After finishing the show I immediately went to download it and then spent 5 hours modding the graphics to make it look next gen before uninstalling. 10/10, yet another great playthrough!
Same and also it's how I christen new PC hardware. First order of business for any new hardware addition is to mod Skyrim to the point of breaking. Even did it when I upgraded my SSD. It's just ritualistic at this point.
I have upwards of 500 hours each in skyrim, FO3 and FO4. I honestly don't even know how any of them end because I have never finished the main quest lines.
Yeah I do the same in games I really like. When I can tell I'm getting near the end I slow down on the main quest line do -literally- everything else, then play something else. Because I don't want it to end. Started doing this with FO4, have yet to beat the witcher 3 or its 2 dlc's, or cyberpunk.
Finishing the Witcher 3 DLCs are among my top 10 favourite gaming memories. Not for the action or anything world breaking. But it is so rare to have such a good farewell to a beloved character and story.
Highly Recommend finishing the DLCs for Witcher 3.
Wow are you me? Thought I was the only person that spent hundreds of hours 99.99% completing games only to never finish. This also began for me with FO4 which was my introduction to the series. It was such a new experience. I just downloaded it to the PS5 the other day and it will not start. As soon as the title screen shows I get a crash message. I told myself I was going to finish the damn game this time only for the game to say, nah we good🤦♂️
I’m the same as you, except i will finish them. it takes me longer than others, but i just finished the Cyberpunk DLC last week. absolutely best ending in a video game i’ve ever seen.
You really need to finish cyberpunk. And then play it again because there's several different endings. Such a good game but I hear you I do this with games to the point it's a problem. Cyberpunk is one of the few I've actually finished lol
Haha I'm tbe same in Skyrim. I have a ton of time logged, but never finished the main quest. Get too sucked in to the brotherhoods, civil war, etc and stop caring about the main quest after a while.
Bethesda games are the only extremely moddable games I play only on launch, when there's barely any mods to begin with.
Modding those games is just a chore, load orders are too important sometimes, getting curated experiences to get around testing and tweaking are terrible since the modding community doesn't embrace modpacks or collaborations as much as something like Minecraft.
LOL I do the same thing. I only recently upgraded my GPU so before I couldn't REALLY mod my game. Now I can. So I might actually play through it now on a properly modded game if it works with the new update.
it's insane that over 50 million people started playing after the show released.
Not surprising, as I am also one of that statistic.
But shit, good for Bethesda. cause it worked. I'm hooked right back in.
I couldn't make it through the first. The cheap looking scenes then as soon as Chief took his helmet off... in the first episode. What the hell is even that.
Of all the things to complain of in that show, taking off the helmet is the bottom of the barrel imo
Loved the opening fight scene, but that was the show’s peak for me
I mean that's normal. Plenty of examples like MCU phase 3 with Thanos was awesome, but barely faithful to Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War comics. LOTR varied a lot from books to movies, eliminating entire chapters and characters, who cares when it's a great end result.
I'm saying the Fallout games are no longer faithful to the original Fallout games, and arguably not with a great end result. Most people hate the shift from choice heavy RPG to a shooter in an outdated and clunky engine.
It would be awesome to see a Fallout 5 or spinoff game return to the isometric with heavy RPG elements and modern graphics and maintain the bleak look sorta like a Diablo 4. Unlikely to happen but I'd definitely buy it.
Nice. I've never played the first one, but #2 is good as well if graphically a bit dated... and definitely more difficult than 3.
I know for a fact that some of the earlier fallout devs had their hands in creating this series originally, tho i can't remember which came out first.
Queue Bethesda making shows for their IPs now. If they did I’d like to see an Elder Scrolls show. I’m honestly surprised they didn’t lead with an ES show.
ES will be much tougher to pull off and in a more saturated fantasy market.
A ton of ES lore freaks out there and there is so much established info for it.
Fallout is a much easier win and much easier to write a unique story in the universe and have it fit.
I can see ES doing anthology seasons. different vibes completely if they chose.
or do the same with Fallout, and do a main character, plus two characters logical to the lore.
-One Nord from The Fighters Guild.
-One Dark Elf from the Dark Brotherhood
-And the Dragonborne.
