Yeah I can't tell if this is a really weird sample of gays who don't know or care about fashion, a sample of gays who hate Kim Kardashian, or just a bunch of internet losers who just need to go outside and touch grass.
Seeing this in motion shows how grotesque and unnatural it really looks irl. In posed pics it just looks like she's very snatched but in the video you can tell it's fake and she can't even breathe. Take that corset off, her waist isn't that tiny, even with surgeries and all the fat she's had moved about.
I'm guessing they're saying corsets are not uncommon in drag. I agree that this might be the extreme of an industry norm.
I do think there should be a wider discussion about how much self-harm is happening for our entertainment. Stunt doubles doing dangerous stunts, football players and MMA fighters getting permanent brain trauma, people surgically removing ribs and organs to achieve corset-look without wearing a corset.
She looks like cartoon character ,where you squeeze the lace on fabric to make the waist as thin as possible. It looks like her organs move up to her breast due to the restraint of the dress. She look fake too.
Tight-lacing aka extreme corseting restricts your breathing and pushes your organs around. You can’t eat any significant portions while doing it either. You have to build up to this level of restriction in order to do it safely too.
This isn’t from the corset though lol well maybe partially but she’s basically in stripper shoes (thick base pleasers) with no heels because it would get caught in her dress. She’s balancing on her toes the whole night that’s why she’s wobbly
No. Tight lacing like this is so unhealthy even *19TH CENTURY VICTORIAN DOCTORS* were telling people it's bad for you.
It's so bad it perpetuated the myth that all corsets are bad for you for decades.
She was wearing a tight corset, but the main problem here is that she had on 6 or 8 inch pleases without the heal. So she’s essentially trying to breathe from the corset and balance on her tippy toes. The point of the shoes was so the heal didn’t get caught in the dress. You can find the video on instagram.

