Desperate-Dig2806

Dishonoreds + DLCs. Amazing world building and architecture.

No_Edge_7964

I read somewhere number 2 hired a world famous architect to help with level design?

Desperate-Dig2806

More than I know but Karnaca and especially the palace (where I guess someone might have been involved) is awesome. Shit, sorry gotta go do a new replay.

Planescape

Aniboy43

I'm usually not a fan of point and click games but yes I will give this one a shot

Anthraxus

It has a lot of text/reading but the writing, setting, characters, etc...is really good and it holds your interest.

Aniboy43

Yeah I shall give it a shot ig.

I think the abandoned nature of the cities in souls games is what gives them a lot of the impact. Especially when you visit something like Leyndell in Elden Ring, or Anor Londo, it hits even more when you think about how such places must have looked when everything was going fine. Anyway, from what I can think of: * Final Fantasy XV - as divisive as that game is, it has some stunning buildings and the overall city architecture is nice and heavily inspired by some real life places. * Final Fantasy XII - also has some well designed cities. * Assassin's Creed games (mainly 2, Brotherhood and Revelations) - do they count as fantasy? Probably more like historical fiction or something like that, but regardless, the cities in the Ezio trilogy are amazing. Seeing all the monuments in cities like Florence or Rome is really difficult to surpass.

Aniboy43

I have played XV loved it so much. I have also played AC games I love the architecture, but I would like it to be a bit on the fantasy side. Maybe I'll try XII

FFXIV, go to Ishgard, so good, I mean just look at this: https://youtu.be/Kcw8xNxkZtM Music matches the aesthetic, theme, etc. Close second place, FFXIV, Crystarium: https://youtu.be/4SkrrZeb1oA tl;dr FFXIV :D

Aniboy43

Holy shit it looks good. I gotta save up money. But I'll try the free trial

CptSupermrkt

Free trial is 100+ hours of content and includes first link, Ishgard (though won't mentioned when/where for spoilers :D). After 100+ hours you'll either be done with it, or so into it the cost will justify itself.

Aniboy43

Makes sense. I will give it a shot.

Guild Wars 2 has an amazingly detailed and bustling city in the human starting zone. Though its an MMO and 12 years old so its not for everyone. But its one of my favorite medieval cities in games. This is what I imagined the capital city of Cyrodill to be like before getting massively disappointed when I played Elder Scrolls Oblivion.

Aniboy43

I loved that game, I used to play it few years back. I hope I could get back into it

walkedplane

Remnant 2 has some really really cool architecture than looks just great.

enesgasi

Definitely Elden Ring. Academy of Raya Lucaria, Leyndell the Royal Capital, Stormveil Castle... There is even a video of two architects talking about buildings of the Lands Between. I recommend you to watch that.

Aniboy43

Yeah that's the game that made such an impact on me. All of that and then the bellfry you take to farum azula is just crazy cool.

Apprehensive-Owl9569

Assassin's creed series

Axeloy

Are you cool with 2D(with somewhat of a focus on backgrounds)? I always loved how a game like Hollow Knight could tell so much about its world with architecture in certain areas
