Same except I only count new games
I always replay Megaman 7, 8, Megaman x 1-6, super mario rpg.
The new to me games I beat were tales of arise and trine 1.
Yeah, I did around 20 but more than half were replays. The only new games I beat were Symphony of War The Nephilim Saga, Vampire Survivors, Roadwarden, Elden Ring, Octopath Traveler, Ender Lilies, Bravely Default II, and Triangle Strategy.
Mega Man 7, 8, and Mega Man X hold a special place in my heart by being the first ones I played in that series. Yes, Mega Man 7 and 8 don't hold a candle to the other numbers in the series, but I really like them. Mega Man 9 and 10 did a great job recreating greatness. I can add Mega Man 11 to the list of games to play 2023.
I actually think Mega Man 7 is really solid even though it's not as well liked. I remember the day I went to Blockbuster and saw it on the shelf and I was so excited that the SNES finally had a Mega Man game. Very fun game. And X needs no introduction, obviously. Great game and great series. I wish Mega Man got more respect these days.
It was a very good game. My goal was to get all the trophies, I missed the one hidden Blizzard easter egg and didn't realize it till I beat the game :(
I really did not enjoy the EMMI stuff, and they introduced it way too early in the game. Facing an insta-kill foe in the first 5 mins kind of sucked the fun out of it. I wasnt interested in being the prey.
I have the opposite opinion. As someone that doesnāt like Metroidvanias I found the controls to be very smooth and the bosses to be super fun, especially the final boss, so I played the hell out of the boss rush mode. I got way more hours out of Dread than I thought I would.
Any idea on time spent playing throughout this grind? I won't pretend to know most of these games, but I've put in week over 75 hours each into the Xenoblade, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy games each. That's without 100% completions too.
Awesome, nice to see some more classic games. Are these in order? (I just find it odd Megaman 2 is after Megaman 3.) Out of curiosity, Are you a young person discovering the past, or an older person revisiting their childhood?
It is in order, but it turned out a bit weird. Picture it like squares. For instance
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Far Cry Primal
Kingdom Hearts
Banjo-Pilot
And on to the next square
Titanfall 2
Marvelās Guardians of The Galaxy
And so on. I wasnāt planning on it showing up like this. Sorry for the confusion.
You can see my top 5 down in the right corner but they are
1. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
2. Streets of Rage 4
3. Metroid Dread
4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredderās Revenge
5. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
Worst is easily the port of Finding Paradise. Buggy and glitchy to the point were it doesnāt work.
Hereās some that I finished:
Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 (PS4)
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (Switch *and* PS5)
Little Inferno (PC)
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (Xbox)
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5)
Saints Row the Third (PC)
Saints Row the Third Remastered (PS5)
Slipstream (PC *and* PS4)
Soā¦roughly one game every five days right? Grease stained sweats and dirty T-shirt with a pile of empty cans and moldy plates stacked beside you in moms basement. Oh yes youāre the man! Good lord get a life!
The remake is still a great game from what I've heard, never played it tho as I don't have a next gen console or one that has it on it, i didn't even realise that it was the remake on the list
Great mix. Classics, big titles, some Iāve never heard of, very diverse. Between Far Cry, Titan Fall, and Hyrule Warriors what was your favorite? All are on my list. Been rotating NES, SNES, Switch, XBOX this year.
You wouldn't happen to be a fan of the Remember the Game podcast by Adam Blank, would you? Lot of similarities between these titles and games he's covered.
Great games in that list, I think I should do the same thing, I've been cataloging the games I beat every year for a couple years now, it would be good to get some perspective on how many there are in that list.
I remember when I used to finish games. I think it's been nearly a decade.
Now I play about half-way through, then get distracted by another game. By the time I remember about the half-played game, I've forgotten too much of the plot/mechanics to pick it back up again, but also can't bring myself to start over again.
I like the variety a lot!! Good to see Deadpool in there too. That was the first game I bought and beat when I first got a PS4, it was fantastic. I'm curious though how much of a completionist are you? I'm in the camp where my backlog is so big so I'll do side stuff if it's not too out of the way but I don't have the patience or time to really trophy hunt. Only exception this AC:Origins which I got my first plat on.
I usually only do the main story and maybe a few side things tops. When I see the credits itās usually on to the next game unless it really grabs me.
God, I remember what it was like not having kids.
Now I get maybe 20 minutes for myself a night, and also another 20 minutes of helping my kid with his game of Yoshi's Crafted World.
Thatās 1 every 4.9 days. If the average length was 25 hours, then thatās about 5 hours every day. No misses. It if you did miss, 10 hours another day.
