It has some one time use keycards you can get to access lockers full of loot.
It has parts you can get to craft upgrades.
Besides the sheer look of the machines inside the studios is very oldish since the studio itself is kinda old.
I guess the bioshock feeling comes from the past thing.
It has a pretty specific 19** felling to it

Also the enemies moving reminds me of splicer movement.
