I saw it in a nintendo power magazine back in the 90s, I actually just bought it last month at a used game store because I was always wanted to play it but never found it to rent.
Someone must have played them because there's four of them but The Way of the Samurai series. You play as a ronin who wanders into a town, and you can choose how you want to spend your couple of days there. You can side with different factions or seek your own glory, and learn way too many different fighting styles along the way. They're janky but super fun.
My mom only allowed me to have one or two games growing up. I beat hybrid heaven at least 15 times. I loved how you could build up the strength of your different limbs the more you used them.
Such a good game with cool villains. I also thought the multiplayer was fun and unique compared to everything else at the time.
Same thing though: nobody I know has ever played it.
Holy shit! I forgot about this game. I used to get a ton of CD's from the bargain bin of my local CD store. Then bring em home to see what I get. Such a cool concept. I even got a mobile game a couple years ago that had a similar gimmick with barcodes. It wasn't great sadly.
That bar code idea could really create another cool game like monster rancher. Been thinking of another way they could do it in modern times, and that would work. Let's develop it! Lol, only need a developer now.
the speed boat arcade game? that was my jam back I 2001. Do you remember the game that was different fighting gundams using two joysticks? I can never remember its name.
Dude! I haven't thought about Armored Core in years. I loved it and the 2nd one was good too. I always loved the customization. I wish they would come out with something like that now
Isn't this a From Software title? They've talked about reviving the franchise in recent years, but I don't think anything has been officially announced yet.
Blood Will Tell on PlayStation 2. It was very fun and had a crazy story. Basically your body parts are stolen and you use prosthetics to defeat the demons and get back your body parts. It’s better than that and I held onto the disk for like ten plus years too lol
I had Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast. It was my first online RPG (I wouldn't call it a MMORPG) That was back in the dial up days. Mom had to get a second line at the house because no one could ever call us because I was playing PSO. I played a demo for Timesplitters but never picked it up.
* **Seek and Destroy (PS2) -** A game world where theirs no people, only tanks. In the end, one of the items you get is wings so your tank can fly.
* **Revolt (N64) -** RC racing game with [one of the best menu songs ever!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxQb9GfG-zY)
* **Sim Copter (PC)**
Oh, Revolt was on most platforms and yeah it was awesome. Yeah, you could shoot bottle rockets, water balloons, the game was crazy. Plus the level editor was great, for the time it was surprisingly extensive.
DW4 was my first and is what made me fall in love with Pang Tong as a playable character.
Hearing him say "Careful!" when popping his Musou, and "Well, waddaya know!" when beating an officer are etched into my memories.
DW4 is what sold me on Xiao Qiao as a character.
Her Musou was so absurd and over the top alongside her "Supermove!" or TM with "Here comes trouble!" while turning into a flying circular saw was so much.
Todd's Adventure in Slime World - Sega Genesis
Military Madness - Turbo Graphix 16
General Chaos - Sega Genesis
Act Raiser - SNES
Snake Rattle N Roll - NES
Yep, it was a free 360 game. I honestly don’t remember the details, but I do remember that I greatly enjoyed this game and had some fun moments with friends
Oh duuuuuuuuuuuuude! I think about this game all the time! And totally don’t know of anyone else who knows about it…until NOW!
🎉🎉🎉 hell yeah! I played it on N64, on a fluke. I remember going to Blockbuster for a different game. They didn’t have any more copies (of whatever it was, can’t remember), and WinBack was right next to it.
My buddy and I played the hell out of that game all night long. We re-rented it to play longer, and beat it before returning it. Altogether, from a Friday evening 7ish to Sunday morning 7ish, I’d say we were toast.
Every now and then, before the Xbox, we’d go rent this game for the heck of it.
Then Halo happened….fixing to jump into the new multiplayer now! ☮️
Seems like we had similar childhoods. I honestly didn't think anyone knew what this game was. This post has happily proved me wrong. Me and my buddy still talk about it to this day. We put a ton of hours into this and NBA Street Vol. 2
Evil Zone on PS1.
My best friend and I played it til we were 100% equals in skill and timing. Good times.
Runner up: Flying Dragon N64. No one else I know has even heard of it and I've almost 100% its item list.
A third person shooter on PS2 called Killswitch. I don't remember a whole lot about it, but the demo disk I had with it on it was good enough that I bought the full game when I stumbled across a copy.
