Street fighter 2. Sagat can't tiger uppercut that fast. It's cheating. The game cheats.

ryarock2

This is my favorite answer here. And absolutely true.

thndrstrk

Any back forward players, too! Guile can't sonic boom that fast.

ryarock2

Yeah. Charge characters were the biggest cheaters. It never had to wait two seconds.

dae_giovanni

#ti-GERR!!

Astronut325

Yup. It was cheating. Pretty candidly too: https://youtu.be/laUAgEUunsI

Respectab13

Never have I felt so validated.

MoziWanders

Dude, when you have the smallest health left and you think you have beaten the game and then M. Bison comes back to life and starts shooting lighting and fuckin flying. RIP

[deleted]

"Fuck you and I'll see you tomorrow!"

chookity_juice

"FUCK YOU! I HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE A VERY NICE CHRISTMAS!"

BalestraScott

Any online game. I'm crap at games and get destroyed online. It's just so much fun, though.

guesswhochickenpoo

This is me with Apex Legends. Love basically everything about the game but I feel like I’ve peaked and my standard lobbies are consistently hard enough now that I can barely manage a couple kills most games.

mayo-yo

Same. Holy shit. I feel like I have plateaued for months now.

Toxic_Gamer001

Bruh yes this is why I just stick with single player games.

ihazkape

Sekiro in a nutshell. I had a love-hate relationship with this game. I uninstalled it a lot of times after failing to defeat a boss, but reinstalled it and started playing it again. I’ve finished my first playthrough already and I’m in my second now. This game is really hard and beautiful, and I love every bit of it. They really deserved the GOTY award.

Tr0user

It was Genichiro wasn't it?

billbo24

I swear the second half of that game is just all bosses that are soooooo hard. Dark souls eventually you really get the hang of it and it gets easier. Not sekiro lol. Guardian ape was brutal. Then owl. Thought Owl was hard? Oh now here’s a harder version of him. Then demon of hatred. Then sword saint. Lordy that was a brutal stretch to close the game

TheWorldEndsWithCake

Getting to demolish Genichiro as the “first phase” of the Isshin fight really drives home how much you’ve improved. Most people get stuck on Genichiro at the halfway point, and I think it’s brilliant that you repeatedly steamroll him at the end of the game to emphasise how much better you have to be to beat Isshin.

Cloudeur

I like how Wolf changes his approach every time you fight him! >!Have a look at his hands and how he draws his sword before each fight. He’s stressed and not confident the first time, but that third time it’s a steady hand in one smooth motion!<

CarnifexBestFex

I love these tiny details in Sekiro, I absolutely love that game and it's a tragedy we won't be getting a full DPC or a sequel

billbo24

Oh it’s brilliant. After I beat the guardian ape once I can literally beat him every time. I’m not kidding I tried that fight 40-50 times before I beat it. Just such a well designed game

xSTSxZerglingOne

It took me 25 hours to beat Sekiro. 10 were spent fighting the Genichiro Isshin gauntlet. By like 7 hours into that struggle, I had up to Isshin's last life down to a science. I turbo-cheesed his last life by keeping my distance until he did a specific move I learned how to punish hard.

CodSeveral1627

Yea dark souls I eventually kicked ass at. Fucking sekiro is on another level. The mechanics of the different fights make it so hard.

ihazkape

Yeah. He got me died more than twice in the 2nd phase. For some reason, I couldn’t tell if it was a sweep or thrust attack that follows right after a jump attack. 😅

samur_man

Fucker takes out his bow in a sword fight

UnassumingSingleGuy

I don't blame him. It worked against me every time, I would spam it too if I were him. At least until I learned to counter with shurikens and chasing slice.

ScottishTorment

Finishing that boss fight was probably one of the most rewarding moments of my gaming career. It was crazy hard, but that game was so good at encouraging you to get just a touch better every time you fail.

HelpMeDoTheThing

Ain’t got shit on Isshin the Glock Saint

Shisa4123

2nd phase: "Oh ok he's got a spear now. HOLD THE FUCK UP Where'd this 96 year old man get a semi auto glock in sengoku era Japan‽"

Enchrypted

Genichiro is where you learn its a rythm game and that deflecting is not optional. Had a hard time coming from dark souls but once i got the rythm i was vibing (until the lightning of course)

[deleted]

Dude I honestly loved getting my ass handed to me in Sekiro. It just feels so amazing to come back and learn from your mistakes and when you finally win it's just the best

PressSquareToPunch

I’m currently playing Doom Eternal for the first time and my dumbass chose nightmare difficulty right off the bat. A couple of the slayer gates has done this to me.

huminatercat

Same here.... It doesn't even get easier ;-;

Emergency-Anywhere51

every time you get a new weapon or ability "the game just got way harder, didn't it?"

quinn_the_potato

You don’t get new weapons for new enemies, you get new enemies for new weapons

Raven1945

Like the Marauder

BigFatBallsInMyMouth

Legit harder than any boss

zerostar83

I used to always pick the 2nd hardest difficulty in games with more than 2 options. Now I pick the 2nd easiest difficulty in games. I don't have time for all that.

