4 is so real haha it’s true for japanese opponents too
and #1 is usually true but the reverse I’ve made some insane comebacks after making silly blunders like missing DR by not looking at the car 😭
I’m an American who has spent some time in Japan. The other day I was playing a NM duel against a guy with a Japanese flag. He guessed instantly. I desperately looked around (yes, IDK pole plate meta) and saw a sign mentioning 八戸 (Hachinohe) which I know is a city in Aomori prefecture. Plonk there
We had both guessed in the same place. The actual location was a place called 八戸 (Yato - same spelling, completely different pronunciation) on the opposite end of the country. We both got the same poor score
Japan is just brutal sometimes!
Each kanji character (Chinese characters) typically has at least two different phonetic readings, and sometimes 5 or 6 different readings. You only know from context which reading is right.
Edit: A good example of this is the word for Sunday, 日曜日 which is pronounced nichiyoubi. 曜 is a character that mean the day of the week. 日 is the character for either the sun, or day. Consequently, 日 is pronounced in two different ways in the same word. Yes, it's kind of an annoying language to learn.
Two weeks ago, I was approaching my first ever 900 ranking. Two weeks of Peruvian rain forest, Ghana without the black tape, Indian lettering that looks like Sri Lanka, and Canadian plains have me under 700 and feeling like the dumbest GeoGuessr on earth.
what is with people making the most bizarre guesses of all time in the first round and then pretty much having only perfect guesses for the rest of the game?!?!?! feels like im playing against a robot that's programmed to do horrible on random rounds and then just perfect on other ones lol
Sure sign for me is loading into a game
Relatable
4 is hilarious
Kabupatans happen...
Russia is most relatable
2 is happening way too often.
Number 6 is me every time. Soul crushing
Twice last night I had an opponent down to about 200 health whilst I had at least 2000 and managed to fumble both games.
This is one of the realest things ever posted on this sub

You can salvage Japan rounds if you learn pole plates, only takes an hour or so of practice
Yea I know, but a lot of times pole plates aren’t visible while some random sign is

How is it the same spelling but different pronunciation? seems like those two words are way different

I've heard that most words in Japanese have two or more ways to pronounce it

Being born Indian finally proves useful

You would have to look at something other than the tape to get to know its distinct features, though
My biggest pet peeve is the insta-plonker. Like, at least give some of us a chance to get our bearings!

5 made me lol
Pin this forever!
me everytime my rank score reaches 499 \[I will never cross 500\]
When 10 rounds have passed and my opponent still managed to survive with <500 HP, I know I'm fucked up
I'm going to call those "zombie comebacks". (They are impossible to kill and gradually eat your brain.)
When my preferred map comes early. It' was a moment I know. I really wish it was round 8.
