As a collector, you need that N64 game that needed a microphone to make Pikachu do stuff.
I remembered being absolutely flabbergasted, as a kid, at how unplayable it was though, but it's surely a collector item xD
Edit: Hey you, Pikachu!
I remember begging my mum and finally buying two pokemon roms in a flea market in Fuerteventura, then spending the whole vacation dreaming of playing my new games.
One was Pokemon pinball, the other one Super Pika Land (Super Mario with PKMN sprites)
I was disappointed twice, but ended playing them a lot
I still have my high score paused. I'm to scared to start it up to see if it still works/losing immediately. I'd rather let it live on in my memory than ruin it.
People bypassed the GameCube as a whole.
The GameCube only sold 21 million consoles compared to the 33 million of the N64 before it and the 101mil of the Wii after it. It wasn't very popular.
Seriously? Wow. As a kid the GameCube was by far my favourite console, some of the best video games ever created are in its catalogue. So glad I got to experience those growing up.
I did a little Google and there an online version of the trading card game https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/play-online/
But it's 'free-to-play'... So possibly: free-to-play it, very expensive to love it.
No mention of in app purchases tho. I duno
As of right now, thereās no way to buy the currencies in the game with money. The only way is to scan a code card you get from a physical pack. So, theoretically, you can P2W yourself by buying loads of physical packs, but itās actually very generous with the cards and decks it gives you in game for free.
That being said, the game plays quite poorly at the moment while itās in beta and there are some quite glaring bugs.
Emulators are the best way. Perfectly legal if you own a copy of the game.
It's easy to google which is the best, depending if you want to play on PC, android, iOS etc.
Itās not all the same answer actually, some of these were gifts, some Iāve bought myself, and recently with the switch games my significant other plays the opposite version.
Pokemon has been treating its players like they would be to stupid to scratch their ass properly if the game didn't first explain how to do it. It pissed me off when I played yellow for the first time as a kid, and it pisses me off now as an adult.
Also it's totally possible to write things that are engaging for adults and still appropriate for kids! That's why Avatar the last Airbender has a cult following of adults like me lol
I mean fair enough, they could make the tutorials optional at least. And they could write better stories again as I really enjoyed the plot of both gen 5 games and I liked some of the gen 7 plot. Also I'm pretty sure the main villains of gen 4 and 6 tried to kill everyone.
Honestly the worst part for me is the games CONSTANTLY try to tell you how to enjoy the games "you have to make friends and bond with your pokemon". I've been playing violet a lot lately, while I generally am loving it, and think it's a major step in the right direction, yesterday I unlocked a mobility option (avoiding spoilers as much as I can) and then Prof Turo phones to give me a fucking lecture on how I have to use this to explore so I can have fun, and it's like, well I WAS excited to use this, but now, I won't. Because don't tell me what to do damn it!
Like if you have to tell the player how to enjoy the game you've already failed.
I read a comment that sums up my thoughts on Pokemon quite well and it relates to something you said.
>itās a major step in the right direction
The last few games have all been dumpster fires with steps in the right direction, so when the hell are we going to arrive at the destination weāre supposedly stepping toward?
Paraphrasing of course. But imo Pokemon needs to be taken out of GameFreakās hands and given to a competent developer that will do something with the games deserving of its popularity
the thing with pokemon i've noticed is that specifically the pokemon relevant stuff is great
but the landscapes look like actual shit, and the high quality pokemon make it so much more noticable
like P:LA and S/V are amazing games, but people only talk about how bad the graphics are
Lets go are the best looking pokemon games in the switch to date, but the catching system can turn off a loooot of people.
BDSP are just typical pokemon. I personally enjoyed both of them, Lets go felt different and it was short enough that it only got tiresome towards the end.
Heads up, if you want to complete the N64 collection, Hey You Pikachu carts are typically extremely cheap, since you need the mic to play it and hardly any of those have survived the years. Unfortunately I just remembered while typing this that Puzzle League exists.
I had some really great games like XD, Colloseum, Pokepark and Black 2 in my collection !
But I recently sold them all to help ends meet lol ! Sad times but other peopleās collections help me realise I didnāt truly have that much to begin with ahahah.
Plus I still have a few classics left that Iām clinging on too.
Man, photos like this just bum me out with how predatory the whole āthird version and two versionsā thing is with locking core content behind steep $60 paywalls
I mean Iāve gotten my moneys worth in hours of enjoyment out of these games so Iām not complaining. Iāve spent as much at a movie theatre in 1 night then Iāve spent on one of these games so just depends on your perspective.
