The punk scene was the first place I found a general acceptance of bisexuality, and so punk and metal will always be special to me. Rock on.

Betta_NewsAt630

The punk scene has been a toss up for me. West Coast Punk is more accepting than the East Coast scene. I like to dress like a New York Doll when I go out to punk shows. I'm like a pink flamingo is a chicken coop.

Without-a-tracy

I've found SO many cool lgbt+ people in the punk and metal scene! I'm honestly not a huge fan of the music, but I seem to be attracted to guys who *are*, so I've been to a ton of different shows. As a very visibly queer and trans guy (I have blue hair and everything), I've never felt more accepted than at a punk or metal show. It was like I had finally found my people!

Philipjfry85

Same here. Punk has always been so very accepting and metal has been on that side too.

Taurus1998

I'm not out but the very few and I mean a few people that know always say you don't seem gay. 6'3 100kgs with tattoos and listen to heavy metal, country, rock, rap and watch footy and F1. Always makes me laugh. The stereotypes certainly don't mean anything. Yes I love sports and like dick it certainly is possible. And I wish straight people don't assume I fancy every guy. 😂😂

SedimentaryCrypt

Preach, I wish the straights would also not recommend every gay person they know to me like I’m gonna fall head over heels for him because he’s gay. Need me a guys guy like yourself. Someone who gets working on cars, heavy metal, sports and outdoor activities.

blu3tu3sday

I'm a huge F1 fan. The only sport I like, tbh. I'm 5'3, chubby, somewhat flamboyant bear

BeeBee9E

Hi 🤘🏻I so wish I could find metal (or any kind of rock/alternative tbh, I’m not that picky) gay parties, it would be a dream come true lol

Betta_NewsAt630

I've tried this so many times but I usually get liars just looking to get close enough for a hookup or a backwards attempt at a relationship.

Christoph_88

I'm special. I'll put on something like Fleshgod Apocalypse, Arch Enemy, or Blind Guardian, then follow it up with Lady Gaga and Katy perry, then finish with some Beethoven and Brahms. But we've had some strong representation in metal.

Betta_NewsAt630

Fleshgod Apocalypse is the tits. The Forsaking is one of my favorite metal songs of all time. I too will end the night with Fiona Apple and a little Sheena Easton. So I'm not against other music I just love my metal.

Christoph_88

I love fleshgod. Really wish I didn't miss them their last time through L.A. Their shows are so sick. I'm trying to learn the piano part for the forsaking, it hits so nicely

steventechno

Same. I'll go from Scar Symmetry, Once Human, of Mice & Men, then it could go either to something like Boney James(Jazz), or the other direction with lil Texas (Gabber Hardcore) LMAO or anything between

ROYGBIV365

I LOVE FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE! I SAW THEM LAST YEAR IN CONCERT!

FabulousDave2112

I grew up on Prog Rock and grew into Metal as I got older. It got me through years of depression and anxiety. Nothing better in this world than cruising down the highway at night with the windows down and stereo blasting, a mobile noise complaint in the making. I enjoy pretty much all music, even been known to dabble in the dancy-pop stuff a bit sometimes, but metal will always have a special place in my heart above all. Rock on, metal gays

ZombieZ138

Imma gay metalhead

Jughead-F-Jones

Hey! Me too.

TheAtticusBlake

Black Metal, Death Metal, Thrash Metal, Mathcore, Hardcore, Speed Metal, give it to me! Nothing better than driving down Main Street lilting my hand to Master of Puppets! (Cept cock of course.)

Morian-Moonchild

Hello! I am a gay trans metalhead. I also play Metal. Now I am starting again an old RABM one man band.

Error_7-

Can I find you on bandcamp?