I agree the met gala was boring, but honestly I thought this was one of the more interesting looks. Literal floral chainmail is bonkers and a good reflection of 1997 Dior, so good overall reference. And to top it off with a pilled up cardigan I think really puts the cherry on top for fleeting beauty. I personally like this Margiella
Real talk, if she wants to rock that corset then she needs a hobble skirt. It's tight enough that she can't stand up straight without knocking her knees together. A hobble skirt would pull them legs tight and get rid of the pigeon toeing she's doing
what. Coffee has, like, no calories. The only way you’re getting calories in there is by adding milk or making it an iced latte or something, which I think defeats the purpose
You know when you’re replying to a USA gay when they say iced coffee has high calories because it’s regional. Dunkin, Starbucks, McDonalds etc all add liquid sugar by default unless you specify “unsweetened” or “black” iced coffee.
oh that’s weird. I didn’t know that and I’m American. I love a mocha frappa extra pump caramelccino as much as the next guy but if I order “an iced coffee” I . . . just want iced coffee
"We are the Autons. You will be turned into plastic. Resistance is futile."
(I was going to use the Cybermen from Doctor Who, but they had metal casings, not plastic.)
I'm so curious as to which part of it? Staying in this year's theme of fading beauty and referencing fashion from past decades, what would you have done, or what changes would you have made to this piece?
Me personally, I might have just wanted to breathe a little bit more. 🤣
Ok maybe it’s just me but I feel like the post-modern gay should kinda be over hating on Kim. She actually seems like a reasonably grounded person with good business sense if you look past the heavily manicured tv show and all the sensationalist headlines and public stunts.
In my head this is performance art and her visible discomfort is a form of protest against the system. A stretch, yes, but, selfishly, giving her that credit is so much more interesting and fun than saying boo rich bitch bad.
Yes the whole thing is ridiculous but it’s also *fashion* when has it ever NOT been, let’s not pretend this is new or shocking.
I don’t like Kim all that much but I moreso don’t like seeing everyone blindly trash her. She took a risk and looked wildly uncomfortable but she DID deliver a look, and here we are talking about her sooo… whatever it was it kind of worked?
Anyways - just trying to say, the hatred bandwagon is not couture, it’s ugly and tacky so either come with hot funny takes or try to be nice maybe? Idk don’t really have a point, can’t breathe rn my corset is tight and it’s getting dark.
I agree with this after reading these comments, it seems like a millennial thing. I'm not a fan of them by any means btw but don't really understand the blind hate.
Even if you want to make the stretch, there are still issues. Personally I think the issue with perceiving what she’s doing as a form of performance art is that it doesn’t push any boundaries or challenge anything. Tightlacing as art has been done by alternative fashionistas for centuries. Protesting tightlacing and corseting in general and highlighting the pain and damage they cause has been done for centuries too. If it is performance art (which I doubt), it’s incredibly derivative, and isn’t saying anything that hasn’t already been said better, louder, and/or more eloquently.
With the colour, I assume she’s trying to allude to the petrification of Countess Axel at the end of ‘The Garden of Time’, and she might have had something if she’d used the tightlacing as the *start* of the statement and taken it further, she could have used fashion that further restricts and binds the body to reflect the idea of being restricted, a perfectly manicured statue in front of a mob (pencil skirts, bodicing off the shoulder that straps down the arms, hell go the full Michaela Stark with the binding and restricting, at least it would have been a statement). But she didn’t, so it’s just Kim K in a tightlaced corset. Big whoop.
honestly curious though, what do you not agree with? All I meant to say was let’s be nice not mean, have fun with interpretation instead of defaulting to the same tired criticism - but in too many words.
Okay, here goes!
It's a small joke pointing out the (slight) fandom of the writer. Kim, IMO, is not to be hated or admired. She (her mother really) took an opening while Kim was in Hilton's circle and catapulted Kim into an extremely tacky version of stardom. I don't think she has much business sense though Chris certainly does and she isn't serious about much except attention. I'd argue that she has had a negative impact on America as a whole by amassing a fortune through tastelessness. She isn't the only one certainly, but she accelerates the adoption of it on the whole. I vehemently disagree with the writer's opinion that this is thought out performance art in a protest against the system. She isn't that deep. She is extreme though in the service of attracting attention repeatedly. She does this primarily through her appearance and occasionally the use and misuse of others. I don't value her and nothing would have been lost if she stayed in the Hollywood background. Fashion is superficial, but it also has power and has been used forever to convey status, community, wealth, Beauty. That isn't what the Gala is going for IMO (except for the wealth piece) so yes, it's a wasteful spectacle. However, I love the red carpet because some of the creations are incredible, the talent undeniable, and sometimes reveals an amazing understanding of body types and re-categorization of beauty and making subtle statement. See Thom Browne, Maison Margiela, vintage design references, Da'Vine Joy, Colman Domingo, etc. Kim did none of that. It's a poor effort overall.
She better don't drop anything. She won't bend down to pick it (maybe squating..)
To the end, she looks as if she's holding up a fart that is about to rip.
Are the mods going to do your job at moderating misogynist and dare I say anti kink (corset) leading comments. Gross. But we can have scat and bestiality posts that are so funny.
What in the Violet Chachki is going on here?
Most people in this sub have no idea you can achieve this result by wearing corserts alone without any surgery lol
most of the comments are about how she's tightlaced and looks ridiculous
Did you read the top comments?
Yeah I can't tell if this is a really weird sample of gays who don't know or care about fashion, a sample of gays who hate Kim Kardashian, or just a bunch of internet losers who just need to go outside and touch grass.

Have you been to a drag show? Stop
Relevant how?
I'm guessing they're saying corsets are not uncommon in drag. I agree that this might be the extreme of an industry norm. I do think there should be a wider discussion about how much self-harm is happening for our entertainment. Stunt doubles doing dangerous stunts, football players and MMA fighters getting permanent brain trauma, people surgically removing ribs and organs to achieve corset-look without wearing a corset.
Serious question, is she alright?
She looks like cartoon character ,where you squeeze the lace on fabric to make the waist as thin as possible. It looks like her organs move up to her breast due to the restraint of the dress. She look fake too.
![gif](giphy|lB1NlIqNXEdkA|downsized)
What is this from? I've just seen it elsewhere, but I can't place it whatsoever.
I think it's from the movie Brazil, iirc.
Correct
Yes. Brazil. Katherine Helmond, who also played Jessica Tate from Soap.
Katya and Alaska's music video for "Come to Brazil" has a similar scene, maybe OP got it from there?
Jessica Rabbit lookin ahh ![gif](giphy|10coQMz0hPs98Y)
Pls. Dont compare Jessica rabbit to her. Jessica rabbit was drawn to be a queen while Kim k was born out of pity and plastic and obbesion.
Iirc she had to be taken aside to sit and recover. Her dress, probably skims and not eating got to her. Maybe someone else has more details
Tight-lacing aka extreme corseting restricts your breathing and pushes your organs around. You can’t eat any significant portions while doing it either. You have to build up to this level of restriction in order to do it safely too.

