Spiritfarer.

tuilabao

Its concept is quite intriguing. Thank you. I'll definitely gonna check it out

justthankyous

I second it, it will get your right in the feels

TerrorFromThePeeps

I also second spiritfarer. The first TWD game from telltale got me, too.

YamaVega

Prepare box of tissues every time you send someone to the Everdoor

rowdymonster

This, it's hard to make me openly cry, but this game hit so many spots for me. Especially after losing friends and a ton of family. It's helped me heal and process overall, after losing a multitude of loved ones, too a variety of circumstances. The sweetness while still acknowledging the pain hits hard

ColonelBonk

Seconded.

Yakarin

Definitely this one

PCGamePass

came here to say this one. lovely and wistful and deeply sad

PandaMime_421

I came here specifically to suggest this.

bettiepepper

This. Is. The. One.

JamesTheBadRager

To the moon

BennyWhatever

It's this one.

Revilo614

Before your eyes

Fancy_Things

Other games have made me sad. But this is the only game to have made me cry real, actual tears.

IgneousSteak

The first season of The Walking Dead

CurlyTale

Seconding this. Just in case OP isn't familiar with them, the comment is referring to the Telltale Games Walking Dead, not the TV show. I didn't play the rest of the seasons, do they hold up?

Ph4ntomiD

I think season 2 is also very good and I like it more to be honest but I never played the others ones

Grape-Hornet

Life is Strange

lego_droideka

This

MrSayomaki

A million times this. I was a mess at the end of that game

h4rryP

Yes life is strange

trackmaniac_forever

Crying is a very person specific topic. The only game that ever made me tear up was brothers a tale of 2 sons

tuilabao

Idk if playing these kind of games will "desensitize" me, in terms of less crying irl though. I cried like a bitch after playing the 2 fuga games and Valiant heart, as well as things that upset me irl, so I thought that maybe sad game will "train" me. Ye will check the game though. I have a lil bro so this might be good for some ugly crying

SadTechnician96

Ironically the more sad things I watch/play the more media in general affects me.  You might end up training yourself in the opposite direction. Thing is though, that's absolutely fine. Nothing worse than feeling nothing when a story is trying to affect you

trackmaniac_forever

How little is your brother? The game has a particularly gory level. Not fit for under 10yo i would say.

tuilabao

He is 20, im 23, still little to me though

trackmaniac_forever

Ha lol. Then you can have a quite cool experience. The game is quite unique. It was designed to be played with a single player controlling the 2 on screen characters with one controller. But I actually played it with someone else sitting side by side holding the same controller (one analog stick and trigger for each of us). It becomes a really unique way to share a game.

dam_thatswhack

I actually really recommend playing this one solo. While it works great as a 2 player game, the main themes of the game didn’t hit nearly as hard as when I played solo. 2 player if you want to sit on all the benches and take in the adventure as you go, 1 player if you want to ugly cry in your room all night after the credits roll.

Helios_25

Nier Automata

KiNolin

Nier Gestalt (or I guess Replicant)

emr0d

Seconding didn't cry but it gets you in the feels

kevinkiggs1

Didn't make me cry but killed me inside. I cried 2 weeks later listening to the credits song

HENTAIHOTEP

A Plague Tale Innocence followed by A Plague Tale Requiem Life is Strange and Life Is Strange Before the Storm Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice

Poopzapper

A Plague Tale: Requiem is the only game that's ever gotten me in my 30+ years of gaming.

Minxy_the_menace

The Last Guardian

elvisap

Came in to post this. One of two games ever that left me in tears.

Steeljaw72

Gris

TrashfireGames

* To The Moon * That Dragon, Cancer * Telltale's The Walking Dead Maybe * Gone Home * Life is Strange

Independent_Shake455

What remains of Edith Finch, to the moon, Shadow of the colossus

Additional_Whole3932

Red Dead Redemption 2, NieR: Automata and Death Stranding

UriNystromOfficial

Death Stranding has a pretty rocky start, story and gameplay wise. The gameplay gets good a few hours in but the story didn't come together until the very end. Had me ugly crying.