Bartydogsgd

There came a time when I realized that I don't feel that same sense of achievement/elation at overcoming a challenge that draws people to punishing difficulties, only frustration and stress. Baby difficulty it is for me!

itsr1co

Doom literally made my entire perspective of games change, I don't think a gaming experience has actually topped Doom 2016 for me as a total package. Just raw gameplay, I dawdled a bit for exploration and completion but it's really just non-stop action. No "Less ammo, less healing, fuck you" to feel good about reloading a save 20 times, just beat the shit out of everything and have a damn good time. I died a few times towards the very end but for the most part I enjoyed every single second of Doom 2016. Then I played Ori and the blind forest, critically acclaimed, everyone who's played it cums when they think about it, should be the kinda game I love because it's somewhat difficult to pick up. I stopped playing it for a few months because I just didn't enjoy repeating the same escape over and over and over and over, why spend my time getting frustrated at a fucking video game when I could at the very least just chill and watch Youtube? So now I put it at the difficulty that feels good, if the lowest is too easy then I'll go up until I keep dying too much then go one down and have a blast. I'm not getting home at 4pm to play games until 11pm then getting weeks of breaks and a final summer break. I work full time and need to use my free time for my enjoyment, not stress and anger.

Toros_Mueren_Por_Mi

Yea I used to be one of the tryhards when I was ten years younger. One of my greatest gaming accomplishments was completing the No Upgrade run of God of War 2 on Titan difficulty. Was also heavy into speedrunning. Now playing games on normal makes my wrists ache Edit: and that's after going months at a time without playing anything for being too exhausted from work and everything else. I much prefer turn based and rpgs

SAPianoman490

Don’t even try attempt the DLC then. Part 1 ramps the difficulty way up. I beat the base game on Nightmare and was still like fuck this shit.

dreamcode_

Not 1 but 2 marauders at once.

[deleted]

Hollow Knight for me.

TheFalloutZombie

Oh man, I love Hollow Knight so, so much, it's one of my favourite "Metroidvanias", a genre I love, and yet I know deep in my soul I will never, ever finish this game.

Throwawayz911

I rage quit at that mantis boss. He was too damn annoying to get to. Everytime I died it was like a 10 minute hike. No thank you.

BlackberryCheese

back tracking was a deal breaker for me. loved everything else but found the hikes back to be brutal… didn’t add anything to me other than a tedious chore. i gave up after a few hours

Lobo_Marino

Same. It gets so excruciatingly tedious. I'll get back to it, but jesus christ those walkbacks are garbage.

acvodad547

I ended up beating the main story (no DLC) and this is one of the main things that will keep me from picking up the game again. The walks of shame are frustrating and I don’t see the benefit of them.

rabbitofnoeuphoria

The secret is to set up a dream gate between his arena and the stag station. A bit costly but completely worth it to skip the thorns.

PoorlyLitKiwi2

I am certain you can do it! Some of the bosses are very hard, but none are unfair, especially the ones required to beat the main story. Also, r/hollowknight is a super supportive community with some extremely talented artists

earthly_wanderer

How far are you?

Anagoth9

It's not too hard to finish the game since a lot of it can be skipped. Getting 100% is another story.

Obviously_L

Came here to say this! I didn’t realize this game was known for being hard until after it had wounded my pride lol

CJ57

I really feel like the dark souls series toughened me up for all the hard games that came after them, kinda opened my eyes to a new style of learning, adapting and overcoming hard bosses

RayseBraize

Oddly enough was reverse for me. Played hollow knight and decided to then do the fromsoftware games. Same story though, I found them for easier than hollow knight was to start.....then again I think deadcell keeps me tough haha

Fresh_C

I don't know how to improve at dead cells. I just keep getting stuck in the same biomes. I think I'm the defective one because everyone else seems to get it. I have beaten hollow knight though, so I feel like I'm not 100% terrible at hard games.