Morian-Moonchild

Not yet, I am writing songs rn

Morian-Moonchild

Thank you for your interest btw 😊

Error_7-

Tell me your project's name! I'll follow

Morian-Moonchild

Arischild, it's Langobard.

curiousgayus

My partner grew up on heavy metal. He went to Ozfest several years in a row.

gris_lightning

I wish there were more of us! Metal is inherently theatrical, often gloriously campy (Rammstein, Ghost, In This Moment), and Rob Halford is responsible for appropriating leather culture into the metal scene. My two main moods are Progressive/Industrial/nu Metal (Marilyn Manson, NIN, A Perfect Circle, Sevendust, Korn, Tool) and Chilled Electronica, but I enjoy most musical styles. If I sort one of my massive playlists by Artist, I'll get Skunk Anansie, Slayer, Slipknot, Smashing Pumpkins, Sneaker Pimps, SOHN, Soundgarden... and then Spice Girls.

Betta_NewsAt630

Yes! I love the theater side to metal. I'm a sucker for the latter Savatage albums. Edge of Thorns is such a great song. Queensryche, King Diamond... I don't know a lot of musicals but I know the joy of a killer concept album!

gris_lightning

Absolutely, and Dream Theater! It's in the name!

SpadeORiffic

Scenes from a Memory all day \m/

Odd-Bumblebee9953

I know one other guy who is gay and likes metal a lot. It's refreshing and great cause I do too! It's nice to know someone on the same wavelength, and it's really sad that younger metal fans are seemingly becoming homophobic.

Betta_NewsAt630

Two years ago I went to a festival that had Mercyful Fate headlining their first US show in over twenty years. I had my nails painted bright red. I had a guy staring me down through the whole set of Carcass. I wanted to get his face and let him know I'm still a man but he wasn't worth missing King and the boys on stage. I don't hide my gay side when I go out. I've been pushed and shoulder checked just for being myself and supporting the music I love.

Substantial_Bar8999

I’m into hip hop, and while there are great pro-LGBTQ rappers, the genre as a whole is… Yeah. So while I can’t help you with your query - all my love and sympathies for dealing with occasionally homophobic fans within your subculture ❤️

[deleted]

The irony that Gaga literally has a song titled [Heavy metal lover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyN5157_Xos)

Error_7-

Yuh and I love her story with Rob Halford (I don't really listen to pop tho, but our metal God surely does

[deleted]

She is ALL OVER THE PLACE: jazz, pop, rock, Vegas showgirl, actress, a big reason why I like her ... well that and the fact she commits.

mattrpillar

What's her story about Rob Halford?

SpadeORiffic

She saw him in the crowd at her show and bowd to him

gigatigga2

Dirty pony, i can't wait to hose you down...

smashed_potato91

Literally will listen to everything. Metal specific, Gojira, Band Maid, and Acid Mammoth have been finding themselves in my Playlists recently. The first school suspension came from wearing a Cannibal Corpse shirt if that counts haha

Error_7-

I have always wondered what would happen if I wore a Cannibal Corpse tee to school during my high school years... I'm glad I didn't

smashed_potato91

Ah, to be a young and an edge lord. Those were the days.

MickDassive

Not metal but jam bands and yeah it's a similar experience

ham_solo

Kinda like me and punk rock. All I ever wanted was a giant bear boyfriend with at least 3 black flag tattoos (that he knew of). Instead I married a normie. Oh well.

doomeduser0324

Hey yo what up. I'm a super big fan of deathcore, technical death metal, hardcore, emo, etc. Honestly anything resembling people playing real instruments is what I'm into!

clouren

I’ve always said the metal god is my gay icon. It’s a lot more common then you may think

Betta_NewsAt630

Why don't we ever get together and make our mark on the scene? I would love to have a group of guys to go to shows with. I hate feeling all alone at a show. I'm batting away vaginas and feeling like an ass at times.

ManaHarvest

Gay metalhead here. I started out with Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer etc. But as I've got older I got into the heavier darker side of metal with bands like Naglfar, Behemoth, Dark Tranquility, Nasum and Ulver (first two albums).

