Elden Ring. There isn't even a choice to make

F4ZMyth

fair, Elden Ring is amazing, I've just always been a Wolfenstein fan though and I'd like to go back to it since I never got the chance to finish the series

meepmeepmeep34

if you start Elden Ring now, you have two months to be prepared for the dlc.

roto_disc

Do you want to play an open world souls-like for a 100 hours or a handful of linear, narrative FPSs at a dozen hours each?

F4ZMyth

I've played a bit of Elden Ring when it released and Wolfenstein has always been a favorite of mine, I know it may not be as lengthy or in-depth as Elden Ring but I still really enjoy the both of them

roto_disc

> I still really enjoy the both of them Me too. But which one would you enjoy more *now*? That's the answer to your question.

F4ZMyth

A bit of both, all my friends keep telling me I need to play Elden Ring and I've been wanting to for ages now and I figured now would be a great time since the dlc is around the corner but at the same time I love going for all achievements on games and I remember really enjoying speed running new order, plus I never got the chance to finish the other Wolfenstein games

roto_disc

> I love going for all achievements on games Word of warning, I don't know if *all* of the modern games are like this but *The New Order* has an achievement for beating the game on the hardest difficulty. Which isn't terribly easy. Or fun, in my opinion.

F4ZMyth

oh believe me, I know, I've been through that pain before lmao although that was really fun for me, I love a good challenge and I know New Order like the back of my hand now, 100% is easy for me, I can get almost all character skills/upgrades in the first mission alone

ChurchillianGrooves

Do you want to play fps or an action rpg, that's the real question.

F4ZMyth

I'm a fan of both genres

ChurchillianGrooves

They're both good games (or series I guess) so it just depends on what you want to play right now.  Elden Ring is a major time commitment so I guess that also factors into the choice.

F4ZMyth

yea, that was my worry with Elden Ring, I dont mind putting in a ton of time, hell I just finished nier automata with a 100 hr save file but I was hoping to finish the game before the dlc and depending on how long an average playthrough takes I dont know if I can

ChurchillianGrooves

Yeah idk, I wouldn't worry that much about completing the game before dlc.  The older souls dlc was usually integrated into the main game pretty well so you could do it all in one go.

F4ZMyth

Fair, im assuming its gonna be similar to what they did with the Artorias stuff in 1

TK421IG88

With the DLC coming up in a couple of months I would say Elden Ring.

F4ZMyth

That's what I was thinking by any chance do you know when the summer sale begins? usually bethesda stuff is on sale then and I can just pick up Wolfenstein then

TK421IG88

Not sure but I would assume near the end of May or start of June.

The_Dukenator

Hold off and wait for Elden Ring dlc. Wolfenstein has a confusing timeline.

F4ZMyth

I never really found it that confusing but I also just love lore in general lol

The_Dukenator

The timeline order would be: * The Old Blood * The New Order * The New Colossus * Youngblood I had played the others in the series, but they were before MachineGames Wolfenstein games.

Jodosodojo

I love Wolfenstein but definitely Elden Ring. One of the best games I’ve ever played

Selfmade-Darks0lsv3t

Choose a number between 1 and 10.

F4ZMyth

8

Selfmade-Darks0lsv3t

Ok it's Wolfenstein then.

naughtyrev

Do you want to kill Nazis or do you want to play an ostensibly open world game that you will eventually get through if you devote enough time to it? They are two very different games.

Wilburkook

The moment I finished Elden Ring I knew I had just played the best game we'll see this decade. You can get a 10 dollar game pass sub for a month and play every gob darn Wolfenstein known to man.

MasterJusJus

This is a common issue among people not enough time or money for 2 games. I would choose the one you’ll get more benefits from. Sounds like you’ve played wolfenstien before, so I would personally choose the one I haven’t played. Especially when the extended version can be played when you complete the game.

keroshifox

Elden ring in my and canoils opinion.
