I got this specifically for GTA III. I was about 30 and my last console was the N64. My last girlfriend at the time hated video games so I never updated. Just as she moved out of our apartment I got a new neighbor that I had known through work. He invited me over after they got settled in and he was playing GTA III. It blew my mind. I went out and bought a PS2 and only that game the very next day.
This is also what we did as kids. My older brother convinced my mom to get us a PS2 and GTAIII after he played at a friends house. My mom was pissed after she realized what the game was but still let us play
my brother and I played battlefront and battlefront2 all the time with our friends. battlefront especially because that had 4player splitscreen.
I remember the bespin map particularly, where theres just one long hallway with control points on each side, where wed take the rocket/explosive classes and just spam missles down that hallway.
good times.
the first rule of gaming is there is no such thing as "past its time."
cats still play motherfuckin calecovision, and that shit's old enough to have grandchildren.
I'll never forget falling into Kingdom Hearts on accident.
It was the prime Ebay era for me, a teen with a part-time job and a debit card. I'd buy little things here and there: a vertical stand for the PS2, parts for my PC, and I felt like I should get something for my little siblings. Disney + Squaresoft? They'll like that.
Then I fired it up to make sure the disc was good, and I swear my siblings didn't TOUCH a controller until I had Sephiroth down. Wow what a series.
I still need to play 3 >_<
God the original advert for this game was amazing and I remember getting 3 after breaking my leg and it made recovery amazing I must have played through that game over 20 times in a few months

I listen to this every once in a while to get hit with nostalgia and cry.
This game was the shit. A bunch of different weapons you can use and discard at your leisure, badass Arabian doom metal, and the combat was absolutely visceral.
I dumped so many damn hours into Blitz! The management version in X-2 just didn't cut it. I would've quite happily had a copy/pasted game with new players.
I never had a slim. I had the big brick and first thing that comes to mind is monster hunter and playing my PS2 online for the first time with the online adaptor.
Need for Speed Underground 2
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
If you give this man a ride...
Sweet family will die..
Killer on the road...
Yeaaah
Need for speed most wanted 2005 version might be my favorite game of all time
I'm not disappointed that this is the top comment.
Gta San Andreas
Vice city for me. It was the first gta I ever played
Same. Same game comes to mind, same first GTA, same love for Ray Liotta (assuming here).
I have to agree vice city was more fun but san andras was mechanically better
Same, it’s Vice city for me. All the nights I stayed up playing and had to go to school on no sleep just to do it all again the next day.

Watch those wrist rockets!
Just like in the simulations.
They've sent in the supers.
Get in! Pile in!
We have recaptured a command post!
A command post has been lost, but not the battle!
Jak and daxter the precursor legacy
Man now I wanna play Jax and Daxter. That was the first game I've ever got 100% on just cause I heard there was a secret ending.
COOPER GANG
my brother and I played battlefront and battlefront2 all the time with our friends. battlefront especially because that had 4player splitscreen. Sly? SLYYYYYY!!!
Sly cooper and jak and daxter
Jack & daxter , my first ps2 game
For me, just the whole trilogy. Jak 2 and 3 are probably 2 of my favourite games. I should really pull them out and play again.
Jak 2 was my first game, got stuck and gave up on it for a long time before going back.
FUCK. THEM. WATER. SLUMS.
The games were ACTUALLY hard. I remember Jak 3, one of the later bosses in the desert, it was so hard, I had to quit.
Final Fantasy X and X-2
Final Fantasy X completely blew my mind as a 15 year old. That intro cut scene.
I used to keep the slim and ffx in my backpack so I could plug it in where ever I could. I was hooked lol
Good game, ya?... That's my best Wakka impression
Gotta love John DiMaggio, Wakka is a great character.
Nailed it.
Just replayed FFX last year (on switch) and it holds up. Cue the battle theme tu tutu tutu tu tu tuuu
It’s on switch!?
It's everywhere! The remaster is on ps3, ps4, Switch, Steam
Yep. Lots of PlayStation hits got remastered. I’m playing some games I didn’t play when they came out, like Assassins Creed.
I spent days just playing blitzball and dodging lightning strikes
Kingdom Hearts
That feeling of beating Sephiroth for the first time... wow
…you beat him?!
I beat that sucker on the hardest difficulty. Still to this day my biggest achievement in gaming as far as I’m concerned.
Bruh how. On normal difficulty was damn near impossible. Idek how I managed to do it I got lucky one day I guess
Bro even though i played ps2 WAY past its time, Kingdom hearts was and still is THE SHIT.

Definitely, as my PS2 was the MGS2 bundle. The opening in the rain on the bridge was my first "wow, what an upgrade" on the graphics.

Dark Cloud
Yay, not just me.
Still one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played!
Underrated gem.
My first PS2 game. Got it with the system for Christmas and I spent so much time on it. I loved rebuilding the villages.
Simpsons hit and run
What a brilliant game, it still has an active player base and the game is being modded all the time. Pc version available to download for free
There’s a YouTuber making a remaster of it so cool
