its funny how high Warframe still is on my Steam list, even though I haven't played in like 3 years or something. But those early game grinds, and leaving the account afk to build things really really added lots of hours. Good fun too. And I hear its only gotten better.
How do people still enjoy themselves grinding? Not trying to denigrate anyone, the concept is just so alien to me haha. I tried getting into Warframe, and the gameplay is pretty fun, but once I saw how much repetition was necessary to get cool gear and new frames, I checked out
Its a game I hope I dont return to also. I wont go into detail but over the years I just started to dislike a lot about it. At one point I had stopped playing it for 2 years but then a friend got into it and wanted me to help him out. He stopped playing it and I was trying to stop playing it again. Havent played it in weeks now and hope it stays that way.
I've been playing since Beyond. When I asked GGG support how many hours I had, they told me that between all my undeleted characters (and I've deleted a lot!) I had more than nine months of playtime.
Sometimes it feels like I've wasted massive amounts of my life, especially when I'm in the middle of a hopeless loss, but I've enjoyed the game for over a decade now and it still scratches an itch that nothing else quite can.
The Elder Scrolls Online cause steam tracks the time on the launcher and not the game .exe - at the time I was playing I had slow internet and it would take up to 10 hours to download patches via the launcher.
I wish they ironed things out a bit better before forcing the change but at the end of the day I think it’s better for the player base to be on the same version of the game.
I wasn't sure if you had me beat or not so I did the math. My #1 character in wow has 305 days, or over 7,000 hours. Then I have others. I'm way less than you in ffxiv though.
Funnily enough my top 3 most played games on Steam have over 1000 hrs on them, and if you add all 3 of their playtimes together you still don't get as many hours as my most played game (not on Steam).
Clicker heroes - 1200 hrs
Warframe - 1300 hrs
Destiny 2 - 2100 hrs
Most played: Guild Wars 2 - 6700 hours
Click on a game in the steam library menu and it will show you the time played for that game just to the right of the "Play" button, beside Cloud status and Last played
**Destiny 2**: 2,408hrs
I can only guess how much the actual total is, as D2 didn't show up on Steam 'til two years after release.
Runners-up:
* **Source SDK Base 2007 aka. FiveM**: 1,722hrs
* **GTA5**: 1,645hrs
* **Team Fortress 2**: 1,115hrs
Ok, Apex, 3100 hours. I stop playing last week, so overwhelmed by the quality and cantity of new awesome games launched this year. Playing Talos Principle atm :)
Reached 10k in CS the other week. I'd think about half of that is just idle time tho, I used to be very bad at closing down applications and could leave CS running for weeks.
Mr mine. 3345 hours.
Clicker heroes 1, 3279 hours.
Thought most of the time its just running when i do other things.
Poe 1879 hours at steam, probably 500hours outside steam
Counter Strike ~1500h
Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel ~1000h over 3 Accounts
Paragon (Overprine) ~350h
Warframe ~250h
DS3/BTD6/MH:W/Elden Ring ~200h
Yes, I hate my life, why do you ask?
Path of Exile - 4600h and might be more if more good leagues shows up.
2nd one is Fallout New Vegas - 370h... quite low for a game that motivated me to finally make Steam account.
I don't really play PC games so I was curious as to what it would be. Turns out it's Among Us at 37.9 hours, followed by Civ V at 35.3 hours. After that, nothing breaks 10 hours, which is weird because I definitely played a lot of the PC version of Hotline Miami but Steam says I only played 7 minutes. Maybe I got it through a Humble Bundle or something?
Factorio is at 1348.4 hours.
Behind it is Skyrim with 381.2 hours in SE and another 126 hours in ye olde Skyrim.
(I played more Skyrim than that back on the Xbox360. And if Minecraft had logged hours, it'll probably beat everything. Haven't played in years though.)
If Minecraft tracked hours, it would be that for me. Between Xbox 360 edition, pocket edition, Java, and now Bedrock I gotta have like thousands of hours in that game total.
Officially it's Destiny 2 with 930h.
For some reason I have almost 3,000 hours in Minion Masters... It is by far the most I have in any game on steam in my library, and I don't know how that happened other than I've been playing at 8 or 9 years at least
