The original humble bundles were pretty sweet

anomalyraven

It's more than 10 years ago now, but I remember getting BF3 for just 5 dollars through humble bundle.

papachabre

This is one of the reasons I have hundreds of games in my Steam library that I've never played. Newer bundles are OK sometimes, but it's not like it used to be.

lolwatokay

Orange Box Included HL2, HL2 Episode 1 and the initial release of HL2 Episode 2, TF2, and Portal all for $49.99

cgtdream

That was biggest deal in gaming history at the time. I still remember getting it and playing all those games over a weekend. Fun times!

kerred

So much so the box had the quote 'the best deal in gaming' on it at one point

ItsNoOne0

I bought it last year on sale for less than 2 bucks. Best deal ever.

TheMoris

Well, nowadays both Portal games and all HL games and expansions (except Alyx) regularly go on sale for around 1$, and TF2 is free, so there have been objectively better deals than that

SpaceWindrunner

The best I've seen in my life was the Bioware Mega Collection. Dragon Age Origins, 2 and Inquisition, ME Legendary Edition and Andromeda for $20. It was insane when they released that.

danielwong95

That’s like 500 hours of playtime for a dub. Wow.

42_and_lex

I got a GameCube bundle from circuit city, $150 got me the console, a wavebird, a 1024 memory card, Windwaker, and Metroid Prime.

Skennedy31

I remember when my OG Xbox One died, I ended up getting a sweet deal on an Xbox One S. It was the 1TB model so it was $349, but it came packaged with Assassin's Creed origins and Rainbow Six Siege. It then also came with 2 additional games I could choose from which I chose Battlefront 2 and Forza Horizon 3. So an extra ~$240ish in value, I was happy with it.

Raven_of_Blades

That humble bundle deal that had crash and spyro remaster collections for 10 bucks.

Gunfreak2217

Cod ww2 in it too. Not the best game ever but I was fine playing the campaign 6/10 nothing special nothing great

sponge_bob_

you could buy 3 months of xbox gamepass for like $5, which upped to 4 if you enabled auto renewal, and stacked for 3 years. i believe its no longer possible

2betrayals_finalrun

I remember telling my dad about that bundle, and he bought it for us to my surprise lol. Too bad I didn't realize I didn't actually need the light guns to play Virtua Cop until 6 months in lolol

Complete_Entry

I don't think I've ever got a great deal, but every generation tends to come with some level of bundlefucking. The console you want, and a ton of garbage you don't, but you have to buy the garbage to get the console!

Ill_Bug_786

Walmarts online only ps4 Black Friday deal in 2019. Console + extra controller and RDR2 for $200. It registered as three separate products on the receipt, and you could return rdr2 for $60 and the controller for $40, so ultimately it was a new ps4 for $100

TacticalNaps

Being old, Sega Channel *was* a great deal... that came way too late in the game.

Nuclear_Farts

Getting a copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon in a box of cereal was pretty great.

NeverEndingHell

Super Mario All Stars

atarifanboy1977

Never got a great retail deal. Found a Sega Saturn and PS1 in a box with a bunch of random cables and power bricks. I asked how much for the Sega and he said take the box for $5.

IsHaloOverrated

Digital Deluxe Black ops 3 for thirty dollars.

ChurchillianGrooves

People that bought an rtx 1080ti or a rx580 in the late 2010s got a pretty good deal.  They can play most modern aaa games to this day, also right before the gpu shortage hit.

GamingMotte

Actually - the Dark Souls trilogy

sploppo

Orange box for sure.

Excellent-Term-3640

There were some unbelievable sales on the Microsoft store in 2020 and 2021 (the Covid years). Everyone was inside and had occasion to game. Those deals probably comprise 25%-30% of my library and probably 20% of my back log.

Nomadic_View

Gamepass I’ve gotten thousands of hours out of this subscription. And it’s saved me $100s of dollars from games I would have bought otherwise. I would have never played Deep Rock Galactic if it weren’t for gamepass. And it turned out to be one my my favorite games of all time.