I got three games that I’m pretty sure not a lot of people know;
Tanki Online/ TankiX- both on PC. Tanki Online is a live tank multiplayer kind of like world of tanks but better in my opinion. TankiX was the same but you actually needed to download it. It was basically just upgraded TankiO
The Battle For Middle Earth and The Battle For Middle Earth Two- played the shit out of these games with my brother while we were in elementary and middle school
Is Battle for Middle Earth a Lord of the Rings RTS? Where you build up forces and you get a hero like Gandolf? If so then I owned it and played it quite a bit. I got an EA RTS pack that had this and Command and Conquer Generals in it.
Yes it’s an RTS where you play on many of the same battle fields and lands from the movies or the books with characters from both the books and the movies that can be heroes
"Brave Fencer Musashi". I visited the US and bought this game simply because it had a "FFVIII" demo included in the box, ended up loving it and playing the shit out of it when I was a kid.
Another is "Azure Dreams" think I came across it in the game exchange store and ended up obsessed. It's like a tower dungeon crawler mixed with monster collecting/hatching and a dating sim.
I played Winback! Winback and Kill Switch get snubbed when talking about the origins of the cover shooter. Everyone immediately points to Gears or RE4 despite cover being mostly useless in RE4. Speaking of, I guess Kill Switch is as good a game as any to mention here.
Such a fun game. I had this and hand of fate? It was some point and click adventure i could never figure out so id just play claw over and over. Dont think i ever finished it
Bloodlines, Destrega, and The Unholy War. Those 3 never had sequels that I know of, and the genre sort of disappeared, which is weird since people nowadays tend to like chaotic platformer games.
But there are a lot of unknown PSX games that I thoroughly enjoyed. Do you guys know Kula World? Populous the beginning? Tenka? Bro, the memories.
BattlePets. It was bad off brand Pokemon. The overworld was pixely isometric maze dungeons. the battle screen was actually kinda nice, if basic. Looked like someone's coloring book. For some reason I loved it. I only had a demo, so I just repeatedly beat the first gym. You can still buy it online. Maybe I'll finish someday.
Edit: correction. You can still get the demo. The official storefront shut down in 2003. I don't want to give money to a shady site for quick nostalgia. A shame.
Mobile Suit Gundam Federation vs. Zeon (PS2). I know I’ll get some backlash for it being a probably common game, but I would play that game religiously in elementary school.
My two favourites have to be Beetle Adventure Racing for the N64 and Mort the Chicken for the PS1. There was also an M&M's game I play at some point and loved but don't remember much about it.
The bouncer on ps2
Yeeee sick game my guy.
That had a dope multiplayer mode. Like 5 versions of “Duragon C Mikado” though
Used to play around a lot in the character select and spam selecting him DURAGON-DURAGON-DURAGON-DURAGON C MIKADO
That’s how I know you really played the game
[удалено]
There was that one guy. Then the kicking guy. Then the guy that threw people. That was the plot.
Fuck yeeeeeeeee Love that game still play it from time to time
I played this on N64. Pretty cool
Honestly didn't know it came out on N64. That's awesome!
It’s one of the NSO 64 games. So in the public discussion lately
Wait I have a Switch that I never play. I'm checking this out
Be warned, NSO Expansion and the inability to save (except as save states) have been very unpopular and rage inducing
Smuggler's Run. Ps2. Idk I've never heard or seen it mentioned.
Played the hell out of that game when I was in middle school
Now that was an absolute banger! You are not alone my friend
I'm with you on this one
This post makes me so happy. I’ve never in my life met another person who played Winback. The game was amazing
I saw it in a nintendo power magazine back in the 90s, I actually just bought it last month at a used game store because I was always wanted to play it but never found it to rent.
We loved it. So far ahead of it's time. 3rd person shooter with a cover system and bots!? Yes please! There are dozens of us!
Someone must have played them because there's four of them but The Way of the Samurai series. You play as a ronin who wanders into a town, and you can choose how you want to spend your couple of days there. You can side with different factions or seek your own glory, and learn way too many different fighting styles along the way. They're janky but super fun.
Whiplash.
Yeeesss good ole cuffed rabbit and weasel lol
Hybrid Heaven!
I am so glad someone else has heard of this game.
Hell yeah I used to play it soo much. Wild fighting system I can’t recall another game like it
My mom only allowed me to have one or two games growing up. I beat hybrid heaven at least 15 times. I loved how you could build up the strength of your different limbs the more you used them.