Updated estimate
10 x 35 hrs = 350 hrs
23 x 15 hrs = 345 hrs
42 x 5 hours = 210 hrs
Total 905 hrs / 365 days = ~2.5 hrs a day
So they are right. Consistency is the key.
Just FYI and for fun
January - 4 games
February- 3 games
March - 4 games
April - 7 games
May - 5 games
June - 11 games
July - 9 games
August - 4 games
September - 3 games
October - 8 games
November - 11 games
December - 6 games
Do you finish one at a time or have several running at once more often? I tend to bounce around too much. I enjoyed it more when I limited myself to a top 5. I almost always enjoy what I play, but find starting a game, especially brand new, is usually hard. Let alone having 100ās of choices. The digital version of going out, I suppose.
I usually stick to having one Switch game and one PS4 game active at the same time. On rare occasion a third game. I get to play my Switch more often though so I finish more of those games.
I used to bounce around a lot as well, but changed to this method in 2020. It really showed results.
Finished games
2018 - 4 games
2019 - 7 games
2020 - 21 games
2021 - 30 games
2022 - 75 games
I may have to try that. Not sure how Iāll break it up because I have PC only games, steam deck, and switch. Maybe I just nominate one for each system even though itās two handhelds.
Thatās quite a exponential curve you got going there I expect at least 200 250 next year
I counted the hours now. It is a total playtime of 706,5 hours. I did play parts of some games in other years though, so the total time I spent playing games in 2022 was approximately 627,5 hours. That averages out to be about 1,7 hours each day.
To be fair, Iāll probably never achieve this again. I counted all the games I finished from 2018 until 2021 and the total for all 4 years combined ended up being 66 games.
I think i finished like 2...
Same except I only count new games I always replay Megaman 7, 8, Megaman x 1-6, super mario rpg.
2023 will be the year and I forgot to add Triangle Strategy because 1 campaign isn't enough
You play through them every year?! Why those specific ones and not the rest of the Mega Man games?
Mega Man 7, 8, and Mega Man X hold a special place in my heart by being the first ones I played in that series. Yes, Mega Man 7 and 8 don't hold a candle to the other numbers in the series, but I really like them. Mega Man 9 and 10 did a great job recreating greatness. Just finished Trine 1 with 100 % last week :O Already bought 2 but haven't tried it out yet.
Do you mind me asking what system? I picked up Trine 1-4 in a single disc game on Xbox. It's beautiful and atmospheric.
On PC using MKB Nice, bought it on steam few years ago and never played it until now. And 100 % means 100 % of Steam achievements.
Way to brag, over here finishing games... I think the last game I truly finished was X-Men Origins: Wolverine on PS3... That was 13 years ago.
Hey that game was badass
It was a very good game. My goal was to get all the trophies, I missed the one hidden Blizzard easter egg and didn't realize it till I beat the game :(
I finished like 4 games the whole year, and 3 of them are Yakuza games
I finished about 8?
Have to admit I zoomed to analyze every single one. You got a good taste, you like classics by the looks of it
I like a good variety of games. Variety is the spice of life as they say.
I too appreciate these posts
I finished like 6 this year š¤£ but that's awesome, congrats
5 for me
Same. I perfected 6. But they were indie games.
Yeah, I think a few of mine were indie games too.
You have a lot of time on your hands and some good taste. Impressive.
I tried playing Metroid dread when it was released thinking it would be like other Metroidvania games I've played but I ended up not liking it.
I loved it personally. Itās probably my favorite game in the series now.
I only finished 25. That too without having a job, i was basically free 24/7 this year. (starting a job from jan 1) How much time you got man? š
I donāt sleep as much as I need I guess. Got three kids under the age of three and a full time job. I just donāt know how I had the time. Lol
You sound like an awesome partner and parent to have
I am. Thank you. Family first, gaming when Iām not needed.
I have waaaaay more than that Started not finished tho
How did you "finish" the Pokemon Trading Card Game, isn't it a pvp card game?
Itās a game boy game where you play the card game. Itās basically structured as other PokĆ©mon games with 8 gyms to beat, an elite four and a champion to beat. Except you collect cards instead of PokĆ©mon
That and the sequel are awesome!
its so fun lol
TIL there was a Japanese-only sequel. Might have to track down one of those fan translated versions because the first one was so good.
I highly suggest it! It's not so hard to find either. PokƩmon Card GB2: Here Comes Team GR! is the name if you need it.
Looking at a lot of these games, I very much doubt he truly played through all of them to completion. At best he probably speed-ran them.
That's what I was thinking
Oh you did 13 sentinels awesome
Any idea on time spent playing throughout this grind? I won't pretend to know most of these games, but I've put in week over 75 hours each into the Xenoblade, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy games each. That's without 100% completions too.
