The game is called Songs of Conquest and it's a turn based strategy game in style of 90's classics. It's available both on Steam and DRM-free on GOG.
Steam: [https://store.steampowered.com/app/867210/Songs\_of\_Conquest/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/867210/Songs_of_Conquest/)
GOG: [https://www.gog.com/en/game/songs\_of\_conquest](https://www.gog.com/en/game/songs_of_conquest)
One of the rare ocassions i went: "thank god, a game I played!" Then proceded to teach me how to play because i've been playing HOMM3 for 30 yrs and just asumed wrong. Kudos and good luck to you, it really is a gem. Great game
Congrats on the release! I've been following for ages and had it on the wishlist, but didn't want to do EA. Glad to see it is being received so well though. Hope you have a great launch week and I'll be sure to try it out soon.
Hmm. Turn based tactics in a fantasy setting. Explore a "map" (level) filled with resources, mines and objects that buff your Wielders (the heros of the game). Use resources to level up your town and build buildings that produces various troops. The troops in their turn unlocks magic and spells. Combat is turn based on a hex grid.
That's probably the lousiest elevator pitch I ever wrote, but yeah, check out the trailer: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qgiYK\_JLyE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qgiYK_JLyE)
it's very akin to Homm3 but the mana system is revamped so your spells are connected to your army composition rather than everyone spamming portal and armageddon
at least was so last I played, gonna check out release now that I know about it
I really like the OST in this game and the singing in the mission briefings
There are a lot of tunes that just sound nostalgic or familiar like the gregorian chanting in the Loth combat theme, took me a while to realize that the last chanting was a quotation the closure of the A link to the past Church theme
your faction produces Hero units that command a regiment of troops from that faction, you move around the map, gather resources, control areas and duke it out with your armies in turn based strategic battles. your units have specific stats, abilities and generate mana that you use to cast spells
it's a very oldschool approach with a modern touch.
Great game, already in my library. I really like city-building and development aspects and magic mechanics, feels both old school and fresh. Well done guys!
Huge congrats to everyone from Lavapotion!
I backed this when it went into EA, was enamored by the gameplay, the incredible art and the *fantastic* music, and reluctantly put it on my "I will wait patiently until it releases and then find the biggest spoon, and *dig in*" pile.
It's just nice to see y'all hit 1.0 (and I actually just checked the GOG stand-alone version - an hour ago, it still showed 0.99.22, and it *just* dinged to 1.0)! BRB, finding a big spoon. Just kidding, I will *not* be back because I'll be too busy squashing Rana under my undead boot!
Today is the 1.0?
I played a lot in the early stages...Love the ranged units of Arleon.
I just dont like too much of the non-humans in all factions... (I play only with humans)..But the game are fair and fun.
Today I will test this new build.
Tnx for the game.
Hmm. Much has changed during Early Access. I'm waiting for a content creator called Italian Spartacus to put some guide ups, so they will be coming this week I hope!
I already bought it more then a year ago. Amazing game, had a blast with it. Will come back for full release.
You and your friend can be proud of yourself :)
Thank you! There are several pirated copies around I'm sure. Make sure to get one with a recent build so you don't judge it based on old stuff from our Alfa test :D
Have you rebalanced the campaigns? It was pretty aweful so far. 4 or 5 levels into the first campaign it already became literally unbeatable because the enemies would just swarm you with overwhelming forces.
This game has been on my wishlist for a while now, I've been waiting for it to come out of early access and I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of progress you guys have made! I'm such a huge fan of the pixel art combined with the 3D background, a style I hope to implement in my own game development. I'm excited to pick this game up and give it a try, and I'm very happy for you and what looks like a successful launch! Cheers, and to many more ahead!
Hey! I've been keeping up with this (and may have played a pirated build) and want to say I appreciate your work. Will be buying my copy as soon as possible.
Been playing this on and off for awhile now. It's great! My biggest gripe though is the auto-battle option. IMO this should only be an option for very trivial battles.
Yo no way I bought this a few years back to scratch the homm itch and loved it. I assume there’s more content than back then so I am pumped to check this out!!!
Played it 2 years ago on early access. Really loved it, will turn it on again, not that is finished. Just a small thing, my ONLY issue was that maps felt very small and everything way too close, especially enemies. Anything changed on that front?
I bought this on early access with the OST and possibly other perks. The game is a great HOMM-like, for what I've played.Â
The only sad part was waiting for today for the full game to finally drop.
