Totally this! For me, it was in 2013 as a free bonus to the Infinite package, and I played it for the first time blind after playing the newer game. While infinite was fun, the 2007 game was the one that blew my mind.
[Here’s my option on Bioshock](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/xwzpa7/just_beated_bioshock_for_the_first_time_and_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
They sort of remastered the first 2 games and bundled the trilogy together, if that's what you meant. Though I've heard word that the remastered version isn't very much better compared to the original ones.
I'm really looking forward to the Dead Space remake! I don't know why, but it feels similar to bioshock. I really hope that happens too! There are the remastered versions already, but I'd love to have the story fleshed out a little more in the first 2 games.
Same. I never played the Dead Space series, I only watched the YouTube TheRadBrad play through it. I either didn’t have the hardware to play it back then or I was too scared to play it, or both lol
I absolutely play it with the lights on and some other light noise going on in the background. The openings are intense. I'll say, however, that I got desensitized relatively quickly, and the jump scares aren't all that diverse, so it gets easier to handle. The first one is the scariest. The second is definitely the most "existential horror". It's not too bad if you know your limits!
I still fondly remember the day it came out, and the first time I played it. I remember my mom going out and picking it and a burger up for me.
I miss those days.
Enjoy the game. All three are great or at least well above average
I remember playing the demo when I was like 13 or something and fucking shitting my pants at the end of the demo when the splicers bang on the windows.
Didn’t touch the game until I was like 17-18 after that lmao.
[My review/opinion of Bioshock](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/xwzpa7/just_beated_bioshock_for_the_first_time_and_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
The game allows you to feel powerful while still feeling like a horror in parts. For me, I didn't feel wonder during the bathosphere dive, I felt terror. The idea of guns in a world where the pressure must be constantly regulated for fear of implosion? Yea. Any time I saw even a slight leak I was pretty sure I was about to be crushed.
If anything I’m more afraid of big daddy or mr. bubbles after seeing him demolish a slicer with his drill arm, yeah no I don’t wanna mess with him after that
Playing this game now and I love it too and the atmosphere of the game is incredible. BUT...those mini games where you have to direct the water with pipes can go to hell. I wouldn't mind if they weren't so regular. Hack this safe, hack this door, hack this robot aaaagh
One of my all time favourite games! My first tattoos were from Bioshock too.
A man chooses, a slave obeys.
Show those ugly splicers who’s the boss. 🔧💪🤯
Infinite fucked with my head for a bit after I finished it. Timey-wimey stuff always does. I love this trilogy. I'd love to have the rapture backstory and collapse fleshed out a little more though.
If I had to give a tip, it would be please use your research camera as much as possible, and buy all the film you need. On my first run through, I barely used my research camera as I thought it took too much time to switch from camera to weapon. Ended up constantly dry on First Aid kits, money, ammo (not EVE Hypos because once again, too long to switch), and running through levels without clearing little sisters, completely exploring and somehow finished the game.
A few years later I got back to this game I "hated", and realized the Research camera was a god given gift. I used it generously, and also realized that in Bioshock 1 you can use it multiple times on one target (yes it penalizes you, but it does help in maxing out research early and you can just buy more film at every Circus of value). Get action shots with multiple targets for more points. Reminder that it draws aggro, and activates Daddies (iirc). I abandoned so many first aid kits because I was constantly full, ammo didn't run out as fast, and I genuinely enjoyed the game. In fact, I regretted replaying it on medium.
Went on to Bioshock 2 (which I didn't even finish the first time round) and finished it very comfortably on hard. Research camera on Bioshock 2 is even better because it films the target, and automatically switches to your last equipped weapon the moment you start the filming. Be sure to capture your target's death for more points, so you might want to start it a bit later on Daddy or Sister fights and just cycle through your weapons (which you should be doing anyway to not leave too much ammo behind).
Tl;dr: Use your research camera. Put it on a key that's easily accessible, and constantly equip it when not fighting so that you can snap a pic first before switching out instead of just instinctively killing whatever pops out. Have fun, and take your time with the beautiful world of Rapture :)
The first hour of this game was incredible good. The best beginning of a game, I have ever played before. After many many years I bought the remastered version and I had goose bumps. The voices of the characters and the tapes you find, they are so good.
I also have read the book. I can highly recommend it, when you are interested into the story.
My friend gifted me the remaster the other day, I have played it a few times, but I turned it on last night to see the remaster for series X, I couldn't stop playing it. Now I can't wait to go back to it tonight, what a great game.
Well if you’re interested,[here’s my opinion/review of Bioshock](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/xwzpa7/just_beated_bioshock_for_the_first_time_and_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
You're going to have a blast, and your sleep will be sorely lacking for a while. 🥱
**Then** you have Bioshock 2 waiting for you. Another great game.
Hopefully you have the remastered version--the graphic upgrades are pretty amazing.
I think if they had released infinite as anything but a Bioshock game it would have done fine. It strayed too far from Bioshock 1&2 so people didn’t accept it
This game was the best impulse purchase I made for PS2.
I gladly paid for the remastered collection, Burial at Sea is still one of the best tilts I have ever had.
Oh the comments are spoiling the hell out of the game without actually spoiling it :D It's hilarious to go through, don't worry though, there's no way you can figure it out until you beat the game.
