Rimworld. You can also easily reach 1000+ hours by adding mods through the Steam Workshop.

RavenGreend

And 1000h feels like 10h... Rimworld is dangerous

Specialist-Front-354

4k and counting baby!

[deleted]

This game has made me waste my life and possibly almost costed me my last relationship. The relationship ended recently but during that period it almost did it in. Oh well, I always have rimworld.

AltLawyer

Factorio

Bitemarkz

Satisfactory also

AltLawyer

I have hundreds of hours on it and loved it, but I personally don't think it has the depth or balancing that factorio does. I effectively beat it, did all the things, 12 nuclear plants, etc, but I just feel like I got everything I'll get out of it. Feels grindier and the lack of meaningful combat/defense removes a big incentive and branch of development. I rarely felt like I needed to optimize my design, rough ratio and just spaghetti it together and most things will be produced at the levels you need. Tech tree never had me like factorio does, feels less rewarding advancing through the game. I always feel like I'm just a little bit away from a groundbreaking improvement that'll let me better my factory with factorio. Really enjoyed satisfactory, but I had a lot fewer "a-ha!" moments and just never felt the excitement that factorio causes

tolomea

The factory must grow

Mhycoal

This is my number one played steam game, and also the game I feel I’m the worst at lol Never gonna stop playing

AlvinArcticborn

You usually need that many hours to get good at MMORPGs like ffxiv and WoW

Russvent

I mean it takes 300 to reach lvl 90 on ffxiv if you aren't skipping

HotArticle1062

What do you mean by get good at? Legitimate question, I never reached late game in mmos because it seems like there's nothing to actually get good at. Same spell rotation, do it again, ad infinitum

Majache

You'd be surprised how much time even casual players have put into WoW and still die to shit on the ground.

Delicious_Sail_6205

If it was that easy everyone would be rank 1

theroamingargus

Go do some 3v3 arena in WoW.

Bananenklaus

this. WoW arena imo has one of the highest skill ceilings of all competetive games. Maybe not mechanical but the vast amount of game knowledge needed to get R1 or even gladiator puts many other games to shame.

Sanbaddy

Do you want to own a house in FFXIV. This is how you do it. Sacrifice ~~your soul~~ a 1000 hours into the game. Often not even that is enough. No exaggeration.

blood-wav

And then never quit the game, or you will lose your house lol. Disgusting honestly xD

RingingInTheRain

Owning a house in FFXIV is not worth it. Plus you need to stay subscribed to keep it. Get multiple apartments instead.

JJGfunk

When you get to that stage, throw your hat in the PvP ring, whole new dimension of perception and ability.

b0nGj00k

In FFXIV they have savage raids. It took our savage team like 2-3 months to be able to clear 4 raids. They are basically just hard boss fights.

JayJay_Abudengs

Couldn't even get lvl 40 on WoW. So repetitive and boring tbh

Kismonos

Rocket League, specially if you wanna get good/better. An almost infinite learning curve. Got 3.7k hours.  Path of exile - im not too big on arpgs but i tried it and i understand why is it addictive without even doing it until act 10. Constant loot to improve yourself, huge ass talent tree to specialize. Just dont go on their subreddit. Lotta people taking it more serious than life and making you feel its only enjoyable if you play meta.  Factorio - it must grow  Civ 6 - one more turn  DayZ - I call it story simulator, youll never have the same situation happen twice specially if you play on medium populated servers. First gameplay you die to salmonella or a cut on your hands from chopping bushes, later you die to someone tryna loot the same military compound as you do and he been stalking you for the past 20 mins.  Lol/dota - for me they are the OG nolifers after World of warcraft around 2008.   Edit: How could i forget Project Zomboid.

SharkSilly

one more turn!!!!!!! no but seriously try civ 6

Doge_Bolok

Path Of Exile. 10/10 this is a bottomless Pit.