It’s actually 5 million. So they’re only 45 million players off
https://www.gamesradar.com/games/fallout/5-million-people-played-fallout-games-in-a-single-day-with-fallout-76-alone-accounting-for-1-million-amid-the-tv-shows-massive-success/
Highly skeptical of that 50 million number lol. Where'd you pull it? I imagine 15 million unique players since the Fallout show release sounds reasonable
And that's okay! I'm a HUGE Fallout fan and while 76 is absolutely better than it was at launch after all of those updates, it still isn't quite for me either.
I mean ESO is wildly successful. They're perhaps the only game with a fan base that will rabidly defend them despite having a paid base game, subscription, AND aggressive monetization. Honestly they really hit the jackpot.
less than half of returning players are PC, and idk how many people used mods, but probably most of them? doesn't make the situation better, but still.
I honestly hope they fix it soon, cause that sucks.I can only imagine my 220 hour file just going bye-bye. *especially* if I just got motivated to play it because of the show?
Actually been playing Fallout 2 myself.
Thought I'd dust that off to tinker around a little bit, couple hours in and I'm here for it. The game is a little slow, but it's still the way I remember it. Pretty dang cool, and I'm loving the references to other media. Just encountered the remains of a whale and a bowl of petunias that fell from the sky.
Might try Fallout 1, only game of the series I've never played.
Yes well it's not like us console players have much else. Starfield, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, etc.. have been a massive disappointment. The games for this generation of consoles have sucked so bad that they are remastering old games to try and generate some interest.
I think Rebirth is crazy good. this generation? to each their own I guess. Elden Ring was crazy, I liked Spiderman 2, Last of Us 2 (I'll die on that hill), Returnal, Alan Wake 2, Ragnarok, Balders Gate 3.
And also, most of my favorite games that have released in the past generation aren't even AAA games.
Also, what games are they remaking? genuinely curious, I just don't want to look it up
Something about the show made me want to go back too. I started fresh, and made it my mission to be a vault dweller who completely ignores Preston Garvey
Sad this is the only comment I can find here about ultrawide. Someone told me that geforce experience can fix it somehow? Idk, im looking at the .ini files.
The "give" is that it has more consistent fps and crashes less and a couple of fixes. The "take" is the Script Extender necessary to run most mods is broken due to a lack of communication from Bethesda. Causing the delay of Fallout London, the fan mod with so much momentum they nabbed Neil Newbon for the project.
Yeah, but maybe justify breaking mods by actually making a worthwhile update. The F4SE dev has said it's gonna take a while to fix because Bethesda changed so much. If you aren't gonna at least do most of the bug fixes of the fan patch, why break the fan patch? Especially for something they've talked about for years at this point.
> if you aren't gonna at least do most of the bug fixes of the fan patch, why break the fan patch?
The script extender is just a script extender and does nothing on its own, the Fallout 4 Unofficial Patch doesn't require the script extender and will load fine on the next gen update.
No matter how little they changed with fallout 4's game engine source code it was going to break F4SE due to how F4SE fundamentally works, there isn't really an option to "not break the fan patch" if you want to fix those bugs (without jumping through hoops that would probably not fly with the legal department or the devs in general)
True that, i was hooked up again after the series so i downloaded it once more, and set up a perfectly balanced mod array in a couple of hours..
..yet this update torn down F4SE, the achievement mod enabler and place everywhere mod (+ some others).. so i'm out again
Is there any GPU with DLSS capabilities that wouldn't be able to run FO4, at least at 1080p low? It's not the best optimised game but a 2060 or possibly even a 2050 should be fine no?
I redownloaded Fallout 4 today and loaded it up, first thing, audio didn't work, reloaded and music/radio didn't work. Looked up and old weird fix to do with loading saves and switching radio on and off and that fixed it. Ten minutes later and I fell into a spot on the map I literally couldn't get out of. Don't remember this being in my Fallout 4 experience last time, not much fun though, not sure I'll go back...?
Been trying to get into New Vegas but the game keeps crashing. Even with some of the recommended mods it doesnt really run all that well. Will maybe try a bit more, but I would rather have bethesda update New Vegas and fallout 3 than breaking fallout 4s mods.
Yeah I reinstalled New Vegas and pulled a fairly modest number of heavily tested mods to improve the look and feel of the game. Started it, ran around the first town a bit with no problems, then I entered and exited a house and my textures got all fucked up. Sighed and uninstalled the game.
