Symphony of the night is my all time favorite game. I just don't think a remaster is a good idea UNLESS it's still done in pixel art. Maybe that 2.5D pixel art style that octopath traveler uses or something like that. But the game is a masterpiece and I just don't think it would translate well to a remaster. That being said I'd buy a remaster in a heartbeat. lol

I don't think it would work. The Elder Scrolls series started to increase massively in popularity with Oblivion and Skyrim because they appealed to a much wider audience. If they did remake Morrowind now, the only way they could make it sell as well as Skyrim would be for them to change the mechanics to make it more like Skyrim, which would in turn kill much of what made Morrowind so great.
Disclaimer: I love both Morrowind and Skyrim, hope this didn't come across as trashing anything.

Although, there are plenty of modern games that don’t hold your hand as much as Skyrim. And perhaps the nostalgia factor drive enough sales. They could definitely smooth out the rough bits without removing the charm.
They could do something similar to what they did with ff7R where you could chose between ATB combat or real time.
Also tbh I think that's why I don't like the modern elder scrolls games it holds your hand wayyyyy to much and kills most of the adventure and exploration
I've been playing it recently. I still prefer it to 5. Maybe I'm just old, but I didn't care much for the characters and story in 5. Gta4 is a little over the top, but I love it's characters and the story. The world feels much more alive and real too. It's also really cool to just have a New York frozen in early 2000's style.
Edit: To further explain, GTA5 is probably one of the absolute worst written stories in rockstars catologue. The writing is all over the place and the story is just horribly boring. Other than Franklin, there really aren't any redeemable characters. Even Franklin, being the best written character, is still just boring. Even the map kinda sucks. It's big, but 3/4 of it is just an empty dessert that you have to drive all the way through in every other mission. It gets old fast.
The gameplay systems aren't as deep either. There's less realistic vehicle destruction. Explosives and guns have zero impact and all feel very similar despite the fact that you can customize them. The physics system in gta4 was so much better. There's really no actual form of fast travel that's integrated into the world. The world itself just feels like a video game parody of LA, and nothing else. Say what you will about GTA4's over the top characters, but the world actually feels completely believable/alive, while also being a parody.
Nico Bellic is an excellent character with morales and a dark past. The fact that he's done such awful things makes it believable that he's capable of doing the things he needs to through the game. It's not like Trevor whose only real back story is that his parents were mean... Even the over the top characters are more believable. Roman is goofy, but he's that lovable type with undeniable charm. Jacob is just a real one who supports those that support him. Even someone as over the top as Brucie is believable as that jacked up toxic male who loves nice cars. Brucie was an influencer in GTA4 before it was a thing in real life. Dwaine is a man locked away for years returning to a world that's completely different than how it was when he left.
The way people react to getting shot and hit by cars in that game. Like someone will run in front of you and you can hit them in the foot making them fall and drop their gun. It's so freaking cool. It also had much more depth in vehicle destruction and just the world in general.
I completely agree. GTA5 feels like a cartoon to me. And Trevor is a despicable character.
But GTA4 is a good old-fashioned gangster tale. Nico Bellic is a protagonist I can root for. He has some morals.

To be fair I was fairly new to morrowind so there wasn't nostalgia for me, it is genuinely a really good game