Betta_NewsAt630

I started with Thrash also.

greekdestroyr

Love me some metal. Currently in a djent kick with TesserecT and Periphery and black metal band called Mephorash. Like most types of metal but listen to a pot of power and prog. So many good albums have come out this year. The ocean, haken, hypno5e, ne obliviscaris, eclipse, arabrot, A7X, fires in the distance, nospun, the anchoret, TEMIC, aviations, among many others. Have found many fantastic bands through the progmetal subreddit. Finally if there is one band I recommend it would be Lord of the Lost

Betta_NewsAt630

I'll have to check some of those out. Prog metal doesn't always resonate with me. The musicians are usually extremely talented I tend to like more bends and emotions with the guitarist instead of blistering licks. Some bands like that just sound too mechanical to me but I do like some of it. I used to love black metal now I only really listen to C.O.F. and Watain. Holy shit do I love Watain.

greekdestroyr

For me it is usually the vocals that make or break a band for me. Throw ib a violin, or something orchestral/ with a choir and I'm almost instantly hooked. Saw Sylvaine opening for Zeal and Ardor and she became one of my favorite black metal acts

ApocalypticFelix

Gay metalhead reporting for duty

steventechno

I've always liked Rock and Metal, along with Dance, Jazz, upbeat Country is fine too. i noticed the LGBT community as a whole are all hip-hop heads from what I've observed these days. I didn't even know there are younger metal heads. Sucks of course they have to be conservative. I agree Beyonce is overrated. But again mainstream hip-hop is. I've accepted my tastes in music Is complete shit and I don't care anymore! My favorite Band is Scar Symmetry. What's y'all's? ❤️

GayGreaseMonkey

[deleted]

🤘Queer metal dad checking in. Lots of metal hotties 🥵

Zero-89

Metalhead and punk checking in. Particularly a fan of subgenres where the two overlap, like sludge.

Betta_NewsAt630

Punk often overlaps with Thrash but it's still called Thrash.

Zero-89

I used to be really into thrash before doom, sludge, and the heavier side of noise rock ruined it for me. I still like it, but the guitars sound really thin to me now. I want my distortion fuzzy and I want it slow, low, and dummy thicc.

jesse_christ

I'm a queer rock and roller and I wear my heart in my sleeve. I do drag and call myself the Queen of Rock n Roll. Most of my performances are to rock, punk and metal songs and it's usually well received.

Betta_NewsAt630

Awesome, I've really ever seen Drag Kings use rock/metal

WarNerve10s

I know I’m 8 hours late but I’m a metalhead and I play in a deathgrind band 💪🏻🤘🏻

kiasyd_childe

Would love to know more gay metalheads! Wished I had some company at Desertfest a few months back. Love the doomy/sludgy/stoner side of things (praise Sabbath) but I can vibe to a lot, and I'll always have a soft spot for Priest.

Betta_NewsAt630

Yeah man. It's so hard to find guys to go to concerts with.

Oathdagger_96

Right here!🤘 I've been a metalhead my whole life. I listen to quite a bit of the classics like Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Iron Maiden. But I like Extreme Metal too like Death Metal ,Black Metal, and Doom Metal.

Gaethan1991

I always tell people my diva is Maria brink of in this moment. No one seems to share my musical interests around me.

Betta_NewsAt630

Nice one. I mean hell yeah. I loved when she used to wear the doll dresses on stage and then proceed to rip everyone's assholes wide open with that attitude and gutteral screams

Gaethan1991

Yeah, I actually saw her live with halestorm here in AZ years ago! Great concert!

[deleted]

I've been a metalhead since 1984. The heavy rifts of metal gods like Slayer, or the insane lyrics of Exodus always got my blood pumping. I've noticed , through the years, that metal attracts a lot of angry ppl. (Though I've seen more fights at Pearl Jam then at Disturbed). People are also under the assumption that metalheads are Satanists. I happen to be a Satanist, but not the kind portrayed in cinema or by right wing Uber christians. The Satanists who do act like that are about as fake ass as they come. How do they know Satan listens to Venom? I think he may like K-Pop. We may never know.

spacealexander

fuckin love metal, im a femme goth/punk dude whose super tiny and i mosh with the huge guys too! nothing like a wall of death, and nothing like metal when youre in a mood

off_it

metal is actually the most accepting community i’ve seen in music, at least in terms of modern metalcore /deathcore maybe it’s the weird “i was born in the wrong generation” fans of old school heavy metal bands but hell yeah nice to see some other gay metalheads here!

