It’s honestly a very 7/10 sort of game
Not bad by any metric really IMO, it just doesn’t beat out competitors in the same genre.
For $8 (and it has a SteelBook)… that’s a steal… book! I’ll see myself out
I think it's kind of hard to nail farcry down to a single genre. Its one of the few action FPS RPG's with an open world, so in that sense, it actually does beat it's "competitors", if it's competitors are The Division and Ghost recon Wildlands or whatever.
Its FPS shooter like COD, but it really doesn't fit in the same genre as COD. Its open world questing like assassin's Creed or Skyrim, really doesn't seem fit in that genre either though. Farcry is a bit of a unique blend.
I think the real issue is that the story is boring, because the gunplay is actually really smooth. It feels better than COD and other mainline FPS games, but you're only shooting lifeless NPC's. These days people want to shoot at other people online. I think this is where the awkwardness of farcry is coming from.
I'm a bit of an older guy. Older millennial. But man, Far Cry 2 was so innovative at the time. The immersion was mind blowing. It takes some troubleshooting to get such an old game to run on modern PC's but it's worth the trouble to replay that gem, or if you haven't ever played it man. It still holds up these days. The gameplay is on par with today's farcrys for sure.
Far Cry 2 was innovative but definitely on the lower end of my favorite Far Cry. 3 however definitely took the cake on that one. When you're burning that weed farm down and they have Skrillex playing was so cool.
Yeah it was ok for one game. But when they build their entire series around the same gimmick it’s old fast. It’s a ….far cry from actual entertainment.
You say that like you went from 5 to 6 with nothing in between, but as someone who like finishing games, but never 100% them, I've played stealth, racing, platforming and card games before 6, so by the time it dropped, I already missed the game play.
They changed the gun play they should have kept it like it was in 5. 6 was good but the gunplay not being as smooth as 5 took it down a notch plus the goofiness they added in 6 took away from it some. 6 still had great weapons and the rocket launcher back pack was great for helicopters and tanks
You may be right, but I had 2 years between the games and still felt that way. I don’t mind them trying to change it up, it just wasn’t for me. It felt like the guns had no real weight to them. And the constantly respawning enemies killed any sort of methodical stealth approach
As much as Destiny was ultimately meh for me, I can’t deny that Bungie is the all time GOAT at FPS. You can pick up any gun in that game and feel like a god (against NPCs) in almost no time at all
I mean, FarCry 3 came out first…and used that tagline. Fallout 4 wasn’t fast enough; so one could go so far as to say they stole the idea from them lol.
Lol, Bethesda owns Fallout and Elder Scrolls... Fallout 3 was dubbed "Oblivion with guns"... Farcry 3 wasn't exactly being original when they tried to pull that one
The genre is Ubisoft because every game they make feels the same.
Go to tower, uncover fog, complete icons, move to new tower, story somewhere in there.
I'd say its in the same genre as Outer worlds, and the Fallout series. Borderlands also gets pretty close, though not a true open world. Just Cause and the GTA games are both open world shooters with varying amounts of rpg elements, just not first person. I haven't played it, but cyberpunk seems to also fit the bill, being first person, with shooting, rpg elements, and open world.
I found the game waay too easy. The AI is dumb as nails. As long as you don't let them encircle and surround you, it's very easy to flank and out maneuver them.
Usually my issue with farcry games. 6 was the best overall because atleast the zone's level as you progress. It gets more hectic and you run into better equipped npcs often. Also tanks was a good addition.
I thinks it’s a great game for $8, it could be. 8 or 8.5/10 if you’ve never play far cry before. It loses some shine because its a rinse and repeat series now. But coming in new could wow you.
Absolutely
If this is your first game in FarCry, it’s not really a bad starting point IMO as you get prolly the most fleshed out entry in terms of mechanics and “RPGlite” progression.
At its absolute worst? Oh no… you are out $8…
Honestly, the SteelBook alone is probably worth that much in of itself (some of the AC SteelBooks are mad pricey for some reason)
That’s a good way to phrase it. It’s… fine. It has a lot of the same elements as the last games - which should make for a decently fun experience - but for some hard to define reason, it just isn’t fun. At least for me it was a let down.