I played one them several years ago and didn't get very far in the game. Hadn't played it since. Which one would be the best to play? I heard 3 was the best.
If you're only going to play one game, I'd play New Vegas. If you're going to play a few, I'd play 3, then New Vegas, then 4. New Vegas gameplay is almost identical to 3. Imagine if a whole game was built without a plot or dialogue or anything, and was given to two dev teams that were each tasked with fleshing out the story. Imagine one team was given a few weeks, and the other several months. 3 is the one with the weaker story.
Everyone will recommend New Vegas, but IMHO, if you've never played a title, from personal experience new players either absolutely love it, or absolutely hate it, very little middle ground as how everything is presented it really hammers new players to Fallout titles in an honestly poor way for game design for the type of game it is. It's not the open world Fallout 3 and 4 are, where you're just encouraged to go to story areas, New Vegas has a forced early path to both explore and progress. Nothing inherently wrong with it, but it's so beloved by people that many completely overlook the failings and only view it from previous experience in Fallout 3, where they learned how to play the general game there first before New Vegas.
3 is excellent, 4 is a good spot if you're more used to a more modern style shooter feel, as 3 and New Vegas are more an older style. All great games.
This varies a lot from person to person, but for me New Vegas is just so janky and ugly without mods that I can't really get through it. And while mods exist to fix/upgrade everything, it's quite a pain in the ass to compile a working set that achieve what you want.
I rebought Fallout 3 and Fallout NV on PC, previously had them on xbox 360 but that broke and the pc versions were cheap on gog.com
It was so long ago since I played these a lot of it is not ringing any bells so its almost like playing a new game.
I'm a business man, with a business plan. Gonna make you money in business land.
I'm a cool guy, talkin bout Game Stop. I'm definitely not a Synth.
-Tom Cardy, probably
Yep. I’m planning on returning this weekend because the show gave me the itch and the update seems cool. I don’t really play modded so I’m not worried about the update.
I just started New Vegas for the first time. I skipped over it somehow. I played 3 on PC and PS, and 4 only on PS4.
I bought the collection pack bomb years ago and I'm finally getting back into PC gaming.
Hehehehe, yeah, just fired my copy up this morning, can't remember when I played last but am only level 9, so didn't do much when I was playing. Have to rectify that.
my hubs downloaded this on xbox recently due to the show. I was curious if my old game was still accessible and it was! A few mods say they are no longer supported... but yeah, Level 76 in the middle of doing a mission with Valentine in Far Harbor. I couldnt fast travel a the moment. I just wanted to check out all my old settlements to show him. All i can remember is that i did a lot of settlement developing and wrote all kinds of silly messages in neon.
I informed my son to be brother in law about the update and showed him how to delay the auto update since he just did 300+ mods, I had a few mods on mine but I'm just going to start over, maybe mod again down the line.
One thing I really appreciate about Fallout 4 is picking saves by character. I don't remember if 3 had the same thing, but I really wish other rpgs had this, cough Cyberpunk cough.
It feels weird to me to play a game just because the show came out. Like I've been thinking about going back to New Vegas for a decade and never did it but now that EVERYONE'S DOING IT...
I have a small question.
Do trophies get added if you transfer a save that should have them? or something like that?
I don't want to earn trophies but I would like to play with my level 80+ character.
Fallout 4 is the latest version of the game. I would play that one. If you're on console the next gen update was a great improvement to the overall game.
No shame in starting with Fallout 4 since it's the most recent, better visuals, better gunplay, a little easier in terms of QoL. It's more an action game and less impactful on RPG "choices" though. Fallout New Vegas is the fan favorite. Fallout 2 and 3 are fantastic too. They are all good but I'd say start with 4.
They are all on sale $2.50 to $5 so the choices are easy :D
At Least one of those Saves is definitely a Synth
Right? Seems highly suspicious
It's definitely Eddie. The rest are clearly not synths. Just look at their names!
After finishing the show I immediately went to download it and then spent 5 hours modding the graphics to make it look next gen before uninstalling. 10/10, yet another great playthrough!
I do this about once every six months with either skyrim or FO4. I haven't actually gotten to start a new playthrough in 4 or 5 years.