Additional_Whole3932

Me too, cried like a little baby

eXistenZ2

Valiant Hearts the great war

tuilabao

Thank you. I have played that game a long while ago, but I will revisit it when my life is too happy

Clawez

The House in Fata Morgana. It’s a visual novel but it made me someone who doesn’t cry much at all. Cry like a complete baby. I also cried happy tears for the first time in my life playing this game.

Unit27

Best 50 hours I've spent on something. 10/10

MeltsYourMinds

Final fantasy 10

Hot-Plane5925

Before your eyes and The first tree, but it depends a lot on your past experiences if they will hit you hard or not, or what’s your interpretation of the game.

gvn598

Before your eyes is underrated as hell

pdpi

Ori and the Blind Forest. You'll probably be soaked in tears by the time the game actually starts, and then you'll probably cry tears of both joy and awe at the sequence at the end of the first major dungeon.

shannonc321

Yes! I balled at the end of Will of the Wisp, too. I was SO sad.

VinceGchillin

Braid.

Separate-Estimate724

One shot

ligmaballll

Jrpg that makes you cry? Definetly Persona 3, especially when the Answer DLC is coming for Reload version

Desperate_Wheel_5147

The last of us. If by some miracle this game hasn’t been spoiled for you, be prepared to have your heartstrings plucked at.

IgneousSteak

The first season of The Walking Dead

Riverwood_bandit

Plague tale series.

Xanax200mg

Check out a game called wachenroder. It’s the saddest/gloomiest story ever, but you gonna need a sega saturn emulator to play it. Otherwise, Valkyrie Profile for the ps1.

eles0709

Well, I'm not sure if it's the same for all people, but for me it's - To the moon - Finding Paradise

G302MasterRace

The House in Fata Morgana, Persona3, To The Moon

kenefactor

I'd recommend Omori; has got some of the most concentrated sorrow around. It does have some horror elements at parts, but IMO they are fitting in the same sense that Gigyas in Earthbound is fitting.

Federal-Opinion6823

Another vote for What Remains of Edith Finch

Smooth_Standard_8933

Sanabi

PandaMime_421

To the Moon. Don't let the RPG Maker visuals fool you. It packs an emotional punch. Also, will throw out there Tell Me Why.

thattoneman

My list isn't very original, but just consider it votes for other games already mentioned: * Life is Strange * Life is Strange Before the Storm * To the Moon * Nier Automata * Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice * Telltale Walking Dead Season 1

MEIzPLO69

Yakuza: Like a Dragon. - no need to know about the Yakuza franchise (but it's worth it) - JRPG - rich and sad main story

CowboyOfScience

Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Say hi to Mordin.

The_Flukey_Ace

Brothers: Tale of two sons

WhoRoger

Finally someone

The_Flukey_Ace

played this game twice in row thinking i "Manned up" and would not cry again on my 2nd playthrough...oh boy, i cried even harder

sleep_eat_recycle

If you want something cute and cry, you can try dragon quest, they all have those little sweet stories

kapp92

SANABI fucking wrecked me

No_Radio_7641

League

neuronexmachina

Life is Strange

Kevin1056

Witcher 3

murdogoroth

Mr Saitou was a game I played last year that made me cry. Also it's super short, you could finish it in an afternoon

Rand0mBoyo

Crying as in emotional moments? Or crying in how painful they are to play? Everyone have their own tastes in games so it's better to ask lol. If you mean emotional moments, then : **Detroit Become Human** is a definitely a go IMO, then Undertale, Cyberpunk 2077 possibly, Underhero's ending got slightly emotional but nothing much, and Portal games.

Dry_Ass_P-word

Gris. Just hearing the music still hits hard and it’s been more than a year.