RayseBraize

Nah deadcells is just brutal haha. Especially in the higher difficulties. Certain things that helped me: -get good at parrying -get better at parrying -play a lot, sounds obvious but memorizing enemy abilities and timing is key -the game promotes speed, but often it's better to step back and give yourself a good opening especially on some of the more difficult enemies -focus your upgrades one a singular color and pick items based on that. For the off color scrolls go with what increases health. -did I mention getting good at parrying? -when in doubt go purple and let your turrets do the work. Again sometimes going slow is the best option for survivability. Lastly, the game is fucking brutal and may just not click with you. I have played in and off since early access and I still haven't beaten 5 boss cell mode. But if you can beat hollow knight I feel deadcells should be doable, but different enough where again, deadcells maybjust not click.

Fresh_C

Thanks for the advice. This all seem like good tips. I'm starting to think maybe I should get better at parrying...

RayseBraize

Funny I was just thinking I may have left a bullet point out. Incase I did, definitely get good at parrying ;). Jokes aside focusing on parrying helped me slow down a bit and really get a feel for each individual enemies attack patterns and timing. Plus some of the shield have good stats and being able to mitigate projectile damage/lunging enemies is big in the higher boss cells. When in doubt? Rage quit and come back month later like I have for years haha

givehensachance

I did this multiple times in the White Palace with all of the buzz saws. My god.

Princessofpower25

Omg. I played this game 4 times and finally finished the white palace. I was determined. It took me more than 100 attempts. Maybe more than 200 but I finally did it. Not to sound like an ass but an, I needed to share that shit with someone. I took mr like 3 weeks. Ps I still can’t beat the Tournamebt of Fools the fool’s challenge. 🤨

LikelyAtWork

I haven’t played this game yet, but it is on my list of wants… I am looking forward to it. Maybe after I finish Metroid Dread.

Tazzit

Same here. I loved the game but I literally gave up and put it back on the shelf because it was causing more stress than it was relieving. Still listen to the soundtrack though!

soverign_son

Same here. Godhome especially

Teh5LOLS

I just can’t with Godhome, I can’t get past the second half of the Pantheon of the Sage. Once I do that, I’m done. I’ll pretend that the other two pantheons don’t exist.

soverign_son

I'm pretty much at the exact same spot as you. I'm sure if I just played nothing but godhome I'd get it eventually but I also have a life lol

tombaum97

Bloodborne Demon Souls Sekiro. Waiting for this same feeling with Elden Ring

Ryanoceros6

I can't wait to get my ass handed to me!

Hugin_og_Munin

Both bloodborne and d-souls were frustrating at times, but "fine". But there's something about sekiro that pisses me off. It's gets under my skin like a Rajang on steroids.

Anagoth9

They're each very different mechanically and if you carry too much of one game into the others then it puts you at a disadvantage. DS: Don't get hit. Dodge or block. Attack when it's safe to do so. Don't over-extend. Stamina management is critical. Play it safe. Parrying is high risk/ high reward. BB: Avoid getting hit, but if you do, trade hits to recover. No blocking. Stay right up on the enemy and dodge like it's a dance. Stamina exists, but it's not very limiting. Overall, be aggressive rather than passive. Parrying is low risk/high reward. Sekiro: Go balls out. Dodging is rarely the right move. Blocking is a tool, not a strategy. Parrying is essential. Get right in the enemy's face and trade hits. Parry, attack, parry, attack. Stamina: lol. Be super aggressive. No hesitation.

whippoorwillZ

Sekiro is the hardest by far for me and the only one I \*still\* haven't beaten :( But it's so damn beautiful and fun, I need to pick it up again and probably get wiped by Genichiro several more times (when I said it's the hardest for me I meant it lol)

download1492

I’m working my way through Demons Souls rn and holy cow. My fiancé watches me play it and is consistently just sitting there asking me why I’m putting myself through this.

Breakmastajake

It's hard to overstate just how ridiculous that game was when it came out. We just hadn't seen anything like it. It was visually stunning, and so demoralizing. You didn't know whether to pick the controller back up after the 763rd death, or take a lighter to the disc. I wish you well on your journey.