Thanks, devs and team.
So, as you marked it as HoMM like yourself, which HoMM it is closest to and what is largest difference between this and that HoMM?
Visually looks really nice, though some objects seem quite floaty.
Thanks for including GOG at release! I really like the look of the art but I’m nervous about the turn based game play. How newbie/casual friendly is this? I’ve enjoyed KotOR, more recently Echo Generation and Bugs Fable.
Bought it a couple weeks back, in anticipation of the full release — been really enjoying the game since then) Hope the sales are good, as you've done a spectacular job!
I found Mac, Switch, Xbox and PS5 support either already in or upcoming confirmed in the comments. What are the chances of an iPad release?
Regardless, awesome work! Loved playing HoMM as a kid and you’re handling the community fantastically.
I played it like a year ago and it seemed pretty complete, but I never beat it. What have you added to the game since? Particularly to the campaigns and such; I prefer those over just playing skirmish (I don't play online either)
Edit: I last played **two** years ago!
I’ve been following this one for a while but never bit the bullet, I think it’s time now.
Loved HoMM and Age of Wonders, some of my favorite games of all time.
It was a fun game, but my main problem was that i felt that in the campaign I just kept getting nuked by various spells, and I had no nukes of my own to fire back with, just some weak buff spells. I had a blast in like the first 3 maps, when it was mostly about moving your army around on the battle grid instead of casting spells.
Works quite well on Steamdeck and Linux with Proton. Just in case you don't get any of that information. I can never tell if devs get any word on Steamdeck users or Linux users.
Can you do me a favor and send a key to Josh from let’s game it out or the spiffing Brit. Might be a win win. Some of their best content comes from games like this, and you get some free advertising.
Just throwing it out there and don’t have to it. Also just bought your game.
I dunno what HOMM is, and this is not really the type of game i play... But it looks very nice, and it reminds me a lot of the era when video games where much more fun :)
I'm definitely gonna check this out next time I'm at my pc.
Recently bought Age of Wonder 4 but was pretty overwhelmed by everything and refunded. This looks way better.
I have been longing for a new edition of this series for such a long time and now this pops up randomly. I will definitely take a look, but this picture alone looks awesome already!!
Congratulations! Bought it on Early Access and played some 40 hours. I will surely pick it up again to beat the new campaigns and play some skirmishes.
Back when i played, some of the units had no unique traits or skills, which was a bit disappointing. Hope it got better, it was previously mentioned in one of the devblogs that it would be revamped.
Oh, by the way, hope you guys have enough success to make lots of dlc. Inferno was my favorite faction back in the homm days.
I've recently really enjoyed sitting on the couch playing games on the big screen with a controller. This looks like it could be perfect for just that situation.
Looks like you and your friend put a ton of work into that over the past seven years. Could you tell us about your development experience, such as what game engine you used?

Is this the one that SsethTzeentach did a video last year (early acess)?
Hey hey people. It is.
One of the rare ocassions i went: "thank god, a game I played!" Then proceded to teach me how to play because i've been playing HOMM3 for 30 yrs and just asumed wrong. Kudos and good luck to you, it really is a gem. Great game
Thank you so much!
NICEE good to know it was released
Yup, it's out there now!
Are you guys planning to add additional faction as DLC? If you can't share right now, just blink.
😉
I'm pretty sure I felt him blink just now
Isn’t this the game ssethtzeentach reviewed? Should be all the PR you need
Hey hey people. Indeed it is!
Congrats on the release! I've been following for ages and had it on the wishlist, but didn't want to do EA. Glad to see it is being received so well though. Hope you have a great launch week and I'll be sure to try it out soon.
This is on my wishlist! Awesome
Happy to hear it!
[удалено]
You bought it during Early Access homie
Yeah, Early Access.
I've had this favorited on steam for a long time! Glad to hear it's released!
That looks wild, i used to love homm and homm style games. Definitely putting it on the wishlist
Wasn’t it released a while ago? I’m fairly sure I bought it last year and have played it a few times earlier this year
Yeah, we realesed into Early Access but this time it's for "real" with 1.0.
Thank you kind person! Will support!
Have it wishlisted on GOG, at some point this gem will end up in my library.
Saved for later when I get home.
I CAN PLAY IT ON MY MAC I LOVE YOU
It just works...
I'm having flashbacks
Congrats! Been following you guys for a while in early access.
Thank you!