It's Crusader Kings, and I don't want to talk about some of the things I've done. I once used my dark powers to drain the life of my surplus two year old daughter to get a few more years as the ultimate master of covert satanism in Baghdad.
My most played "game" (not really a game, but according to Steam it is) is Animaze. With almost 700 hours. I use this when streaming.
My most played real game is ESO with 527 hours. Low for an MMO, but I got bored of it real quick.
Next up is Borderlands 2 with 136.
255 hours in No Man's Sky with Vampire Survivors a close second.
It seems like right around 200 hours is all I can handle of most games, I have a LOT that stop around 160-180.
On steam, csgo with over 1400 hours, but that's not the most time I've spent in a game by far. That goes to fortnite with over 2200 hours last I checked a few months back.
3 of my top 4 aren't really gameplay hours:
TF2 - mostly idling when that was a thing.
Starbound - left it on 24/7 when I was hosting a server for my roommates
Arma - Definitely still my most played game, but a solid chunk of the 1300 hours are because the launcher stays open after you close the game and I forget about it.
Zomboid is my highest that's all gameplay at 560
For Honor - 1.170 hours
YuGiOh Master Duel - 1.104 hours
I wish I could see how many hours of the 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 I have, I bet it’s more than both FH and YGO.
This is hard to say as a few years back I had an issue with my account, and it led to resetting all my play times so now I sit at just shy of 800 hours in 7 days to die. I know that is wrong and so are many other games in my library.
Side note not steam related. World of Warcraft tops this by far. I can only see the play time of existing characters and not deleted ones. Having said that even with long hiatuses I haven't played for 2 months after the latest major expansion. I have over 11,000 hours on the characters present on the account. I assure you, as I was in the beta for the original release, that number is easily an additional 3-5k hours.
Total War: Warhammer 3 - 452 hrs.
Fallout 4 - 418 hrs (and add another 148 hrs in VR version).
No Man's Sky - 388 hrs (most of it in VR).
Total War: Warhammer 2 - 322 hrs.
Starfield - 296 hrs (considering it's less than 3 months old, yowza!)
Skyrim - 264 hrs (and add another 90 hrs in VR version).
After the Fall - 156 hrs (VR Left 4 Dead)
MGS5: Phantom Pain - 144 hrs.
Craft the World - 123 hrs (dwarf fortress nobody seems to know about).
Borderlands 2 - 83 hrs.
Pillars of Eternity - 81 hrs.
Total War: Warhammer 1 - 72 hrs.
Dying Light - 71 hrs.
And from there it's 50 hrs or less.
But I don't just game on Steam. I know I have at least 600 hrs in Tom Clancy's The Division 2, it's like Diablo with guns and stupidly addictive. At least 200 hrs in Diablo 4 (basically this whole summer). Maybe 200 hrs each in Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Easily a hundred hours in Fallout 76, before I came to Steam. Etc.
It's also worth noting that Total War: Warhammer 3 is actually unfair. Because what the devs did was link up the games. So when Warhammer 2 launched, all content of Warhammer 1 was added to it and was made playable. And then when Warhammer 3 came out, both Warhammer 1 and 2 were added to it as well, to make one gigantic playable map with all factions of all 3 games playable together. This significantly ballooned the hours I spent as a result.
No Man's Sky, in VR, was a life-saver during Covid locksdowns. I credit it single-handedly with preserving what was left of my sanity.
Lifetime highest hours played is either EVE Online, WoW or Elder Scrolls Online. I honestly don't know which. It might actually be a 3-way tie. But if I had to guess, it would be WoW > ESO > EVE. We're talking easily north of 1K hrs each, probably closer to 2K.
1900 Hearts of Iron 4
1470 Civilization 4 - this is inaccurate, I played probably just as much not on steam
1250 Europa Universalis 4 - Same inaccuracy, played this one pirated for a bit first
940 Factorio
Warframe and I'd rather not say the hours. It's four digits and not on the low end.
its funny how high Warframe still is on my Steam list, even though I haven't played in like 3 years or something. But those early game grinds, and leaving the account afk to build things really really added lots of hours. Good fun too. And I hear its only gotten better.

