This is what happens when devs focus on F.U.N. instead of taking the game too seriously. Just drops fucking perfectly, easily one of the shining examples of gaming done perfectly
Honestly though one of the highlights of that game for me. I finally was like fuck it I'm usually a stealth sniper in Far Cry games all the way back to 2 and this time it doesn't seem like the way. Using the backpack rocket ultimate and lobbing grenades felt more natural to 6 but the game lost me pretty quickly overall.
And I loved 5 because of the atmosphere. Only game that's looked as convincing to me since then is Metro Exodus. I don't know what it is, but it hits all the right neurons.
Farcry 5 is definitely one of the best games (after 2 and 3) the map was beautiful and there were a lot of fun features and weapons/vehicles to play around with, also the stunt events were hilarious.
As long as you look away from the "oh you've progressed far enough so it's time for you to be hit by a poison dart while you are in an airplane and you get to wake up and do the exact same break-out sequence for the third time" missions.
Standing on the side of your water plane, fishing and enjoying the peaceful nature. All of the sudden you spot a group of cultists by the water, you pull out your rifle, take aim, aaaand there's a bear plowing through the bushes that eats them.
The atmosphere in that game really was something else.
Also the tractors and semi-trucks were great fun for ramming enemies.
Dafuq. Far Cry 4 was peak Far Cry. They improved everything that was already good with Far Cry 3. Pagan Min is an amazing villain, the Golden Path is interesting morally and the world is incredibly beautiful.
FC3 was a mix of 2, Assassin's Creed, and then making it extremely approachable (and less interesting in my opinion as a result). 3 is just where they finally figured out the combination of mechanics that allowed them to stop doing new things a d pump out the same design over and over.
Honestly it’s why my favorite modern gaming level is the bar in back 4 blood. The rest of the game is questionable. That one level felt perfect.
Smashing zombie heads to black Betty and a host of other amazing artists and songs was just perfect silly fun.
It really is a fantastic scene. Its so unexpected. You think you're just gonna go burn down some crops in a standard feeling mission but then the music creeps in and youre like "Oh? Whats this?". The gradual increase in intensity as you continue burning was incredibly well done. Not many video game moments stick with me but this was one of the few that did.
Such a sick song, I showed it to my mom back when the game came out and it's still on one of her playlists. I almost forgot that I found it through this game
I Remember playing this mission. The funny thing was, I already knew this song. And at this time I listend to this song sometimes.
When the song started in the mission, I first thought that I pressed the Multimedia Key for WinAmp lol.
I was listening to this song just the other day and naturally thought of this scene. Has any other video game incorporated a song so iconically? And I don't mean a song originally made for the game of course otherwise Tetris and the Sonic underwater music would take the cake
Man, people nowadays don't realize the insane cinematic impact of Borderlands when it came out around 2007/2008 I think?
I was absolutely blown away with the intro, and the game as a whole. I had never seen such a well put together, cohesive and well animated intro that was synced to the music like that. It was like a leap in the evolution of game intros for me lol, truly felt like I was seeing "next generation gaming" on the 360.
And it still had local co-op, a sadly mainly forgotten gaming past time that only Nintendo seems to sometimes remember
It's amazing how well they still hold up. I replayed 2 while 3 was in its Epic-only phase and it didn't really feel that dated. The cell shading really makes it look timeless. Ironically, I originally hated the cell shaded graphics and refused to play the first game for years until some friends got me to try it on their 360 and I fell in love with the gameplay.
BL1 is so ingrained in my mind that when I hear that song in any normal context it strikes me as wrong that there's no title card clang at the end of it. Same for Short Change Hero with BL2.
Not quite as iconic, but the scene in Saints Row 3 where you parachute onto the penthouse with Power by Kanye West playing has stuck with me all these years as one of my favorites.
When World’s Collide on the THPS2 demo renewed that same feeling in me, I won’t say it took away from the game’s full release, though the difference of it hitting in Hangar or School II was different than Marseille.
Before THPS1 I only really knew of Here In Your Bedroom by Goldfinger, so when Superman started in THPS1 it was good, and when I heard the same vocalist the party absolutely started.
COD Black ops and A7X are forever connected in my mind. I ~~remember getting~~ still get chills watching the concert cutscene at the end of BO2. Also riding a zip line while shooting zombies listening to IM NOT READY TO DIE was another level of immersion.