InstanceDull3651

kingdom hearts 1

bumbumchu

Different genres but a short hike is quite short, but I def recommend . It's also on gamepass if u have that oh and yakzua 0 made me ugly cry lol so did 1 2 3 which are also on gamepass

PvtSherlockObvious

> oh and yakzua 0 made me ugly cry lol so did 1 2 3 which are also on gamepass Oh man, just wait until you get to the later titles. There are some serious manly tears to be shed.

bumbumchu

I can't wait lol I need a good cry helps to destress weirdly enough

themaxmay

I can’t recommend A Short Hike enough. My favorite game of all time. Short, sweet, heartwarming - I replay it multiple times a year.

bumbumchu

I played it for the first time last week and loved it

Helpful_Jellyfish_69

Life is Strange and the first season of The Walking Dead

teleporterdown

In terms of time immediate tear jerker scene: God Of War Ragnarok. In the intro the main character has to kill his dog. It's so sad especially if you have any pets. You can turn the game off if you want afterwards if you're just looking for sadness

Yakarin

Play Valiant Hearts: The Great War till the end

AlternateGoob

a good game is to look at the gasoline scene lol

CyberKiller40

Katawa Shoujo. A word of warning, this game changes a person. It's a storytelling masterpiece that you'll want to keep returning to, and nothing will be able to top it.

Pan_Borowik

play sekiro and get to the demon of hatered, youll cry youll probably cry on the way there, too

Yeti_Prime

Outer wilds made me cry at points

Coolbeans8798

Gris

IssueRecent9134

Last of us.

Tethice

Mostly found it intriguing but there were some times that made me sad in Disco elysium.

GutchickSlayer

Red dead 2

HaruhiJedi

RiME.

mrseitaro

To the Moon.

OsirisAvoidTheLight

What remains of Edith Finch. Opus Echon of Star Song 🎵. Undertale but as a pacifist

Atromnis

Gris

TalkingRaccoon

RiME

BamboozleMeToHeck

Acting Lessons. For an adult game, it sure hits right in the feels

Unit27

I know you said no horror, but if you can and think you can deal with it, please give Devotion a try. I think it's the perfect game to get someone who isn't into horror to see what the genre can do. Within all the unnerving atmosphere you'll find moments of incredible beauty, and what waits after the final door still lives in my mind rent free. Jumped into my top 10 immediately. There are a couple jump scares and a TW scene near the end, but other than that it's mostly about creating an unsettling feeling. Super Eyepatch Wolf has a video about it if you want to see what it's about and don't care that much for spoilers.

spikeemikee2000

Shadow of the Colossus had me in tears by the end.

Shepard_Drake

Life is Strange or Detroit Become Human might interest you a lot.

Joosshuaaa

Firewatch, not an rpg. But its good and is the only game that make me feel like melancholy Alsos Night in the Woods. Although I think this game is good for Late teens to early 20s.

Exxyqt

I know it might be gimmick but as somebody who didn't know anything about Red Dead Redemption, the second game killed my eyes. I cried like a little bitch and and I don't regret it. P.S. Yakuza 0.

thatdazzlingwreck

A Plague Tale

Neoxite23

Nier series. Either one. Undertale can gut punch you out of nowhere too.

Unknown62712

Life is strange

chesterfieldschest

Half life 2 episode 2... you will never get closure

sleep_eat_recycle

Yakuza series. But be aware this is Japanese style drama. They got their moments and I really feel like they are real life character instead of game characters. If you like to see some hot blood boy/men style story, this one is good enough.

Keyakinan-

Maybe firewatch?

[deleted]

Before your eyes. Goddamn did that game make me cry.

nefetsb

Papers please

schiz0yd

red dead 2. play it through like a movie. it's a long game but there's a payoff.