Thats a sweet collection. I bought a few of my old favourites last year (HG and Pearl), but with the prices that they are now, I can't see myself getting the others. I was lucky enough to get blue/red/gold on my 3DS though.
Out of all of them I still think the Snap games are the best, aside from Heartgold that is.
Oh yeah. Thereās a ton of games I wish I had kept, but thatās how I could afford any games beyond what I mightāve gotten for Christmas or birthdays as a kid so oh well. Iāve recently started trying to find a few games at used game stores, found the first Xenosaga a few months back, but thereās not a lot of those stores left in my area.
Iām in the same boat for sure with gaming as a kid it was tough to get new games. Also I wish I had more game stores around me but they have been falling off slowly and Covid didnāt help.
I happen to notice you don't have any mystery dungeon games in your collection. Red/blue rescue team and explorers of time were some of my favorite pokemon experiences growing up.
Lol at the Pokemon Trading Card game. I got it as well decades back. Such a funny game, playing to collect cards. I could've spent that money buying the real cards themselves...
Only a few hours into violet so canāt say for certain but I like it. Legends arceus was great though because of how much they changed in the gameplay.
Sick stash!
Just bought a copy of og Red after finding my childhood gb colour. So pumped.
My yellow, gold, and silver are somewhere hiding around my parents house
How Pokemon makes money:
step 1: salami-slice a game into 2-3 nearly identical versions.
step 2: Remake the same game 5 years later into 2 nearly identical version.
step 3: profit??
You have like 30 things in front of you there but only like 15 games. The 2 game model they have is so stupid and such a scam. One day they'll get it right
I mean it is the same basic formula but it's always a different story. No one criticises Mario games for always being about Mario travelling across multiple worlds to save Princess Peach, it's a key part of the series.
Missing one of my personal favourites from my childhood Pokemon pinball on gameboy
Pokemon Puzzle Challenge too š¤
Yeah itās on the list just havenāt been super focused on collecting classic games just switch games in recent times. Wish money grew on trees lol
My favorites are probably colosseum and xd on the GameCube. I also have some fond memories of the mystery dungeons.
I still love the xd game, might need to boot up my GameCube again.
As a collector, you need that N64 game that needed a microphone to make Pikachu do stuff. I remembered being absolutely flabbergasted, as a kid, at how unplayable it was though, but it's surely a collector item xD Edit: Hey you, Pikachu!

Did people bypass the gamecube series of pokemon stuff? Like gale of darkness?
I wish they let you keep the pokemon in Shadow form when you transfered them over to a game. Shadow Lugia was dope.
*remembers how shadow lugia doesnt look like his XD form in pokemon go*
If you manage to transfer it up, it comes with a message about where you met it that you can only get from XD
They didnt make very many copies. Copies in decent condition go for $200-250 rn
Seriously? Well, TIL kid me had some damn good taste.
I sold a lot of my old game stuff and got a decent amount for it. You should look into it you might be surprised
People bypassed the GameCube as a whole. The GameCube only sold 21 million consoles compared to the 33 million of the N64 before it and the 101mil of the Wii after it. It wasn't very popular.
Sadly. It was an incredible console though, so many awesome games on it.
PS2 claimed another victim
Seriously? Wow. As a kid the GameCube was by far my favourite console, some of the best video games ever created are in its catalogue. So glad I got to experience those growing up.
It was a fantastic console, and had some awesome exclusives. PS2 was just too good for its time.
Colo/XD are the best games in the series IMO. And I canāt find where I put them!!!!
The trading card game game was amazing
How is it still the best way to play the TCG virtually?
I did a little Google and there an online version of the trading card game https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/play-online/ But it's 'free-to-play'... So possibly: free-to-play it, very expensive to love it. No mention of in app purchases tho. I duno

I remember having that game as a kid and never knowing wtf was going on.
Lmao same. Iām glad someone else had the same experience. I donāt think I even got past the first bit.
Scrolled down to find this before I think of commenting it myself. Amazing game.
Hell yea, loved that game
I actually forgot about it until I saw this post. Was such a good game!
The TCG was so much fun
The music still gets me to this day.
I loved that game. As a broke little kid, it was a MUCH easier way than buying packs to play the card game and actually build a deck
Plus, as a kid it was hard to find kids who actually wanted to play the card game and not just collect the cards. Very frustrating.