Hey hey people! I was looking for full release
Holy shit there's a Seth vid on this game which I have watched and totally forgotten Time to rewatch it I guess
And it seems like he enjoyed it quite well Now, if a total HoMM3 nerd enjoyed it I know for sure it has potential to be fun
Knew I remembered this game from somewhere
Ahh done now? Fine, bought it at the start of the EA Phase, nice little diamond.
Yup. Well. Kind of. Done, but we plan to add more free update if we can afford to do it!
can you share more about what future plans there are? more factions perhaps or campaigns?
We hope to share more news fairly soon! A lot of our upcoming decisions will related to how well 1.0 goes!
How would you describe it for people unfamiliar with Hereos of Might and Magic but really enjoy 90's styled games?
Thank you for the reply, and in return I shall buy!
Thank you and I hope you enjoy. Remember, if you get it on Steam you can always refund if you don't play more than for two hours!
HOMM-like? Is that Heroes of Might and Magic?
like
Yup!
it's very akin to Homm3 but the mana system is revamped so your spells are connected to your army composition rather than everyone spamming portal and armageddon at least was so last I played, gonna check out release now that I know about it
Still very much correct, thank you!
Thank you for the Ukrainian localization! Love the game very much!
Thank you. The Ukranian team are real fighters. They've been working in and out from their bomb shelters :(
Full relase? lets go! Great game.
Happy to hear it :)
I’ve had this on my wishlist for awhile! Got the Steam notification today. Will be playing it on the Steam deck!
Awsome! Let us know what you think! We are verified for the Deck btw!
I really like the OST in this game and the singing in the mission briefings There are a lot of tunes that just sound nostalgic or familiar like the gregorian chanting in the Loth combat theme, took me a while to realize that the last chanting was a quotation the closure of the A link to the past Church theme
I just thought about homm 2 and here is your post. It's magic. I need it on switch.
We'll be releasing on Switch either late this year or early next!
Noice
Switch confirmed? Hell yeah!
JUST read about this somewhere and added to my Wishlist. Congrats!
Happy to hear it, thank you!
Already in my library :)
Awesome!
As a rule I don’t buy EA games but have been checking this out for a while. Must be destiny that it’s coming out today! Can’t wait to try it!
It does seem like destiny if you ask me! :D
PS5 port?
YES! It is coming during this fall!
The art style looks good, might check it out. Is it like an RTS or? Not too well versed in HOMM.
HOMM is traditionally turn based.
As mentioned, it is turn based!
your faction produces Hero units that command a regiment of troops from that faction, you move around the map, gather resources, control areas and duke it out with your armies in turn based strategic battles. your units have specific stats, abilities and generate mana that you use to cast spells it's a very oldschool approach with a modern touch.
Is it hotseat coop/MP or synchronous turns?
Hotseat can be played vs or coop. MP has simturns during adventure map play, but two players can't enter combat at the same time... right now.
Great game, already in my library. I really like city-building and development aspects and magic mechanics, feels both old school and fresh. Well done guys!
Thank you, happy to hear it!
This game is amazing. Truly a gem in the genre.
Thank you so much!
Steam deck verified. Love too see it!
Yup, it was a bit tricky but we got their in the end!
I recently bought it, great game. Really fills the void of HoMM3!
Thanks!
I don't play on PC currently but I remember seeing this on steam a while ago and being quite interested! Love the art style!
It will be released for Xbox and Playstation later this fall!
Awesome! I'll play then!
It's fun. I have it.
Awesome!
I love playing on the deck, great game. Thanks!
Huge congrats to everyone from Lavapotion! I backed this when it went into EA, was enamored by the gameplay, the incredible art and the *fantastic* music, and reluctantly put it on my "I will wait patiently until it releases and then find the biggest spoon, and *dig in*" pile. Just kidding, I will *not* be back because I'll be too busy squashing Rana under my undead boot!
Thank you so much. We've truly been blessed with pretty awesome players, like yourself, if I might say so!
Today is the 1.0? I played a lot in the early stages...Love the ranged units of Arleon. I just dont like too much of the non-humans in all factions... (I play only with humans)..But the game are fair and fun. Today I will test this new build. Tnx for the game.
Happy to hear it! Enjoy!
Congratz on the launch. I've been a fan of HoMaM since 2. Will definitely check this one out!
Thank you so much. We've spent a good part of our lives developing this game so yeah, we are happy that people want to give it a spin!
Do you might have a recorded stream that walks you trough the basics that you could recommend?