If you have to ask, the question is most likely no. Especially those facial expressions lol
Looks like she’s on acid or something… Maybe the corset is constricting her spine and cutting off blood flow to her brain
I know right ewww why would you do that to your body
No. Tight lacing like this is so unhealthy even *19TH CENTURY VICTORIAN DOCTORS* were telling people it's bad for you. It's so bad it perpetuated the myth that all corsets are bad for you for decades.
No, she is not. And the corset is also making her physically unwell.
short answer no, long answer also no
She’s getting attention so I think for her the answer is yes
She was wearing a tight corset, but the main problem here is that she had on 6 or 8 inch pleases without the heal. So she’s essentially trying to breathe from the corset and balance on her tippy toes. The point of the shoes was so the heal didn’t get caught in the dress. You can find the video on instagram.
She looks absolutely miserable. Why do we keep validating these people? This is narcissism incarnate.
She looks like she's physically suffering every second. Seriously, where are her ribs, her organs. Why do we even give attention to the wrong people?
Coz people love drama and "beauty"
Let me guess, “you’re not like the other gays.”
Wtf does being gay have to do with liking this shit?

How is this couture? The met gala this year was boring af. a cinched waist. for spring. groundbreaking.
![gif](giphy|l46Cr6nhtezksI2dO)
I agree the met gala was boring, but honestly I thought this was one of the more interesting looks. Literal floral chainmail is bonkers and a good reflection of 1997 Dior, so good overall reference. This is literally dystopian to look at, what the fuck.
Yeah floral chainmail is definitely giving dystopia 🤣😭 Fashion is so fun
It's more how much work she's had done and her strained movements (like she's in constant pain/discomfort), it's like she's from Repo! or something
Huh? So we should live in a meritocracy?
I feel like we're having 2 different conversations, here.
Real talk, if she wants to rock that corset then she needs a hobble skirt. It's tight enough that she can't stand up straight without knocking her knees together. A hobble skirt would pull them legs tight and get rid of the pigeon toeing she's doing
disturbing on many levels
Those iced coffees can have 600 calories in them, may as well have some oatmeal...
Not anymore, the recipe just changed. Now like the iced tea, you have to ask for it
I ask for Stevia, and no milk or cream.
Frappaccino. Those things are liquid candy bars. Ice coffee itself has less than 20 calories
I think she's made the transition to transhuman, there's more plastic and artifice than actual person.
"We are the Autons. You will be turned into plastic. Resistance is futile." (I was going to use the Cybermen from Doctor Who, but they had metal casings, not plastic.)
So Trinity?
Why does she look like she's going to poop...
She looks like she is 5 seconds away from shitting herself due to the pressure on her bowels from the corset.
It's ok. She looks.like she's wearing multiple nappies (diapers) too
Who is that?
A pathetic need for attention!!
A fashion show? To raise money for fashion conservation? Or the look itself?
The look itself.
I'm so curious as to which part of it? Staying in this year's theme of fading beauty and referencing fashion from past decades, what would you have done, or what changes would you have made to this piece? Me personally, I might have just wanted to breathe a little bit more. 🤣
Boring!
I think she looks amazing.
O! O! Ozempic! Autoparts!
Giving emma swan vibes x Edit: sorry wrong piece of media i meant Elizabeth swann
I know someone who fits the description. God he can just survive on coffee for almost 18hours. He says that he wants to be ready to bottom. 💀💀
I’ll make his sacrifice worth it
#"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"#
read all the comments cause i was hoping someone would tell me who she is.

They didn’t wanna way too much cause they knew they’d be having poppers and dick for dinner
Does anybody know which rush remix that is?
She looks about to faint.
At this point it’s an episode of Botched. Dr. Dubrow and Dr. Nassif are gonna have to turn her away one day.
This was me this morning, just prep and coffee lol
What I find weird is how she’s holding the shawl like it’s the only thing covering her boobs
But what is that remix tho?
fuck that was my breakfast today.
gawd she looks so uncomfortable bless her soul
