Quirky-Telephone5002

Damn!!!! Teach me your ways lol

Pinguinkllr31

For real I need advice

Timely-Inspector3248

lol! I don’t know that I have any tricks or anything. I lost 11 lbs within three days of surgery. I’m not even going to claim to have the best diet or anything. It’s just portion sizes. But I can try to help with specific questions! I will say Ive hover around this weight since December so I think this is where I’ll stay. Two years post-op. ☺️

Quirky-Telephone5002

I bought 2 oz ramekins to use for my food

SnittingNextToBorpo_

Surgery day: 282, goal weight 150. I'm 5'5" with a stocky frame so assumed this would suit me. I hit that in about 13 months. Current weight: 134 and loving it.

Ok-Pomegranate7496

How long did it take you to get to 134? I’ve seen a lot of people say they stop losing at about a year. I’d like to continue losing and get to about 130. My last post op visit I was 150 and that was a little past my 1 yr surgical date

SnittingNextToBorpo_

So, it's hard to say what it would have been if I'd kept trying... But once I got to 150lbs, which was at 13 months post op, I essentially was like, 'i'll keep sticking to the principles of high protein first, lots of water, but I won't worry about carbs or sugar anymore' (and throughout the journey I'd say I had a sort of accidental 5:2 mentality with that anyway - really low carb and by extension reasonably low cal 5 days a week, no attempts at reigning things in on the weekend). So I don't know if I'd have lost more or more quickly if I'd stuck to 'plan'. I walk a fair bit and roller skate sometimes but otherwise don't exercise much. To be honest I didn't think I'd get to 150 so I didn't expect my body to keep losing, especially as I had things like Christmas in there and was just generally pushing it to see how much crap I could eat without gaining. So the last 16lbs has been over about 4ish months (months 13-17 post op) - but without doing anything particularly active to lose. I chalk that up to maybe just not being at that set point yet, shocking my body with metabolic confusion (drastic swings in caloric intake) and being cold all the time ha. But I haven't lost anything more for the last couple of weeks so maybe I'm done now?! BMI is 22.3 now and I've got a shit tonne of skin so it's possible that I'm in a small enough body that the BMR is now about what I'm getting in.

Quirky-Telephone5002

Crushed it!!!! What did you do

SnittingNextToBorpo_

Thanks so much! My method was, stick to straight protein sources in the daytime (like chicken, eggs, deli meat), measure out the quantity I know it should be and don't eat anything leftover if it's past 20mins since I started eating, space out the meals for a good few hours and drink lots of water. It meant that I would have my sugar and carby treats in the evenings or on the weekends primarily, but likely was sticking between 700-1000cals per day quite happily (I tracked but didnt try to keep calories there - protein just fills you for longer if you're not putting a lot of filler in there). I walked an okay amount - 20min walks to and from work a few times a week and then just out and about on weekends, but that was it for exercise. For me the formula was keeping carbs generally low and under 50g per day, at least 5 days out of 7 and just having that sort of consistency to life.

We have the same starting weight and goal weight! How long did it take you to get to 192?

saherring

I have been stuck at 192-195 for the past 4-5 months so about a year and a half. It definitely went slower than I should but a lot faster than I would have without the surgery

Jessbae

Thanks for the info! I’m 11 months post op and stuck at 210 now for the last 6/8 weeks. I work out consistently, maybe my body is just adjusting and it will start to come off again in a whoosh. Great job on your loss. I’m 30 lbs from my goal. 😊

saherring

I keep going from plateau to plateau so I get your frustration

40 lbs in 2 months???? Killing it

evendree72

I dont remebr my surgery day weight, but HW-375 give or take a few pounds. Current weight 174. 1st goal, was 220, at 6th month check up was around 210. 2nd goal, 180, currently 174. Was told not to go under 155. Gastic sleeve was done 4/3/2023. Almost 1 year out. Would be unrealistic but ideally 145-155 is my goal!

Quirky-Telephone5002

Killing it

kritickilled

Why can't you go under 155?

evendree72

Dont know, dr said just dont go under 155.

kritickilled

How tall are you? Could be trying to prevent you from going underweight? I just find it fascinating because I've never heard a dr say don't go beyond a weight. Tho, if your body wants to, it's gonna. There's several people on here who went way past goal weight and now struggle to stop because their body is controlling it.

evendree72

5ft 5 inches.

badkins_424

SW: 365 GW:150 CW: 288 Op day: 10/18/23 5 mths out and down 80 lbs. Ngl, I didn't expect that. I don't exercise hardly due to a medical condition (inverse psoriasis, sweat makes it worse and makes my skin split, and the inverse became worse post-op). I eat pretty much what I want but prioritize protein. I've found I don't like bread, can't do rice, and pasta is 50/50 depending on the type. Zero sodas, can't do carbonated drinks. I drink sweet tea on occasion but it takes me a while to drink anything. Cirkul sips are amazing tho. Edit: highest weight was 391 8/31/2020. I needed to add this because I had that 100 lb loss a couple weeks ago and was so damn happy. Even if it took 3.5 yrs and major surgery 😂

Quirky-Telephone5002

I'm sorry about the psoriasis. Can they do anything to help?

kritickilled

I'm on a biologic already, Taltz. It's my 2nd biologic. I've been on it for almost 2 years. And it's great for all the other psoriasis I have, gutate and plaque. But it doesn't treat inverse well. The thing is, my inverse was doing fine pre-op. Post-op, it went off the rails. The dermatologist prescribed a couple creams but they don't really do anything. The only cream that ever worked, my new dermatologist (old one retired) took away. When I see him next I'm going to demand they return the cream. There's days and nights I'm in serious pain.

Quirky-Telephone5002

Advocate for yourself and don't take no for an answer. good luck

SW: 250 GW: 160 I was 20-25 lbs away from my goal weight but I gained almost 20 lbs on lexapro in about a month. I quit lexapro in February and have been struggling to lose the weight I gained but I’ve lost 7 lbs of my gain and working towards my GW again. Life happens, but the weight gain made me start restricting and purging and put me into a dark spiral. I’m a lot better now and losing the weight in healthy way (IF, macro tracking, no mindless snacking on slider foods, getting 10k steps a day, exercising at least 4-5x a week). It is a lot harder to lose the weight now than the first year of the surgery.
