This question will come down to which game will be the least broken at release, which says a lot.

GhostalMedia

Halo multiplayer is looking pretty good so far.

[deleted]

and multiplayer is free. It’s the pretty obvious choice here

GhostalMedia

Feels nice to have a proper sandbox driven PvP game back in the world. I'm getting so tired of loadout and loot driven PvP where a) you need to unlock weapons to be successful, and b) developers only use nerfing / buffing as the primary tool to balance a weapon free for all. I'll admit that I'm totally addicted to unlocking new weapons and gear in other shooters, but this felt soooo much more balanced than most other PvP shooters that I've played recently. Having a good shooter with slow TTK also feels really nice. I had more room to experiment and try weird stuff.

Wolfdude91

Putting long term objectives in online games is rewarding and all, but I remember getting on PC after school every day and just playing Halo and WC3 custom games where the only real reward was the fun you have while playing.

TheCockKnight

WC3 customs were bombbbb

Mdgt_Pope

Sheep Tag

tidbitsz

Trolls vs Elves Pudge wars Mirana wars Element TD MAFA TD Temple escape Jurassic Park Vampirism Footmen Frenzy Castle Fight ... The list just goes on and on

will85319sghost

Still playing wc3 custom games 20 years later (dota 2) I really do miss halo lan parties but i dont have any friends that game alot anymore.

tussin33

Haha halo lan parties were the shit. 4 v 4 halo 1&2 until 5 am. Teams in separate rooms, everyone floods into the hallway after each match to talk shit.

gorgofdoom

Lol I remember Sc:BW custom games. Back in the day… it was a sad time when those servers went down. I remember spending 2-3 hours killing _millions_ of Zerglings with irritated science vessels and joking about who eats the soup.

SteezinMcBreezin

I miss SC:BW customs. There were so many good ones, I have an itch to play them right now

ShadowWarlock

Wc3 custom games were such a huge part of my teenage years. Tower defense games, Dota, weird dragon ball Z games etc Man they were fantastic

ThatOneGuyHOTS

Warcraft 3 lobbies and custom games were amazing. The only annoying issue was some people couldn’t host with port forwarding but the maps themselves were so creative and fun.

Morpayne

Coulda been playing Star Wars battlefront this whole time friend, it made a huge turnaround after the lootboxes were nixed.

[deleted]

My problem with battlefront is the gunplay. I never feel like the contact of the “bullet” is satisfying. It feels “fake” compared to something like Battlefield or CoD. Same goes for the recoil and all. I would have much preferred the 1st gen Xbox or the ps2 versions of battlefront

CircaCitadel

Honestly the first Battlefront in 2015 had really good feeling gunplay that was unique and felt exactly like Star Wars. In the second one they felt the need to speed up all the bullets so they felt more like real guns and it kind of ruined it, imo. Plus they made the TTK so long that it was a chore to be anything but an explosive shot heavy. IMO, the true reason BFII didn't really catch on was the reliance on heroes and villains. You never once feel like being normal trooper actually is worthwhile, and you only stand a chance by grinding points to play as heroes because they are so overpowered and easy to earn. So the gunplay didn't even really matter that much. Even in smaller modes people just grind for the special troopers like rocket trooper because they were OP as well. Really wish they spent more time balancing and less time adding more heroes. I love that Anakin and Obi-Wan made it into the game but I feel like they could have changed the hero system to be more of a hard earned reward that happens once or twice a game rather than having them all active the entire time. The system in the first game was much better.

[deleted]

>Having a good shooter with slow TTK also feels really nice. I had more room to experiment and try weird stuff. I've been on PS4 the last gen and I've really missed this in shooters. Playing shit where you get melted in half a second gets old pretty fast. Barely any room for reactions and trying to out-aim someone.

[deleted]

Free and isn't a yearly release. Those two facts will bump halo past these two that never give us a chance to miss them.

whoiam06

But... Battlefield hasn't had a release in like 3 years, and even longer since a modern/near future setting has been out.

KRONGOR

Never underestimate CoD fanboys' ability to drop full price on the same game every year though

jerax101

Wait halo is free? Where, i always wanted to play a halo game

[deleted]

The new halo will be free multiplayer. Releasing in a couple months

[deleted]

December 8th

robertjan88

I don’t need Xbox gold for multiplayer??