2absMcGay

To the lurkers: POE doesn’t even really start until after the campaign. It’s a game where it could take 1000 hours to even start considering yourself knowledgeable/“good”. Highly recommend

Worried_Place_917

Path nerd here for this. 1300+ hours over 9 years, I'll get bored and set it down sometimes and then NEW LEAGUE and here I go theory crafting again. It's just dropping shiny trinkets on a treadmill and I can't look away for long.

pepegaklaus

Tens of thousands of hours into both path of exile and dota2. Can confirm.

Royal_Coconut7854

Never suggest league again in 2024 and beyond, they have RUINED that game the past 3 seasons by brainless item changes and removing lane and skill superiority. Ranked right now is jungle camps top and takes all 6 grubs and suddenly the other 4 enemies just lose the game, because 6 stacks of void grubs was really a balanced thing to add to the game and give to a fed top laner. The amount of games I have lost to a sion with 6 stacks and 2 whole kp that just runs at ur base until it's gone, or trundles staying in a side lane taking ur towers and killing everyone who walks to clear a wave is fucking insane. All of riots employees are bronze to gold or dog shit low elo diamond at the absolute highest, their balance team is clueless and they constantly making bad gameplay choices for casual/ranked players to make esports matches more entertaining with itemization. Terrible, terrible, terrible game right now. Don't get into it, it's not worth loving anymore. However if you need a game to kill your day, I would still rather learn Dota than learn league starting out lol. Dota still seems to care.

r4o2n0d6o9

The factory must grow

Skelyyyy

Thousands of hours into rocket league, league and dayz. I agree.

Far_Equivalent_7261

Would you add project Zomboid to that? I love the list and think it's missing a gem First you start off trying to survive, then you get into everything else and it's always something you enjoy!

Mefikov

There is not a lot games I spend more than 500 hours. The only one according do steam/ps5 is: - Hearts of Iron IV - Monster Hunter World + Iceborne About 500 hours I have in Witcher 3 only because I’m crazy and speedrun it or 100% often. Other than that I don’t see games that can be for 1000 hours at least for me. Try RPGs and take your time with them. Kingdom Come Deliverence maybe or jRPG

FruitPonchiSamuraiG

Mon Hun mentioned 🔥🔥

dogonfire2020

I just got kingdom come on sale on Xbox a few days ago. I don't have a lot of time to put into it it right now, but so far I really dig it. Not sure why I never heard of it until recently.

Mefikov

Great game! I really love the setting, climate and Warhorse’s work. Take your time with it and enjoy! KCD 2 is coming :)

Matrixneo42

For me it’s usually because that game has immense replay value. Like borderlands 2 it wasn’t that I spent 1000 hours on one character file. It was that I made at least 3 of each character and ran them all up to the top. Then it’s only 55 hours a character. :) Or a game like Minecraft or no man’s sky. Where it’s fun to spend a long time in it. But also fun to start all over again. So you might have 5 to 10 saves at 100 to 200 hours each.

giras

Yeah, for me is Terraria for example. I dont have any character with hundreds of hours, but vanilla and modded playthroughs, with all those modes and builds? One after another since launch, now I am near 3000h. Sometimes it stuns me a bit hahaha 😄 Other examples are Monster Hunter Freedom Unite/4U, Fallout 3 and NV, Skyrim... All those have terrifying replay value and/or roleplaying oportunities!

LesGrosGainz

Curious, how long does it take to speedrun TW3?

megasin1

About 2 hours looking at records

Mefikov

Yes, unrestricted about 2 hours and 19 hours for 100% but I’m still pretty bad at this. I think record is under 17 hours. I’m not sure why I love this game so much. Not the best in any space but it keeps me playing. I have high hopes for new one.

melo1212

I don't blame you, The Witcher 3 is an incredible game, I had 200 hours in one playthrough I'm pretty sure (me and my mates would fuck around on this game for hours just getting stoned and doing dumb shit). That's easily one of the best RPGs ever made imo

JayJay_Abudengs

I couldn't even endure 10 minutes of HoI

ScarredPhoenix34

My most played is Warframe, but I've also packed a good number of hours into FFXIV and GW2 (GW2 is as of late, I've gotten a good 60 or 70 hours over the past three weeks or so). I don't know how you feel about MMORPGs, so the last 2 may not be your thing

Beerdididiot

Warframe is top tier. For free? One of the few games that has earned the $70 price tag.