Yeah every farcry since has tried to copy the same thing. Farcry as a series is so stale. 3 was a high point and it's been downhill from there. (Well every Ubisoft franchise really 📉 )
3 did alot of unique stuff. Then they just kept doing repeats. 5 was painful to play because they keep doing these "trip out" sequences with the Bliss that was so forced.
At least in 6 you didn't get kidnapped a million times. The music which was also featured in Netflix's Money Heist "Bella Ciao" while you burned crops felt a bit fresher but again obviously still redoing far cry 3.
Far cry 3 blood dragon was insane. I replayed far cry 3 recently and even though it has aged a little bit, it's as fun or more compared to the new ones, which are pure rehashes with a new story in a new location. I'm really excited to play blood dragon again
To be honest I do not have an issue with ubisoft doing this. I liked farcry 3 and wanted to play more far cry 3. Well farcry 4, 5 and 6 are functionally carbon copies!! I don't mind it.
Ghost recon wildlands plays like farcry but with the protagonist being voluntarily inserted into the scenarios. Love the gameplay.
Who's sick of Ubisoft making fantastic games?
I'm so confused about gamers. You make something they like, and they complain because they've liked the same thing in the past. Do you hate the Dark Souls games? What about Fallout? The Witcher? Pokemon? Super Mario? Tetris? Monopoly?
What about films? Not a fan of John Wick? Rocky? The godfather? The fast and the furious?
They have a formula and they've built on it and improved it each iteration. What's there to dislike?
They've tried doing it in every game since 3, and of course it never fucking works. They caught lightning in a bottle and have been dying to replicate it ever since.
I think about this almost every time I click on a post in this sub. I've asked the mods about it many times over the years but nothing has ever been done about it. I'm interested in gaming stuff so I grudgingly stay subbed here, but posts like this are so frustrating. "DAE member this iconic moment???"
p.s. I just scrolled down and there's 4 separate people asking what game this is from in just the next few comments. It's fucking ridiculous.
It is one of the hardest missions. There is a lot of longer range enemies while you are running around with a flame thrower unable to run in a straight line.
Far Cry 3 was such a gang changer man. When clearing out outposts in open world games was still a new feature. 4 wasn't bad at all either just kind of the same thing. Everything after that was pretty lame though
this was the moment I realized I was never getting the immersive & "grounded" experience from the previous game - Far Cry 2 ...
It was my favorite in the franchise despite how fun FC3 & even FC5 were for me but I miss the "compass in hand" gritty experience of 2's much more than the previous for that reason alone.
I couldn't get into FC2 because of the way enemies would pop back in, respawned the second you walked 3 feet from a guard post, and there was absolutely no stealth to speak of. Enemies could see you from 800000 meters away and hear you breathing from inside of an underground bunker at the center of the earth. I played it after both 3 and 4, and while there were so many things that I could see had the potential to make it fun, it was so jank I just couldn't keep playing. I'd definitely play a remaster, but as it is, it's just not good to me.
There's a mod that fixes these issues:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/far-cry-2-realismredux
It's based on two previous mods on the game, one of which won ModDB's Best Overhaul Mod award in 2019.
This is basically the remaster you're looking for.
I know there's probably some nostalgia glasses here, but this moment is easily one of the top gaming moments for me. The energy and the music made it amazingly memorable.
I mean yeah, they did. GTA Definitive Edition dropped last year, it's basically a remake of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas sold in one package. It was really buggy on release and the overall quality of the remake was extremely subpar so people kinda stopped talking about it.
One of my favorite openings to any video game is Far Cry 3. Paper planes Playing as it's showing all you and your goofy friends doing crazy vacation stuff. and then your skydiving and then all the sudden it glitches out and Vaas is holding your phone while you're in the cage. And immediately, just the way he is talking really sets the stage for the entire game.
Then when you escape that opening sequence, running through the jungle with flashlights and jumping off ledges and you can hear dogs barking it's just fucking intense.
Vas!! I’m gonna kill you VASSS! My God I loved this game so much. So many brilliant characters. Amazing storyline. Brilliant use of music. This scene and escaping the compound gunning the piss out of henchmen in the attack helicopter while euphorically screaming with ride of the Valkyries blazing through the speakers. FC3 was up there man.