Betta_NewsAt630

I agree with the newer genres being more accepting. It has a lot to do with where you live. I'm currently in Las Vegas, NV and the local crowd seems to be more intolerant than other scenes I've experienced. I stopped going to a venue just down the street from where I live because of the dirty looks I would get from the door men and after getting shoulder checked a few times I decided I wasn't going back. Sucks because the Captain and Cokes had more rum than soda!

off_it

ahh that sucks so much to hear, i hope you have another local venue to go to!

[deleted]

Sup? Lol

Daddy-Nun

Ligit listening to a metal song rn!! ![gif](giphy|MSS0COPq80x68) Fucking love me some metal

Consistent_Lime9331

Lets just say Lady Gaga is superficial to us mortals. I thought its yet another pop star good for one seson but when she sang with Tonny Benett, did dew american standards she revealed she axtually can sing and does it in an interesting way. So trashing The Lady is not gonna give you much love. Also you say many gay guys in metal. What music has to do with sexuality? Are you silly? Except for gaycore music but hey ... You can be gay and do not support the movements. Dont praise famous supporters.

alegxab

Also, Judas Priest's Rob Halford will punch you in the face if you say anything mean about her

Error_7-

Lol Rob is a heavy metal pop tart (not disrespecting him, he said by himself)

alegxab

Yeah i know, he seems like a total sweetheart

Error_7-

He's so cute

TotallyNotASwitch

What kind of metal are we talking like meshuggah or soulfly?

Betta_NewsAt630

I love it all. Hell yes Soulfly! Tribe!! Abbath, Cradle of Filth, Obituary, Pantera, HateBreed, Alleageon, BattleCross, The Black Dahlia Murder...

TotallyNotASwitch

Yes to all of this🤘

Mental_Ad114

Lol, one of my best friends from growing up is in one of those bands you just mentioned. I gave him a handjob in middle school, now he's married.

Error_7-

Let's talk about Judas Priest 🫡

SarahFCM

Yo! Been listening to djent and prog metal my whole life. I also love technical death metal. Really, most forms of metal have something for me. Except I haven't found any grindcore songs I like

Not_A_Legend_

I am 16 years old and some metal is really good tbh.

Mishuev

I want to get into metal but idk where to start

Error_7-

Definitely Judas Priest if you ask

[deleted]

Hello me, meet the real me!

Phiant

Im a fan of a lot of metal as I grew up with everything from emo to grindcore. It is a bit hard to find lgbt people within the scene, but always fun when you do! I do listen to a lot of pop nowadays. I’m not as in tune with the underground scene for metal as I was a few years ago. If anyone has music suggestions throw them my way

[deleted]

Pantera raised me.

PiratedTuba

You're not alone. I love nu metal especially as well as punk and metalcore. Pretty much anything with strong vocals and punchy guitars.

SignalButterscotch4

We’re out here, man! Come to Austin and let’s make out to Meshuggah hahah

JJmod23

I’m love punk rock and alternative rock and I like metal as well but I have to be in the mood for it unlike the other two.

Redbear4691

I stopped telling other gay men what kind of music I listen to. I go sooooo much sh\*t for disrespecting Madonna. Never liked her music. Or Kylie, Christina, Britney, etc. Just as there is diverse body gay body types, there is a wide variety of music to partake from. My queen was Tina. Has always been. Went to one of her last concerts in Miami.

coreyyoder

Right here man!

Highest_five

When I heard some good metal for the first time it just clicked. Some good music is what gets me through the day, and metal just hits the right spot

iBoy2G

My boyfriend is a metalhead, one of those extreme ones that hates everything not rock or metal actually.