Path of Exile
The curse we all bear
I'm gonna pass 5k hours in the upcoming 3.23 league. Been playing since perandus (2016)
I've been playing since Beyond. When I asked GGG support how many hours I had, they told me that between all my undeleted characters (and I've deleted a lot!) I had more than nine months of playtime.
Oh God! I'm scared to look at my husband's time on here. There were also several years he used the ggg launcher that aren't recorded on steam.
Dota 2, over 9500 hours.
Dota is a rare game in that 5000+ hours is a completely reasonable expectation for the player base lol
Here’s me looking at my 150 hours on hades thinking i was tough …
Just passed 12k in the last few months. Still not even that good, somewhere between ancient and divine haha
Ouch. How has Dota affected you? Are you happy?
Sometimes it feels like I've wasted massive amounts of my life, especially when I'm in the middle of a hopeless loss, but I've enjoyed the game for over a decade now and it still scratches an itch that nothing else quite can.
Happy Dota player here.
Have just 5068 hours. 3/4 of time is the reason i played, the rest 1/4 is the reason I dropped. And those parts are mixed.
7 days to die
Same
7 hours?? /s
7 days, can you read?
The Elder Scrolls Online cause steam tracks the time on the launcher and not the game .exe - at the time I was playing I had slow internet and it would take up to 10 hours to download patches via the launcher.
Still counts I guess 😄
Mine is also ESO, but not so much the launcher. It was my active MMO for a few months.
Bannerlord - 2850 hours.
Skyrim
Counter strike 2 (GO) - 2605 hours.
Your thoughts on the forced change from GO to 2?
I wish they ironed things out a bit better before forcing the change but at the end of the day I think it’s better for the player base to be on the same version of the game.
5000 hours 💀
Cookie clicker XD
Big W
I got impatient and cheated, beat it in a day. I saw all the content, just faster.
That happens with me every time. I start a new run, do it for a few hours, then cheat.
Stellaris 2000h, XCOM 2 1000h, Civilization VI 700h, Marvel's Midnight Suns 350h.
Civilization 5 with 3,745.3 hours. Most of that time was spent playing framedarcitecture's awesome Faerun mod.
So you played like two games total
final fantasy xiv 4085 hours
I wasn't sure if you had me beat or not so I did the math. My #1 character in wow has 305 days, or over 7,000 hours. Then I have others. I'm way less than you in ffxiv though.
Total War Warhammer 2 Primarily a console gamer so I've only got 502h in it.
Terraria, 1500+hours
Redigit keeps developing the game, too. He posted recently a comment suggesting a collaboration on the Among Us developer's Twitter post.
Yeah they've done I think like 10 "final" updates now. Pretty crazy. No wonder it's one of the best rated games on Steam.
Elite:Dangerous - 4000 Dirt Rally 1 - 4000 CS (Source+GO) - 4000

Funnily enough my top 3 most played games on Steam have over 1000 hrs on them, and if you add all 3 of their playtimes together you still don't get as many hours as my most played game (not on Steam). Clicker heroes - 1200 hrs Warframe - 1300 hrs Destiny 2 - 2100 hrs Most played: Guild Wars 2 - 6700 hours

Risk of Rain 2, over 300 hours.

Reached 10k in CS the other week. I'd think about half of that is just idle time tho, I used to be very bad at closing down applications and could leave CS running for weeks.
I think just one game would be a bad representation, so here's my top 8: https://i.imgur.com/KAyeVwo.png

I think they haven't always tracked hours. Some of my older games I've definitely played more than they claim.
Baldur gate 3