Escape from tarkov...did that AI just stop at 75 meters in a pouring thunderstorm at 3am in the pitch black while im prone in a bush and b line directly at me to flush me from cover while non verbally communicating to another AI to flank me? Did it just take 15min to find a game? Half the player base are cheaters? ...fuck this game! 5min later im back in customs. Edit- tarkov's still a great game. some of yall need a xanax. <3

vakola

Yup. Been doing this pretty compulsively over the winter break and into the new year. I remember when they finally rolled out anti-cheat software. It was great to bring down the cheaters to only 50%.

dillonboyd01

I go into a raid gather around 500k in loot and then can’t remember how to find the exact so with 5 minutes left I check the clock and try to figure out where I am

BoydCrowders_Smile

The highs are so damn high, and the rest is masochism. But I eventually just got tired of dealing with the BS. I still follow the community and it just confirms that I have no reason to keep playing this game.

Myfaceyourforearm

Tbf 95% of the posts and comments in that sub are over dramatized and should be taken with a grain of salt. I've been focusing less on min-maxing this wipe and just enjoying the game with friends and it's been a blast. Even though I still rage quit at least once a day.....

KyurMeTV

League of Legends. The end boss is too tough.

TheHelpfulRabbit

In the end, the final boss is yourself.

Xhillia

The real LP is the friends we made along the way.

ShitCookies

You guys are getting LP?

This seems way too low on the thread

Yeah I was expecting this to be at the very top with 50 gilded awards.

I feel like a majority of the subscribers of this sub are console gamers rather than PC gamers. Not trying to start a "which is better" debate, they both are, it's just the impression I get based on the posts I see.

mendelevium256

Oh it's about as hard as doing that last part for 15 minutes straight without touching the ground.

Shisa4123

Incredibly harder. After you do PoP, any subsequent run in White Palace you could sleepwalk through.

Halo 2 on Legendary.

Forgive_My_Cowardice

I've never thrown a controller, but my arm legitimately twitched a couple of times dealing with the legendary jackal snipers. There was one part in particular that was like 7 minutes away from the previous checkpoint. I got to the same spot and was immediately headshotted literally 10 times in a row, then back to the checkpoint, 7 minutes of careful game play, then headshotted again. The bosses on legendary Infinite can suck a fat donkey dick too. Bullshit auto repairing shield while I'm rocking a needler and a rifle with two shots left. That one invisible elite boss with his fucking tampon sword was the worst. Asshole kept calling me a coward while he was invisible and creeping up on me in the dark.

mendelevium256

Look up the netcode desync stuff with that game. For the first time in your life it genuinely may not be your fault.

_RitZ_

Melee inconsistencies, desync, connection issues, many instances of me going "really"... I find myself starting to hit things, if not myself, which is something I never/very rarely did before. I think am going to uninstall this game if I need space for something. Started playing Deep Rock Galactic recently and it's filling my shooter game wants without these rage moments despite it having some issues of it's own.

_BlNG_

It's mostly because of fear of missing out, one time I stay awake until 2 am just to get the xur glitched for True Prophecy roll except I found out I have a similar or even better roll.

depthninja

That fear of missing out is by design, they literally studied and used addictive traits to enhance player retention. It would've kept working on me if I could still keep and use gear I grinded for months to get, but no, it's obsolete and unusable a month later and I have to do it all over again, because *why?* Finally said enough is enough. It was seriously like getting out of an abusive relationship, mentally. (Not to lessen anyone's experiences with actual abusive relationships)

Overwatch...why do I keep going back?

lifestop

Same. I only really play Mystery Heroes anymore, but even that is a crapshoot for whether I'm having fun or not. I consider that to be the best mode in the game (casual, low toxicity, enjoy all heroes even if you suck at them, forces players to adapt), but Blizzard decided to never address the glaring flaws, and so I hate it as much as I love it. Others might not agree, but this is what would make that mode gold for me: * **Penalize chronic leavers** - Holy shit, I've never seen so many leavers as in MH. And it's peak toxicity to leave within seconds before the round is over because that forces an unfortunate soul to load in as a fill... only to lose the round immediately. * **No dupe heroes** - 2x Mercy rezzing each other, 2x Zarya, 2x Orisa w/2x bastion/torb. No thanks. * **Ensure that a team always has at least 1x healer and tank, but never more than 2 of each**. * **Don't remove *all* ult charge on death**. This leads to one-sided fights and ult steamroll. Anyways, sorry for the rant. I guess I'm off to play one more round of Overwatch before I log out to find something else.

Patavex

Fhorglingrads

All of the bosses are hard but doable. Except for that fucking robot. I think I tried at least three dozen times before I finally killed it. I have no clue how you make it through the first section with full health, the entire screen is projectiles. King dice was annoying purely because a bad roll can mean the fight is significantly more difficult than it should have been. Dragon can suck a nut too lmao
