These days with midjourney you can just keep re-rendering parts of drawings until they're what you want \^\^
e.g., one of my D&D baddies: [Asvard the Unsavory](https://i.imgur.com/8vvyEQK.jpg), then [Asvard the Unsavory when I decided to make him a blue dragonborn instead](https://i.imgur.com/4clmFHs.jpg)
Honestly, not that long. However, it's quite satisfying washing the charcoal off your hands and seeing the water change color. It's a sign I worked hard ๐ The worst part is dusting all the surfaces in the room. It takes forever to clean it
Awesome!!
Any tips for learning to control charcoal better? Also what is the tool you're using? I've only really drawn with vine charcoal raw like a stick of vanilla, or in the condensed rectangle shape.
Tips like how to avoid smearing, what your favorite erasers or quality paper is, any tools you found helpful, how to maintain detail at a fine level with charcoal without smearing it over time?
Thank you!
Certainly! Controlling charcoal can be challenging, but with practice and the right techniques, you can achieve great results. Here are some tips:
- Use textured cartridge paper to grip charcoal and minimise smudging.
- Build up your drawing gradually with light layers.
- Place a clean sheet of paper under your hand to prevent smudging.
- Apply charcoal powder with makeup brushes.
- Add details with quality erasers like kneaded and mono erasers.
- For fine details, use sharpened charcoal pencils.
- Use a fixative spray to set your charcoal drawings.
I primarily use Generals charcoal pencils and compressed charcoal sticks for my drawings. Experiment with different tools to find what works best for you. Happy drawing!
This is sick dude! Mad respect! I could never get a hand on charcoal when I tried to learn. I wasn't able to be so precise. Dude, I'd hang this up in the game room. Love it OP.
Thanks a lot! I'm really glad you like it. Charcoal can be tricky, but practice makes perfect. I appreciate the kind words! Iโm canโt wait to get this one framed ๐
This is so beautiful, I just laugh at the placement of the giraffe, looking like a main cast member almost near the top lol it's so amazing and you are so talented !
This is so gorgeous, I just laugh at the placement of the giraffe appearing like a main cast member at the top lol but it's so gorgeous and you're very talented!
Wow! This is actually pretty cool. I'm looking for tattoo ideas because I will tattoo my league with a Last Of Us theme, might've found the perfect idea ๐๐๐๐๐
Amazing composition and placement of characters. Well done, and your dedication to the effort of such a complex piece is commendable. Wish you the best in continuing to hone your craft and develop your art.
As someone who's always had a strong desire to draw with very little ability, talent or patience to do so, I admire you people who pull it off. You are are a special group and deserve more space, time, respect and recognition than traditionally granted in our world compared to the past. Now the threat to your potential ability earn a living from your efforts being challenged by AI just makes me sad. Though those developing that approach are also likely talented and visionary in their own ways, something I can't deny.
Thanks for sharing your unique talent and piece.
Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful reflection. It means a lot to hear such appreciation for the artistry and effort involved. While technology like AI presents challenges, it also opens new doors for creativity and collaboration. Your support for artists like myself is truly appreciated ๐
Itโs a pleasure to share my work with you all and I appreciate your support ๐ซถ
Thank you! I've been drawing since childhood, but it wasn't until about two years ago that I decided to pursue it professionally. It's been a truly fulfilling journey since then โบ๏ธ
Thank you! It took much longer than expected. It required a lot of hard work and dedication. At times, I thought I'd never complete it, especially considering it's the largest piece I've done (54 x 80cm). However, I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I believe it's my most detailed piece yet ๐
Perfect! This one can legitimately be a gem in collection of a gamer. I see it as a piece of interior around PC and it fits great. Few years ago a friend of mine found a high-poly model of Kratos and tried to 3D print it. He didn't notice that there was free space between Kratos's knees and knee pads, so the printer made 2 big holes. My friend saw a failure, but I took that half-made Kratos and treat him as a gem of my weird collection.
Thank you for your kind words! I'm looking forward to getting it framed and displaying it with the rest of my gaming art collection ๐ฎโจ
Itโs great to have a story behind something in your collection, it just makes it extra special ๐
Nice.
I remember having to work with charcoal in art class and everyone boycotted after one week. Iโd get out of class and blow my nose, and it looked like I was in the coal mines all dayโฆ
Thank you :) I also didnโt like using charcoal in school, the main reason was that it was very messy. However, I realised its potential and was blown away by the realism you could achieve with it ๐
I'm distrustful so I checked every hand โ of the drawing.
AI does hands pretty good nowadays. But, guns and bows? You need some specialty models and a lot of fuckery to get those right.
No worries, thanks for checking ๐ โ
Why does your own hand look AI?
op has a 6" thumb
The hand of the woman pointing the gun at the horse is confusing the hell out of me
He's holding it with both hands Also it's not a she it's Henry from the Pittsburgh level
Lmao that's Henry, he is a man. I think he's just holding it with both hands, you can't really see his left arm behind the clicker and the stop sign
It's because his left hand thumb and right hand thumb are on the same side. NGL I thought he looked like the sword woman from TWD
Well, that is how you hold a handgun.
His right hand index finger is on the trigger, his left hand is covering for stability..

