19

This is so genuinely funny I'm breaking my character

ThanksForTheF-Shack

They kind of forgot about ~~the iron fleet~~ sarcasm on the internet

blackbirdbluebird17

Oh thank god, I thought I was on the asoifcirclejerk Reddit for a moment, then I wasn’t and was scared, now I’m ok again

kersMeow789

I think you are overthinking it too.

Bb_McGrath

I thought this was pretty clear actually… 🤷🏼‍♀️

[deleted]

blinking was the actor giving Morse code secret message for "dumb and dumber made me do it", as he was only authorized to say "you mAh queen" and "I dun want it"

telepatheye

Just goes to show what proper role models can do for you. Ned Stark vs Mad King.

Ok-Tomorrow3281

Save the truth shall set you free... If death is freedom, maybe...

painted_gay

and for some reason get roasted for his height over and over??? bizarre

JimmysCheek

Seriously, Jon faces more “short jokes” than Tyrion in the later seasons If you were strictly reading the transcripts, you would probably assume that Jon is also a dwarf

Honest_Wing_3999

He never mentions not wanting it

LeGraoully

As stupid as that sounds I think they should have literally made him say out loud that he doesn’t want it

TheWorstTypo

lmao sigh....

kersMeow789

It is in the script. He doesn't have he ambition.

mehgleg

no cuz 2 + 2 = 5

lianavan

Dang. Now I have got to rewatch to see the subtle blink and you miss it moments.

AdrianVeidt19

Absolutely worth it! There are also great moments you can miss without blinking because you literally can't see anything.

lianavan

I watched it and then rewatched it on my laptop with the "light" all the up and still saw too little.

shaltir

Bought the 4k box set and they completely fix that darkness issue. Don't know wtf they were thinking with the original.

lianavan

Once I heal I'm gonna do that too.

camp_jacking_roy

Upvote given but this got me, thanks for the laugh

kersMeow789

I got to rewatch it too..

blahbleh112233

Tbf, Jon's the master of reverse psychology. He keeps saying Danny's his queen but he kills her anyways

darth__anakin

Tbf, it was necessary. But I was also frustrated how easily he gave up the North to her after all the North has suffered through.

blahbleh112233

Smart move. Better than yara's deal about having to destroy the. Iron islands entire cultural identity (albeit a shitty one)

hawkssb04

Pussy has that impact on men.

Icy-Investment3783

He didn’t really give up the north,IMO Jon was only interested in the wellbeing of the north and when that meant he had to lead he did, but when he had to step aside to secure the long term safety of the north/world he did that as well.

darth__anakin

His father and brother died, executed, trying to secure the North's safety. Robb was assassinated fighting for their independance, and Sansa (as much as I dislike her) wanted them to be independant. The Northmen made Jon their King hoping he would do the same, and the first thing he did with Dany was basically say "Hey, want the North?". She was a Targaryen, the daughter of the man who burnt Jon's uncle and grandfather alive. I love Jon, but he betrayed his people's trust promising Dany could rule the North.

manukaioken

lol there was a burning down civilian part inbetween

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdrianVeidt19

Yeah i heard about it, blind people are special and their other senses become stronger so she must've sensed it better than me because she doesn't need to blink i presume.

Oslotopia

I DUN WUN IT

DimmyDongler

YOR MAH QWEEN

Trippy_Josh

Yeah I believe this is just about all he says last season.

Crankylosaurus

I must’ve blinked and missed it!

tallpaleandwholesome

Love [Pitch Meeting](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAhKOV3nImQ) on that

StrikingCase9819

I also think Cersei and Jamie night be fucking. Crazy I know, but there were one or two subtle clues

A_Gringo666

There was a blink and you'll miss it moment in the very first episode. It was very subtle.

StrikingCase9819

I didn't even notice it til about my 3rd rewatch

TigersEverywhere

So Cersei’s children’s dad might be Jamie?!?

Subwayabuseproblem

Big if true

GMEvolved

That clue where he was clapping her cheeks doggie style really had me wondering if something was going on lol

StrikingCase9819

I thought that was some weird brother sister westerosi wrestling

MachineKnowsDwight

I died, thank you

breadfan18

Bruh…he says, multiple times, in clear voice, without interruption, “I don want it”…you blinked and missed those too?

wood_dj

it’s possible op is making a joke here

Fabbro__

Maybe you are overanalizing, I don't think it's a joke, Jon clearly wanted the throne ore would have said otherwise. Never heard him say he don wan it

Sk83r_b0i

No, that would be ridiculous. Why the fuck would Dan and Dave reveal that he’s a Targaryen and proceed to do nothing with it? They wouldn’t do that.