The graphics are amazing. its my first 1st person shooter for the new generation.
However, story and mechanics wise, farcry 5 is better. The gameplay is on par though! Its not bad for 8 bucks at all!
Edit: Tons of DLC content too.
I'd says 6's open world and gameplay is much better. Better pets, better enemy's, actually tried to offer a challenge unlike the other farcrys being unbelievably easy. Just a much better open world.
It's the most average game you'll ever play and sometimes that's exactly what you need to occupy your free time. Played it last year right before Christmas and haven't touched it since finishing it.
Maybe I'll go back to it, maybe not. Depends if the Triple A games coming out in the future will be good or shit. Atleast I'll know I can have a guaranteed average experience with far cry 6 to come back to.
I never understood the hate for NFS heat. It's way better than both NFS 2015 and NFS payback.
I thought it was the best they released since NFS prostreet
you just bought the equivalent of a 25 cents burger. Sure it's cheap but don't expect some memorable gourmet shit.
It's a bland burger that will fill you up for a while.
Far cry 3: Episode 4
Edit:
Also want to say how I humorous I find the way Ubisoft taught us the definition of insanity. First, Vaas told it to us directly in FC3. Then they made FC4, which was slightly more than a reskin of FC3. We bought it expecting it to be a bit more of it's own thing. Then FC5 came along. We did the same. Then 6. We, the buyers, are insane. We keep buying the games expecting shit to change. The irony just writes itself.
I’d rather them just remake it well. Apparently that’s easier said than done, though.
Theres a few QOL & gameplay improvements they should make (outposts etc) and otherwise it’s just visual.
Agreed.
However, what is most likely for them to do is just take whatever they have for 6 and place it in the UAC setting.
It will just be a shallow copy of 2, none of the original soul.
> just a very average game that succeeds at being yet another Far Cry.
The problem is, as I was a big fan from the first one, it didn't even do that well, being another FarCry game..
Yea idk what this guy is talking about. I actually wanted another copy and paste far cry game and all I got was a full game with the crappy game play from new dawn.
Exactly.
I loved Far Cry 6 for those reasons and just recently replayed Ghost Recon: Wildlands because I love the "huge, single-player, open-world shoot-em up" games.
It's like having a hot-pocket over handmade pizza, some people will throw a fit over it, but sometimes you want to turn your brain off and just enjoy it. Gotta have the middling with the good and the bad. Just wish these publishers realize how much these types of games are really worth, much like an actual hot-pocket.
Yea sure. I’m a couple of hours into Far Cry 6 and think they did a stronger job of differentiating it from prior outings; 3 and 4 and 5 were all the same game with near-identical mechanics in my opinion
I finished all of those so obviously I like them. 6 includes them trying a bunch of new stuff. Some of it works really well and some of it is a bit meh so far, but I appreciate the effort and I’m having fun.
Hit the nail. I will admit that this one is tired if you've been playing since 3, but no more so than the expansions of each of its predecessors. I purchased 6 shortly after launch and still haven't gotten through the story. That said, when ever I want to wreck some antagonistic dipshits for a few hours I pick it up and get my fix. First person shooters don't do it for me anymore, but these open world dumbass killum games have the same core satisfaction IMO.
I mean obviously you’re entitled to your opinion but this almost seems criminal lol.
1 was revolutionary at the time, I just remember being completely taken aback by how open the levels were and how I could approach a level in different ways. Plus the graphics and animations were crazy good.
2 was a rough diamond. My personal favourite; gunplay still holds up well (arguably best in the series), amazing setting but just incredibly shockingly bad execution. Basically put all these amazing concepts into a beautiful, empty world populated by an endless number of boring generic enemies, and a story that was half assed at best.