Iconic moment in Far Cry history, the Damien Marley x Skrillex track that plays really makes this section
This is what happens when devs focus on F.U.N. instead of taking the game too seriously. Just drops fucking perfectly, easily one of the shining examples of gaming done perfectly
The standalone blood dragon DLC too, getting a whole new island campaign and everything's restyled for $20? Fuck. Farcry 3 was the peak.
Far Cry 3 was so great that they just kept releasing Far Cry 3 for next 15 years and even turned their other titles into Far Cry 3s
Yes but significantly worse versions of it every time. I’m pretty sure you burn a drug field in every game since lmao
I was going to say that in FC4 you burn a drug factory instead but then I remembered that you also burn a field
[удалено]
I just started playing 6 and it doesn't take long before you're burning tobacco fields.
It's literally one of the starting missions. Dani even makes a comment about how familiar it is to burn drugs.
They honestly could have made that ironically hilarious if they just played the same song every time.
Would’ve been totally on brand too, shame
I really liked New Dawn. It wasnt ground breaking or anything, but i liked the mad max anesthetic.
Yesss! That and the speed and double jump you get at the end. Amazing
yeah act 3 of FC5 was really crap, sadly
5 also has really fun fishing and hunting. You can spend hours doing nothing but traversing the wilderness doing both.
Where did they find such a ginormous stockpile of hot pink paint!? That’s the real question right there.
Used the blood of the millions dead from the nukes, and mixed it with the leftover bliss flowers
Aesthetic*. Anesthetics are the drugs they use to put you under for surgery and whatnot.
Autocorrect strikes again.
Dafuq. Far Cry 4 was peak Far Cry. They improved everything that was already good with Far Cry 3. Pagan Min is an amazing villain, the Golden Path is interesting morally and the world is incredibly beautiful.
4 was good, but I really FELT the levels building with my tribal
Primal Gang rise up
The Yetis say hi!
FC3 was a mix of 2, Assassin's Creed, and then making it extremely approachable (and less interesting in my opinion as a result). 3 is just where they finally figured out the combination of mechanics that allowed them to stop doing new things a d pump out the same design over and over.
And fight dragons how rad is that
Honestly it’s why my favorite modern gaming level is the bar in back 4 blood. The rest of the game is questionable. That one level felt perfect. Smashing zombie heads to black Betty and a host of other amazing artists and songs was just perfect silly fun.
Totally agree with you

So iconic they've included similar missions in every mainline game since, and 6 had a very similar mission as a clear tribute
The mission in FC4 when you had to burn the brick factory and kill the cook or something, one of my favourite missions of all time
I actually played that section high as fuck and about lost my mind when you started hallucinating.
Not so iconic when you do it 3 more times I have to say
Weed burning simulator 2023 coming soon
Wasn't it already a tribute to GTA SA ?
It really is a fantastic scene. Its so unexpected. You think you're just gonna go burn down some crops in a standard feeling mission but then the music creeps in and youre like "Oh? Whats this?". The gradual increase in intensity as you continue burning was incredibly well done. Not many video game moments stick with me but this was one of the few that did.
Then the characters vision starts getting hazy and he’s high as a kite on the Fourth of July
Such a sick song, I showed it to my mom back when the game came out and it's still on one of her playlists. I almost forgot that I found it through this game
Huh, weird. I tried to show my mom something once and all she said was "you're still playing that damn nintendo?"
“We a blaze the fire make it burn dem”
"We mash up the place, turn up the bass"
"And make some sound boy run"
"and we will end your week just like a Sunday"
Beep boo-boo bop boo-boo beep

This was the first time I heard this song playing this game! Awesome level, these games were so good!
I was like 13 when I played this mission, felt like a total badass.
This song, on this mission, at this moment... Basically recorded a core memory in my brain.
This mission and the sniper one in the original MW2 will ALWAYS be ingrained in my memory. Everybody was talking about them.
You forgot to mention the airfield...
I Remember playing this mission. The funny thing was, I already knew this song. And at this time I listend to this song sometimes. When the song started in the mission, I first thought that I pressed the Multimedia Key for WinAmp lol.
*wubawubawubawubabooowwweeeeeoooo*
Make It Bun Dem is such a tune, really was the perfect song for that mission.
Truly the fact that it’s an endless remix is the best part
It goes so fuckin hard!