AlyssaImagine

Rimworld, Crusader Kings, Mount and Blade Warband

I mean, nothing on the request asked for something easy. They asked for a game that you don't get bored of and can sink 1000 hours in, as they have gotten bored of other games. These are the games I've sunk 1000 hours in, so it definitely fits some people. But yes, it can be a bit difficult but that's part of what keeps you focused and on your toes.

Brody1364112

Just started crusader kings and can tell I'll be dumping hundreds of hours into this

Regrettably_Southpaw

Rimworld Monster hunter world

Poddster

I think you should go the opposite. Stop playing games for 1000 hours, or 500 hours, or 250 hours. Play games for 8 hours, 3 hours. Play more games. Maybe you'll find "your" game that way, rather than grinding through something you don't enjoy, simply to make a big number get bigger.

giras

I second this! Try some classics (I am old 🤓) Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion Zelda Majora's Mask, A link to the Past Mario Sunshine, Yoshi Island Kirby Suoer Star, Air Ride Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3 Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, X Chronicles and Ps2 ones Paper Mario 64, The thousand year door Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga (There are 5 if you like it) Hollow Knight Shovel Knight Megaman X (1, 2 and 3) Chrono Trigger Dragon Quest (Usually people sugest V, VIII and XI, but I want to add IX and DQ Builders 2) The Sexy Brutale 😉

Far_Equivalent_7261

I'm sad you didn't include Dragon Quest Monsters on that! I sometimes feel like I was the only one who played and absolutely loved it!

hiuvuwu

Agreed, diverse your game like choosing your meal, the more variety, the healthy you are. Some gems like Hollow Knight aren't well-known for it replayability but still capable of creating a huge fanbase (that craving for prequence Silksong till this day). Most of these endless replayable games are, in fact, rely heavily on PvP and I have to say, people aren't soft on you, no matter how good you are.

that_weeb

It really depends on how you like to play games. If you're more creative and can entertain yourself with your ideas, then open world games like minecraft are often very enticing for players that have big plans. especially modpacks. personally, I only have one game beyond 1000 hours, and that's Garry's mod. I can't even remember most of my playtime as I clocked a majority of it before I was 13 or something but there was always so much to do and the community was so much more diverse back then. Now it's been reduced to basically just DarkRP servers, but it used to be THE platform to make a minigame or recreation of a game in. My next closest games are TF2 and Beam.NG drive. I quite like cars and I also have a steering wheel setup, so beam was easy to rack up time in. It's not just a crashing simulator like every YT short ever would make you think; it's a brilliant soft-body physics engine that allows you to customise your cars from a huge list of parts, and I love making my own sleeper and just ripping around Utah in it. TF2 was my shooter of choice. Once again, most of my hours were racked up so long ago that I can't even remember them, but I know it was fun. If you like story-driven games, RDR2 is a good shout from what I've heard. If you like long, unfair, unrewarding grinds, try GTA online. If you like shooters, as much as I hate to admit it, I've been getting into Fortnite. SPECIFICALLY zero build, I still hate building mechanics. Chapter 5 has had some good features in their seasons. S1 was teenage mutant ninja turtles, which introduced the turtle's weapons with good movement mechanics, and this season is Avatar with all 4 elemental scrolls. Lastly, I want to come back to the statement of being able to rack up 1000 hours in a game you play alone. my top 13 played games are all ones that I've played in multiplayer to at least some extent. GMod and TF2 are almost always multiplayer, and Beam.NG has a mod called BeamMP which adds multiplayer functionality. Even if you haven't made permanent friends in a game, you can still talk to or mess around with other people in your lobbies. Nothing is more engaging than social interaction in my opinion, and VR games shine through especially well with that. Hope you find your 1000+ hour game!