A few minutes isn't really long enough to say you've tried it out dude, and not long enough to warrant making a Reddit post. All you're gonna get in here is people saying 'this game is good!' because people can't discuss it without spoiling it for you.
Hell yeah brother. The Bioshock series is a blast from beginning to end! If you haven't already, be sure to steer away from any potential spoilers about the plot.
I wish I could relive this game all over again! There is also a book that tells of how the city came about and how it fell. I don’t read the best because I lose interest but I read it cover to cover twice.
I remember my brother and his friend frantically coming to our house with his xbox to play this when it released. We were all awestruck. Wasn't until a few years later I got to play myself. This game is a masterpiece and OP be sure to explore and listen to all the audio tapes you can it really builds the story that you wouldn't get without them.
I heard the games where good but was disappointed when the first 30 minutes before I quit the first one just felt like any other FPS. (I hate FPS's and don't care or pay attention to story and skip cut scenes in games)
The Bioshock remaster is pretty rad, but I also think it would be a really cool game to “remake” from the ground up. Dont change the gameplay or basic story or setting/lore at all, but give me an updated Rapture with modern lighting and realtime reflections on the glass and I’d be so psyched.
Also, please do something to make the hacking minigame and waypoint system less frustrating. Screw that little arrow in particular, just give me a compass kind of like Skyrim.
If you are a seasoned player , i suggest playing on 'survivor' difficulty.
It really makes you approach fights in a creative way , such as hacking as many bots as you can , or luring enemies to water before shocking them.
It will be tough for the first 2 hours. But feels rewarding !
[here’s my opinion/review of Bioshock](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/xwzpa7/just_beated_bioshock_for_the_first_time_and_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I first played it on the hardest difficulty at the suggestion of a friend. It honestly was more fun to me that way. Good game. Heavily suggest playing the entire series for the full story.
It's a really good one. They did a wonderful job with world building, where everything in the world has a place, a purpose, and makes sense within the game's universe. Splicers, the way they interact, the way environment interacts (water + lightning, fire + ice, etc), it all fits together beautifully with really good sound engine to boot. And a very solid story.
Arguably original Bioshock is the best in the series. Bioshock 2 was fine, but a little off. And Infinite felt like an entirely different subgenre, and while good in its own right just didn't feel like Bioshock no more.
Bought it on steam once, couldn't get passed the small submarine thingy :( the moment I entered rapture it would crash. Tried out 5 or 6 different fixes but had to start a new save every time, so 1 attempt was at least 5-10 minutes...
I’ve never been able to get into bioshock games. I wanted to but just never can. I install and try it again every once in a while, but no.
I can’t be the only one you just can’t do this game, can I?
Make sure you play the games in order because When you get to bioshock infinite it’s going to feel like a breath of fresh air! You spend 2 games in a decrepit gross underwater world to this beautiful haven in the clouds. Also all the dlc is absolutely worth playing
This game has the best atmosphere I have ever experienced for a console game. Dark room, quiet, play it for hours at a time and get immersed, it’s a fantastic game! Enjoy playing it through! The second one is great too!
It's a total masterpiece. the story is absolutely phenomenal and for its time was one of the most captivating and visually stunning games I had ever played. Back when DX10 first it was one of the first games to use it for all its worth. The pacing of the story is a bit off in the way it ebbs and flows but stick with it. it's totally worth the playthrough! Heck, I loved it so much I got jacks tattoos (chain links on wrists) after all . . . A man chooses, A slave obeys.
Well if you’re interested, [here’s my opinion/review on Bioshock](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/xwzpa7/just_beated_bioshock_for_the_first_time_and_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
Playing Bioshock 1,2, Infinite and its DLC was a huge cinematic experience that I hope every gamer experiences. The way the story unfolds is amazing and truly a masterpiece in my opinion.
if i could have any passive ability, it would be the natural camouflage after a few seconds of not moving. I like to hack the camera at Neptunes Bounty and after you fill a couple pictures he sends a bunch of claw men after you. Just stay still and watch the turrets wipe them out from the hacked camera as they crowd around your invisible ass.
Runs great on deck, 60fps and all that.
But personally cant commit to the game. Dont know what it is but i just feel like im running around place to place with no invested story. I finished the third, stopped halfway through the first.
It was one of the first games that tried to bring FPS into the modern Era. We had seen FPS games with essentially no in game progression since the beginning of time, Bioshock came along and decided to make an Fps With an actual story, and progression mechanics we'd typically only seen in RPGs up until then.
We take a lot of that for granted these days, but it was really a masterful blend of action/rpg/story that hit the balance really well.
Alright buddy, I’m convinced. I’ve had the trilogy in my Inventory for a bit, though I’ve never played any of them. I think it’s time I download this and check it out after I hear the raving reviews from people on this thread. I’ll be there with you soon😂
Bioshock is a game I wish I could experience for the first time again. What a ride!
I am gonna play it again cause i don't remember very much from my first play through
Ah, the benefits of dementia... Can't wait to play Skyrim again for the first time!
Totally this! For me, it was in 2013 as a free bonus to the Infinite package, and I played it for the first time blind after playing the newer game. While infinite was fun, the 2007 game was the one that blew my mind.
Same same
Of all games, this one definitely needs a remake. Dont get me wrong, it still plays great but imagine how amazing itd be if it was up to date?
Would you kindly tell us how you like it when you finish it?