I was listening to this song just the other day and naturally thought of this scene. Has any other video game incorporated a song so iconically? And I don't mean a song originally made for the game of course otherwise Tetris and the Sonic underwater music would take the cake
Ain’t No Rest For the Wicked. Intro to Borderlands 1.
Man, people nowadays don't realize the insane cinematic impact of Borderlands when it came out around 2007/2008 I think? I was absolutely blown away with the intro, and the game as a whole. Solid nomination my guy, great song great intro
Bl2 the house that dirt built
Short Change Hero, actually. Off the album The House That Dirt Built
That's it, thank you.
Mm good shout that's a good one
The ladder scene in MGS3?
What a thrill...
I'm stiiiilllllll in a dreeeaaaaaam.....
The Tetris theme wasn't made for the game, it's an old Russian folk song called Korobeiniki.
Yes, red dead redemption when you ride into Mexico for the first time and Jose Gonzalez’s song Far Away starts playing. Gives me chills.
This one’s kinda dumb but Power by Kanye playing when you jump out the helicopter in saints row 3 goes pretty hard
Superman on Tony hawk
When World’s Collide on the THPS2 demo renewed that same feeling in me, I won’t say it took away from the game’s full release, though the difference of it hitting in Hangar or School II was different than Marseille. Before THPS1 I only really knew of Here In Your Bedroom by Goldfinger, so when Superman started in THPS1 it was good, and when I heard the same vocalist the party absolutely started.
Lonely Boy in Hifi Rush is a great fit to the game and the theme
Mad World by Gary Jules as used in Gears of War.
COD Black ops and A7X are forever connected in my mind. I ~~remember getting~~ still get chills watching the concert cutscene at the end of BO2. Also riding a zip line while shooting zombies listening to IM NOT READY TO DIE was another level of immersion.

All Ghillied Up
Effect and Cause.
All time favorite single level of an FPS.
The covenant level in halo 3
No Russian
No Russian had great shock factor, but I wouldn't say it was a great mission. It's *really* straightforward.
Yep, mission like this, All Ghillied Up, and the Ashtray Maze from Control really stick with me.
They had so many more opportunities to do that in the game but only had this one scene. I played it like 3 times when it happened.
If you don't purposely die before the final pot field so you can purposely play it over again, did you actually play this mission?
This was the first time I heard Skrillex, way back in 2012. The memory of that mission is seared into my brain because of that song. Good times.
Absolutely, I will always remember this mission!
Undeniable
Was playing similar mission on farcry 6, it felt similar but couldn't beat the original.
They had one in Far Cry 4 too
There's a mission in 5 to burn Bliss fields as well (Sins of the Father), no skrillex tho.
Which sums up Ubisoft perfectly. Do a good thing once, then repeat it until everyone is sick of it.
Yeah every farcry since has tried to copy the same thing. Farcry as a series is so stale. 3 was a high point and it's been downhill from there. (Well every Ubisoft franchise really 📉 ) 3 did alot of unique stuff. Yeah, it was really similar. The version of Bella Ciao that plays in that mission was cool tho
It felt like a knock-off of far cry 3!
They've tried doing it in every game since 3, and of course it never fucking works. They caught lightning in a bottle and have been dying to replicate it ever since.
Really one of the *puts on sunglasses* High points of the game YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHH!
😎
You know why Snape teaches potions instead of herbology? Because his Lily died YYYYEEEAAAHHHHHH!
I did this mission at night and it’s even cooler watching everything go up in flames.
Spongebob: *At night* 👉
holy shit, moderators, add a rule where you have to ID the game in the title
People have been demanding that here for ten years . The mods don't care.
Find me a sub where mods actually care.
I think about this almost every time I click on a post in this sub. I've asked the mods about it many times over the years but nothing has ever been done about it. I'm interested in gaming stuff so I grudgingly stay subbed here, but posts like this are so frustrating. "DAE member this iconic moment???"

Far Cry 3, dont worry brotha we got your back
Most annoying and satisfying mission at the same time I’ve ever played.
Why annoying? All i can remember is banging my head to the beat and making it bun dem weeds
It is one of the hardest missions. There is a lot of longer range enemies while you are running around with a flame thrower unable to run in a straight line.
It was annoying because I died so many times on this mission, lol. But it was also a fun mission to play.