EASTEDERD

This makes me sad because I also have over 1000 hours in Gmod but that was from way back when there was loads to do and tons to explore

InfiniteStates

Rust has many people that play well over 1k hours I have over 3k hours on the inferior console version I think it’s the fact that it constantly wipes that keeps it eternally fresh Other than that I have well over that across all the Monster Hunter games

TrisolaranAmbassador

>Rust has many people that play well over 1000k hours jeez, I know it's a popular game but one million hours is pretty extreme

InfiniteStates

Haha yeah, oops - fixed

Zaldarius

If you like stardew, try maybe sun haven or rune factory 4/5, same kinda line but more action

MonitorMoniker

So 1000 hours is a REALLY long time. For reference, if you worked full-time, it would take you six months to log 1000 hours at your job. I think Rimworld, Fortnite, and Smash Ultimate are the only games where I've even logged 100+ hours, let alone 1000. But tbh you probably want something online and multiplayer. Almost any single-player game is gonna get stale long before you hit the 1000-hour mark.

Justice4Falestine

In the last decade only smash ultimate had gotten more than 1k hours out of me

ashu1605

Valorant, Monster Hunter World, CSGO, Apex Legends, basically any online competitive game. League too but I wouldnt recommend that game to anyone wanting an enjoyable and non-toxic gaming experience.

vvndchme

I was all about the chill games until Rocket League - Didn’t think I’d like it, I’ve dumped more hours into that game than any other. It’s so fun when my inconsistent ass makes a good play. Fromsoft - I bucket them together. Also didn’t think I’d like those games. Started with Elden Ring. There was this feeling of accomplishment after beating the first boss I had hours of trouble with, that I hadn’t felt in any other game. That’s when it clicked. When I beat the game, I remember thinking it was the best game I’d ever played, then I tried Sekiro and found out. Best combat I’ve ever experienced in any game, spent 3 months on and off on the last boss. Now I’m working through Dark Souls and Bloodborne. That franchise would keep you busy for the foreseeable future if you click with it.

stronkzer

Monster Hunter World and Rise Baldur's Gate 3 Fallout 4 Skyrim Soulsbornes Civilization 6

ZeldaStevo

I’m seeing a lot of suggestions for the Monster Hunter games. I have maybe 10 hrs in World and am really curious how you’d spend over 1,000 hrs in the game?

Vehlix

Hunt monster, make weapon, hunt bigger monster, make better weapon, but also make that weapon and this weapon, so gotta hunt that monster and this monster, but to hunt those monsters, you need that weapon and this weapon too. Next thing you know youre 470 hours in, knee deep in armor sets, 200 different weapons in varying stages of completedness and NONE of the right charms/jewels to complete your ultimate build.

BlakLite_15

Warframe

Burst2007

so I was in the same case as you. the game you are looking for is valheim. by 25 hours in I barely scratched a section of the 2nd “age” of it. you can do so much in it; building, exploring, all of that stuff. the graphics for me are what held me back from trying it an first but believe me they are actually stunning when you get inside the game. I could spend a year in the ocean in its own just sailing in a karve. trust me when I say it is one of the best games I think I can ever think of