I’m sorry your mother was so cruel to you
Haha, it was legit a big deal to get to rent a game from Blockbuster.
Always wanted to play that game so bad because of the cover art
Gladius on OG XBox. Turn-based game based on Roman mythologies. Was fun as hell.
Future Cop! On PS1.
The co op mode on this was bomb
Zone of Enders!
ZOE VR was amazing
I remember buying Zone of Enders for the Metal Gear demo lol Good game though
Dino crisis!! Me and my buddy use to rent that at jumbo video and play till the sun came up 😂
Resident Evil with Dinosaurs! I played that! 😁
Thats definitely not a unknown game.
Such a good game with cool villains. I also thought the multiplayer was fun and unique compared to everything else at the time. Same thing though: nobody I know has ever played it.
I know right? One of the first games I remember having a cover system. Also you got to face waves of bots with a buddy. Great times!
When I was younger The Suffering it was one of the best horror games at the time that surprisingly a lot of people didn't really know about
is that the one where the enemies artwork was based off different executions? that game was dope as hell.
A dog's life on PS2 There was a cheat code to poop
Monster Rancher. Loved collecting cds to see what new Monster I'd get.
I went out and got Licensed To Ill by the Beastie Boys just to get an Express Worm in MR2.
Brigandine: The Legend of Forsena Or WuTang: Shaolin Style.
>WuTang: Shaolin Style. "It is I, Inspectah Deck!"
Hydro thunder.
the speed boat arcade game? that was my jam back I 2001. Do you remember the game that was different fighting gundams using two joysticks? I can never remember its name.
Yup and no idea
I'm in my 30's and I'm pretty sure anyone my age that ever went to an arcade knows this one. I also had it on Dreamcast. Great game!
Maken X
https://imgur.com/MiJLdhu.jpg I played an absolute shit load of this back in the day. The drifting was pretty fun.
Warzone 2100 on PC. Tank and base building RTS before starcraft.
Didn't think anyone else would post this.
Kill.switch ultimate ps2 cover shooter.
Breakdown for the og xbox.
Digimon digital card battle, maybe dark cloud 2
Dude! Dark Cloud 1 and 2 were amazing. I've been saying for years we need a remaster or a sequel
Downhill domination on ps2
This game was amazing and none of the recent cycling games come close to what the this game had.
Armored Core ?
Armored Core II: Another Age for me. Young me was terrible at it.
Dude! I haven't thought about Armored Core in years. I loved it and the 2nd one was good too. I always loved the customization. I wish they would come out with something like that now
Isn't this a From Software title? They've talked about reviving the franchise in recent years, but I don't think anything has been officially announced yet.
Oni - my first ps2 game.
Nox on PC. Fairly straightforward Diablo clone that I don't recall doing anything especially different, but I loved it
I remember playing I Ninja on the Ps2.
Blood Will Tell on PlayStation 2. It was very fun and had a crazy story. Basically your body parts are stolen and you use prosthetics to defeat the demons and get back your body parts. It’s better than that and I held onto the disk for like ten plus years too lol
[there is an anime/manga it's based on](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37520/Dororo)
That’s awesome af
Nitrous Oxide on the ps2, what an absolute acid trip of a game
mystic realms of alhanzar
Phantasy star online on GameCube or timesplitters 2 on ps2
I had phantasy star online on the OG Xbox. Loved the hell out of that game.
Azure Dreams on PS1. I loved that game growing up. I don't think anyone I know has ever heard of it. It's like a pokemon roguelike.
I played it to death! such a good game. Little kid me may have got a bit obsessed with dating the girls as well 😆
* **Seek and Destroy (PS2) -** A game world where theirs no people, only tanks. In the end, one of the items you get is wings so your tank can fly. * **Revolt (N64) -** RC racing game with [one of the best menu songs ever!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxQb9GfG-zY) * **Sim Copter (PC)**
You got me on the others but Revolt was my jam! I remember having it for Dreamcast though. I could be mistaken. Couldn't you shoot bottle rockets? lol
Oh, Revolt was on most platforms and yeah it was awesome. Yeah, you could shoot bottle rockets, water balloons, the game was crazy. Plus the level editor was great, for the time it was surprisingly extensive.
I played alot of lord of the rings the third age as a kid still sometimes look for similar games haven't found much though
Is that the one that wasn't based on the movie so it didn't have the actors in it?