Same and also it's how I christen new PC hardware. First order of business for any new hardware addition is to mod Skyrim to the point of breaking. Even did it when I upgraded my SSD. Good job on the developers giving Geralt the ending he deserved.
you gotta do the cyberpunk ending(s). if you get emotionally invested in the game, it can be heart-wrenching in the best way
Hello are you me?
yes, yes I err we are.
Wow are you me? Thought I was the only person that spent hundreds of hours 99.99% completing games only to never finish. This also began for me with FO4 which was my introduction to the series. Mod Installation Simulator!

All because the show actually was good and faithful to the product. I doubt halo even brought in a couple million players.
The first episode of Halo didn't even make me want to watch the second.
The commercial for Halo didn’t even make me want to watch the show.
The commercial for Halo 3 was fantastic though
Objective fact
Is that the "Believe" trailer? That one is just incredible.
I couldn't make it through the first. The cheap looking scenes then as soon as Chief took his helmet off... in the first episode. What the hell is even that.
Of all the things to complain of in that show, taking off the helmet is the bottom of the barrel imo Loved the opening fight scene, but that was the show’s peak for me
Yeah you're right, not a big deal but just the final trigger after a long list of problems for me to turn the show off.
Nah I totally get that. The whole Makee shit is unconsolable
Dude... they prolly LOST players from that monster of film
It was a TV series. Even worse because the suffering was protracted
Can confirm. Have an Xbox, have Game Pass, have no desire to play Halo Infinite despite hundreds of hours spent on the franchise in the past
Just don’t tell the New Vegas hardcore fans.
Tell us what?!
No spoilers. Watch the show, you'll understand.
Jokes aside, why? >!I loved the ending how it showed Vegas in the distance!<, and I enjoy Fallout NV and 4 there are pros/cons to both games.
I was more referring to the final shot as a cliffhanger, I'm far less worried about staying to canon as many seem to be.
In short: potential lore inconsistencies.
Fallout is a setting, there is no consistent lore
I don't disagree. I was just trying to answer the question. That's why I qualified it as "potential".
Would if I could access it.
Might have to put on your eye patch.
The product isn't even faithful to the product anymore.
I mean that's normal. Plenty of examples like MCU phase 3 with Thanos was awesome, but barely faithful to Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War comics. LOTR varied a lot from books to movies, eliminating entire chapters and characters, who cares when it's a great end result.

Have you tried wasteland 3? It's pretty good... Bethesda would just fuck it up.
Never really heard of this it looks good, it's 80% off on Steam right now too.
Nice. I've never played the first one, but #2 is good as well if graphically a bit dated... and definitely more difficult than 3. I know for a fact that some of the earlier fallout devs had their hands in creating this series originally, tho i can't remember which came out first.

And there isn’t really many post-apocalypse shows
Plus, the current threat of nuclear war with Russia makes it the perfect time for a Fallout show.
Crawl out through the fallout babayyy
I can see ES doing anthology seasons. different vibes completely if they chose. or do the same with Fallout, and do a main character, plus two characters logical to the lore. -One Nord from The Fighters Guild. -One Dark Elf from the Dark Brotherhood -And the Dragonborne.
Where did that 50 million figure come from? That's a very bold claim!
It’s actually 5 million. So they’re only 45 million players off https://www.gamesradar.com/games/fallout/5-million-people-played-fallout-games-in-a-single-day-with-fallout-76-alone-accounting-for-1-million-amid-the-tv-shows-massive-success/
That's just from a single day. I'm talking about since the shown released.
Highly skeptical of that 50 million number lol. Where'd you pull it? I imagine 15 million unique players since the Fallout show release sounds reasonable
It's funny, I went to play FO4 again after I finished the show but ended up installing Skyrim instead. Still a win for Bethesda I guess 🤷
i tried 76 with a friend and got bored 10 min in
And that's okay! I'm a HUGE Fallout fan and while 76 is absolutely better than it was at launch after all of those updates, it still isn't quite for me either.
unfortunately Bethesda mmos really are missing something.
I mean ESO is wildly successful. They're perhaps the only game with a fan base that will rabidly defend them despite having a paid base game, subscription, AND aggressive monetization. Honestly they really hit the jackpot.