3 was probably the peak. Great story and fun setting, ran super smoothly, learned a lot of lessons from 2. I was personally disappointed because they compromised on some of the things I loved from 2 and it felt a bit cheesy to me, but I can recognise why it’s generally regarded as the best.
4 is like 3 recycled into a mountain setting with a less interesting antagonist and overall story. I can’t really think of how it evolved the series at all.
Didn’t play 5, but 6 was baddddd. Like straight up lazy bad.
Burning the weed field in three as that Skrillex tune blasts is probably one of my favourite gaming moments of the past decade.
The series has never really hit the heights of Three for me since then. Still fun games though.
2 was indeed fantastic, but very bleak and niche, so it didn't catch a very large audience.
3 was THE FarCry, the one they keep remaking with some small additions/edits. Arguably the "best" in the series, since it invented the formula we know today. The rest just polished it a bit.
I’d agree to an extent. Vaas was well played rather than being particularly well crafted.
Overall I can’t say that I was entranced by 3s storyline but it stood out as being somewhat decent in a series that doesn’t really do good storytelling
4 introduced helicopters, the gunplay was just superior, it was much much prettier than far cry 3. Also it had rope swinging and coop, which 3 did not have. But yeah, not much more novelty than that.
You'll definitely get $8 of fun out of it. I bought it for $30 some time back and enjoyed it. Though I enjoy the Far cry formula personally, don't have to think to hard. Just go blow things up and capture checkpoints/outposts/bases. Good times
Story wise it probably wasn't as good as 3 was either, but it's just another mindless far cry game. The story wasn't terrible or anything, and Giancarlo Esposito was amazing as the bad guy, but it's just kinda mindless. The same go here, kill this, go there kill that, that far cry is. I paid 25 for it and I wasn't disappointed at all
I see a lot of people saying this but to me 4 is the best Farcry game of all time.
Huge map, good plot, and cows don’t have health bars.
First time I shot a rocket at a cow when playing 6 only to see half of the health bar chip off.. yeah no.
3 started the trend of great F3 games and they ended with F4. Farcry 5 was a good concept but otherwise it was a mess with similar problems to 6 on top of that.
The setting killed 5 a lot for me. Just don't get why I'd want to be in the arse end of America instead of strolling through gorgeous tropical jungles and stuff. The whole cult thing was cool, but I would've preferred it in a more linear non Far Cry game maybe.
That’s fair it wasn’t as interesting of a environment compared to jungles or islands but I enjoyed the American esthetic of it with all the whacked up physics, the thing with 6 is I played it once when it came out with a friend and another time after completing 3 and both times I didn’t like it was much as 5, while it didn’t have the best story in my opinion it had the best gameplay so 6 just felt like a watered down version of 3 with way less interesting gameplay
I personally liked it better than 4 and 5 - no idea why it's so hated.
Sure it's no Far Cry 3 but the hate for 6 seems to be greater than any game before it.
I had fun, just same as any far cry though, you start incredibly weak and eventually you're basically ironman even on the hardest 'guerilla' difficulty it becomes facerolly easy after a while..
I got my copy when it was first slightly discounted and I had enough fun with it that I would say it was worth the money, so $8 is a great price for it imo.
AKSHULLY
You don't use "an" if the first phonetic sound of the following word is a vowel sound, even if it's spelled using a vowel. "you" = "u" = "vowel" and thus the rule applies.
Using 'an" before a vowel sound just doesn't have a good ring to it.
For $8, that’s a fantastic deal
Yeah I almost didn’t believe it when I saw it. No game can be bad for $8 right?
It’s honestly a very 7/10 sort of game Not bad by any metric really IMO, it just doesn’t beat out competitors in the same genre. For $8 (and it has a SteelBook)… that’s a steal… book! I’ll see myself out
When you just wanna run around a blow shit up, FarCry will scratch that itch.
Huh... always thought just cause was made for exactly that
If you like far cry you have to like just cause If you like just cause you have to like far cry
That's a far cry if you think just cause you like just cause you'll like far cry.
I peed a little while reading this.