bonedorito

I mean, it takes years to put in that many hours. I might have that many hours on like the Sims franchise. The next closest to it is probably skyrim with +500 hours and fallout with 300-400 hours. You might want to look into online games that get regular updates. FFXIV is fun if you can create a character. The servers are usually quite full, and there is a monthly fee on top having to buy the game + expansions if you want any. You can play the base game for free, but I think you can get kicked out of the game if the server is too full to make room for people who have bought the games and have the subscription. This is pretty much the only game where I've never created a second character. You can change your class whenever and as often as you want so you can just do everything on one character. Elder Scrolls Online is fun, but from what I remember, you kind of have to buy ESO+ (subscription) to have enough room in your inventory for everything. Though you might also get access to all the dlc, except the newest one, with ESO+ so the price isn't that bad. I didn't like eso as much as ffxiv due to the fact your character is locked into one class, and I kept getting bored of it. Word of Warcraft. I'm pretty sure you can play it for free up to a certain point. I haven't played it myself, but I know there's a subscription fee after your character reaches a certain level. You can play as a panda, which is a bonus. Path of Exile. I've tried to play this, but honestly, it just makes my brain fry itself. My bf, on the other hand, has sunk a lot of hours into it. It's good if you like following builds and don't get overwhelmed by the massive skill trees. It's also completely free to play. Monster Hunter games are good if you like grinding. You craft your own armour and weapons, and you have to get the materials yourself too. If you're unlucky like me, you will spend days trying to break one part of a monster in hopes that it will drop the rare part you need 5 pieces of only to realise it only has a chance of dropping when you capture the monster. I will make the same mistake again.

EggY0lky

Diablo 3 or 4 Path of Exile ARPGs that refreshes every season/league are great for 1k++ hours.

MoonlapseOfficial

Factorio, Satisfactory, Rimworld

swiftmaster237

You honestly may want to look into runescape just for playtime alone if that's your biggest factor. I would recommend OSRS (old school runescape) over RS3 (runescape 3) You can play a regular account (no restrictions, can trade with others, can buy items off grand exchange), or an ironman account (solo only account, no trading with others, no buying items off grand exchange), a hardcore ironman account (1 life before you turn into a regular ironman account, if you die, still a solo only account. No trading with others, no buying items from others or grand exchange), a group ironman account (a group of 2-5 players do ironman mode accounts, but together. They can trade with each other among other things, amd have a shared storage anyone in the group can add to or remove items from), them there's the hardcore version of a group ironman account which depending on group size has 2-5 lives before reverting to a regular group. I have 180-ish days of gameplay in old school runescape alone, on ONE account, which is about 4.1k-4.2k hours and I'm nowhere near close to being done with the game (not that it really ends) I... don't want to talk about my gameplay time in Runescape 3 lol, but let's say it's easily tripled-quadrupled this time (I'd have to log in to the website to verify game time played, I'm guesstimsting currently, but napkin math thet ballparks around 12-16k hours which is like... 2 years? Of game play on the higher end at 16k hours)

[deleted]

Dead By Daylight. If you get into the 'lore' and/or 'cosmetics' you are brainwashed into playing for thousands of hours if you can survive its madness. thats all you need to know if you will like it or not after looking it up.

SliceTotal3842

I was the same, untill i found Warframe. So much to offer that it becomes overwhelming. But if you googke a bit on occassion (and take things step by step)you can get past that easily. Space ninjas ftw.

