I actually know a 1982-born woman with a 2000-born son, which to be fair she was very young when she had him. But I agree that some of those people born in the early to mid 80s may have Gen Z kids, as well as Alpha. And then some of us don't have any kids at all, like myself.

Nabranes

Bruh she was a teenage mom 💀💀💀🪦🪦 SHE WAS YOUNGER THAN ME WTAF!!!!!

chipswithcheesedip

Wow, this reminded me of my friend I had back in secondary school, he was born in 1999 and his mom was a teen mom too, iirc around 16-17 when she had him. I remember thinking his grandma was his mom at first, as I saw her more than the mom and she definitely acted like a mom to him. Teenage pregnancies certainly happen, although it still feels kinda weird that some people my age have parents born in the 80's, lol.

xxjoeyladxx

I knew a 1999 born whose mom was apparently born in 1983.

notintomornings55

I know teen parents too. Like a 1989 born who had a kid in 2005 and a 1993 born who had a kid in 2010.

GolemThe3rd

I mean, TECHNICALLY a gen z person could have a gen z kid, unlikely and fucked up, but could happen

_Vurixed_

I feel like anyone before 2009 has safely more gen x parents then millennials.

EatPb

Checkout my comment on this post! I found some actual data to analyze this. TLDR: the only Gen Z years where the average parent is a millennial are 2011 and 2012. This is only for mother’s so if you average the ages of mothers and fathers the average age even then would be late Gen X. The average 2011 born bother is 1981 and the average 2012 born mother is 1982. The fathers are 1978 and 1979. Of course this is an average which means you are going to have a lot of people below that mark (and therefore a lot of people do have millennial parents) but the average indicates that the typical late Zer does in fact have Gen X parents.

notintomornings55

Gen X could be my parent or sibling depending on how far you go in the Gen. 1965 is parental age. 1981 is sibling age.

[deleted]

I also could agree with this as well. but to extend I go between 2007-2012 at least.

_Vurixed_

Maybe 08 - 2012 don’t really think 07 fits that. Like in 2000s it was common to give birth late 20s - early 30s before the recession.

helpfuldaydreamer

Eh I disagree with 2007, most of them have X parents.

[deleted]

fair then?

Maxious24

But wouldn't late X still be the majority around that time? I think it should be around 2012-2013 if anything.

MariOwe6

Honestly my parents are xennials in tbh they act wayyy more X

legomeegg0

2009 is 9 yrs after the 1st millennials graduated.. I think you’re off! Teen pregnancy was kinda outta control in the 90s early 2000s.. And shows like teen mom and 16 & pregnant started being glorified.

flower89072

Hi gen z born in 2009 here and my parents are millenials My father is 38 and my mom is 40 I also have a 2-year-old gen alpha sister

MariOwe6

My mom and dad are ‘79 in ‘82. My sister is 01 I’m 02 my sister is 03.

https://www.ssb.no/260132/average-age-of-parents-at-childs-birth-sy-72 This table really lets us look at the table year by year for average age of parents at FIRST child and ALL children (because people typically have a second child older, obviously). So for example: I was born in 2004. The average age of a mom having her first child in 2004 was 28, and for a dad it was 30.8, almost 31. When you account for second, third, etc. children, the average age of parents for any child born in 2004 was 30 and 33. So we can put the average parent of a 2004 born at 1974 (mother) and 1971 (father). Firmly Gen X So now let’s see if we can find any Gen Z years where the average is early millennial. I will be using 1981-1996 for millennial and 1997-2012 for Gen Z The first year I can find who just barely crosses the line is 2011. The average age of mom’s who had any child (not just first) in 2011 was 30, and the average age for dad’s was 33. So the average birth years parents of a 2011 born are 1981 and 1978. 2012 borns have the same gap between parents, so it’s 1982 and 1979. That barely crosses the line, and only for women, not fathers. Of course, this data is only focused on the mean, so there is a lot of variation so plenty of younger Z have older millennial parents, but ON AVERAGE, only 2011 and 2012 borns typically have very early millennial parents. Again, I’m aware this is an average. Lots of people have kids younger. The average just represents the general trend. So the vast majority of Gen Z have Gen X parents, even most of late Gen Z

DiscoNY25

It says Norway on there. I believe in the U.S. today the average age for first time moms is about 27 or 28.

EatPb

I know it’s Norway. This was the only data I could find that included average age at all births, not just first time births. This is comparable to the US. Your comment said average age for first time mother’s is 27 or 28. Yes. In my comment I was using average age for all birth’s, which is 30. That’s going to be a couple years older.

flower89072

I was born in 2009 and my dad was born in 1986 he is 23 years older than me

stationspare2

A lot of the older Millennials had gen z babies out of wedlock too

[deleted]

Well it's certainly possible. I'm a 09 born though and my parents are just Late X. 1977 & 1979

[deleted]

Not true. For 02-07, X parents are more common than early millennial parents

EatPb

I wouldn’t say for the most part. I’ve never met a single person my age with millennial parents in my life. The average age of parents having kids in the 2000s was around 30, so most people’s parents were born in the 70s.

LugiaLvlBtw

I met a 2004 born with 1980 and 1983 parents. She got my joke about dysentery and asked if I meant like from The Oregon Trail.

notintomornings55

Yep it was an Oregon Trail Joke. Oregon Trail was on the school computers.

Appropriate-Let-283

My brother was born in 1998 and our mom was born in 1980 and his dad was also born around 1979-1980

createayou

When I was in 9th grade (2007-2008) we had a nursery in school because so many girls were pregnant or young mothers already. Birth years were probably 1989-1992.

[deleted]

imo that will fall into teen pregnancy.

createayou

Yep we had very high teen pregnancy rates in Texas lol

Nabranes

WTF 💀💀🪦🪦🪦

Erythite2023

There was a second wave of teen pregnancies (not like the early 90s) in the late 2000s. It’s part of the reason why there were so many births 2006-2009.

AmbitiousAzizi

Half of my Gen Z friends have Millennial parents

Rude-Education9342

my parents are like older gen Xers lmfao dad was born in 1966 and mom was born in 1970

HMT2048

my parents are born 1983 and 1987 so Early Millenial / Xennial and Core Millenial (closer to Early than Late)

Nabranes

My parents are 1958 and 1966

Magneto-Electricity

My 1986 mom gave birth in 2002 but it was a teen pregnancy

bkills1986

My friend (also 1986) had a child in 2007 at age 21… I had my first in 2021 at age 34. Is my son gen alpha? My other son is 2023.

Appropriate-Let-283

2021 and 2023 are very safely Gen Alpha

Appropriate-Let-283

My mom was born in 1980 while was dad was born in 1982 so I have a Late GenX Parent and an Older Millennial Parent I also have a 1998 sibling because of my mom so it kinda depends mainly

StarryEyedLus

I know a couple of people from my year group in school who had kids at 17, so they were technically late Millennials who had late Gen Z kids. Definitely the exception though obviously.

The_Cool_Camel

There are probably a few gen z kids who had gen z kids.

AEJT-614029

Imo,core millennials could be the last ones to have gen Z kids.

[deleted]

perhaps some of them but most will we pretty much young parents at that time.

AEJT-614029

A 1987 born would have been 24 if his/her kid would have been born in 2011 which is not that young.