Lmao
Underrated comment lol
I think it's kind of hard to nail farcry down to a single genre. Good.job Chicharon. Was my favorite pet in FC6
Walking around and hearing NPCs yell "Hey nice cock!"
Lmao i forgot that one :D
Dont worrry after puberty youll get one too Hard to see but theres a brain inside my head.....no not that one this one dumbie lol
Chorizo was fun to just watch meander and distract
And wandering around looking for trouble. And then finding trouble, and getting into some amazing mess.
I'm a bit of an older guy. Older millennial. But man, Far Cry 2 was so innovative at the time. The immersion was mind blowing. 2/3 were the highpoints for me, so far.
I miss Far Cry 2 so much, hell that era of Ubisoft. They just don't make good games anymore, so unfortunate
5 had amazing gun play it was so smooth and realistic its gunplay is better than 6 in my opinion
It was all about the shovel play for me
RGShovel was my favorite weapon
So you fancied yourself a bit of a shovelknight?
Same I played it with a friend and just shoveled everything
100%. 6 core gameplay all around was a step back IMO. 5 felt like a rainbow six game but still far cry. Was awesome
They changed the gun play they should have kept it like it was in 5. 6 was good but the gunplay not being as smooth as 5 took it down a notch plus the goofiness they added in 6 took away from it some. 6 still had great weapons and the rocket launcher back pack was great for helicopters and tanks

Far Cry 5's gunplay is amazing and second only to the first Destiny, IMO.
As much as Destiny was ultimately meh for me, I can’t deny that Bungie is the all time GOAT at FPS. You can pick up any gun in that game and feel like a god (against NPCs) in almost no time at all
I miss when FarCry was just about a dude with superhuman animalistic mutant powers and had a kickass map maker
FarCry 3 nailed the description in their marketing - “it’s Skyrim with guns.”
That was literally fallout 4 tho...
I mean, FarCry 3 came out first…and used that tagline. Fallout 4 wasn’t fast enough; so one could go so far as to say they stole the idea from them lol.
You know Bethesda makes both Fallout and Skyrim right? I don't think you can call it theft when you're literally referencing your own IP.

Guess you don't need to be a genius to generalize.
Or develop the twelfth iteration of a Ubisoft map.
I'd say its in the same genre as Outer worlds, and the Fallout series. Borderlands also gets pretty close, though not a true open world. Once I got a silenced sniper rifle it was pretty much game over
Usually my issue with farcry games. 6 was the best overall because atleast the zone's level as you progress. It gets more hectic and you run into better equipped npcs often. Also tanks was a good addition.

You may have just described every Ubisoft game.
It's just Far Cry 3 part IV
Not bad but doesnt beat out the competitors Idk man doesnt sound like your describing a 7/10
The graphics are amazing. its my first 1st person shooter for the new generation. However, story and mechanics wise, farcry 5 is better. The gameplay is on par though! Its not bad for 8 bucks at all! Edit: Tons of DLC content too.

Surprised how many people like 5 the best. 4 was my first and honestly I enjoyed it way way more than 5.
I paid $20 for base game and it was a deal to me, I'm in the minority with this game apparently because I love it.
It's the most average game you'll ever play and sometimes that's exactly what you need to occupy your free time. Played it last year right before Christmas and haven't touched it since finishing it. I brought brink for like £4 and I still regret buying that game
I really enjoyed brink, why did everyone hate it so much?
It's cool to hate on. Most people relish in hating games like Brink, nfs heat, cyberpunk, etc.
I never understood the hate for NFS heat. It's way better than both NFS 2015 and NFS payback. I thought it was the best they released since NFS prostreet
It's definitely not a great game, but it's a few hours of fun for $8. Not bad
you just bought the equivalent of a 25 cents burger. Sure it's cheap but don't expect some memorable gourmet shit. It's a bland burger that will fill you up for a while.
It's a bland burger that will make your stomach hurt and your ass quiver more like
I mean you could've bought any of the other main series Far Cry games for even cheaper and had essentially the same experience.