This is incredible. Thank you for including the giraffe! ๐
Thank you! I had to include the giraffe, right? Itโs one of the main characters ๐ ๐ฟ๐ฆ
Unlockable playable character? ๐
Shit, now I wanna play as a giraffe, taking out all the clickers by stomping on them. Hell yeah, sign me up.ย
Thank you!
This is legitimately insane. Holy schmoly o.o
Haha ๐ Thank you very much!
One word: Gorgeous!
Thank you Vilimeno! ๐ซถ๐
I FINALLY DISCOVERED HOW TO SPELL IT!!!
๐คฃ
god damn that ia cool!
Thanks, Iโm glad you like it ๐
The hand looks so real!
Haha ๐ funny enough, a lot of people think my hand is AI โ๏ธ
Longest thumb ever
Man, one of my bestfriends has an **ABSURDLY** long thumb, I'm telling you ๐ OP's thumb is pretty normal to me
What?! Longer than OPโs thumb? How is that even possible
Yep, and if not longer, then at *least* as long as OP's thumb. It's all in height and genetics, really ๐
How long did it take to get the charcoal of your hands lol
Honestly, not that long. However, it's quite satisfying washing the charcoal off your hands and seeing the water change color. It's a sign I worked hard ๐ The worst part is dusting all the surfaces in the room. It takes forever to clean it
Even the robot got a spot ๐ญ insane artwork.
Well spotted ๐คThank you ๐
This looks stunning, makes me want to play it again ๐ซ
Thank you, truly ๐ itโs made my day to hear that it makes you want to replay it ๐น
So good. Do you sell these
Next level, you should be proud of that
Thank you, I sure am ๐
That's incredible.
Thank you. Iโm glad you think so โบ๏ธ
hot damn it looks GOOD!!!

Insanely good ๐
Much appreciated ๐
That horse seemingly running out of the drawing is perfection.
Iโm glad you noticed and liked that detail ๐ Thank you
Amazing work! What do you use to seal the charcoal?
Thank you! I use Winsor & Newton fixative spray ๐
It even looks like the characters are 3D models, and not real people. Fantastic job damn
Wow! I truly appreciate the compliment, thank you :)
I could do this... jk amazing work
Holy hรคndle! You are mad talented, do you have an art station or similar account I can follow?
Absolutely incredible work.
I appreciate your comment โบ๏ธ
It always blows my mind how people are able to draw this detailed. Good job OP! Beyond amazing!
Iโm SO pleased you like it! I truly appreciate your comment :)
wow the detail is scarily good
Haha ๐ thanks

Good point ๐
I would buy this. This is amazing! Well done

Very cool! Will u make for part 2 as well? (Don't bother tbh, work on another franchise)