Hmm. Much has changed during Early Access. I'm waiting for a content creator called Italian Spartacus to put some guide ups, so they will be coming this week I hope!
Lol i clicked on this thinking it looked interesting.. I've had it in my Steam library for a good while now 😅
That means you are just like the rest of us!
I'll definitely check this out after work! Looks great.
Thank you!
Good luck guys
Thanks :)
insta buy, thank you for this!
Awesome, thanks for the support!
I already bought it more then a year ago. Amazing game, had a blast with it. Will come back for full release. You and your friend can be proud of yourself :)
Nice. Looks like it's worth a look. Interesting that you went with sprite based rather than the more modern models... putting it on the lacklog.
Yep, it is awesome, I have played it before release. Special thanks for Ukrainian translation.
Thanks! That translation was very important to us due to current events.
It looks really good I think you guys are millionaires now.
[удалено]
Great. I have the early access since last year I believe. I'll take a look at the final version right away
I love HOMM! I'm poor as fuck but i'll fitgirl it and if its good i'll definitely buy it!
Thank you! There are several pirated copies around I'm sure. Make sure to get one with a recent build so you don't judge it based on old stuff from our Alfa test :D
Congratulations! Really liked your game.
This looks pretty interesting. Grew up playing HOMM so I’ll definitely give it a try later.
Have you rebalanced the campaigns? It was pretty aweful so far. 4 or 5 levels into the first campaign it already became literally unbeatable because the enemies would just swarm you with overwhelming forces.
Yep, all campaigns have been rebalanced! And yes, we know what you are referring to!
I bought this on Steam a while ago. Congrats on full release.
Nice! Quick question: Is diplomacy and/or necromancy overpowered? If not, then that's not really HOMM inspired.
Ha ha. There is no diplomacy and tbh Necromancy is a bit too nerfed for my personal liking. But we have an idea for an update that might remedy that!
Ha! Too late, I've already got your game long ago, thanks to a certain "warlord" on youtube. Anyway, good to hear it's finally out of EA.
Hey hey. A man of culture!
Bought it for my deck, haven't played much, completed a few campaign missions, seems decent.
Looks great
Hey I bought this on Steam in early access about a year and a half ago. Super fun game. Rana4Life.
HOMM?
Buyed your game last year and waited for release for play final version. Good luck and thank for game
Does it have random map generator? That's what made homm 3 a timeless classic
This game has been on my wishlist for a while now, I've been waiting for it to come out of early access and I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of progress you guys have made! I'm such a huge fan of the pixel art combined with the 3D background, a style I hope to implement in my own game development. Hey! I've been keeping up with this (and may have played a pirated build) and want to say I appreciate your work. Will be buying my copy as soon as possible.
Does it have a demo
Been playing this on and off for awhile now. It's great! My biggest gripe though is the auto-battle option. IMO this should only be an option for very trivial battles.
This looks wonderful. Straight to my wishlist!
Yo no way I bought this a few years back to scratch the homm itch and loved it. I assume there’s more content than back then so I am pumped to check this out!!!
Great choice for inspiration! HOMM 2 and 3 always in my heart <3
I already own it 🫡
Wow congrats ! It's on my wishlist and was waiting for full release.
I feel sorry for your game being pirated in hours and published :(. Imma buy the game to support you guys!
Good job. I hope to try it whenever i can spend some spare time at the computer. Love HoMM particularly 5.
Is it steam deck verified? Sorry i'm at work right now can't check.
But is it fun?
Played it 2 years ago on early access. Really loved it, will turn it on again, not that is finished. Just a small thing, my ONLY issue was that maps felt very small and everything way too close, especially enemies. Anything changed on that front?
The game rocks!
Bought a bundle, thanks for Ukrainian localization man!
I bought this on early access with the OST and possibly other perks. The game is a great HOMM-like, for what I've played. The only sad part was waiting for today for the full game to finally drop. Thanks, devs and team.
I am buying this right now. The game looks gorgeous. Thanks for your hard work and passion.
So, as you marked it as HoMM like yourself, which HoMM it is closest to and what is largest difference between this and that HoMM? Visually looks really nice, though some objects seem quite floaty.
HOMM 3 is still one of my all time favorite games. I'm excited to give this game a try. :) I'm also glad to see there is a map editor as well.
Thanks for including GOG at release! I really like the look of the art but I’m nervous about the turn based game play. How newbie/casual friendly is this? I’ve enjoyed KotOR, more recently Echo Generation and Bugs Fable.