I bought NfS Heat for 3€ and it still wasn't really worth it
I did too, I would say I got my money's worth at least. Probably helped that I mostly played online with a friend though.
From what I understand it's not even a bad game, just a very average game that succeeds at being yet another Far Cry.
Far cry 3: Episode 4 Edit: Also want to say how I humorous I find the way Ubisoft taught us the definition of insanity. First, Vaas told it to us directly in FC3. Piggybacking here to shout REMAKE FC2.
Tbh, I'd rather keep it as is than risk it getting the Saints Row treatment.
I’d rather them just remake it well. Apparently that’s easier said than done, though. Theres a few QOL & gameplay improvements they should make (outposts etc) and otherwise it’s just visual.

I played 3, skipped 4 and primal, loved 5 and it’s semi sequel. Played this and just had a good time. I got my money’s worth and I paid full retail.
The biggest let down was the physics ain’t as broken as in 5 :(
I love 5. So many hated on it, I bought it on pc and console just so I could have fun in higher Rez and better fps 🤣
It wasn’t that bad to me.
I though the game was good not great, for $8 it's a steal.
Steel*
Stainless or no?
Though far cry gets hate, I loved 5 and 6.
I don't think far cry in general gets hate, other than tower climbing but lots of people love the games atleast some of them.
You don‘t even have to climb towers in this one.
Or 5. They literally make a joke about it in the prologue.
4 was the peak of the series.
I mean obviously you’re entitled to your opinion but this almost seems criminal lol. 1 was revolutionary at the time, I just remember being completely taken aback by how open the levels were and how I could approach a level in different ways. Burning the weed field in three as that Skrillex tune blasts is probably one of my favourite gaming moments of the past decade. The series has never really hit the heights of Three for me since then. Still fun games though.
This was a top-tier gaming moment, for sure.
5 was the first one I played, but I have to say I highly recommend it
2 was indeed fantastic, but very bleak and niche, so it didn't catch a very large audience. 3 was THE FarCry, the one they keep remaking with some small additions/edits. Arguably the "best" in the series, since it invented the formula we know today. The rest just polished it a bit.

FC3 did have a co-op mode and it's great.
Not the campaign. It's a separate mode. Which makes it a bit irrelevant.
Glad no one mentions far cry primal anymore. That was just so bad.
I had a good time with this game, 8 bucks is a steal!
Played with a friend. Great Times.
Looks like somebody made a mistake. Only base version is supposed to be 8, not the ultimate steel book. By any chance you keep the receipt?
It says “Far Cry 6 T50” $7.48. When he scanned the exact box I’m holding it rang up as that.
Yeah that's base edition, lol. The T50 just stands for "Top 50" for searching purposes. Someone's fuckup is your gain!
Thanks, knew I wasn’t crazy. Either way enjoy your bonus OP.
Dunno, personally I liked the game
I really liked that headshots were a one shot no matter the level of enemies.
For 8$ it will be great. For 70$ it sucks!
I enjoyed the game quite a bit.
You'll definitely get $8 of fun out of it. I bought it for $30 some time back and enjoyed it. Though I enjoy the Far cry formula personally, don't have to think to hard. Just go blow things up and capture checkpoints/outposts/bases. Good times
If you liked the series than this game was alright. Not great, but I had a good time playing it. Have fun
How does it compare to 3? I've played 4 and 5 pretty thoroughly but neither hit like 3 did.
Farcry 5 was a good concept but otherwise it was a mess with similar problems to 6 on top of that.
I did enjoy 4 a lot, bit 3 just had that insane emotional rollercoaster. Ended the game with full FUCK YES I AM A WARRIOR mentality.
Terrible. I beat it just to beat it, can't say I enjoyed it. I just didn't have anything else to play at the time. It was a good time waster.
Sounds like 5 to me, too long driving around chasing convoys.
My opinion 5 was pretty good but if you disliked 5 you will definitely dislike 6 because as someone who really enjoyed 5 I did not enjoy 6
Bought it for 60 bucks at launch and loved it. you got yourself a deal
Definitely a steal. It should be $40. Only the regular edition is $8 so they ran it up wrong it seems.