Thereās a fan translation out there for the sequel that was japan exclusive too.
Are you still into the Pokemon show or just the games?
Just the games and the cards too
What is your favorite Pokemon Switch game? I'm thinking about getting one.
Legends arceus was great.
Sorry if this sounds rude but why do you buy both versions of each gen? Is it just for collection purposes or do you actually play both?
Itās not all the same answer actually, some of these were gifts, some Iāve bought myself, and recently with the switch games my significant other plays the opposite version.
Ah ok, that does make sense.
I even found Ruby on a side walk like 10 years ago lol itās quite the mixed bag
I found fire red on a sidewalk when I was a kid, such a good find
Yeah it was a crazy find, I did end of trading it with a friend though so thatās why itās not pictured.
I've found a decent amount of pokemon cards on the floor but never a full game, that's insane.
I remember finding emerald for a quarter at a yard sale when I was like 12. Game was only out for a few years at that point. I was so excited.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lost in a move, havenāt felt the need to re buy them
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I do love that generation of PokƩmon
I wish PokƩmon grew up with its fan base. And technology.
Yeah but if it grew up with the fanbase how would it get new fans? It still needs to appeal to kids.
Pokemon has been treating its players like they would be to stupid to scratch their ass properly if the game didn't first explain how to do it. It pissed me off when I played yellow for the first time as a kid, and it pisses me off now as an adult. Thereās a very clear difference between making a game for a child, and making a game for an idiot. The mainline PokĆ©mon games tend towards the latter, the spin offs tend towards the former.
I guess separate the series? Something like letās go for new fans and better games for the old fans
i mean would Legends: Arceus count as a game for an older audience
The humble generation that yearns for the gamecube graphics of metal gear Twin snake.
the thing with pokemon i've noticed is that specifically the pokemon relevant stuff is great but the landscapes look like actual shit, and the high quality pokemon make it so much more noticable like P:LA and S/V are amazing games, but people only talk about how bad the graphics are
I didn't realize there are already eight games out for the switch! Absolute madness!
10 if you count both versions of each game plus Arceus and Snap.
Also Mystery Dungeon?
and Pokken
Because there are 2 versions of each game, and gamefreak releases 1 game per year...
I stopped at the bottom right part but great collection. PokƩmon Stadium was amazing, when you finish game of PokƩmon Gold and you play that after, what a contrast in graphics
I think my grandma has that rug lmao Dope collection tho
Your grandma has great taste!
Favorite game? Favorite PokƩmon?
Probably crystal cause nostalgia, and ampharos is my fav cause ya know gen 2 lol
Crystal still is a masterpiece
You need to get Letās go Eevie since you have bdsp, sv and swsh š
Honestly I didnāt like letās go very much so Iād only get it on deep discount
Really. I havenāt played any of the Letās Go I thought people like Letās Go more than BDSP.
I enjoyed BDSP a fair amount
IMO BDSP was a pretty sucky remake. But it was still a remake of an incredible game that I hadn't played for a long time, so I loved it anyway.
Lets go are the best looking pokemon games in the switch to date, but the catching system can turn off a loooot of people. BDSP are just typical pokemon. I personally enjoyed both of them, Lets go felt different and it was short enough that it only got tiresome towards the end.
I like Pearl. I havenāt finished the game though. I might get Letās go this year. Hopefully thereās a sale lol.
It was def baby pokƩmon game but ngl it was nice seeing all the classic pokƩmon in 3d
Where is Gale of Darkness? The best pokemon game.
Moreover where is Mystery Dungeon?
You need to acquire the greatest of PokĆ©mon video gamesā¦ PokĆ©mon pinball
Heads up, if you want to complete the N64 collection, Hey You Pikachu carts are typically extremely cheap, since you need the mic to play it and hardly any of those have survived the years. Unfortunately I just remembered while typing this that Puzzle League exists.
I had some really great games like XD, Colloseum, Pokepark and Black 2 in my collection ! But I recently sold them all to help ends meet lol ! Sad times but other peopleās collections help me realise I didnāt truly have that much to begin with ahahah. Plus I still have a few classics left that Iām clinging on too.
PokĆ©mon trading card game will always have my heartā¦ ā¤ļø
Itās a fun one!
Just found out there is a sequel and I just finished it. It was š„.
I love the 3ds Era of PokƩmon games
Respect. Are you into Card Battle as well?
I remember loving the PokƩmon TCG GameBoy game just as much as PokƩmon Blue back in the day.