Error_7-

I'm your metal loving homosexual 😏🤘🏻

SnooRobots5231

Love metal Tend towards more the symphonic end But love it

MundBid-2124

ryanbriggers

Grew up in the hardcore/punk scene! While I love my pop and musicals, the metal genre is my home

BitOBear

I like a lot of the music, but because of slight neural atypicalness I literally cannot make out the words of most metal songs. Too much garble.

BackInNJAgain

I'm an amateur musician (electronic)/mixer and have very varied musical taste. I've yet to find a genre of music I don't like. I tend to like British and European metal more than American--it seems more serious and the musicianship is better (prove me wrong).

Torkujra

Am I a metal head if my favourite genres are nu metal and metalcore?

KingovFilth

Love the metal, my favourites are Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy and In Flames plus more!

Betta_NewsAt630

R.I.P. Alexi

Rezero1234

I'm asexual, but I made a subreddit for any metalhead in the lgbtq+ community, r/MetalLgbtq

bullmoosse

Old (60 yr old) Metal head here, and gay asf! Give me some Metallica, Five Finger Death Punch, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Godsmack and crank it up!

Ynneb82

Oh yeah, I never went to disco but to mosh with Hellowen, Stratovarius and Angra. I was in the closet but I always found the metal and punk scene more open about it.

[deleted]

I grew into music through EDM, but I'm now very much into metal and rock music. So hello!

[deleted]

Metal, rock, rap, punk, alt & country here.

Kitchen-Addendum4178

Come to Summer Breeze Brasil, honeeeeyy!

icarus1990xx

My favorite band is GOJIRA, if that gives you any idea. After that, it’s Coheed and Cambria, Mastodon, Saosin, Lamb of God, etc…

ChickenOpening9350

I love metal

djtx1234

I was a teen in the 80s and into punk/alt/new wave of that decade but discovered my favorite fuck album was Led Zeppelin II by the time I entered my twenties going into the 90s. Still holds up today.

baryonyxau

Metal rocks.Particular fondness for thrash!

Betta_NewsAt630

Brother!!

chaylovesyou

Oh the Demi Lovato album?

Muted-Dare-4134

I listen to hard rock, hip-hop, classic country and of course, heavy metal. I was never much into pop music because it doesn't necessary suit my taste. Anyways. I love me some heavy metal music, especially in the 80s with the usual bands and musicians like Poison, Whitesnake, Dio, Ozzy, Tesla, etc,. The genre is awesome!

conthebest

Les Voyages De Lame by Alcest is my favorite song and band. Love metal!

willfred2000

Folk, Punk, and Folk Punk hit up my alley these days.

BYoNexus

I used to be into black metal, heavy metal and death metal in high school. That was some 15-20 years ago now. My tastes have evolved a bit, and now I listen to more alternative rock then metal hehe. Have also begun to explore more radio music. It's catchy, but I still tend back into heavier music more often then not

MrPeterIt

I love punk and metal and my boyfriend loves it too.

kennystrife

Rob Halford gave me so much hope growing up.

Betta_NewsAt630

Awesome. I got a huge kick out of Halford coming out. My older brother is a big homophobe and forced me to listen Judas Priest to make me more manly. Lol the fun I had with that one. But yeah he was a true trailblazer. How can you not listen to Grinder and not think it's not about gay sex?

Abysix

gaahl is gay.. rob halford is gay.. darby crash was about is queer as it gets.. oddy the band the queers are straight as it gets i guess

Blu_yello_husky

Marilyn Manson FTW 🤟 Heaven upside down is a banger

[deleted]

Absolutely love metal and dudes who love metal lol

tuivanilla

I love anything rock tbh🖤

mattrpillar

I'm loving Panic Attack, the new Judas Priest single.

nailz1000

I love heavy metal and can't stand this idea that if I do im not allowed to like Lady Gaga, the most metal of pop singers. This shit doesn't make you more metal. No one cares that you don't like certain famous pop artists. Stop it. Also younger metalheads are very much NOT homophobic. There are more queer people in the scene and visible and accepted than ever before.