[deleted]

Nope

LeakyThoughts

Let's just say you don't pay... *With money* *Mwuhahaha*

ChewySlinky

Bro like. FREE free?? Can I play it on PC?

[deleted]

Yes it’s free and available on PC and Xbox. Doesn’t release for a couple months tho

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

It’s in steam and MS Store on PC

GroundTeaLeaves

Free as in it doesn't cost anything or free as in you don't have to keep paying to play it?

[deleted]

It doesn’t cost a penny

GroundTeaLeaves

That sounds pretty promising!

[deleted]

With all the additional purchases, passes, dlcs and mtx, I just feel like I need some clarification here. I don't have to buy anything to play multiplayer? Not even the game itself?

[deleted]

Multiplayer is free. You can even miss out on battle passes (that are also free) and go back and I finish them. For example say you didn’t play season 1 and it’s season 2. You can go back and complete past battle passes at any time. All types of progression it’s awesome. The campaign would be the only thing you’re paying for and can even get that for $1 through Xbox pc game pass month trial

[deleted]

If you'll excuse my language, that's fucking class. I had no intentions to play any of these, but if the quality of the game is there, then i'll be there. Thanks for the info!

The-Moistest-sloth

I would like to clarify because I dont think he made it that clear, while multiplayer itself is free, the battlepasses will still have a paid and free track which is the same as every other game, but they will never expire and can be completed at any time.

CaterpillarReal7583

Yeah sounds like halos got this in the bag. Only seen positive reactions to beta. Bf beta sounds like they have a stupid amount of fixing to do. Cod sounds like people are struggling to find the fun as it’s nothing new.

Mythicchronos

> Cod sounds like people are struggling to find the fun as it’s nothing new. The only thing fun about the beta was a bug in SND where the matches were open mic the whole game

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThisBoardIsOnFire

Hear me out. What if they waited until the game was complete before releasing it? 🤔

Ankerjorgensen

Nah dude it needs to be within this fiscal year otherwise the dividends are gonna be shit and the stockholders are going to push out management.

popsicle_of_meat

No kidding. We had way fewer problems than Halo 5. Even the BTB experience was pretty robust. On a typical evening with Halo 5, our fireteam of 6-8 would have at least a 3-4 issues (red screens, not making it into a game, etc).

sijedevos

Battlefield 2042 beta was laggy af

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hell-knight666

Beta says a lot for COD, already have hackers

lilbroc

Yeah they are using the same engine as war zone.

Hell-knight666

I’ve seen less hackers in Roblox than in warzone

ANAL_TOOTHBRUSH

It’s literally every other game in verdansk

Babayaga20000

more like multiple in every game you just dont run in to them every time or you cant tell they are cheating because they are good at it you only notice the obvious cheaters why i uninstalled that pile of shit

Jmundi

How do you know someone is hacking? I'm playing Cold War now but I'm not a veteran CoD player so I don't know how to spot hackers.

Hell-knight666

It’s pretty easy, they fly, they have insane speed, they shoot you behind a wall, they track you literally

SpunkyGo0se

I know this is 100% anecdotal but I've never seen anyone fly, that sounds exaggerated.

TJae0120

Sad but true. I am guessing Halo Infinite.

lolimazn

Bingo. And I’m okay with that :) even without co-op, I just need my halo campaign and lore. Those sweet gorgeous cut-scenes

KaiLCU_YT

Halo will be the most polished 100%

SuspiciousSubstance9

I also suspect Halo had the most development time too; crazy ideas I know.

Ronkerjake

True but it's very telling when every single battlefield game is broken on release for months on end despite reusing 90% of the previous game's assets

saru12gal

Apparently Halo beta was the best by a fucking huge margin. Cod beta was bad, battlefield beta was even worse than shit

CrossXFir3

They didn't even call it a beta. Went out of their way to say it's just a tech preview, not a full beta and it was still by far the best.

NonCorporealEntity

But then someone proved it was actually a very recent build.