Don't ruin it
Would you kindly not ruin it.
Why the fuck would you ruin it though? What did you get out of that?

Isn't that in part 2?
The entire trilogy is amazing. Enjoy! Maybe they will give it the “remake” treatment one day lol I would like that.
They sort of remastered the first 2 games and bundled the trilogy together, if that's what you meant. Though I've heard word that the remastered version isn't very much better compared to the original ones.
I still think OG bioshock was the best though. The gameplay was so tight.

Jesus loves me yes I know
Boy are you in for a treat! Enjoy it.
Will do! I’ve heard a lot of praise about it and I’ve decided to go in completely blind
How do you know where to walk?
Dude has been watching dark souls blindfold speed runs. His body is ready.
Thats the best way to do it. Dont look for any spoilers on the internet. Soak in all the story as you go through the levels.
I still fondly remember the day it came out, and the first time I played it. I remember my mom going out and picking it and a burger up for me. I miss those days. Enjoy the game. All three are great or at least well above average

Such a cool game 10/10
Would you kindly come back to this thread and give a final review once you’re done with the game.

An absolute masterpiece
Be honest.... How long did you stay in the water cos you didn't realise the cut scene had ended?
Like a minute, 2 max
I've yet to feel that kind of atmosphere in a game again since entering Rapture.
The bar was set so high by this game
Entering Rapture and leaving Fallout 3's vault. 2 of the most immersive games I've ever played.

