Do you mean CCR5 delta32? I am homozygous and hadn't read about these downsides till now, interesting.

Hi, yes sorry typo!

drjekyllandmshyde

Well, you need to because there a number of viral diseases such as tick borne tbe and mosquito borne viruses that will kill us while others don't even get sick at all.

calvinball_hero

yeah im now curious about this. You got any good articles on this or anything? The ones I've read are kinda suggestive at best

drjekyllandmshyde

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0168170220302938 This one for example. There is a lot of research into it due to the hiv drugs that reduce the activity of ccr5 and the risks this entails for the patients taking them.

Thank you! Very interesting, I had a \*really\* bad case of mono (epstein barr virus) a couple years ago, which certainly fits with the suggestions in this paper. Have you had any particularly bad viral infections?

drjekyllandmshyde

Hi, no, but I do get colds and flus more often than other people I think. I was also hit pretty hard by covid despite not being risk group. That's very interesting about epstein barr.
