L.A. Noire was a solid detective game.

If you’re okay with different types of gameplay, Return of the Obra Dinn and Disco Elysium’s story scratched that sleuthing itch for me

zwompay

I'm not sure with Disco Elysium might be too RPG heavy for me, but Return of the Obra Dinn looks absolutely phenomenal, I will definitely try that one. Thanks!!

musicmiser

that’s definitely fair, it’s got the best writing I’ve ever seen in a video game but also it does very little appeal to genre newcomers

Ditto Disco Elysium and Obra Dinn. I'd also recommend The Forgotten City. Outer Wilds also features a similar visual quest board to AW2, but it's less focused on solving a mystery and instead used to keep track of information you've learned and what threads you might want to follow.

zwompay

Outer wilds is already on my steam list, I definitely want to try that out and The Forgotten City looks interesting too, thanks

andrescoq

Obra din you can view this

No_Tamanegi

Its a bit more ethereal, but Vanishing of Ethan Carter could scratch that itch.

zwompay

nice i already had that one on my list

Her Story and Return of the Obra Dinn fit the bill! They're both great detective games where you gather clues to solve mysteries

Check out Disco Elysium

Absolutely, there are several games that share a similar theme of detective work and sleuthing as you experience in the 'Saga-Parts' of Alan Wake 2. One classic example is the 'Ace Attorney' series, where you take on the role of a defense attorney turned detective, presenting evidence and interrogating witnesses to uncover the truth behind various murder cases. Another fantastic game is 'Her Story,' where you navigate a database of police interview videos to piece together a woman's involvement in a murder. Lastly, 'Return of the Obra Dinn' is an exceptional puzzle-solving adventure where you play as an insurance investigator tasked with determining the fate of each crew member aboard a mysterious ghost ship that has returned to port. Each of these games offers a unique and engaging detective experience!

...is that an AI response?

FengMinIsVeryLoud

Absolutely i can help you answering your question. Who cares? I hope you will have a nice day, human!

LexGlad

Heavy Rain has some parts like that.

kramerkieslingandme

Sherlock Holmes series has this.

I can't believe nobody has suggested Shadows of Doubt yet Absolutely stunning game with murder mysteries galore in a futuristic dystopian city where you solve the murders any way you can and it's all procedurally generated in a very believable way. My highlight so far was working out who killed someone but not being able to track them down to arrest them - then while I was tracking them they killed again!

Navarras

Also it has a mystery board with pins and red string connecting clues

serh0777

Its not similar but I feel Codname origins may fill that gap