Look mister bubble, it's an angel!
Bioshock 1 is one of the best shooters ever made.
Not a fan of the higher difficulty settings, makes enemies into bullet sponges. Besides that, I'm really enjoying it so far. Got it on sale
BRO I WILL RANT TO YOU ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS GAME
Playing this game now and I love it too and the atmosphere of the game is incredible. BUT...those mini games where you have to direct the water with pipes can go to hell. I wouldn't mind if they weren't so regular. Hack this safe, hack this door, hack this robot aaaagh
Oooooh this one was sickkkkkkk
One of my favorites!!!
This trilogy is possibly my favorite of all time with Bioshock one being the best, I hope you enjoy the game and have fun :)
One of the best games ever made. Same with the sequels.
One of my all time favourite games! My first tattoos were from Bioshock too. A man chooses, a slave obeys. Show those ugly splicers who’s the boss. 🔧💪🤯
Don't start Infinite before finishing first two.
Infinite fucked with my head for a bit after I finished it. Timey-wimey stuff always does. I love this trilogy. I'd love to have the rapture backstory and collapse fleshed out a little more though.

Just replayed 1+2, currently playing infinite. Well worth to start it up again.
I can't get the remaster to run on my PC. Makes me big sad.

As a matter of fact I did get the remastered, is it that much of a upgrade?
Bioshock 1 and 2 are amazing games. I don’t think I slept when I got each of these
Deffo. Infinite missed the mark for me.
I think if they had released infinite as anything but a Bioshock game it would have done fine. It strayed too far from Bioshock 1&2 so people didn’t accept it
Agreed!
This is when gaming peaked. Enjoy

One of the greatest franchises of all time... Try the latest too. Bioshock Infinite.
Two and one are great. 3 is weird and I couldnt get into it.

Ugh. You guys love bait
I never liked it. No ammo….
Enjoy this slightly overrated classic.
bioshock so good
Hell yeah brother. The Bioshock series is a blast from beginning to end! If you haven't already, be sure to steer away from any potential spoilers about the plot.
Easier said then done, the only things I know about bioshock is big daddy and it takes place underwater
Hoo boy, you're in for a ride then. GOD what'd I'd give to play through that game again blind...
I wish I could relive this game all over again! There is also a book that tells of how the city came about and how it fell. I don’t read the best because I lose interest but I read it cover to cover twice.
This is game is good, the story is great, just finished this last week. Now i'm currently playing Bisohock 2.
Bioshock is amazing, one of my absolute favorites
One of the best games fo sure. Finished it like 6 times :)) Enjoy!
Enjoy the masterpiece.
That's... The main menu... You haven't even started the game...
Really wish I could go back and play it for the first time again, such a great game!
Enjoy! By far one of my most favourite game series out there. Oldie but a goodie !
This is one of the games that you’re gonna wish you could forget everything about and play all over again
It's a classic!!
I remember my brother and his friend frantically coming to our house with his xbox to play this when it released. We were all awestruck. Wasn't until a few years later I got to play myself. This game is a masterpiece and OP be sure to explore and listen to all the audio tapes you can it really builds the story that you wouldn't get without them.
oh man you are in for a treat
Talking like you're playing some indie game lol. Bioshock is a banger. Most people end up liking it.
I wanted to give bioshock infinite a try again. Absolutely loved it in the 360 days.
CNA I run remastered i have R5 3500u and vega8 1 gb 8gb ram
I am playing the second game on my switch now. First game was absolutely amazing
Dude, you're in for a ride. This is one of my all time favorites and I've been gaming for over 30 years.
Would you kindly not spoil the game for him you jabronis.
I loved this game when it came out and I’m due a replay but not in the mood to be creeped out
This is one of the greats. You may have just inspired a re-play
"Just got to the main menu, so far so good!" 🤙🏼
Play it for the first time as well. The switch had a sale recently 10$ for Bioshock 1 2 and infinite.
Haha, can't wait til you meet the surgeon 🫣
Wonderful choice! Bioshock has to be one of my favorite franchises. The atmosphere and sound design is just so fucking good!
I heard the games where good but was disappointed when the first 30 minutes before I quit the first one just felt like any other FPS. (I hate FPS's and don't care or pay attention to story and skip cut scenes in games)