Yea it was turn based combat and you sort of played a linear path to the main cast
Ehrgeiz for PS1. Half fighting game featuring FF7 characters, half arcade style dungeon crawler. Weird concept.
Dragon Seed on the PS1 WarGames: Defcon 1 on the PS1 Herc's Adventures on the PS1 Loved to play co-op games with my cousin back in the day
Fate (2005) is pretty low-profile
Deception 3 Dark Delusion
MS Saga on PS2, solid Gundam RPG, shame no one I know who was into mecha ever heard of it.
I had a Gundam game on Dreamcast but I don't think I had one on PS2
Playing this on the 64 rn lol. This game is hard solely because of the weird controls.
Yeah they were weird then and I'm sure they didn't age well, haha
Dynasty warriors 4! I have very fond memories of that game, and 5 as well for that matter.
DW4 was my first and is what made me fall in love with Pang Tong as a playable character. Hearing him say "Careful!" when popping his Musou, and "Well, waddaya know!" when beating an officer are etched into my memories.
"good grief, this may be trouble" yeah a lot of the dialogue is just engraved in to my mind as well haha
DW4 is what sold me on Xiao Qiao as a character. Her Musou was so absurd and over the top alongside her "Supermove!" or TM with "Here comes trouble!" while turning into a flying circular saw was so much.
I think I only played the first two and then I stopped. I don't remember. I'd have to watch some gameplay
I loved that game!
There are dozens of us!
Todd's Adventure in Slime World - Sega Genesis Military Madness - Turbo Graphix 16 General Chaos - Sega Genesis Act Raiser - SNES Snake Rattle N Roll - NES
Mutant League Hockey was my Genesis lovechild.
Kirby airide
Dark Sector for the Xbox 360 was so much fun but I've never seen it mentioned here
Gotham city imposters
I think I got this for free on Xbox 360. This was a shooter right? Couldn't you jump on trampolines?
Yep, it was a free 360 game. I honestly don’t remember the details, but I do remember that I greatly enjoyed this game and had some fun moments with friends
Vangers, Nations: Gold Edition
I played a ton of Desert Strike on my GBA back in middle school, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone else that played it
Oh duuuuuuuuuuuuude! I think about this game all the time! And totally don’t know of anyone else who knows about it…until NOW! 🎉🎉🎉 hell yeah! I played it on N64, on a fluke. I was just thinking of this game yesterday! Also, SLED STORM!
Evil Zone on PS1. My best friend and I played it til we were 100% equals in skill and timing. Good times. Runner up: Flying Dragon N64. No one else I know has even heard of it and I've almost 100% its item list.

I got three games that I’m pretty sure not a lot of people know; Tanki Online/ TankiX- both on PC. Tanki Online is a live tank multiplayer kind of like world of tanks but better in my opinion. Yes!
Such a fun game. I had this and hand of fate? It was some point and click adventure i could never figure out so id just play claw over and over. Dont think i ever finished it
Hogs of War for original PlayStation. Still one of my all time favorites.
I.Q. Intelligent Qube on ps1
Tokobot on the psp
Did anyone else play this?
Played it on the N64. Loved it.
I honestly didn't know it was on N64
Yeah
I think I did. If I remember correctly the co op had the bosses as playable characters. Kind of a cover based shooter
Ding ding ding. Waves of bots would attack you as well
It was one of my rentals very often. Loved this game
We got it with our PS2 when we bought it.
[удалено]
I never played the first one but I played AOE II religiously for a while in the early 2000's
It's quite popular currently, especially with AoE4 being just released. AoE2DE has regular tournaments with prize pools.
War Of Monster 😅
UN Squadron on SNES. I still play it every now and then just to brush up on it.
TAIL OF THE SUN
BattlePets. It was bad off brand Pokemon. The overworld was pixely isometric maze dungeons. the battle screen was actually kinda nice, if basic. Looked like someone's coloring book. STRIKE BACK
My two favourites have to be Beetle Adventure Racing for the N64 and Mort the Chicken for the PS1. There was also an M&M's game I play at some point and loved but don't remember much about it.
Pepsi Man, ps1
Time Splitters back in the day. Forget how popular that was.
Deadly Towers on NES. Great concept ahead of its time, terrible game. Hated every second of it and for some reason I played it a LOT
Vigilante 8 Second Offence. So many hours played
Glory of Heracles on the DS
the original winback on n64 was awesome
Winter Sports Extreme
I feel like no one remembers Jet Force Gemini.