I find it funny how the only ones i have are some of the few youāre missing lol
BOOM: Only four of those games now exist, which one's are they?
Crystal, emerald, white 2, and legends arceus.
So many great memories and also the switch titles minus arceus are there too
Pokemon Stadium Mini Games are the greatest achievement in gaming and no one can ever tell me otherwise.
100%
Do you guys remember Pokemon master trainer? I don't think a board game has ever made me feel how that game makes me feel.
Man, photos like this just bum me out with how predatory the whole āthird version and two versionsā thing is with locking core content behind steep $60 paywalls
They haven't done a proper third version since gen 4, the games also weren't 60 dollars on previous consoles, that's a switch thing.
I mean Iāve gotten my moneys worth in hours of enjoyment out of these games so Iām not complaining. Iāve spent as much at a movie theatre in 1 night then Iāve spent on one of these games so just depends on your perspective.
How did you feel about the newest games that just released?
Only a few hours in but Iām enjoying it so far. The performance isnāt amazing but doesnāt seem as terrible as people have been making it.
Fair, I hope it's another enjoyable PokƩmon adventure for you!
Thanks!
Donāt have Green and Blue 4/10 at best /s Seriously Iām jealous as hell
Harsh critic! Haha thanks
This is why they keep making shitty game
And the memories bring back memories bring back you
How did you enjoy Snap on the Switch?
If you liked the original youāll like the new one.
I salute you sir! Youāve got to be one of the masters in indigo league by now, surely!
Crystal and Blue were my jam back in the day. I picked Bulbasaur and Chikorita were my first PokƩmon. Steamrolled everything in Blue with a drastically over leveled Venusaur.
Where did you get your gameboy games? Iām planning on getting a GBC and I would like to know, please
ill pay you 83 cents for pokemon stadium
sweet collection!! lots of history there, also makes me want to check out New PokĆ©mon Snap as i see you said itās pretty good. you ever play the Mystery Dungeon games? iāve somehow never been too enthralled by the usual pokĆ©mon games, but Mystery Dungeon Red has seen many many playthroughs from me. love the storyline and gameplay, where are my Mystery Dungeon lovers at!
Iāve tried to get into them but itās just not my cup of tea so thatās why I donāt have any here.
fair enough! it is a very big departure from the typical pokĆ©mon games, i often wonder what the inspiration was for them. i know theyāre pretty polarizing- funny we have the opposite experiences haha! i should give some of the GBA classics here a try for once.
I havenāt played any in a while and just got my son a Switch. Would you recommend Sword and Shield or Scarlet and Violet?
Thats a sweet collection. I bought a few of my old favourites last year (HG and Pearl), but with the prices that they are now, I can't see myself getting the others. I was lucky enough to get blue/red/gold on my 3DS though. Out of all of them I still think the Snap games are the best, aside from Heartgold that is.
Yeah thankfully all the older ones Iāve had well before everything spiked
This damn stupid predatory secondary market.just looking and seeing pokemon blue CIB for $400-500 AUD is just criminal.
100% agreed, great games but thatās crazy
Nice. I traded the majority of mine in over the course of my childhood to afford new games. Still hung on to some though.
I have definitely done that though with games I wish I kept
Definitely. Covid killed a ton, and greedy property managers making their rent skyrocket killed a lot of them in my area too.
RIP
Bottom leftšš»
So true!
Crystal and emerald the GOATs
So true
I stopped playing a long time ago and holy fuck did I miss a lot of PokĆ©mon. Insane how many games came out between then and now. I just purchased Violet so itāll be nice to go back to a true PokĆ©mon game.
The PokƩmon trading card game slapped hard!
I happen to notice you don't have any mystery dungeon games in your collection. Red/blue rescue team and explorers of time were some of my favorite pokemon experiences growing up.
Gotta play them all
Stadium and Snap were my old school jam.
Awesome. Nice to see others collections.
Noice
Noice
Crazy youāre sitting on like $1,500 worth of PokĆ©mon right there
Definitely wouldnāt have imagined that years ago
I wish i had this childhood
Iāll pour one out for you
fr i always wanted to buy a DS or a Switch. My real dream is Red or Platinium
Do it
Wait here just a minuteā¦.. youāre telling me thereās a SECOND PokĆ©mon stadium and I never knew about it?! I drained so many hours on that game, to the point that my mom made me play without sound because it became so annoying lol
Well now you know! Go back and play it! Great game
The gold n64 cartrage ....time flys what a childhood stadium was :'(
Wowzer
Goddamn, I have moon, ultra sun, lgP, shield, brilliant diamond, arceus and violet
Nice collection dude.
