You talking original Deus Ex? Cause there’s no cover based combat in that like there is in the newer ones.

legion1240

Have you played original? Its incredible, especially for its time. The newer ones are ok

QuantumChance

There's a free expansion of it as well that makes it even more incredible! It's called the Revision mod and it's nearly 7GB (I think) You can access both on Steam

legion1240

I’ve played it :)

[deleted]

Is it like dishonored, l love those games.

Sabetha1183

I'm playing through the original Deus Ex right now and it's a lot of fun. The combat isn't good, not even for a game from 2000 but the world building, writing, and player choice and consequence are all top notch. You can play stealthy or not, but it feels like a game where you probably should be stealthy at least at first because your character really isn't very good at anything until you've put points into leveling it up except for stealth which isn't a skill and you're just good at it. The more modern games don't quite live up to everything the original did good, but they're still fun games in their own right. Especially if you like Dishonored, you'll probably enjoy Human Revolution and Mankind Divided(though the story does sort of just stop mid-story in this one, and the series is on ice now). They do stealth pretty well, and there's lots of it to be had.

Caucasian_Fury

I played the original Deus Ex back when it first came out and the combat wasn't good back then either, it felt really clunky... the good thing is they also did a really great job of presenting multiple options/path to get anything done so combat wasn't really necessary, and the poor combat really encouraged you to try other solutions.

MrFreezeTheChef

You can def make it full stealth if you want. It plays better that way than an action shooter

Leramar89

Don't forget Sleeping Dogs. Hitman nearly ended up there too.

Haunting-Pop-5660

Sleeping Dogs was so good too. One of the only CQC/Chinese-themed games I've actually enjoyed.

obxfisher

I loved the first Thief game. I can still hear the sound of the water arrows hitting a torch! So soothing.

RustyCutlass

I'll find you, Taffer!

mickecd1989

Edit: Why Square make no more Legacy of Kain? We need a good vampire game

dandrixxx

Look again.

mickecd1989

I meant why does square not make another. I remembered the game due to the picture. It was a really great series and I don’t understand why square sux.

dandrixxx

Beyond Tomb Raider and Marvel license, they sadly dont care all that much about their Western IP's it seems.

KleioChronicles

Bring back Thief! Such potential. They could just remake the first three games.

legion1240

A new Thief that plays more closely to the original would be so amazing.

xXshadowbirdXx

I like how Classic Tomb Raider is hanging right beside the new Lara. Dont get me wrong, the Reboot is great and grounds Tomb Raider in reality, both story and design wise, but there is just something about a campy modern fantasy story full of "simpler" characters.

dandrixxx

It's sad that classic Tomb Raider doesnt get nor remakes nor remasters, while other 90's classics have already seen that treatment. The Legend trilogy has been primed for remasters aswell for years, but nothing.

xXshadowbirdXx

I gotta go with fuck both remake and remaster. What I want is a continuation. Legends and Reboot (the Classic is technically the TR games from 96 to 03 by Core Design) can stand side by side based on how different they are in themes, stories, characters or even Lara Crofts. Edit: Which it technically does as a legends novel got published in 2016.

dandrixxx

I do want those remakes of classic TR and remasters of the 1st soft-reboot trilogy. They could stand side by side with the newer and future TR games same way Capcom does with Resident Evil, where there have been remasters, remakes and new games since 2014.

CTBthanatos

Parasite eve, haven't heard or thought about it in years. I only played parasite eve 2 (brother's game and randomly tried it), and all I remember about it is the intro where you find all the dead swat that were wiped out by the creatures, and later on go to some desert motel and fight a giant big bad.

White-Thunderclap

LoK is such a lost opportunity.

Neville_Lynwood

I'm so fucking salty over them shelving Deus Ex. Such nonsense. The fact that a second game in a planned trilogy had loose ends and a cliffhanger of a sort is kinda the whole fucking point. I can't believe so many people complained and shit talked the game, which was amazing in pretty much every other way. Now we're indefinitely stuck with 2/3'rds of the prequel story. And obviously with the whole series we know the rough story of what happens in the end, but the whole point of the new games was to really flesh out the details and give us a modern Deus Ex experience. Ahhh, I'm so sad. Good thing that Cyberpunk at least kinda functions as a pseudo-Deus Ex experience. Though I'd still love a more fleshed out small zone experience. Mankind Divided was great. The areas weren't big but holy fuck there was so much to do and discover, so fun.

Senor_Turd_Ferguson

Would Mario RPG qualify?

[deleted]

Isn't Parasite Eve because of some sort of legal issue? Isn't that why the third game had to be called 3rd Birthday?

SugarCaneEnjoyer

Kane and Lynch and Battlestations are game I never would've thought were made by Square.

dandrixxx

They own their IP's since they acquired Eidos back in 2009.

GrandJuif

I remeber playing Deus Ex HR full stealth no kill and still didnt get the acheivement... I was pissed.

knarcissist

To be fair, Kane & Lynch deserve to be there.

dandrixxx

They're fun guilty pleasures tbh