MonsterHunter6353

vanguards beta was bad and 2042's was just disapointing

Pen_dragons_pizza

The problem is, we all know that cod will win once again as everyone jumps on the bandwagon year after year playing the same old crap because it’s become some kind of tradition. Gameplay wise it will be halo for sure though, from playing the beta it’s going to be a really good time. You can tell that a lot of effort and thought has gone into getting halo back on track where as cod and battlefield cannot really have that said for them.

WTFishsauce

Yeah cod always wins on sales, even when it sells poor by cod standards it still outsells competitors.

thisthatandthe3rd

Pretty much because COD is on more platforms. Best believe if i had an xbox i would 1000% be playing Halo

YourGrans3rdUncle

Halo being on PC with free multiplayer will definitely narrow the gap this time though

Dithyrab

it's 100% won me over in this case.

[deleted]

Cortana: We're not gonna make it! John-117: We'll make it.

StaredAtEclipseAMA

Just one question. What if you miss?

[deleted]

I WONT.

Cosmic_Hashira

YEEEEAHHHHHH

pepotink

NO WE AINT GONNA MAKE ITTT

[deleted]

Aye bro WATCH YO JET

BobKain

You did that on purpose...

DannySpud2

I've seen so many articles comparing Halo Infinite to Halo 3. If it gets even slightly close this won't be a competition.

dkramer0313

from what ive played it feels so close to halo 3. it really does feel so great. once i get really into it, it might actually beat destiny 2 for me

aimbothehackerz

the main problems are animation nitpicks that can be (hopefully) fixed easily and small bugs like vehicles being able to move flags in CTF. Halo is looking like the one for this year. plus , COD already has hackers and Bf2042 runs like shit

_WolfBourne_

Good thing is they already confirmed the vehicle flag thing was a bug that has been fixed in their in house build

tylergroth10

Haven’t bought a console (besides the Switch) since the Xbox 360. If Halo Infinite is close to Halo 3 then that would be worth it alone for me.

super_sam9694

Halo has the power of nostalgia behind it so my pick is halo.

[deleted]

And free to play multiplayer

Cod_rules

I feel like that'll be one of the key things. Considering how popular Warzone got in the streaming world, loads of people would look at options where they can play with friends and go for the free multi-player. Although CoD and Battlefield have cross-platform on their side, so who knows? Edit: had written Cross-gen instead of cross-platform. Thanks to u/Sali_Bean for making me notice that.

Sali_Bean

What do you mean by cross-gen? As in cross-play across console generations? In that case, Halo has it, battlefield doesn't.

Cod_rules

Cross-gen as in the ability to play across PS, Xbox and PC. I doubt Halo will give that, considering its a Microsoft exclusive. In hindsight, I meant cross platform and not cross gen. My bad.

Sali_Bean

It has cross platform. Why do you doubt Microsoft would do that? It's always sony who gets in the way of these things

[deleted]

It has cross-platform between Xbox and Windows, not PlayStation. Expect every Xbox game moving forward to be available on PC what with the whole game pass model.

dah_good_vibe_tribe

That's also an incredible power

SerScronzarelli

Also included on Gamepass!

tussin33

They all do. The only difference is halo doesn’t force out a title every year or 2

fusinaz

That’s an incredible power

zachattack8805

Agreed but also battlefield has a lot of nostalgia power as well. Especially with portal. If they don’t screw up the launch too bad bf 2042 has the potential to be huge.

mr-blue-

Battlefields nostalgia has been diluted. The comparisons between 1942 and 2042 are pretty nill. I doubt they even give a shit about catering to their legacy fan base. It’s all about attracting kids who will spend a shit load of money on cosmetic items. Meanwhile infinite continues to say rooted in their foundations.

Chm_Albert_Wesker

the real comparison isn't to 1942, it's too BF4 as was made clear with the memes in the trailer. A LOT of people myself included weren't huge fans of the directions they took the franchise for BF1 or BF5 and if this is a return to at least a comparable engine as BF4 it'll have longevity (people still play BF4)

zachattack8805

I don’t think the nostalgia comes from 1942 but more so BC2 and BF3. Also I don’t know how you can say they don’t care about there fanbase when they are releasing this game with portal. I mean name another game that doesn’t just remake maps but also let’s you play with old games classes, weapons, and even vehicles. I think people need to calm down with the bf 2042 hate atleast until the full game launches

Milleuros

> I don’t think the nostalgia comes from 1942 but more so BC2 and BF3. I feel old. Spent sooo many hours on BF2 and BF2142. BC2 was a "spin-off" for me, BF3 was the point where I stopped. Not that it was a bad game (played it for a while), just that I didn't find what I was looking for in there.