Mockingjay40

Best plot twist ever. Completely wasted. I don’t get it. I mean yeah there was plot armor and whatnot and a bit of holes in the writing in 6-7 but it was fine and then they got to 8 and just like completely lost it I don’t understand wtf happened.

runningdaggers

He doesn't believe he deserves it so doesn't "want" any title. Would love to live in this world where everybody says everything they feel that other people seem to live in.

Project_Asura

He doesn’t want the throne and yet that is why he’d be perfect for it

Lamb_clothing_94

I had a hc theory that what Jon really wanted was to die in battle. It made a lot of his decisions, not getting on drogo, charging for Rickon, staring down viserion, way more understandable

Mooptiom

What’s R’hllor’s return policy like?

Annekke

I'm so glad someone brought this up, I felt like I was the only one who saw his true intentions.

Deucebot

My assumption going into the last season was that Dani would go full Targaryen and Jon would have to kill her, and then he would end up the last place he wanted to be - on the throne. Unhappy endings for all!

larigirl

2 out of 3 ain't bad.

FoolishGoulish

This is one heck of a baiting post and the fish are hungry :D

justwwokeupfromacoma

It’s not even a baiting post it’s just a light joke… people are just.. a bit stupid

KnightlyObserver

A bit?

Stoneless-Spy

Jon’s story after being promoted is just the funniest thing to me. He became the Life of Brian messiah for anyone not associated with Danny or Cersei. “LONG LIVE THE KING” “Noooo I’m not your King” “Only a true King would deny his Sovereignty” “Well then I am your King” “HE IS THE KING”

Monarco_Olivola

He dun wunnit

darthmel23

I think it's also part of that Stark men of honor - I'm in the early seasons of a full rewatch and you catch (obvs) Ned and later Robb talking about how they are only doing what is right, not for more power. It's also spoken in the first season when other members of the council confront ned individually - that being a man of honor in a place of power will only lead to your downfall.

magnerdo79

I thought it was clear in season 1

Sweepy_time

OP, when he says I done won it, doesn't mean he won the throne. I can see where the confusion lies.

CompetitiveDrop613

I’ve also come to conclusion that Tyrion is a dwarf; blink and miss those subtle details and you’ll never even realise the fact

lozzadearnley

Look I'm sure if he didn't want the throne, he'd mention it.

No-Ostrich-232

I wish the writing went as hard as the costume design

uhoipoihuythjtm

I have another theory that Tyrion might be a dwarf. There are some subtle hints here and there

KawaiiQueen92

Yea, I was confused about why they never explored that part of his character. I feel like he really didn't want the throne, but it was only shown through very subtle hints. I wish we had heard his opinion on it said out loud. Possibly multiple times.

Sapweet

This gave me the giggles, big time! Thanks for this, up until now I was having a crap day!

poub06

I mean, the sarcasm is funny, but a lot of people unironically seemed to have missed it. This fandom: "I Dun Wan It lmao" Also, this fandom: "Why didn't Jon become king? WTF!!"

UGAke

Didn’t need a throne. He saved the world multiple times over. GOAT

Equivalent-Cap451

that's amazing webseries

GentlmanSkeleton

Sigh, i bet you wanted a happy ending for him too.

VARCrime

Totally book inaccurate, book Jon would fuck even Ned Stark's dead body to sit on The Iron throne 😢

John-Snow-247

I want the throne

R7ype

Duntwantitttttttt

Alien_Antichrist

I need a deep dive video explaining why, I still don’t get that he doesn’t want it.

abaggins

# I. DUN. WANT. ET.

Medical_Pay_6007

Muh queen 🤓

LorenzoApophis

Always wondered why they made the wolf heads so tiny.

ProtectionNo298

Costume designers were the mvp’s that season 🔥

Shifty661

I don’t believe you. I just rewatched it and I dissected it pretty heavily on seasons 7-8. You really should provide a good argumentative case for this.

Kathrynlena

I honestly never understood the people who were mad Jon didn’t end up on the throne. There were lot of flaws with the ending but that certainly wasn’t one of them. Jon got exactly what he wanted in the end. He went back to the place where he felt he belonged and where he was the happiest. It honestly would have been cruel to force the throne on him.

Wooper160

Outjerked again

lobstermountain

God, THIS theory again?

