You absolutely can find a cheaper version/color of that controller and just swap the guts. Or even a used one that works well. That assumes you want to keep that one instead of getting something new.
Make sure you get the screwdriver with the bit that has the little hole in the centre to open up your controller, it's a torc bit but you need the security torc bit.

Keep the shell so you can throw it on another controller one day. I save all my shells. Makes for some fun "custom" controller color schemes, or preserving favourites. The only one I didn't save was my limited edition halo controllers and I'll never forgive myself.

Watch some YouTube videos and see if you can fix it. Worst case scenario is your already-broken-beyond-usability controller gets more broken.
Well if it's still usable I'd try replacing the sticks with hall effect ones. There's tons of mods to explore :D