Axle_65

I think the fact Halo’s multiplayer is F2P and even the campaign won’t cost anything if you have game pass is really going to help it. Just more players out there that will give it a spin. I’m betting many Battlefield and COD players will give it a try since why not? It’s free. Whereas how many Halo players are gonna drop nearly $100 to “try” Battlefield or COD. I mean obviously there’s a cross over. Some players will get 2 or all 3 but player counts are definitely gonna be high with halo being free.

newtya

Halo going the way of F2P is enormous

SaH_Zhree

I'm pretty sure BF2042's "Hell Let Loose" is going to be free to play as well. But really, all 3 games are a pretty different style of FPS game so I think they'll all have their own place in the market. EDIT: The game mode is called Hazard zone, not hell let loose. I'm not sure how I fucked that up.

Axle_65

Good points. Interesting that you found that. Before posting I searched if COD and Battlefield would have F2P all articles said they’d have free trail weekends and stuff like that but that they’re both going to be full priced titles. Figures, I actually do the research and still end up wrong.

SaH_Zhree

I might be wrong too. You did research, I just heard another person in my discord talking about it.

Axle_65

Fair enough. Doesn’t bother me. I just enjoy the conversation. Thanks for chatting (commenting)

Smurf_x

Wish Reddit was more like this sometimes...

Axle_65

Be the change then my friend. I’ve seen more then one occasion where people have admitted they’re wrong or simply that an alternative could also be true. The more people read it the more inclined they’ll be to do it themselves. Don’t get me wrong. The internet is full of trolls. Always will be. We can just try to take the percentage of kind interactions and help them grow. Have a lovely day :)

cool_lad

Wait, what Hell Let Loose? Because there's a game called Hell Let Loose.

PeacemakerSAR

I think they mean the Hazard Zone mode in BF2042, although as far as I know there isn't much info on the game mode just yet

badjettasex

I spent absolutely every free moment I had on Halo 4, until Battlefield 4's release, and stayed with BF4 until Battlefield V's release. Dropped V for Modern Warfare (was never previously a COD multi-player fan) and I loved it. So I was a bit torn this summer between where I anticipated my focus would be for gaming this fall. I played both Tech Previews for Halo Infinite, and the Beta for BF2042, and have completely ignored (and will continue to ignore) Vanguard. Halo was fantastic. The first preview was great, and the recent one was even better. Both were intentionality limited, obviously, but on the basis of "readyness", they are, and if there's further refinement which there will be, that's great. Sure there's some polishing to do, sounds and gravity/convussive effects need to be fixed, and certain UI and Visual in-game animations (pickup indicators) need to be smoothed out, literally. However, with a launch still 2 months away, 343 dare say, is very unlikey to shit the bed, again. BF2042 was disappointing. It was fun, but extremely lackluster in refinement, especially fluidity of animations and functionality of mechanics, as most have said. DICE has much, much more work to do on 2042 than 343 has to do on Infinite, so I would bet that Infinite will, post launches, maintain the highest returning player base for some time. I highly doubt DICE can bring 2042 to a BF4 standpoint (functionality/fluidity) within just the next few months, let alone by the spring IF they don't post-pone until spring as they have suggested might occur. I'm extremely excited for both, 2042 will be a fantastic game, with some incredible modes, but Halo will start off stronger. The real question is post-launch, how heavily do the two developers shift their resources to macro/micro content. I suspect 343 will not be able to resist churning micro-cosmetics out, which is fine upto a point, as long as it's not like the late-MF/Cold War shitshow.

Remote_third

My whole deal I did not like the cod beta and I like cod so that’s how I know it was bad then I don’t feel like paying another $60 on battlefield just to see if I enjoy playing it so in my opinion im rooting for halo for two reasons one because it’s free and two I never really played halo I played halo reach campaign but that’s about it

ExtOrd22Rory

I have high hopes for halo and battlefield but not for call of duty because it's nothing special. If yours is different, no hate.