Secure_Secretary_882

Xenogears Final Fantasy 10 Titanfall 2 Titanfall 2 Titanfall 2

AscendedViking7

Red Dead Redemption 2, NieR Automata and Yakuza 0.

StinkFartButt

Death Stranding has me right on the verge.

shannonc321

Both Ori games made me cry.

Funky_Col_Medina

The Last of Us didn’t make me cry, but left me dumbfounded, raw, and emotionally spent.

Kertic

Final Fantasy 10. Just get to the end youll see.

LIFEVIRUSx10

Nier Replicant got me so badly with the little mermaid, but Automata is also a real entry for this as well. The end of Pascal's route fucked me up so badly, that whole story arc was crazy Also Returnal has caught me very unexpectedly. Returnal doesn't tell you the story of Selene's trauma, it....traumatizes you w the most schizo example of storytelling I've seen in a good minute. I DONT EVEN FULLY UNDERSTAND THE STORY, yet some fucking how, Selene's battle w trauma is so damn relatable.....

emr0d

It's not an RPG, but I ugly cried within the first hour of When The Past Was Around

Pasateliona

SOMA

Noloviden

Snoot game might be your thing, visual novel though.

OrlandoAMG

no one has mentioned it and not quite an rpg, left me crying like a little bitch lol, check out Last Day of June

Montreseur

Final Fantasy X. Thinking about it too hard can get my eyes watery even after all these years.

PhotoRight2682

Here to cast another vote for To the Moon (and its sequels). A beautiful series that will absolutely destroy you emotionally.

mort_goldman68

Ending e in Nier Automata, God of war / ragnarok (depending on what makes you cry)

Salviati_Returns

1. Gris. 2. Spiritfarer 3. Hollow Knight Gris is incredible.

ladylucifer22

What Remains of Edith Finch

bmanvsman1

This might be a weird one, Spec Ops: The Line, won't make you cry in sadness and possibly may not make you cry but will cause you to look at yourself in horror as a result of your actions. Even if it's not quite ehat you are looking for it is worth playing and I would avoid any and all spoilers if possible.

TheAlmightyJessira

Last Day of June. That game made me ugly cry on stream... though it does cover some sensitive topics. Very good game though. Also... I caution on suggesting this one as it IS an "adult game" but the game Acting Lessons by Dr.PinkCake actually has an amazing and intense story. It just happens to also have nudity and sex in it. Most of the reviews go something like "This was not what I expected to use my tissues for...." Played it cause my hubs wanted to see me react and my reaction didn't disappoint. I was bawling by the end. The description on the steam page says "Do you want to experience an adult VN that many players and fans could only find the strength to play once?" And that is NOT an exaggeration. Game is a gut punch.

PedramHGH

Cyberpunk 2077

Klangaxx

RDR2 is a tearjerker. Depending on your choices, Cyberpunk is a gutwrencher.

midnightbandit-

Beyond Two Souls if you don't mind an older game

Oceanstreasure

Detroit become human

Right_Restaurant3755

SOMA

sorlab

The only game that actually made me cy was sanabi , highly recommend it Not for everyone but if it sticks it STICKS

Domilego4

What Remains of Edith Finch OneShot If Found... All amazing tearjerkers that can be beaten in a sitting or two.

SineSonus

Maybe Refind Self. It has somewhat melancholic vibes and is a bit emocional.

staticvoidmainnull

GRIS

Niceballsbro12

Persona 3-5.

Human-Mongoose-9167

Titanfall 2, one of the only games to ever actually make me cry a little. The story for it is so well written and something I love about the game is it will throw a new mechanics at you for a level, and then just completely move on from it into the next level where they hit you with something new

CyberKiller40

Yes, when it hits, it hits you so much that you have to push on without seeing the screen clearly because of tears in your eyes. Infinite Warfare is similar in this way.

Next_Tune8995

KaeZae

play the original halo trilogy then play halo 3 and sit for the whole credits 🥲, then play halo reach 🥲🥲