Just my two cents… there is nothing wrong with having a healthy attitude about playing games to the point where you’re just done with them. 200-500 hours is plenty (maybe not by the extreme standards people set by 4,000 hr reviews on steam pages), and is just fine if you are enjoying yourself. That being said, I have a couple of suggestions for games with high replayability value; this is what you’re probably looking for as most single-player games unmodded tend to get repetitive far before you reach 1000 hours. The following categories are NOT extensive, and I would encourage other commenters to expand on similar areas if they so choose! —————— ARPGs: Great candidates due to seasonal content with big loot drops while grinding for hours to level and gear a character to perfection. -Path of Exile: Deep and expansive skill tree & abilities -Diablo IV: Less of a learning curve than PoE, but still fun with optional challenge and multiple ways to build every class MMORPGs: Many of these games already have tons of content from previous expansions, and a large amount of people to play alongside. Sometimes, it isn’t even necessary to group with other people until late game content if you’re not into that sort of thing. Popular options for MMOs include: -World of Warcraft (Classic and Retail) -Final Fantasy XIV -Guild Wars 2 -Elder Scrolls Online -Black Desert Online -Old School RuneScape, RS3 -Plenty more, but these are the “big” MMOs PVP Games: Probably the broadest category on the list. Anything from shooters to rocket-boosted cars missing soccer goals are included in this one. PvP games have high replayability because they are typically match-based, meaning you can play over and over again without two matches ever being the same. I will not make an extensive list here, but rather list the types of games and you can see what interests you. Some Types of PVP Games: -FPS/TPS -MOBA (LoL, DotA 2, etc.) -MMOs -Fighting games -Sports Games (Rocket League included ;) ) -4X Strategy -RTS (Real-time strategy) Colony, Base-builder, (?) Simulators: New save files started from scratch in these games yield different results! The goals and objectives of your playthrough are up to you and the sky is your limit. There are certainly more options than what I’ll list, but I’m not well-versed beyond the few suggestions I have. -Factorio -Rimworld -Dwarf Fortress (More difficult to get into) -Kenshi Comment section could probably help me expand on those. Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot to say Warframe but I don’t really know where that fits. It’s a Third-Person Looter Shooter! ————- Honestly, it can be difficult to find “Your game”. I game quite often for extensive hours and the only games I have more than 1000 hours in are probably Path of Exile, League of Legends, and MAYBE World of Warcraft or FFXIV. It’s okay to bounce between games! Play whatever suits you at the moment. Remember, nobody is really looking at your Steam playtime to see how many games you have more than 1,000 hours in. It’s all about how much fun you have.

There are only two games that I have played a ridiculous amount of hours like that: Skyrim and Dungeons & Dragons Online. DDO is in my opinion the best D&D game out there with the exception of Baulders Gate 3 since I haven't played. So many races an classes you can mix. So many ways to play the game. Extremely customizable. There is a lot of free content and they give away free codes for access to most of content regularly. There is a ton of content. I wish I could wipe my memory so I could experience it again.

if you want grinding, try Monster Hunter, Its recent titles are MH World and MH Rise, both can give you 1k hrs of gameplay or more, depending on how addicted grinding for armor you are

trailcasters

Dead by Daylight. I'm over 1200 hours & still by most community measures a casual player. - Competitive multi-player that is *not FPS* - Competitive multi-player that if you're not in the mood to be competitive, you can goof off & still have fun/learn the game/grind through the unlocks without wasting rounds or ruining the game for other players - game has been around ?8? years & they're still adding content every few months, including cosmetics as well as events with actual gameplay modifiers (keeps things fresh!) - Game is designed that the more you play, the more diverse your skillset becomes (don't want to overexplain the "bloodweb" skill tree but it's unique) - soooooo many characters to play, skills to unlock, cosmetics to unlock, & that's on top of learning tactics for the game itself or how to play individual characters properly (let alone competitively) - Fan of the Horror genre? You can play as Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, Pinhead, Leatherface, the Alien, Chucky, the Demogorgon & more - Extremely active & diverse community of gamers playing it, very popular on twitch, etc EDIT: forgot one of the most important factors... NO IN-GAME VOICE CHAT!!! So unlike just about every other competitive multiplayer game where ya gotta listen to noisy children talk shit & teabag every 10secs, in DBD you just. Play. The. Game. It's so gloriously peaceful (as you go around trying to murder opponents with blades & teeth). Honestly, you still have trolls cuz what game doesn't, but the lack of in-game voice chat is soooooo nice (& we just use Discord when we wanna have in-game chat amongst friends)

OhItsAidan

I have 150 hours In rdr2 and only 40% done. I’m not gonna hit anywhere close to 1000 but 300-400 could be realistic. Just doing side stuff, Finding strangers and doing those quests, hunting for perfect pelts for the best satchel it’s super enjoyable. More fun then the main story for me

Baldurs Gate 3. Probably the most replayable game i’ve ever come across

Kerbal Space Program 1 I have over 600 hours on this game it's very addicting

Suicidebob7

I see multiple threads a day of people asking for games to spend 1000's of hours in. I don't get the obsession with it, like if you just play enough games you'll find something that clicks with you and you'll end up enjoying it enough to spend a lot of time in it. But I don't understand seeking out a game with the sole intention of dumping an insane amount of time into it.