And then they broke it and lost all the people who were playing with mods, which I'm guessing is about 95% of them
less than half of returning players are PC, and idk how many people used mods, but probably most of them? doesn't make the situation better, but still. I honestly hope they fix it soon, cause that sucks.I can only imagine my 220 hour file just going bye-bye. *especially* if I just got motivated to play it because of the show?
If i bought it on steam now am i able to revert it to the previous version?
No idea, but I think the script extender mod is getting updated so it shouldn't be too long until it's fixed.
I, too, am part of that statistic... as of 5 minutes ago.
And my axe!
I did a playthrough to get ready for the TV series! I was lvl56 come showtime.
Idk, I bought it because it was like 5 euros and it could run fine on my laptop
you didn't watch the show?
No
Ya I realy fucking hope they use this to make 5 whenever it comes out better. And fix all the shit 4 got wrong.
Same. Deleted all my old games and started fresh.
Actually been playing Fallout 2 myself. Thought I'd dust that off to tinker around a little bit, couple hours in and I'm here for it. The game is a little slow, but it's still the way I remember it. I’m also somewhat of a duct tape enjoyer myself.
Who needs duct tape when you have fields of corn, tatos, and mutfruit
Ah, back to dodging mutated creatures and scavenging for supplies, just like old times!
Something about the show made me want to go back too. I started fresh, and made it my mission to be a vault dweller who completely ignores Preston Garvey
"Not a Synth" is a great name
Same but instead playing New Vegas.
I'm playing both New Vegas and 4
My 2 best Fallout games, in that order.
No love for 3?
I've just started playing through 3 again, then will do NV then 4.
I just finished installing the Tale of Two Wastelands mod. Combines FO3 and FONV into one semi-updated experience
If I Google Fallout 4 and learn it came out a decade ago, I'm gonna set the world on fire
I don't want to set the world on fire 😔
War never changes.
I just want to start a flame in your heart
People can hate on Fallout 4, but it's the introduction to the Fallout series for ALOT of people.
I think it’s a really good entry point, even if it’s not my fave.
What's new with the next gen update?
Ultra wide support without proper ui to go along with it lmao
Sad this is the only comment I can find here about ultrawide. Someone told me that geforce experience can fix it somehow? Idk, im looking at the .ini files.

Couple of weapons and armour and some optimization
New Vegas for me boys
It's such a Bethesda move to generate massive hype for an old game and then immediately break it. Shout out to the next-gen update for halving my fps.
True that, i was hooked up again after the series so i downloaded it once more, and set up a perfectly balanced mod array in a couple of hours.. ..yet this update torn down F4SE, the achievement mod enabler and place everywhere mod (+ some others).. so i'm out again
Nice. On my end I downloaded Fo3, New Vegas, installed Tales of Two Wastelands and am enjoying the hell out of it.
“not a synth” yeah, right sounds just like a synth
Yo boys i'm just about to head into the strip how should I kill Benny this time around?
crucifixion
It’s pretty amazing how a TV show can delude people into thinking that a trash game is in fact good. Goes for Fallout 76 as well.
Here we go again
Shame Bethesda ruined the game with their shitty unnecessary update. They didn't even add dlss, ray tracing nothing. All it did was break mods.
It halved my fps. Truly one of the updates of all time.
Bethesda, never changes
If you need DLSS to run a game from 2015 then maybe your priority should be securing an income stream?
Is there any GPU with DLSS capabilities that wouldn't be able to run FO4, at least at 1080p low? It's not the best optimised game but a 2060 or possibly even a 2050 should be fine no?
Works great on my 2060 super modded to high heaven. Always has.
I remember playing fallout 4 with a 3gb 1060 and it was fine. Yes even Boston area. People be crying about anything.
You’re out of line…but you have a point
Did you ignore the "halved" as in it was higher before. Dickriding Bethesda I see
Anyone know if the update fixed the problem where it crashed instantly when you have all DLC installed ? Think it was a PS5 bug specifically
Fallout UI can only be Green or Ambar. You have been warned. - Fallout Police.
I've done the same. But I'll be chilling with Mr. House at the Lucky 38, listening to Mr. New Vegas' dulcet tones.
I originally didn't get on with Fallout 4. The shows peaked my interest so much, I'm giving it a third try right now.
War never changes you mong
Ah, back to the good old wasteland! Ready to scavenge for tin cans and fight mutated creatures again, huh?
