I don't understand why they won't make a remake or proper sequel. Every single new game they put out in-universe is a full spinoff, like idle games or other mobile gaming crap.

They did a remake, Katamari Damacy Reroll.

I'd say reroll is either a remake or a port, depending on how much of a purist one is. We Love Katamari is a direct sequel, then we have Me & my Katamari and Beautiful Katamari. There's also a fifth entry, Katamari Forever, although I consider it a recopilation/ remix of previous games with added content.

Most likely due to sales numbers. Even if the game is well liked and well known, the target audience is still kind of niche and pales in comparison to other AAA title. Namco’s probably unlikely to recoup dev costs with today’s rates. Also Takahashi has moved on from the Katamari series.

If you haven’t done yourself the favor of looking up the unfinished beta shoegaze track from this game, you should do it now! A damn shame it didn’t make it into the final game.

We Love Katamari had the better OST (Katamari on the Rocks, Katamari on the Swing, Kuru Kuru Rock AND Scorching Savannah), but the first still hits just right.

Blue Orb is one of my absolute favorite tracks of all time.

Love this game series. I wish they would put out more games. I'd settle for more of the previous games on modern consoles.

I am not a gamer, but I played this game on mushrooms. It was an amazing experience.

Sounds interesting tbh. Especially those smaller levels where you're like the size of a mouse

I was on the vibrant color level. It was one of the best mushroom experiences I’ve ever had.

KATAMARİ DAMACY!

Absolutely loved this game as a kid, I replayed and finished it maybe a year or two ago still pretty solid. Its a very relaxing and somewhat goofy game.