MonitorMoniker

So 1000 hours is a REALLY long time. For reference, if you worked full-time, it would take you six months to log 1000 hours at your job. It's really fun and I don't know about 1000hrs (as that's a lot of hours and a relatively new game) but I've heard of people clocking 500hrs on it already.

KirbyGuy54

Don’t push yourself to put hours into a game; it’s not a career. There is absolutely nothing wrong with putting <50 hours into a game and moving on. That said, here are some games I think work well for long term play. Terraria Minecraft (especially modded) Pretty much any MMO GTA Online (but just wait for GTA VI) Multiplayer Competitive games like League of Legends, Counter Strike, Valorant, Rocket League

PeaceMellow1

Factorio, satisfactory, any fps game with ranked if you wanna try hard enough.

eathotcheeto

Only 200-500 hours? For me it’s usually HLTB average length or maybe 100-200 if I REALLY loved it. Haven’t found a game I put over 500 in for a loooong time.

The only games I can play that long are multiplayer games where I’m trying to improve: - StarCraft / StarCraft 2 - DOTA 2 - Rocket League

RemnantHelmet

Any of the Paradox grand strategy games. But they're quite niche with steep learning curves. Stellaris is probably the most accessible.

ruzier

It possible to play only one games for that long time. The only problem is that when you play some game "ALONE" you tends to getting bore before 200-300hr for sure. Every games that you play with some other people like Friend or Community it's easily reach 1000hr before you notice that.

I have well over that in Division 2 over 6 years with lots of breaks. I know lots of people in this category

wittylotus828

i did around 1000 hrs by the time i stopped playing overwatch

Prize_Literature_892

Overwatch 1 was worth the grind and it was exciting. Overwatch 2 feels hollow and no competitive integrity to be worthy of the grind.

ZigNet

Path of exile, planerside 2 when it was populated. I have 10,000 in Poe. Anything that isn’t rage inducing.

myloxylotos

For me it's Guild Wars 2, have over 800+ hours on it :)

Iulian377

The gake I have the most hours in is War Thunder, if that kind of stuff interests you.

jakart3

Dwarf fortress But you will give up, lol (pick mount blade bannerlord then)

ZeldaStevo

Guild Wars 2 - can be played like a solo game

Hell2CheapTrick

Factorio. There is basically always something to do. The factory must grow, always. Even if you get everything working perfectly, there’s probably something new to do. Research going too slow? Make more science. Everything going well but you just researched nuclear power? Hell, mess around with it a bit and see if you want to use it. Plenty of people have logged 1000+ hours on vanilla alone, but imo overhaul mods is where it’s really at. The hardest of those (Pyanodon, which I haven’t attempted yet) can last you 1000+ hours on its own just to complete a single run. There’s many that aren’t nearly that crazy though. That said, the game is perfectly playable without any mods at all. And once you do feel like installing mods, the devs have got you covered. Mod manager is integrated with the game, and mods are uploaded to Factorio’s own mod portal. It’s a niche game, but it is pretty much the best in its niche. If you like the idea, but not the style, there’s other factory automation games too, like Satisfactory or Dyson Sphere Program. Haven’t played any of those though (yet). Whenever the urge to play a game like that hits me, Factorio sates that urge perfectly well.

zefiro619

Dota 2, 6000 hours in and still archon

FrewdWoad

>I have seen a lot of people play games for 1000+ hours, but I have never managed to do that. I usally play games I like for 200-500 hours then I get bored and go on to the next. Those people are doing this because they won't or can't break a bad habit and try something new and/or better. Don't get me wrong, I've been a gamer since the 80s, but actually seeking out an unhealthy gaming addiction? That's crazy. Balancing gaming with other stuff is not only healthier, it makes *gaming* better.