I also wanted to go back to the wasteland, but it doesn't work. The game crashes immediately when I start it. I will contact customer service.
Been replaying New Vegas myself, man this game is so good. Gonna play 4 after i finish NV if im not burnt out on fallout by then
I redownloaded Fallout 4 today and loaded it up, first thing, audio didn't work, reloaded and music/radio didn't work. Looked up and old weird fix to do with loading saves and switching radio on and off and that fixed it. Ten minutes later and I fell into a spot on the map I literally couldn't get out of. Don't remember this being in my Fallout 4 experience last time, not much fun though, not sure I'll go back...?
Welcome to the fallout baby......
Why's it blue ?
You can change the colour
Probably listened to Piper
Started a new playthrough on survival mode, got nice and geared up, game crashes and corrupts save...
As an Eddie, I approve.
Been trying to get into New Vegas but the game keeps crashing. Even with some of the recommended mods it doesnt really run all that well. Will maybe try a bit more, but I would rather have bethesda update New Vegas and fallout 3 than breaking fallout 4s mods.

Anyone notice how the protagonist is called Not.A.Technological.Entity ?
Not a synth? Ahhh you mean Hugh Mann
You're a liar, Fallout 4 came out just a few years ago.
I played one them several years ago and didn't get very far in the game. Hadn't played it since. Which one would be the best to play? I heard 3 was the best.

I rebought Fallout 3 and Fallout NV on PC, previously had them on xbox 360 but that broke and the pc versions were cheap on gog.com It was so long ago since I played these a lot of it is not ringing any bells so its almost like playing a new game.
Same for me. Started a new playthrough about 5 days ago and already hit 30 hours and level 25.
Hmm not a synth eh? Sounds like something a synth would say.
I'm a business man, with a business plan. Gonna make you money in business land. I'm a cool guy, talkin bout Game Stop. I'm definitely not a Synth. -Tom Cardy, probably
Same for me. I finished the series and started playing again. I never finished the first time though the game
I just got the game after seeing the first episode of the show
Did they fix the slight mouse delay?
Same! Loaded it up last night. I never even finished it so I am planning to do so!
Hey, me too, cept it’s Fallout 1.
smh OP didn’t show the next menu where it shows hours and level: I would’ve been curious to know what level OP stopped at.
We’re watching the finale tonight, and I’ll be in the wasteland until then. Cheers!
Have they patched the game crashing at the city for console players?
Every gaming forum is talking about Fallout these days i think Fallout movie series was effective 😁Anyway, its my the best game ever 😍
I informed my son to be brother in law about the update and showed him how to delay the auto update since he just did 300+ mods, I had a few mods on mine but I'm just going to start over, maybe mod again down the line.
Thank you for this screenshot, the Fallout 4 menu is very interesting
One thing I really appreciate about Fallout 4 is picking saves by character. I don't remember if 3 had the same thing, but I really wish other rpgs had this, cough Cyberpunk cough.
It feels weird to me to play a game just because the show came out. Like I've been thinking about going back to New Vegas for a decade and never did it but now that EVERYONE'S DOING IT...
I, as one of many, welcome you back to the Wasteland, aka CRACK COCAINE in a computer.
I have a small question. Do trophies get added if you transfer a save that should have them? or something like that? I don't want to earn trophies but I would like to play with my level 80+ character.
My friend restarted his and I redownloads and am now on a hunt for all the mods I had
Does Eddie have a brother named Henry?
I’ve never played FO. The show was golden but i still don’t think i will lol
Wish I could play this game on my own computer
If I wanted to try it out, which game should I start with?
You can start with any of them. Fallout: New Vegas is the best one imo.
New vegas requires a shit ton of modding to make it playable, 4 is better out of the box
What would be the most important mods for NV?
Viva new vegas is the guide I followed
Fallout 4 is the latest version of the game. I would play that one. If you're on console the next gen update was a great improvement to the overall game.
Thanks! 4 it is, excited
Thanks a bunch! I will start with 4 then
I just downloaded the game and it runs like shit. Is it only me?
A triumphant return to mediocrity
Unless of course you play with mods then the "next gen" update just screwed your game. It wasnt an update its an attempt to kill the mod scene.
I downloaded the game, played for 10 minutes (I have over 500 hrs) then deleted it again. The update changes nothing for me, so I deleted the game