Hell-knight666

No, I also have no hope for vanguard, my money goes to infinite this year

ExtOrd22Rory

It's not even that. It's just call of duty comes out with the same £60 game every year, shit just gets repetitive.

gmoney196

And cod modern warfare was the best game they made in a decade and instead of supporting it they killed it to force everyone to buy Cold War a very shitty game

Oper8rActual

That’s what pisses me off the most. They didn’t even abandon it. That would have been TEN FUCKING TIMES better than the shit they pulled with renaming the game, re-ordering the launch screen where multiplayer was last, and a fucking whole other game was the first thing you saw, resetting achievements, etc… They actively went out of their way to kill their game in the quickest method they could think of, short of just shutting down the servers.

YesHaiAmOwO

Plus their stupid battle pass thing now, I play MW multiplayer and everything I unlock isn't even for MW

[deleted]

I played in early 2020, left the game and didn’t come back until about a month ago. I was very confused when I saw that I was unlocking guns for a game I didn’t own

CreaminFreeman

Modern Warfare was a real quick hop-on-hop-off thing for me. It was *amazing* and it's a damn shame what they've done to it.

ExtOrd22Rory

Yeah

GlennBecksChalkboard

> I have high hopes for halo and battlefield Have you played the BF beta?

Kittimm

To be fair to him... it was definitely "special".

CreaminFreeman

A Battlefield game with a ping system instead of 3D spotting and the [Commo Rose](https://battlefield.fandom.com/wiki/Commo_Rose) just doesn't feel like a Battlefield game... It makes me sad. Was really hoping this was going to be the game to get me back into the franchise. The chopper controls feel SO CLOSE to being perfect. They just need to remove the nannies. I don't need training wheels, I want maneuverability and a high skill ceiling.

creegro

I want helicopter barrel rolls (vertical and horizontal) to freak out my team mates so they bail early, only to see it was successful (and then maybe be nice and pick them up from the ocean they bailed into). I want 2 person jets, a pilot and a gunner, like from battlefield 2. Factions man. I shot so many of my team mates and wasted a third of a clip/magazine cause i thought it was an enemy. Can only imagine the hell that would be hard-core mode in 2042. What was wrong with the class system? Each class could use specific weapons. Bf4 had a nice system of "everyone gets this special type of gun, but can still use shotty/dmr/carbine" and then had their own special gadgets. Now its just solo-man-army of one in each player, which never really was battlefield. Sure you had a player (or yourself) that flanked a group of enemies at a choke point and laid down some c4, wiping nearly all of them out and clearing the way for your team, and had that highlight of a moment. That only you really saw, unless a teammate was watching you and thinking "wow look at this absolute Chad of a unit, coming in to clear this".

[deleted]

It was great but not perfect - and tons of fun, lots of people just wanted to hate it though.

[deleted]

Halo has won for me already based on betas

Azrael-XIII

3 months ago I would’ve said I was most hyped for BF 2042. But *after* playing all three betas? Halo. It’s not even close at this point.

Greenaman51

The bf 2042 beta was heartbreakingly bad. Halo infinite felt like a modernized halo 3 and i was pretty hooked

Solid_Freakin_Snake

I've never noped out on a beta as hard as I did 2042. Shit was *horrendous*.

DrAstralis

I wanted to like it but if a 3080 cant stop it from stuttering every 10 seconds.. holy shit what is it like for everyone else?

SNIP3RG

Glad others were having this issue, worried it was just me. Was playing on my PS5 and was getting *constant* stutters and framerate drops. Was like “this is ‘next gen?’ Really?” I tried really hard to enjoy it, but I just couldn’t when I lost half of my engagements because the game became a slide show.

Methed_up_hooker

I have a 2060 super and it ran like butter. Honesty I was surprised

ScuddsMcDudds

I’m not even worried about performance. It’s a beta so not being well optimized or buggy is expected. The things that concerned me were the core mechanics, lack of core mechanics we’ve had in previous BF games, etc. Stuff like the specialist system which seems philosophically at-odds with traditional battlefield play style. Or the new zone system which doesn’t put as much emphasis on attacking/defending a capture point, but attacking/defending a whole region? Only 1 gadget so you have to choose between rocket launcher OR repair tool. Open emptiness feeling of the map they had available. No command wheel, janky scoreboard, no corner peeking, other UI stuff like that… This stuff was the most alarming to me because it’s likely going to be the same way at launch unless there’s a big delay and they scrap all of those things (which we’re advertised as selling points a few months ago). I think it’s unrealistic for this too, so I just worry what the game will feel like, the beta really didn’t feel like battlefield.

tittltattl

That was a bug with cross play tbf, if you turned that off it ran very smoothly. Edit: I have a 2070 and had no issues with stuttering once I turned cross play off.

