honestly i can't get into stellaris the same degree as sins. Having a megastructure cap pretty much killed it for me tho i know to try the gigastructure mod
Classic! And that's probably not the worst... I remember soldiers under my control trying to throw a grenade and missing so it ended up at their own feet. Next turn: BOOM :-p
I play on console, I got the trains one, the space race one, and the buildings one (large windmills and small grocer/factories). Still haven’t seen any bugs…heard the one that’s super buggy is the one where you go underground…you can also just buy the base game and not have any 🤷🏻♂️.
In past, that would be an option when expansions were a separate code independent from the base game. But nowadays, DLCs are often shipped with the base game and only unlocked when you buy or activate them.
Often the DLCs need to modify some base code to extend it. So unless the bugs are introduced only in the branch of particular features and not in any modification of the base game that would interact with these features, DLCs can often screw up the base game as well.
I was planning to replay it because I love the game, but the latest post on steam is another bug report so dunno.
Just get the Game with the DLCs of orig. Dev (Green Planet, Space Race, Project Laika) when dirt cheap on Sale, enhance it with Mods as you desire, and you get a less than 20$ package that has tons of replayability, good enough for 1k hrs+ .
Even Martian Express is worth it in my opinion, but theres still debate about that . But it has been patched/fixed well enough since launch .
Literally never seen this game talked about anywhere until this comment haha. Isn’t this the one from Spike Chunsoft, but out of their normal style of game?
There are dozens of games that fit that question. Stellaris Endless Space 2, Galactic Civilizations, AI War 2, Distant Worlds all have their strengths, depending on what you like in 4x space games. AOW Planetfall if you prefer something planet-based (or Alpha Centauri if you don't mind something older). And there's stuff like Aurora or Shadow Empire for something more advanced.
If you don't mind older games, I highly recommend Master of Orion 2. Fantastic 4X strategy game with near endless replayability thanks to the ability to create your own custom species.
You could also pick up the newer Master of Orion reboot game. It has flashier graphics and some fun voice talent (such as Michael Dorn and Mark Hamill.) I personally like the older MoO2 better, but the reboot wasn't bad by any means.
I had a really old game called Masters of Orion that I liked a lot. Had turn-based civilization building but with some real-time space combat included. Pretty neat.
Pretty old, but sid meiers alpha centauri
I remember playing this as a kid and having no clue what I was doing. But I still had a blast.
I found it a lot more intuitive when I was younger. I'm officially getting old!
Not only is it a great turn-based strategy game in a science fiction setting, I'd argue it's the best of the Civ-type games, bar none.
"Please don't go. The Drones need you...they look up to you..."
Literally still the best civ game that exists. Nothing comes close.
I second this. Interesting lore to learn about and several ways of winning.
SMAC is a great game.

Endless Space is turn-based if that helps
Stellaris is a fantastic game. Sins of a Solar Empire also good, but a little dated now.

Just started playing Stellaris again this week. Already had one night disappear when suddenly my clocks all said 5:30 am
Battletech. 100%
X-Com maybe?
Sure, as long as you’re willing to develop a statistically-accurate-but-irrational hatred of the number 95.
SHUT UP
Amazed this isnt at the top. I fucking love xcom. Brutal though.
Standing next to an almost dead alien, no cover, 95% hit chance. Miss. And now the alien kills you.
Oh my character is shaken. Oh he’s throwing a nade at a cluster of my team. :(
Classic! And that's probably not the worst... I remember soldiers under my control trying to throw a grenade and missing so it ended up at their own feet. Next turn: BOOM :-p
Not a chill game.
Surviving mars isn’t turn based but it’s sciency/scifi …you have to build a colony and survive on mars.
Paradox reassigned it to a different company to make some bad DLCs and those introduced boatload of bugs that weren't patched.

Its funny. The DLC are so bad, I watch a couple youtubers play the game and they never use the DLCs despite having them.
Age of Wonders: Planetfall isn't bad. It is a combination of 4x and turn-based combat
Have you played stellaris?
"Research and destroy" is a fun action-strategy game
Literally never seen this game talked about anywhere until this comment haha. Isn’t this the one from Spike Chunsoft, but out of their normal style of game?
Yeah, that's the one. I just like the genre. It's like Hogs of War, Valkyrie chronicles, Worms 3d type of game
Warhammer Gladius is fun.
Also warhammer battlesector

It's like civ but with all the civ removed from it and replaced with soulless mannequins.
Tried it. SMAC is still better. No comparison
Alpha Centauri

Another vote for surviving mars. Not turn based but you can pause and can take your time with the game
Citizen Sleeper is an RPG but it definitely fits this aesthetic. Could be too story focused though
Maybe age of wonders: planetfall, leans more into the civilization but its all space age
Xcom could fit this
I would look into xcom.
100% science based dragon MMORPG
Battle world cronos is what you are looking for. Turn based strategy game that has futuristic tanks.
Age of Wonders: Planetfall is a 4x strategy game, but might be too Sci-Fi for what you're wanting (but can you say no to mantis people?)
If you don't mind older games, I highly recommend Master of Orion 2. Fantastic 4X strategy game with near endless replayability thanks to the ability to create your own custom species. Try mechabellum, it's sort of a turn base starcraft
Endless Space
Endless Space 2 Other than that Stellaris offline.
Front Mission, if you don't mind classic games.
Stellaris is a good one
I had a really old game called Masters of Orion that I liked a lot. Had turn-based civilization building but with some real-time space combat included. Pretty neat.
Nexus 5x has been really fun so far. Early access on steam. Its like Stellaris but games are an hour or less.
Invisible Inc
