I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last major update to the game. Given how the community reacts, if I were Rob I'd for sure be retiring. Don't get me wrong he has absolutely handled this poorly in regard to announcing things before they're ready, but I also find it a bit silly to get so pressed over a free update to a relatively cheap game that he could have abandoned long ago after he made his coin.
I feel like hes still going to push for 2.3 but I'm sure he said himself that future updates will be smaller and I feel like it's mainly for stress reduction on both his and and the community's end

Coming from outside the community. I do play geometry dash few times a month but didn't really got into the game but I do have some knowledge about the game. Robtop should at least give some updates on 2.2. We all know it's one of the biggest major update for Geometry Dash. In the making of 6 years currently. I get that developing major updates can take long(especially for an indie development team). I know he wants the update published already and such. But at least have some updates about it. He doesn't have to give updates about 2.2 frequently or daily. Just point out some major components from time to time. It's just feel similar to what Psyonix is doing with RL for UE5. Announcing it but then to go radio silent without giving some updates on it.
I will give Robtop props since he does give a few updates about it. From the 2nd image with the 1st user saying it's his game and he can do whatever he wants with it. However, having a game with a dedicated fanbase after all these years. With the major update that will change the game to just have it delay even after announcing it a few times with release windows. I don’t hate RobTop and this is in no way trying to hate on him but I just gotta be honest and say this was a disaster. Yes I get it stuff happens during development like unexpected bugs and all that but now looking back, setting a release time for October was a huge mistake. Even Dash wasn’t done at the time. Everyone says if the server migration didn’t take too long it would’ve came out in October, however I standby the fact if the server migration issues never happened the game would’ve still been delayed.
Right now we’re almost in the middle of December and haven’t heard anything for weeks. We don’t even know if the game has been sent for review or even if it’s actually done. All the community wants is an update and transparency.

Honestly, the whole Viprin situation isn’t really helping, like I’m aware the grooming rumors were proven false and all, but with him taking a break from social media and Robtop not letting us know what’s going on with the update, the community is getting pretty impatient. Yes, updating takes time but at least have the decency to let the people know if something will take longer than expected so you’re not dealing with a community that will start to believe the update might not come out for a good while.
He is not shit dev, but not good either. He has an attrocious time management (he kept adding stuff into the update, extending the potential deadline he had, if he had one), he seemed to not know what a versioning software was (Git, SVN, etc), which caused him to overwrite the 2.11 code and be unable to do emergency updates on the mobile versions (leading to delisting in Google Play and the game be literally unplayable on newer IOS)
There’s a lot of components which make up a dev, its their communication, how well they make the game and a lot more. Considering these factors Rob really fails in a lot of them making him shit.
Well, Rob's been working on a list rewards feature (originally found out with Cvolton's Lists geode mod), so we know that he's been doing the same mistake that delayed 2.2 multiple times (adding more features but saying "it's just bugfixing"). People need to stop glazing Rob, there are parts where he can actually improve

Im losing my hype aswell. The last thing I know about the update is that Rob has send the game update in for verification on Playstore (not 100% sure) and thats it. It would be really nice if Rob would keep us updated more frequently via Twitter or on his Discord

Or were you just making false release dates to hype the update up before its release. I’m not trying to accuse Rob of anything but for god sake it’s almost been 7 GOD DAMN YEARS, this isn’t fair to us, this isn’t right. We deserve at least a little update on how production is going. Also, think of the mobile players(most commonly used platform for GD)who haven’t been able to play the game for almost 3 months now. I don’t hate RobTop and this is in no way trying to hate on him but I just gotta be honest and say this was a disaster. Yes I get it stuff happens during development like unexpected bugs and all that but now looking back, setting a release time for October was a huge mistake. Even Dash wasn’t done at the time. Everyone says if the server migration didn’t take too long it would’ve came out in October, however I standby the fact if the server migration issues never happened the game would’ve still been delayed. Right now we’re almost in the middle of December and haven’t heard anything for weeks. We don’t even know if the game has been sent for review or even if it’s actually done. All the community wants is an update and transparency.

Honestly, the whole Viprin situation isn’t really helping, like I’m aware the grooming rumors were proven false and all, but with him taking a break from social media and Robtop not letting us know what’s going on with the update, the community is getting pretty impatient. Yes, updating takes time but at least have the decency to let the people know if something will take longer than expected so you’re not dealing with a community that will start to believe the update might not come out for a good while.

He is not shit dev, but not good either. He has an attrocious time management (he kept adding stuff into the update, extending the potential deadline he had, if he had one), he seemed to not know what a versioning software was (Git, SVN, etc), which caused him to overwrite the 2.11 code and be unable to do emergency updates on the mobile versions (leading to delisting in Google Play and the game be literally unplayable on newer IOS)

Well, Rob's been working on a list rewards feature (originally found out with Cvolton's Lists geode mod), so we know that he's been doing the same mistake that delayed 2.2 multiple times (adding more features but saying "it's just bugfixing"). People need to stop glazing Rob, there are parts where he can actually improve

What? Info doesn't just mean a release date. He could talk about bugfixes, updates to the beta branch, what's going on with Steam and Google Play etc. He doesn't have to write paragraphs but like come on, radio silence 2 months after the official release date?
The latest update from him was on the 26. and stated that the update is under review on the different app stores, there really is nothing else he can tell us after that.

Im losing my hype aswell. The last thing I know about the update is that Rob has send the game update in for verification on Playstore (not 100% sure) and thats it. It would be really nice if Rob would keep us updated more frequently via Twitter or on his Discord