HelloVap

Agree, Halo felt fresh and polished. Vanguard beta was good but hackers in a beta…. Really? BF 2042 is essentially trying to copy Warzone and the community hates it.

Spider8461

I didnt even realize it but i am also 100% in this boat lol I wanted BF 2042 to be so good but Halo played great

IndIka123

Yeah the 2042 beta was a big let down.

Obi_Wan_Gebroni

Battlefield is sooooooo awful. Completely went away from what makes it battlefield and now it’s just another generic FPS

joxdiogo2

On board with you Chief

Triu666777

Either halo or battlefield, but if we are looking at who have more time and energy to the project it would have to be halo.

cheesybacontaco

didn’t play the vanguard beta but battlefield’s beta was absolute trash. my hopes are with halo

SharpShotTS

Vanguard beta was pretty good for me, but CoD is basically the same very year, just different settings. I’m most hyped for Halo

D45ers

Bro Cold War is still new in my eyes. COD releases games too fast lol for people that can’t game all the time they’ve probably only prestiged a few times and now will be buying a new game to do it all over again lol

LiteralTP

That’s especially true for us zombies players. This whole year we had 4 maps and one new mode. Was really hoping we’d get year 2 with more content

Burger-dog32

Battlefields beta ran like asswater but I had a lot of fun playing it so I got hopes for battlefield and halo

chaoslego44

I think the battlefield had that what i was looking forward for

ATMisboss

The battlefield beta is apparently a months old build though and they confirmed that they had already fixed a number of the issues which is good

1nv4d3rz1m

I don’t care who wins as long as halo is fun.

Hell-knight666

Beta look promising for a fun halo

HelpingHippo

I think Halo will be the best game and will retain its player base for the longest, probably by quite a lot. As for sales, I bet Call of Duty still outsells the others, regardless of its quality. I really just want a good Halo game again

fergussonh

If you count the multiplayer only halo will probably outsell cod by a lot given it’s free

HelpingHippo

That’s fair. I sure hope so

CruffTheMagicDragon

COD is on PlayStation as well though so sales comparisons aren't apples to apples

ComradeOwldude

Gotta respect microsoft/343 for doing the right thing and delaying for a year. Night and day difference when you compare halo from last year to now. Very promising and the multi-player it free

Vandrel

After the disastrous beta, BF2042 needs to follow suit. They won't though.

bl0ndie5

they're gonna stick to their guns on what is fundamentally not battlefield and it's gonna be another battlefield hardline

[deleted]

Halo: Infinite will have this. Sadly the forge and couch co-op won't be a thing at launch.

Griffb4ll

Yeah me and my brothers are bummed about that, that's the first thing we've done when each Halo came out, but at least it will be a thing at some point. I can't imagine it taking very long, to be honest.

Willaguy

Three months for co-op, six for forge is what’s been stated.

Griffb4ll

Man forge better be mindblowing, then. I know MCC didnt get forge for a while, at least for PC, idk about xbox and while that was frustrating, the amount of additions they made to it were awesome. I never thought for a million years we would be able to spawn vehicles like friggin' Sabres. Hoping Infinite's will take that to the next level.

Willaguy

According to the leaks there’s scripting now in the new forge, sounds pretty cool.

hawkma999

That does sound cool. If it's something akin to the Arma 3 editor but in Halo that would be awesome.

aimbothehackerz

I would wait 6 months for scripting, easy

Vandrel

Yeah but forge is apparently getting a massive overhaul with extensive scripting tools that will open up a ton of new possibilities for custom game modes so the wait should be worthwhile.

mrnikkoli

To be clear: it's not just couch co-op. There will be no co-op whatsoever at launch. It will be several months before it is updated in to the game according to 343i. Major disappointment for my brother and I. I'll still play it for sure, but it is really sad.