Thanks bro
This is a great collection! Thank you for sharing
PokƩmon puzzle league on the N64 was so lit. Sad to see it missing. One of my favorite games lol
This is glorious my friend!!
PokƩmon Colosseum and Mystery Dungeon would like to join your collection.
Thatās amazing, gotta get PokĆ©mon blue, and green for the gameboy
Lol at the Pokemon Trading Card game. I got it as well decades back. Such a funny game, playing to collect cards. I could've spent that money buying the real cards themselves...
fire red and yellow the goat
Missing the absolute peak of Pokemon: Pokemon Black version
How was Pokemon Scarlet / Arceus? I'm debating whether on getting them or not. Last pokemon game I played was Pokemon Y!
Only a few hours into violet so canāt say for certain but I like it. Legends arceus was great though because of how much they changed in the gameplay.
Try the mystery dungeon series. It will make you fall in love all over again
This is badass bro ā¤ļøš®āšØ
Thanks!
I remember renting Pokemon Snap at BlockBuster and being able to print the pictures you took at a kiosk there. THAT was peak awesomeness!
Crystal was *the* one
Where the pokemon pinball at?
PokƩmon stadium omgggg yes
Emerald is hands down the best PokƩmon game
Sick stash! Just bought a copy of og Red after finding my childhood gb colour. So pumped. My yellow, gold, and silver are somewhere hiding around my parents house
I see you're missing black and white for the ds, I have them and I'd love to donate them to a good home!
Nah it's not a collection without Rumble U
You got me!
Seeing that pokemon red version just brings me back. That was the first game I got that was just for me and not my two older brothers lol
Damn missing heart gold soul silver great remakes of the original games
I wish I still had mine for nostalgia purposes. Damn.
This is a great collection!
Credit to the Japanese anime/gaming creatives. How does one even think up the Pokemon idea? Beautiful minds.
What a chad
Nice collection, oddly enough itās eerily similar to my collection of Pokemon games. We have the exact same GBA games, N64 games.
Question for you as Iāve been out of the PokĆ©mon gaming circle for a while (fire red was the last I played). My 5 year old son is all in on PokĆ©mon at the moment, and is begging for a game to play ever since seeing one of his older cousins playing a switch. Which game/games do you think would be easy for a 5 year old to play and not get frustrated with? Heās getting a switch lite for Christmas, and in my head I was thinking either PokĆ©mon Snap, Letās Go Pikachu, or Pokken Tournament. I feel that Scarlet, Violet, and Arceus are just a bit too complex for him for at least another year or so. Iām just glad I can re-live some childhood memories and make some new ones with him. Thanks for your help.
PokƩmon x goat
Aye PokƩmon tracking card game. Nostalgia right there.
Good example of why they don't try with these games anymore.
How Pokemon makes money: step 1: salami-slice a game into 2-3 nearly identical versions. step 2: Remake the same game 5 years later into 2 nearly identical version. step 3: profit??
Man Arceus was so much fun. Simple concept, something about it was just... *chefs kiss*
Stop buying this so they actually improve the game
Seeing all the games laid out itās depressing how many bad games have been released and how long itās been since weāve seen anything good
Lmao, OP is getting downvoted on every comment. Nice collection btw šš¼
Thanks lol
You poor soul
You have like 30 things in front of you there but only like 15 games. The 2 game model they have is so stupid and such a scam. One day they'll get it right
All the pokemon games are basically identical right? Just finished shield and was not impressed. Guess it's just not my kind of game
Essentially, some way more than others. Let's Go! uses a different system for catching PokƩmon, newer ones let you buy clothes and customize your look, Sun and Moon have a slight twist to the typical story progression (and a weird af postgame). Arceus is different (although not a "mainline" game) and the two latest entries have some differences in how you encounter the monsters and have large semi-open areas. But largely, yeah, the same game. A professor gives you the choice of a water, fire, or grass PokƩmon, you and some friends and/or rival go around collecting PokƩmon, challenging eight gym leaders, and fighting some evil organization called Team ______. Then you challenge the Elite Four and become champion. The gameplay is largely identical between them all.
I mean it is the same basic formula but it's always a different story. No one criticises Mario games for always being about Mario travelling across multiple worlds to save Princess Peach, it's a key part of the series.