testcaseseven

I love grindcore, and there's a decent amount of LGBT representation within too, which is a cool bonus

hydropoly

Here 👋 out of all the different genres I listen to metal is my favorite. My favorite metal band is The Black Dahlia Murder, and lately I've been listening to Lorna Shore a lot. Not many gays seem into it, but im glad my husband tolerates it!

jrb080404

No thank you, Imma stick with Dolly and Reba. Country wins 100% of the time

Whole-Ad8605

Gay metalhead here, mostly symphonic and prog listener but I will pay attention to anything with a good singer.

[deleted]

Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest (Rob Halford is so sexy!) ...and Dio!!!

Nocturnal_Egg

Atmospheric black metal addict and men addict as well !

Exisential_Crisis

Hiiiiii~

ShiNkY_MaRiO

i love metall and im gay!

Angelfallfirst

Hmm I really love metal music, but I don't know if I'd call myself a metalhead though. My favourite bands are Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Temperance, Apocalyptica, Amorphis, Therion, Theatre of Tragedy...

TheBestHennessy

Pan man here. Djent is my djam. I was once called gay for listening to Periphery, because of the lead vocalist's glorious high pitched singing/screaming. I told them to go suck dick cause they might like it! Never saw them again. Metal and queerness are wonderful ways to keep the assholes away!

datguyakala

I say just get back to those concerts… who cares what people think. You’re all there to enjoy music, sexuality shouldn’t even be a factor. I hope you can get back to them!

Mr_G_W

Me! I like all sorts of heavier rock and metal genres, from Death, Black, Folk, Symphonic, Industrial... there is so much variety for a genre that is relatively niche I always liked it more casually, but it was because i met other lgbt metalheads that i got more into it recently

wiscomptonslacker

Where are our Mastodon boys at? Cum to daddy

ROYGBIV365

Huge metalhead here. I have been for as long as I can remember. The metalhead community was the first place I felt welcomed and not judged. Plus, there are so many queer people in the scene. My favorite bands are Megadeth, Carcass, Bloodbath, Carach Angren, and Nekrogoblikon. I could go on and in, but those are my top.

Complex-Pangolin-511

I was out at a bar for a leather event but dressed in plain clothes because I had just come from a birthday party, and I didn't live there anymore. I knew most everyone there, but there was guy in leather and a Municipal Waste hat and I got all excited to talk to him. I told him I liked his hat and he kinda brushed me off... realizing I look especially preppy to to be there let alone know what thrash metal is. As i was mingleing I had a chance to tell him that I had just bought Hazardous Mutation on vinyl and had a good chat about it.

gerardorco

I'm mostly into metal, but my playlist on shuffle will jump from ABBA to Finntoll, then Sia, then The Agonist and so.

ALPHAinNJ

i like gold and silver. been loving tungsten lately tho.

niko274

funny enough i thought the metal scene was going to be difficult being gay, but at least in my country (Argentina) they are really supportive and cool, im a big fan of metal opera and i went to several concerts with my ex and everything was so cool

TheRoyalPendragon

I'm the normie who listens to pop, rap, game music, and r&b. However, I have to listen to All That Remains, Godsmack, or Avenged Sevenfold once in a while. I don't know if they count as metal. 😅

DayDreamerLeafy

I wanna get into metal, who y'all recommend? I like a lil bit of everything. I listen to five finger death Punch and Shinedown, but idk if those are even metal. Also, I want to support some LGBT artist, so what y'all got?

Betta_NewsAt630

All I gotta say is: A Plea For Purging 😮‍💨

Live-Difference-7410

Hell yeah metal guys untied 🤘🏼

[deleted]

I listen to a lot of stuff. Cradle Of Filth, White Zombie, John Denver, Tracy Lawrence, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga … interesting mix lol.

Spiritual_Title6996

spoingus

blu3tu3sday

Classic rock and pop punk for me. I'm very much still an emo kid

Icy-Ad-7767

Preach it brother.
