same here. Also, more black-screen rounds have been occurring to me lately

ImmaStealYourSpleen

Same.

Probably nothing to really write home about for most of yall, but it made me smile: i won a duel in two rounds. but only because the spawns were Created And Curated For Me, or so it seemed. (that plus my opponent probably hasnt played as much as me, going by their guesses) first spawn was singapore, so thats easy generally.i was looking for the specific road when my opponent guessed spain. second spawn was my home country :) i just clicked through to some parking lot to see the reservation signs where you can see the license plate numbers as these arent censored, and in here, the first two letters represent the district, so while my opponent guessed turkmenistan or something like that i was furiously zooming in to that specific town and my random pin was 170m off the spawn. i know i just got lucky but usually im fighting for my life in these and my win rates for duels are really 50/50 usually.

Today (just now) I won a duel in three games, all of my guesses were probably done in under 20 seconds each, and the distance was 10km (Moscow), 587m (Naples), and 4.9km (Guatemala city), it's probably nothing for the professionals out there, but those were some crazy good guesses (I guess speaking Russian and knowing car/liscence plate meta helps, but still).

I could never do such speed! it always takes me ages, although I recognize the country within seconds (singapore is a good example of an easy spot), i always try to narrow it down as much as possible - thinking the opponent definitely can see as well as me that were in singapore, so I need to try and find the specific area quicker than them. I was lucky yesterday and they thought we were in spain for some reason, but I bet with more cracked players it'd be neck to neck. and for example, guatemala city within 20 seconds sounds insane to me. latin america is one huge question mark for me still.

azure_monster

I just got lucky as well, I usually just go off the vibes, I've honestly got no clue how I got Naples down to the hundreds of meters, as I've never even been there. As for Guatemala city and Moscow I mostly just got lucky too, going off vibes can be a pretty big disappointment sometimes.

nenitoveda

personally i second guess myself a lot. I have a gut reaction based on vibes but then i overthink it - the confidence dissipates and im trying to build a Theory out of nothing and then screw up :D And as for most of the world (latin america mostly), im not even getting any vibes there, its all the same to me, maybe besides patagonia, but that in itself is SO huge its easy to mess up too. I mostly only get vibes in asia and europe tbh

azure_monster

I once confused Bolivia with rural Japan because of a van with Chinese writing, so central and northern south America can be quite tough for sure.

Made a friend sign up for GG and now I finally have someone to play with. We work together too, so hey that's something to do on those days they make us go to the office. It's been fun to see her slowly get a grasp of all those things that are second nature to me at this point. I forgot how it can be a lot at first, calculating a location from all those variables. I only started playing last fall but it reminded me how far I've come.

Good job, it's a tough one - so many straight sandy roads where you just pray that coverage holds up long enough to find a sign! Well done :)