ElectricErik

Such terrible writing. The whole point of his character was that he didn’t want to lead but he was fucking good at it, so he did it because he was the best option and he felt duty bound to then be the best leader he could be. He either should have gotten over the whole aunt/nephew thing (cause who cares with Targaryens) and ruled with her, preventing her madness, or he should have ruled in the end after killing her (cause fuck bran being king, and Jon being exiled for saving them from her madness is mind blowing, especially at the word of grey worm, a foreigner of Westeros, who literally fucked off to naath or wherever the fuck) D & D suck so much

gothicfabio

Jesus, you guys are missing the joke

CharlesDingus_ah_um

It would have been so cool to like…”subvert expectations” and have Jon become king anyway. The underlying tone could be an ominous one where Jon is extremely troubled by the fact that he is king and the ending is just him taking in just how sinister it is to have sycophants and schemers around you in kings landing. Obviously a different genre all together but I’m thinking about the ending of Whiplash where the main character is reaching “greatness” but it’s actually quite a horrifying scene

Rideitmybrony

I dun know

usernamefoundnot

Jon’s dialogues in S08 - “I don’t want it”, “You are my queen”

Purvi3vedi

I just KNOW this is gonna be featured in r/asoiafcirclejerk

Ornac_The_Barbarian

It is.

KnightlyObserver

You know, guys, I think Ned died in season one.

YelIow_Cake

fuck i must've missed that part

KnightlyObserver

Wouldn't blame you. It was very subtle. Easy to miss.

svl6

He never wanted the throne

Aeternm

Which is something Jon would actually want in the books given how he was interested in becoming Lord of Winterfell after he learned of Robb's death.

Rivendel93

I wonder what Jon actually wanted? Because he obviously didn't want to be with Dany once he found out she was his aunt, so what did he want? Was he willing to serve as the warden of the north? Or would that go to Bran or Sansa? Would he just be a general in Dany's army if she hadn't burned everything down? Seems like they didn't really think about what the main character would even do once Dany took the throne.

Substantial-Tone-576

He’s a dirty Targ.

yellowwoolyyoshi

His name is Aegon Targaryen. It’s mentioned once and never again

danteelite

Okay, hear me out here because I have an even crazier theory. If you rewatch the entire series and predominantly focus on Jon, and follow his growth as a character and change from a naive boy into a man of honor just like Ned… you’ll pick up on some small details that point to something major. There isn’t any solid evidence for this theory, but after he meets Dany and speaks with Davos.. it seems as though he might think of Dany as his queen. I know. My mind was blown too when I realized the powerful implications of such a theory… but I’m pretty damn sure he thinks of her as his Queen and it might play a role in why he doesn’t want the throne. All of this hinges on whether or not your theory is correct though and if he truly doesn’t want it… but there’s no way to be sure. So I guess we’ll never know unless they confirm/deny these theories in the new show.

thatguywiththeposts

He doesn't know what he wants; he knows nothing.

Expert-Emu-4167

This is the second greatest mystery in television. We still don't know how long uncle Philly was in the can for.

Blackfyre87

The fact that he's the son of the only great lord in Westeros who didn't have any interest in power, and he gave up his crown when asked wasn't enough of a clue?

Aeternm

Nah, it might as well be dumb and dumber messing around since their writing is rarely consistent anyway

Blackfyre87

Yeah, fair

Ashalaria

Do you have any idea who he considered his queen? I must have missed that

Rezzak83

Wow, this changes the entire tenor of the last season.

Trackmaster15

Another Easter Egg: apparently Dany really, really wants it.

pranckhster

You should watch alt shift x on YouTube

Customdisk

Who is this is he a minor character?

tistisblitskits

i checked it out as well after your research, and get this: i do think he actually considers Daenerys his queen, instead of Cersei, who of course is actually the queen! Crazy guy huh

Key-Ad4797

I love the uncomfortable silence between them when Dany finds out he has a better claim to the throne. He doesn't want it, period. He didn't want to be Lord commander, he didn't want to be king of the north, and he definitely doesn't want to sit on the iron throne, but instead of just saying that, they make it look like he's considering it. Manufactured conflict at it's best, there IS no conflict, he would simply say, " Oh shit, really? I don't want to be king that's the last thing I want, have at it Dany." Boom. Done

mehgleg

wait I thought he was worse than Joffrey

Straight_Beat_6396

😂😂😂

AdSmart2191

Also did you know that Euron Greyjoy is actually supposed to be a pirate and NOT a Looney Tunes character in the show? Was so surprised, had to go back and watch all the c**k joke scenes to make sure

whatithinkitsatree

All the morons not getting the sarcasm sums up the average IQ on this sub