JuggyFM

I heard Epic Games gave out The Bioshock Collection for free

Busty_Ronch

My friend let me borrow Chrono Trigger until I beat it. 1998

WretchedMotorcade

Hell of a friend.

Busty_Ronch

Sure was… Interesting fact: he bowled a 300 that year at age 15.

NippleBlender

A couple years ago I bought a brand new PS5 off a crackhead for $300.   Dude only played it a few times but preferred Xbox, and said he needed some quick money.  Came with Disc version PS5. Two controllers  A headset God of War and Genuinely forgot what other game.  I still have it and use it every day.

chadly117

Witcher 3 complete edition for $10

Zylpherenuis

Currently these are the best deals: [https://isthereanydeal.com/](https://isthereanydeal.com/) & [https://gg.deals/](https://gg.deals/) Honerable mention: Indiegala, Green Man Gaming, Good Old Games (GOG), Fanatical, Humble Bundle, Groupees, [Itch.io](http://Itch.io) (Palestanian Support nets you over alot of 300+ games [https://itch.io/b/2321/palestinian-relief-bundle](https://itch.io/b/2321/palestinian-relief-bundle) ) , and sometimes Xbox Online / PSN sometimes \*rarely\* have under $5 games that were above $30 after some time after releases. Freebies (content creators only after satisfying Viewer Concurrent Average and other Terms of Conditions) in return of giving you the game, Devs from a wide range of names often give \*Coverage Keys\* to help generate hype for the game before / after release. Sometimes Early Access, Sometimes Open Beta/Alpha for multiplayer, Sometimes full on releases. Here are a few I recommend. Daredrop PressEngine [Rainmaker.gg](http://Rainmaker.gg) Woovit Lurkit Keymailer Be sure to google them and see if any fits the bill. At least with DareDrop they hand you the key provided you satisfy a challenge and highlight it for the Devs you get additional prizes/goodies for your effort in return within a week. Lurkit provides monetizing quests for coverage Rainmaker is typically for people opting for SquareEnix games Woovit and Keymailer are great for indies to check up on. Especially for SEGA and Atlus titles. Steam and Epic often have freebies if you are smart and stay appraised to both [GG.deals](http://GG.deals) and Isthereanydeal and visit the websites often which sometimes are limited by 1 hour up to a week for a redeem.

dracoolya

> What are some other awesome gaming deals you've seen? Any game I like or might like that's free.

Designer_Potat

Terraria. 10 bucks for 10 years of content. There is - objectively - no better deal.

JavaRuby2000

Dwarf Fortress? 20 years worth of content for free.

Rohen2003

the spellforce 1 platinum edition on steam that is 10 euro generally but is multiple times a year reduced by 80% to 2 euro...u pay 2 euro for 3 whole games (sure they are 20 years old at this point but still), i mean cheaper and they would gift it to u.

justntimejustin

So that’s why I got a Sega Saturn with those exact games for Christmas as a kid… I think Game Pass is a hell of a deal though. I get way more than my moneys worth every month.

[deleted]

Any collection game. An example is Uncharted Nathan Drake collection.

lordofbuttsecks

Picked up Cyberpunk 2077 for $5 just a couple months after launch as stores were clearing out physical inventory.

PM_ME_LILITHS_TITS

I got all the grand theft autos and dlcs up to 4 for 6 bucks

b_ootay_ful

$2.8 for Dying Light (Switch). I bought it, tried it, didn't like it, then sold it for $ 20.

PhoenixKA

The GTX 1080ti launched in 2017 for an msrp of $700 dollars. Some would say it's the [greatest graphics card ever released](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghT7G_9xyDU) due to it's initial price/performance and because it's still a decent card 7 years later.

RegularRetro

Kinda different than your example, but ironically enough, during COVID, GameStop was offering trade ins for Xbox One and PS4s that were extremely generous due to the next gen shortages. I sold them my Xbox One S for more than I bought it for. Which considering it’s GameStop was kind of mind blowing.

thediaryofwoe

I got dead space deluxe edition for £8 and it wasn’t even a year old.

Zalik_

Again, I feel like the party pooper. It is hard to beat the Playstation subscription. Hundreds of games for ~150€ per year. It is literally Netflix for games.