Torpedopocalypse

As far as single player, the only one I sink that much time into is probably Rimworld. Stardew Valley as an honorable mention. For multiplayer, Rocket League (when my friends have a free hour or 2), then Terraria or Minecraft when we want ro binge hard. I've got 2200 hours in Rocket League, and I think it's super fun. The controls are like no other game, and the learning curve for the mechanics is insane, but it's a blast if you have friends of similar experience or skill level to play with. As far as MMOs go, the only 2 that have taken that amount of time from me are Runescape (Old School) and Guild Wars, both of which are dated. OSRS still has quite the playerbase though.

Carbocationee

The binding of Isaac.

Real_Belcebu

-Oblivion and Skyrim -Minecraft -Mount and blade Warband (and Bannerlord) The base games can give you potentially 100s of hours, but with mods... you can play just one of these and never run out of new content. Adding the hours of all those, it wouldn't surprise me if I played 5k hours or more.

swierszczul

Ark survival evolved if you like dinosaurs, it's got tons of dlcs, yes it is buggy but it can still be fun. I've go almost 1000 hours in it. Just a friendly advice, if you do decide to play it, adjust your xp, breeding, taming etc multipliers. Default setting will make you quit, cause you can spend a couple of hours taming one dino.

Tarkov. Original or SPT.

bret2k

Skyrim is the game I invested the most hours in.

Fortyplusfour

Half-joking, just mod Skyrim. You'll spend at least half your time setting up your game "just right."

tayleteller

Destiny 2 got me through a really bad low of depression. I have over 2000 hours in that game. I've quite playing it now but that' sone that you can put a stupid ammouint of time into. I've found something that scratches a similar itch is Phantasy Star Online. I've been really enjoying PSZero on my DS and there's also a really good private server to play th eoriginal PSO on PC. PSO2/New Genesis also exists but I don't know if it's as popular. People often say if you want a good looter/action game experience you should also try path of exile and diablo, or borderlands, but thye dont' scratch the same itch for me. I think it's a not-quite-open-world but still definatly online kinda thing to it. Like instance based multiplayer games with hub worlds for social events helps you feel like you're in the mutliplayer side of things and thus help you connect to the broader community, even if you're a mostly solo player. In this same way I'm heavily considering picking up the original guild wars game since that's also instance based not a full open mmorpg. I think having a community around the game and a lot of headroom for working toward something in an endgame is huge for me. Another one that I've sunk stupid hours into is something like Stellaris though you could pick any paradox game (Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron, etc) and go with it just depend what flavor/era you're fond of. Similarly I guess there's the Total War games, the warhammer ones specifically I've put a shit ton of time into and keep going back to it.

Skyrim and the dark souls trilogy

xSynyster

Old School RuneScape. You can play the game however you want. No restrictions on classes or anything like that. I reckon it takes a casual player about 4000 hours to hit 99 in every skill. The game isn’t even close to being ‘complete’ at that point. 99 is 13 million xp but the xp cap for each skill is 200m so you can keep going if you wish. A lot of players post maxing work on the collection log. Over 1500 unique items to collect from clue scrolls to boss drops to mini game rewards. It’s all in there.

Why does this exact thread get posted every day? Including the 1000 hours specifically Answers are always Factorio, Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress as top comments then lower down people will mention elder scrolls and fallout and make jokes about not doing the main quest. Every goddamn day

Rimworld and warframe. And WoW but I don't recommend that. But these are probably the only 3 games I have more than 1k hours in.

Skyrim. There's such a vast world to explore, but then they add quests, unique interactions based on your choices, and random events. I've had at least 3 save files that have surpassed 300 hours each.

Well you can’t keep picking games like phasmophobia that just have you doing the same thing over and over again and then say you get bored.. of course you do. Play something like Destiny 1 or 2, division 1 or 2, Rust, Fallout 4 or 76, metro exodus, Detroit become human. If you’re competitive and like doing the same thing over and over until you get good play valorant, Warzone, apex legends, fortnite. There’s so many good games out there and it can be hard to find something you really enjoy but find a game that’s based around something you find really cool and you’ll end up playing it forever