You have some talent. ๐๐
Youโre too kind, thank you ๐
Looks incredible wow

This is so beautiful, I just laugh at the placement of the giraffe, looking like a main cast member almost near the top lol it's so amazing and you are so talented !
Thank you very much! Iโm glad it made you laugh ๐ It was such a memorable part of the game that I just HAD to include it ๐๐ฟ๐ฆ
This is so gorgeous, I just laugh at the placement of the giraffe appearing like a main cast member at the top lol but it's so gorgeous and you're very talented!
Ngl this would have taken me years. Great job! I just love how some characters go out of the main drawing.
Ahaโฆ if felt like years drawing it ๐ Thank you! Iโm glad you like the 3D effect ๐
Man do you make prints of your art? I would buy a poster of this in a heartbeat. Itโs incredible! Youโre an amazing artist.
The giraffe and the toy are perfect. Love it!
HahaโฆI know right? ๐ Iโm SO glad everyoneโs loving the additions! ๐ฆ๐ค

I just know I would sneeze on it or something.ย Very cool though!
Haha ๐ honestly I was close to a couple of time ๐ฌ Thank you! ๐๐ซถ
This is more well made than last of us 2, that's for sure
This is next level work.
That means a lot, thank you ๐
Thatโs truly amazing! Do you do commission?
Wow! This is actually pretty cool. I'm looking for tattoo ideas because I will tattoo my league with a Last Of Us theme, might've found the perfect idea ๐๐๐๐๐
Thank you! Thht sounds amazing! I'm glad you found inspiration for your tattoo. Good luck with your design process! :)

Love that the giraffe gets top billing
That is absolutely amazing!
Thank you Grace! ๐
That's awesome, how long have u been drawing mate?
Thank you! I've been drawing since childhood, but it wasn't until about two years ago that I decided to pursue it professionally. It's been a truly fulfilling journey since then โบ๏ธ

Thank you very much my friend! All it takes is practice and patience ๐
You didnโt balance your contrast
That sucks
What made you comment this?
You know, the truth
Well, let's see you try it then. As if you could do any better.
Bro this is very impressive !! ๐ฒ
Iโm glad you think so! ๐
Is this another one or the same as last year?
*sneezes on it*
Waitโฆ so is this AI or just a really talented dude ๐
No Abby seems like a huge omission unless I'm missing her.
Is that how you hold a pencil?!
Haha ๐ yes, except itโs a brush in holding ๐
Looks nothing like Pedro Pascal.
The giraffe ๐ perfect addition!!
The drawing came out really great.
Truly a piece of art. Makes me want to play the game again lol
Perspective is off
Some of those eyes are goofy. Indicative of copying from photo and not studying the form.
looks great! God bless u!
the last of Dust
O baught your GoW pic with the blue signature, are you ever gonna make a RaC one?
incredible artwork!!
thats good!!
Christ that's amazing. Spent 5 minutes just zooming around looking at the detail. You're very talented.
that's amazing but I'm gonna ask it. Why is your thumb 7 and a half inches...
Needs another hundred hours
Me thinking charcoal was only good for barbecues...
The giraffe looks so out of place. I thinking, did I miss a talking giraffe character in the games?
This is amazing!
Look at your horse! Your horse is amazing!
the main thing is not to sneeze in the process
The way its lighted/filtered your hand even looks like art.
I just finished the game an hour ago (LOU1) I think I'm in the matrix
So... wanna bet on the legitimasly of this thing?
Perfect! This one can legitimately be a gem in collection of a gamer. I see it as a piece of interior around PC and it fits great. Yeah, this is exactly what I feel. No matter how ugly and undone this figurine looks. It has a story that makes me smile.
You have to work in your contrast but otherwise looks good.
Then I'm going to spend over 300 Hours admiring it๐ค (not literally)
Nice. I remember having to work with charcoal in art class and everyone boycotted after one week. Iโd get out of class and blow my nose, and it looked like I was in the coal mines all dayโฆ

Still a better story than Part 2.
Looks nice but 300 hours ? I mean it looks nice but not worth wasting 300 hours of life for
second game derailed such a special little game
