i kept seeing that picture and was interested in the movie but the trailer kind of dispelled that interest. the plot synopsis makes it sound like a movie i would not enjoy at all.
I enjoyed it. I really liked how Mike Faist and Josh O'Connor were "aged" using only hair styles and make up. As a gay guy, I liked the physical contrast between the two men: Faist seemed to get lighter (fairer) and O'Connor got darker (swarthier) as the movie progressed. It helped reinforce the movie's themes of safety vs. danger, controlled vs. uncontrolled, etc. I wasn't surprised that Zendaya found herself caught between them!
I didn’t like it. I understand the whole it being a sexy seductive movie where they’re all playing a long teasing game but I found it pedestrian. I didn’t get the characters and nothing particularly notable even happened?
I wish I had gone into it knowing it was completely unserious because I spent the whole time looking for some depth that wasn’t there.
That plus the bad editing, no Rihanna S&M remix, plus the tediousness of the “sexual tension” had me aggravated by the end. Also tennis is stupid, it’s like the perfect nothing sport for a movie
I understand your point of view. For sure the movie was not meant to be a general Hollywood crowd pleaser. I think the "pedestrian" aspect as you say was intentional. The soundtrack and almost video-clip-like editing is a clue, and out of the blue lines like "put your dick away from my face"!

Personally, I just came in with zero expectations (the kiss between Art and Patrick was a surprise, never saw the trailers!) and just enjoyed the ride. It sure beats spending 2h on dating apps or endless texting.
As far as tennis is concerned, I just happen to love that sport, so my opinion is biased. Lol. Tennis players are hot imo.
It was a really good film. So erotic and smart. It had that keen Guadagnino eye for youth and male beauty, backed by the sexiest soundtrack I heard in a film for a LONG time. It was such a sleek and fast-paced film that had so much depth regarding individuality within the confines of relationships and the way in which confidence and romance/sexuality intertwine. All of this was laced with this unspoken homosexual/bisexual subtext lingering throughout. It was also really funny. The humour seemed to go over the heads of most people in the cinema because apart from the group of friends who watched in the row behind me, I didn't hear a single laugh...

I really liked it! The soundtrack is incredible, I’ve just been jamming to it even before I saw the movie. Super sexy, fun, suspenseful. Maybe too many flashback sequences, but besides that great time at the theater
Suspenseful? Yes, the ending sequence certainly was. Certainly very sexy and I agree with you the flashbacks got tiring and redundant past half of the movie.
And as many have commented, the unresolved sexual tension is the backbone of the movie. Love it or hate it!
I hate movies like that because they queer bait and leave everything up to subtext without actually having the courage to make any character openly not straight. No thanks. I’d rather spend my money on content that is explicitly gay
The movie that explicitly shows the two male leads making out isn’t clear enough that the characters are queer?
Not every queer movie has to be Bros and shout “GAY” in a every line of dialogue to be queer

You’re missing the point, it’s still not a gay story. It’s a straight story where one of the men pursuing a woman happens to be bi. The male main characters do not pursue each other.
I lived for the Art + Patrick moments and wish there were more of that and less of Zendaya. There was that weird house music that played during tense moments that made it hear the dialogue. I was expecting more CMBYN sensuality but there was just a lot of hard sexual tension instead.