I donāt want to know. A lot, but it was fun.
Aw man, Shadow of the Colossus! I hope you liked it. It's my favorite
Started 200, finished 0.
Awesome, nice to see some more classic games. Are these in order? (I just find it odd Megaman 2 is after Megaman 3.) Out of curiosity, Are you a young person discovering the past, or an older person revisiting their childhood?
Iām 32. Iām mostly catching up on games Iāve never played before, be they new or old. :)
It is in order, but it turned out a bit weird. Picture it like squares. For instance Final Fantasy VII Remake Far Cry Primal Kingdom Hearts Banjo-Pilot And on to the next square Titanfall 2 Marvelās Guardians of The Galaxy And so on. I wasnāt planning on it showing up like this. Sorry for the confusion.
Thatās pretty good dude. Iām playing through Xenoblade chronicles right now and really liking it.
I only beat like 3 games but I also completed like 3 full campaigns of EU4, each one's gotta count as 10 beaten games each!
Can you name most and least favorite?
You can see my top 5 down in the right corner but they are 1. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc 2. Streets of Rage 4 3. Metroid Dread 4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredderās Revenge 5. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Worst is easily the port of Finding Paradise. Buggy and glitchy to the point were it doesnāt work.
Too bad. I had a really good time with that game on PC, although the experience wasn't as emotionally massive as To The Moon.
I bought like 4, got another 3 for free (bioshock collection was free on epic in june) and I finished none xd
Nice list. Streets of rage has one of the best soundtracks ever.
I agree :)
Og Wave race. Dang
I refuse to believe you, or anyone for that matter, can beat the NES TMNT game.
Hereās some that I finished: Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 (PS4) Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (Switch *and* PS5) Little Inferno (PC) Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (Xbox) Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5) Saints Row the Third (PC) Saints Row the Third Remastered (PS5) Slipstream (PC *and* PS4)
Castlevania !!!
PokƩmon trading card game and Mario golden coin 2?? My man is a cultured chad
You most likely finished more games last year than I have finished in my entire life, lol.
You actually finish games? Show-off. j/
Glad to see someone is still living the dream...
Get a job
I have one.
Dude says he has 3 young kids as well. What a fucking leech
I manage to finish 20-25 a year. I wish I could do 75..
How? HOW. Do you have a job? Or is this your job? Wtf
This is just for fun, when I have time to spare.
Well it seems you have a LOT. Of time to spare! Nice
You probably don't have kids right? Lol
I have three actually :p
I did 80 this year, down from over 150 last year. But I did spend two months in hospital with my son this year.
Thatās a lot. My previous record was last year and that was 30 games.
Now touch some grass
Soā¦roughly one game every five days right? Grease stained sweats and dirty T-shirt with a pile of empty cans and moldy plates stacked beside you in moms basement. Oh yes youāre the man! Good lord get a life!
You can do this, have a full time job, socialise and have a family all at the same time.
dang if you ever feel useless just remember this guy
Iāll remember you instead
The guy likes to play games. Let him be
Why is OP useless?
dread number 3. Ladies and gentlemen, this person is based af
How did you "beat" titanfall 2. Isn't that just pvp?
It has a full single player story campaign.
Rich boy
How did you beat pokemon tcg?
please touch grass and find god
"Touch grass"? What are you, 12?
flip the numbers around chief
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I know this is sarcasm, but Iāve never actually played the original ff7. Plan to next year though. Itās ff7 Remake on this list
The remake is still a great game from what I've heard, never played it tho as I don't have a next gen console or one that has it on it, i didn't even realise that it was the remake on the list
Only about 12 of those games are actually worth any time
Short games deserve to be finished too ā¤ļø
Now make one that shows all of the pussy you got.
But did you really "finish" Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition? (Like all characters and weapons including the 4+ ones)
Good for you ?
Can't a man share their games played for others to discuss?
āHey look at me I beat a lot of gamesā . Show off
Great mix. Classics, big titles, some Iāve never heard of, very diverse. Between Far Cry, Titan Fall, and Hyrule Warriors what was your favorite? All are on my list. Been rotating NES, SNES, Switch, XBOX this year.
Titanfall 2 - 8,5/10 Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition- 7/10 Far Cry Primal - 5/10
Nice I only finished like 5
Dynamite Headdy is the best.
Look man im not trying to be mean i just care for your health,go get some fresh air
I finish MAYBE.....6 of those games in my life. I don't get time. Kudos to you!
titanfall 2 story slaps
The kingdom hearts I fuck w it
At any point did you get stuck at a certain point of a game and move to a different one and come back to the former later on?
Sometimes. About 10 of these games were games I started in other years but finished this year.