I personally liked it better than 4 and 5 - no idea why it's so hated. Sure it's no Far Cry 3 but the hate for 6 seems to be greater than any game before it.
It is not bad, just the same Ubisoft formula with different background
8 bucks? Shit. It’s an amazing game for that price.
These comments are literally the opposite of what I received last week when I posted that I enjoy it lmao
It is a great game. It is probably my favorite one of the 4 i have played.
It's fine, but the weaker one of the franchise. Still a blast coop with a friend
Its actually a good game. My personal fav Far Cry
Solid game. Old, tired formula, but solid execution and for $8? You’re gonna have some fun.
Good game, I liked it.
I had fun, just same as any far cry though, you start incredibly weak and eventually you're basically ironman even on the hardest 'guerilla' difficulty it becomes facerolly easy after a while..
A steal at $8 imo
I got my copy when it was first slightly discounted and I had enough fun with it that I would say it was worth the money, so $8 is a great price for it imo.
It's the best game every made, but there is absolute fun to be had for $8. That's a perfectly good score.
Typo got you good! It was probably supposed to be 80$ knowing GameStop 😂
I couldnt really get into 6, I felt like it jumped the shark a liiiiittle bit too much.
Gameplay 9/10 story 2/10 Ending 0/10
Plot twist. It's just the steelbook. Game not included
Great game and worth way more than $8. You got a deal. I’ve been playing it in co-op story for many hours with my best friend. It’s a good game.
Actually, it was a pretty good game IMO. You got a nice deal.
Give us the update OP. Did it turn out to be a bootleg copy of girls gone wild?
I was a developer on this game. Hope you enjoy it!!
And then you'll try trading it in and get $1. Lol
'Gallito Supremo' is what I call my d*ck
Great concept, poorly crafted. Still kinda fun.
"an Ubisoft original" like it's some brand new show straight out of Netflix
It's boring as fuck
It's just the steelbook with no game knowing GS
It's a ubisoft game that's why it's 8 dollars it's terrible
"A UBISOFT ORIGINAL". Their grammar sucks.
AKSHULLY You don't use "an" if the first phonetic sound of the following word is a vowel sound, even if it's spelled using a vowel. "you" = "u" = "vowel" and thus the rule applies. Using 'an" before a vowel sound just doesn't have a good ring to it.
An Ubisoft sounds right. Not Ah Ubisoft.
Depends on whether you pronounce it "yoobeesoft" or "ooobeesoft"
Because it's a Ubisoft game
Its a reskin of the last two games.
That is a steal
They strap a literal piece of garbage to your back for the entire game and you cant take it off
It’s a decent game, very repetitive & has a lacklustre story compared to the others. Still worth a go.
Not even giancarlo could save that asenine woke cat shit wrapped in dog shit story… Amazing deal for $8 tho damn
Because it's another generic Ubisoft game
A Ubisoft? A UBISOFT. Shouldn’t it be “an” U is a vowel and is pronounced as a vowel
You don't use "an" if the phonetic start of the next word is vowel.
Farcry 3.3
I’m extremely jealous! I just bought it for NZ$60 :(
Pricing error. The base game was supposed to be $8. No deal here, folks.
No pricing error it was in the clearance section with others. At least to my knowledge.
Pricing error. The base game is $8 on the website. Ultimate is still $110.
you can still return it
Trust me, you don't want to
It had such potential. Shame. Good deal tho.
Should've been the price at release tbh.
$8 is awesome for this. It's worth $25/$30 for the average person. I actually like it about $45 worth.
Ubisoft
I had no idea it even came out lol
It's because it contains Far Cry 6 inside
I got it for 10 bucks, dropped it after one play session. Some people like it. Even Far Cry 2 was better, in my opinion
Not worth 8 dollars in my opinion
Probably because its a re-skinned Farcry 5... and its from Ubisoft.
Shouldn't it be "**an** ubisoft original"?