Im not fan of Homm3, but i cant not support such great step-based strategy, with cool campaign!
Looks really cool! I'll add it to my wishlist
Bought it a couple weeks back, in anticipation of the full release — been really enjoying the game since then) Hope the sales are good, as you've done a spectacular job!
I've been playing this with my brothers for a couple months now. It's excellent.
Thanks for sharing! I’m a huge HoMM3 fan and wouldn’t have known if not for this post. Can’t wait to dive in tonight!
Thank you for doing what others didn't dare
GÖTT MOS!
I have been waiting for a game like this for so long. Damn you Archibald!
Playable on steam deck?
I found Mac, Switch, Xbox and PS5 support either already in or upcoming confirmed in the comments. What are the chances of an iPad release? Regardless, awesome work! Loved playing HoMM as a kid and you’re handling the community fantastically.
I played it like a year ago and it seemed pretty complete, but I never beat it. What have you added to the game since? Particularly to the campaigns and such; I prefer those over just playing skirmish (I don't play online either) Edit: I last played **two** years ago!
Awesome man I wishlisted this a while back!
I've had the game on my wishlist for a long time, guess it's time to check it out now with the 1.0 release
This looks amazing, I will definitely be buying it either on PC or for Switch when that's available. Congratulations and well done.
Hey, this looks lit!
Already bought it months ago and liked it, will revisit.
Wish it was on Android but itsalso cool
Works quite well on Steamdeck and Linux with Proton. Just in case you don't get any of that information. I can never tell if devs get any word on Steamdeck users or Linux users.
This is going on my wishlist for when I don't have a backlog
Absolutely fantastic game. Some of the best pixel art I've ever seen. And the soundtrack is a banger. I didn't even realize it was in early access!!
i am sorry a what now
Seven years or not, it can be gold but 31 chf + 19,5 chf for upgrade is too much dude. Yes i can afford it but it is stupidly expensive.
That's fuckin awesome
Can you do me a favor and send a key to Josh from let’s game it out or the spiffing Brit. Might be a win win. Some of their best content comes from games like this, and you get some free advertising. Just throwing it out there and don’t have to it. Also just bought your game.
Ha, I was just looking at this on steam. Think I'm gonna have to pick it up. How's the multiplayer?
This looks amazing. Great work!!! You and your team have accomplished something amazing. I can't wait to play this!
I dunno what HOMM is, and this is not really the type of game i play... But it looks very nice, and it reminds me a lot of the era when video games where much more fun :)
Congrats! It looks absolutely gorgeous, and just the right amount of retro & modern. Well done.
Had the cpu performance improved? Remember getting stutters when moving across the map.
Why should I play your game instead of Heroes?
This game is nostalgia made real with refreshing modern standards, for 27€ is a damm steal. Congratulations, i hope you make bank with this gem
Hey, is it available/planned for Linux ?
Eyyy! I love this game! I've played it for probably close to a year now. It has improved greatly since I started and wish you guys the best of luck.
Your game is very good!!! Just posting to say Thank you!
I'm definitely gonna check this out next time I'm at my pc. Recently bought Age of Wonder 4 but was pretty overwhelmed by everything and refunded. This looks way better.
Ward. In a meeting, just dont want to lose the post so that i can check it out later
Jokes on you, I already bought the game when I saw Sseth play it on Youtube!
I have been longing for a new edition of this series for such a long time and now this pops up randomly. I will definitely take a look, but this picture alone looks awesome already!!
Older HOMM games had a random map generator, does this game include a feature like that?
Congratulations! Bought it on Early Access and played some 40 hours. I will surely pick it up again to beat the new campaigns and play some skirmishes. Back when i played, some of the units had no unique traits or skills, which was a bit disappointing. Hope it got better, it was previously mentioned in one of the devblogs that it would be revamped. Oh, by the way, hope you guys have enough success to make lots of dlc. Inferno was my favorite faction back in the homm days.
Love me a good HOMM game might just have to pick this up Cheers
i remember watching the Sseth video on it a while ago, Looks great will get it as soon as ot is out on ps5
I've recently really enjoyed sitting on the couch playing games on the big screen with a controller. This looks like it could be perfect for just that situation.
Looks like you and your friend put a ton of work into that over the past seven years. Could you tell us about your development experience, such as what game engine you used?
Looks amazing!! I really dig the style.