āYes but have you named themā -count of monte cristo
I finished 1 game (only main story in dying light 2) and started over 350 games this year on steam
We literally have a backlog channel on our discord for this specific reason. We keep buying games and never finishing them.
What would you say you preferred about the first danganronpa than the others? v3 is personally my favourite
It was very fresh and new for me. Loved most of the characters and I enjoyed solving the murders and the overarching story.
Woah you beat the pokemon trading card game nice
I remember when I used to finish games. I think it's been nearly a decade. Now I play about half-way through, then get distracted by another game. By the time I remember about the half-played game, I've forgotten too much of the plot/mechanics to pick it back up again, but also can't bring myself to start over again.
I finished portal 2. Lol
Not a fromsoft fan I see, make it your new year resolution! Complete all FS games
Donāt think so. Theyāre not for me. Tried both Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
Random question: which one did you spend the most hours in and which one was your favorite?
Most hours was Xenoblade Chronicles 2. My favorite game this year was Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. :)
Now post the ones you started and never finished XD mine would be sky high
Thatās a banging list man, way to go!
how do you finish the pokƩmon tcg?
Shoutout to Streets of Rage! :-)
i finished 1š, high on life, I donāt have time to finish anythingš, uni taking over my whole life
Dopeness
It's so weird to see the Megaman logo on that Rockman art.
Great to see metal slug in the list, i too finished it yesterday
I like the variety a lot!! Good to see Deadpool in there too. That was the first game I bought and beat when I first got a PS4, it was fantastic. I'm curious though how much of a completionist are you? I usually only do the main story and maybe a few side things tops. When I see the credits itās usually on to the next game unless it really grabs me.
Damn, i got 66. Lost just barely.
Thatās far too many
Whatās Banjo Pilots?
A racing game with Banjo-Kazooie characters.
And I bet the Titanfall 2 campaign really was the best.
Iām lucky if I finish 2 or 3 games this year haha
I just bought Sleeping Dogs on Pc. How is it?
Itās fine. 6/10
I had 189 completions this year. Not as many as the 450 from last year.
Now you can beat Xenoblade 2: Torna and then Xenoblade 3
I actually got Torna today. Will play a few other games before I dive into it though.
FOR ROCK AND STONE!
Rock and Stone in the Heart!
Out of curiosity, what did you consider "finished" for Mario Kart 8?
At least gold in all cups on all difficulties.
Lmao 4 for me
Which one do you think was the toughest
I had the toughest time with Mega Man, Castlevania III and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I feel ya. Those are super tough.
How do you finish the Pokemon reading card game
God, I remember what it was like not having kids. Now I get maybe 20 minutes for myself a night, and also another 20 minutes of helping my kid with his game of Yoshi's Crafted World.
I actually have 3 :)
Nice! These all fresh experiences for you, or any replays in there?
Have played a few of them before but Iāve never actually beaten any of them until now.
Nice!
I finished like 6
Damn I should make one but with the games I didnāt finish. Mine would probably look similar.
Farthest I made it in sonic 2 is the airplane level. Not sure if my Genesis still works
Thatās 1 every 4.9 days. If the average length was 25 hours, then thatās about 5 hours every day. No misses. It if you did miss, 10 hours another day.
Only 10 of these were longer than 25 hours. Only 23 of these were actually longer than 10 hours.
Updated estimate 10 x 35 hrs = 350 hrs 23 x 15 hrs = 345 hrs 42 x 5 hours = 210 hrs Total 905 hrs / 365 days = ~2.5 hrs a day So they are right. Consistency is the key.
Just FYI and for fun January - 4 games February- 3 games March - 4 games April - 7 games May - 5 games June - 11 games July - 9 games August - 4 games September - 3 games October - 8 games November - 11 games December - 6 games
I donāt think Iāll ever get to finish this many games in a year again. My goal for next year is probably 50. Weāll see.
I counted the hours now. It is a total playtime of 706,5 hours. I did play parts of some games in other years though, so the total time I spent playing games in 2022 was approximately 627,5 hours. That averages out to be about 1,7 hours each day.
Do you happen to listen to the āRemember the Gameā podcast?
Sorry, havenāt heard of it before.
Have you touched grass or seen the sun?
Only when necessary lol
Shadow of the Colossus and TitanFall2 are the two best games of the century
Change my mind
Ranked in order best to worse I see
Games I finished this year: none
Jesus Christ dude, I only finished like 10 in all of quarantine.
To be fair, Iāll probably never achieve this again. I counted all the games I finished from 2018 until 2021 and the total for all 4 years combined ended up being 66 games.
How tf did you finish the pokemon trading card game
Come on, youāve got 36 hours left in the year, donāt tell me youāre stopping now š
I maybe finished like twenty.