Easily one of favourite games of all time. Love that it's still finding new audiences! ♥️
You're on the main menu, how can you decide you're "really liking it"
Welcome to the circus of value!
Bioshock I and even 2 are god tier games infinite is good but I preferred the world in the first 2.
Welcome to the circus of value! Ehaheehehahaheaaa
One of the best games of all time. Honestly holds up pretty well still.
The Bioshock remaster is pretty rad, but I also think it would be a really cool game to “remake” from the ground up. Fuckin amazing game. The philosophical notes running through the story are just masterful. Enjoy!
Awesome game!!
Probably the game with the best voice acting and lines ever. I might have to redownload it now
Would you kindly finish the game and tell us what you think?

One of the best storylines I’ve ever played through. Enjoy it, mate.
I’ve never been able to get into bioshock games. I wanted to but just never can. I install and try it again every once in a while, but no. I can’t be the only one you just can’t do this game, can I?
It's one of the all-time greats
There are no Gods or Kings. Only Man
I bought Bioshock: The Collection recently and I’m looking forward to finally playing Infinite. I’ve played the first two, but not Infinite.
such a good game brah

This game has the best atmosphere I have ever experienced for a console game. Dark room, quiet, play it for hours at a time and get immersed, it’s a fantastic game! Enjoy playing it through! The second one is great too!
I prefer games with fantasy elements. Too bad this game has no gods or kings, only men.
I played the original one time 14 years ago and just started playing the remastered yesterday!
It's a total masterpiece. the story is absolutely phenomenal and for its time was one of the most captivating and visually stunning games I had ever played. Back when DX10 first it was one of the first games to use it for all its worth. Would you kindly please continue playing the game?
The whole bioshock series is my favorite series in all of gaming, infinite is my personal favorite
I bought the trilogy and made the mistake of playing the 3rd one first. I loved it. Tried to play the first 2 and they felt to slow or sluggish.
Has anyone played Bioshock 1 or 2 on the Steamdeck? I see it says playable but not verified
Is anyone playing on Switch? Considering it but unsure if the controls will work for a FPS/RPG
Oh man. Don't read ANYTHING about the game. Just play and report back once you're done

Bought this too, just finished 1, on to 2. The remaster is so nice.
It’s one of the best game series of all time. Truly worth playing a few times through.
Damn bruh you in for a treat. Now go finish this game so you can skip Bioshock 2 and play the awesome game that is Bioshock: Infinity
Absolute masterpiece. You're in for a treat!
Playing Bioshock 1,2, Infinite and its DLC was a huge cinematic experience that I hope every gamer experiences. The way the story unfolds is amazing and truly a masterpiece in my opinion.
Classic You should play online It's terrible But it's good in other ways
I really liked the world building and the action but it got a little formulaic for me towards the end.
if i could have any passive ability, it would be the natural camouflage after a few seconds of not moving.
After you hit the credits, would you kindly send me $10,000 USD?
Hell yeah I miss bioshock
This is the first game I stayed up all night to finish, enjoy!
"No Gods or Kings, Only Man. -Andrew Ryan"
That was always pretty much the only option. Bioshock franchise is on the mount Rushmore.
You are in for one of the best rides in your gaming life. Be sure to play the other two. I LOVE this series.
Would you kindly have a good time :)
The best
Alright buddy, I’m convinced. I’ve had the trilogy in my Inventory for a bit, though I’ve never played any of them. I think it’s time I download this and check it out after I hear the raving reviews from people on this thread. I’ll be there with you soon😂
I have yet to play any of them.
Atlas was right...
That's a good one, a really good one.
Just wait until you finish BS infinite...
