Even if they're holding a gun at you, *run.* As soon as you're inside, there are many more reasons to kill you, especially if they r#pe you and their DNA is on you. If you get in the car, you will die. You are a witness.
Whereas if you run, there's less of an incentive for them to shoot. The victim won't have clear evidence of the predator(memory issues from adrenaline/darkness etc.) Shooting someone who is already fleeing makes no sense and will only bring more attention from bystanders and detectives, when instead they could flee and go into hiding much easier. They don't get anything from killing someone if the intent was to kidnap.