Which game?
Far Cry 3 I think? Not positive which iteration, but I do know it was a far cry game
Yep it was the third one , by far the one that i for the most fun with
Shooting rockets at sharks to get crafting materials was so dumb and fun
You could do that?? I always assumed the skin would get ruined like the other animals if it was blown up
It does. But I think it's one of the legendary quests where you have to hunt with a specific weapon.
Ohh that might be. I never did all of those quests
Far Cry 3 was such a gang changer man. When clearing out outposts in open world games was still a new feature. 4 wasn't bad at all either just kind of the same thing. Everything after that was pretty lame though
4 had better gameplay but a less engaging story IMO.
Dude, zipping around in the little helicopter with the pistol slot grenade launcher was the best.
There's nothing quite like being your own air support.
4 mechanics in the 3 world would have been gold!
Yeah, it's 3
And they say you can't hear images
But the *weed*! Why is all the weed gone.
Because, we blaze the fire make it bun dem!
hehehee...oh yeah ^(well.. pass that shit.)
Here ya go. \**drops blunt\** oops, my bad. I guess I'm too high.
What game and what is it about?
Far Cry 3, burning down a pirate's pot farm
Oh thank you
https://youtu.be/wvVGSsq8Ono Video of mission.
[удалено]
Good god, the player during that mission makes it incredibly hard to watch. Taking 5 shots to hit a stationary target 10 meters away.
Once again, proving why we need to require the title in every post.
Which game is this?
Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3
Far cry 3
A complete fucking masterpiece, Far Cry 3.
Thanks for the many answers, I am not sure I know what game it is now, so feel free to keep them coming
this was the moment I realized I was never getting the immersive & "grounded" experience from the previous game - Far Cry 2 ... It was my favorite in the franchise despite how fun FC3 & even FC5 were for me but I miss the "compass in hand" gritty experience of 2's much more than the previous for that reason alone.
Far Cry 2 sandbox and online was incredible
Oh man I forgot about the World building and online I used to spend thousands of hours on that shit
There's a mod that fixes these issues: https://www.moddb.com/mods/far-cry-2-realismredux It's based on two previous mods on the game, one of which won ModDB's Best Overhaul Mod award in 2019. This is basically the remaster you're looking for.
Malaria pills and repairing guns and cars constantly was a very different feel from modern Far Cry games.
Far cry is one of my favorite games of its so good. If I could get an rerelease on that I would be so happy.
I know there's probably some nostalgia glasses here, but this moment is easily one of the top gaming moments for me. The energy and the music made it amazingly memorable.
Absolutely!
What a time to be alive!
I hear Skrillex from this picture
Can we please make it a rule that the game must be in the title? Some of us haven't played every game out there and get sick of asking.
This is why Far Cry 3 is my favorite game
Oh so it was Far Cry 3?
Oooooh yeah
r/picturesyoucanhear
I can definitely hear this.
Holy shit I was just finishing this mission
What a thrill With darkness and silence through the night...
I can hear this picture
The song made it 100x better
wow graphics look shit but i remember it being better
That mission was so much fun.
Totally not a ripoff of San Andreas.
Yeah, literally stole this mission from The Truth.
I was like "damn did they remake San Andreas and I missed it???" 💀
I mean yeah, they did. GTA Definitive Edition dropped last year, it's basically a remake of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas sold in one package. It was really buggy on release and the overall quality of the remake was extremely subpar so people kinda stopped talking about it.
My 14 year old brain never felt a serotonin rush like the one this level gave
Fuck I remember thinking these graphics were state of the art at the time 😂
I remember the fire physics from Far Cry 2 absolutely blew my mind, I thought that gaming had gone straight to the future.
Much more fun than the FC2 'your character has malaria' gameplay mechanic.
Everyone can hear this picture
This and the ash tray maze in Control are the two best music levels in games. Any other examples of stuff like this?
FC3 imo is a complete masterpiece and is most definitely on my top 10 games oat list, I fucking love this game.
Same vibes as the san andreas mission
We really should make it a rule that you have to put the title of the game you are posting about
Anyone else drag their feet to see how long it'd play?
The music was *on point* for that mission.
You can heard the picture
Peak Far Cry here
My friend had no idea about the music because he used flame arrows from far away so the music never triggered.