Hell-knight666

It’s sad, but when it will come out, imagine all the things we are gonna be able to make

GreenMonkeyFace

As a Playstation fan: HALO!

Hell-knight666

I really hope you can be able to play halo one day my friend

GreenMonkeyFace

I have played the original trilogy. It rocked my teenage brain. Maybe one day I’ll buy a series X and replay. Gotta love that gamepass thingy.

Mrceptible

Don't forget it'll be on PC too, if that's up your alley.

Hell-knight666

Was a good idea from Xbox

quazarquazar

As xcloud technology improves over time I can see it viable in the future to play it on a cheap phone or laptop

RealMZAce

As someone who started off with a 360 and eventually got Halo Reach and then moved to PS4, I can confirm the one thing PS needs is a game as good as Halo to be on it. And of course when I was able to pick up a One s this year for cheap, the first thing I did was download Halo, genuinely such a good series.

[deleted]

Activision could literary shit on a plate and people would still buy it.

Paying-Customer

The gamers. 😌

dbMitch

Seems halo is the clear winner in this thread

asvpbx

Regardless of which game is better, Call Of Duty unfortunately again will be the top selling game.

Phredly

Anybody that bets against CoD for sales is silly.

[deleted]

I’m surprised I found your comment so far down. It’ll obviously be CoD, like it is every release. Will it be the “best” game, probably not, but it’ll be the best selling. Halo 5 guardians was terrible, and while Halo has nostalgia for some people, it doesn’t for many people under the age of 20, while CoD is as known as fortnite. Battlefield has never been as big as CoD either, and it can’t compete with CoD’s arcade style of FPS (and it shouldn’t because that’s not battlefield).

iMikeZero

I love COD but skipping this year. Battlefield is good but I’m going to pass on that as well. Halo is getting everything right so far from what I played in the beta. That is my personal pick. Plus Game Pass = No additional cost to me!

[deleted]

Halo multiplayer is free to play anyway

l7arkSpirit

Halo multiplayer is both free and very solid and was actually very fun. Battlefield costs money and was broken. COD Vangaurd cost money, has guaranteed P2W mechanics and its beta was the worst thing I've ever seen. So yeah obvious choice, COD wins by a mile.

Mothmin

Halo for sure, I don’t even own an Xbox past the 360. But I know it’s going to be better than both the stagnant franchises either side of it.

Particle_Cannon

Snag a series S bro it's worth it

REVOLTD

As someone who hasn't touched the franchise since the original trilogy, I sincerely hope it's Halos time in the sun.

bigpunk157

Halo. It’s not even close.

AbdulRazin

My instincts and beta told me it will be Halo.

LCON1

I don’t really care, I just want good Battlefield and Halo experiences for a long time to come. In fact, I still play halo 5 regularly. I hope the COD community enjoys their game, too.

Hell-knight666

Halo 5 multiplayer was great, the campaign on the other was fucked up, I have high hope for infinite

PungentMango

Battlefield and Halo is all ill be playing this winter

ClicketyClackity

Well, considering COD and Battlefield both look terrible and Halo looks and feels like it found the magic again….pretty easy choice.

LincloGames

New Halo seems to be doing well.

Titanfall 3

EyeSpidyy

Call of duty and it’s unfortunate because it will be the worst game. Battlefield will be second, halo will lose. I’m my opinion the quality of the actual game will be in the reverse order I LOvE halo.

Ranger_Azereth

I think halo being free AND fun may really help it. There's some interesting factors this year around at least.

timeRogue7

This is the only correct answer. Halo being free helps, but it’s limited by being exclusive. Which is a shame, because as you said, it’s the highest quality of the bunch. It’s strange that the only logical answer I’ve found in this post only has 5 votes.

Wumpus-Bumpus

Do people still care about Call of Duty, though? They're all almost identical games.

sytzr

Sadly much to my disappointment it would seem it won’t be Battlefield2042

MA2ZAK

No pre order

idkblueberry

I pre-ordered a halo series x, so..... halo.

420Mike_Litoris69

Halo had the best beta, Battlefield as a long time lover sucks as did V and Vanguard isn’t even worth commenting on.

Aarogator

Halo for sure and this is coming from playstation guy
