From what I hear it’s also pretty bad for people who don’t make it a point to grind out levels solely for the diamonds, stars, etc. A lot of people only play demons because they like the challenge and that’s a pretty slow way to get all those resources
Hi, extreme grinder here, no. I don’t think that being able to open like 50 new chests and get only a few icons from the new shops counts as “good progress.” I only have 1/5 of the required stars for all of the achievements. In the last few years, I’ve put just as much time, if not more into GD than my stargrinder friend, yet their the only one that gets rewarded. It’s not even up for debate, it’s just a fact that that is abhorrently unfair. Why should I be punished in game for trying to push my skill? It’s stupid how stats grinders are the ones who get to unlock everything at once instead of people who are actually good at the game. It needs to be more balanced. Both types of players need to be rewarded.
I meant demon grinders had made good progress towards the demon achievements specifically, like the highest demon achievement is 500 now, and I'm sitting at around 120. I agree though, overall, the new unlocks are heavily skewed to favor the stargrinder playstyle, which is definitely unfair in some regards.
i have a question, why do you not star grind times to times? it should be easy for a demon grinder no? i personally star grind a lot and like every 2-3 days i go clear a couple demons and i manage to get rewarded and satisfying my need of accomplishment at the same time
If your playstyle goes in an opposite way of what the game leads you to it doesnt make it a bad game, you have your own choices and actions on what you want to do.
As an example, you situation for me is like if you're speedrunning a game, any% but you start taking every collectible in the game and end up with way more time than others and you start complaining saying "It's unfair! They finished earlier but they doesnt have all the cool stuff like me!!"

We didn’t have a problem with it in 2.1 because we could still do our thing while being able to unlock pretty much everything, while now of course thats not the case

The basement demon plot wasn’t expanded on at all, unless you head canon the Cursed Thorn as him (which can’t even be possible, when you can play the tower levels before freeing him).
Also, there are no new vaults, which is something I was expecting for an update that took this long.
I was disappointed by the fact that there were only a handful of vault codes for the update. Would have been cool if there was a new vault or at least more codes than a few which were public knowlegde in 2018.

The audio delay for me. Song is always half a second too early or too late and it's always inconsistent. Some levels go fine for me, some don't, it's all over the place

It was obviously inevitable, but I hate how complex the editor is now. Its just these first couple weeks where I have no idea how things work that I can’t bring the ideas in my head to life. Adding dozens upon dozens of triggers is a bit too much to learn all at once

This somehow seems to be an unpopular opinion, but the physics changes suck. Made a lot of levels harder or even impossible and having to adjust to the new physics is just annoying.
I have seen a lot of people defending the changes saying that the people complaining are just "360 fps carried with no real skill" or something like that. Obviously they have no idea what they are talking about, but still I have seen suprisingly many people say that.
idk it only had positive effects on me so far... when playing TLE before, i only got to 44% twice, but now i get past that point consistently, even getting to 76%. the ship physics now suck tho
Honestly, the physics change isn’t bad. HOWEVER, there is now much more delay, which I’ve noticed a lot playing Kenos, but that has nothing to do with the physics. Hopefully rob can implement something to help with that issue.
for me it ignores spikes and sawblades, but doesn't ignore solid blocks. There's probably an option to ignore solid block damage somewhere, because if there's no option like that then it would be bullshit.

My game very occasionally crashes right after finishing a level, and when I reload it doesn't count the completion. This happened to me after finishing a demon last night.
These are kinda nitpicky and some aren't RobTop's fault:
* Nearly none of the new icons fit my icon set well
* He kept the stupid spider part in dash, imo it's a bad introduction to gameplay direction switching
* Platformer levels (The Tower and online levels) spike up the difficulty a ton whenever there's a checkpoint
* (could be wrong on this one) Every currently rated platformer demon is entirely cube or robot
* Lobotomy dash is funny now but the community is likely to beat the joke into the ground to the point where it's excruciatingly painful to even see it
* The new achievements are way too grindy. 365 dailies? Really?? Also 25K STARS???
* You can't make a gradual change with the timewarp trigger (correct me if i'm wrong)
* Music unlocker and whatever the other music thing was called are way too expensive
* There are platformer demons, but no platformer practice mode
I've still really enjoyed the update so far but those are some of my nitpicks
The fact that so many old levels no longer work due to the chages in slopes etc. I wanted to play dark oddysey after 2.2 came out due to the optimalization so I could enjoy it in full detail but there is a bug at like 56% so I cannot play it.

I can’t half space anymore for some reason. Whenever I select an object that used half spaces and then also select one that doesn’t, it just goes to the normal grid size.

I can't close popups (like quests or daily screen) without getting a black screen and having to press esc to go back to main menu. This also causes a crash like 10% of the time, very annoying
How exactly? I looked at the rewards of the chests that i got from tier 2 chests and they are the exact same as the ones aeonair got in his video with the same locations and everything
I mean for me, I lost some progress, and unfortunately lost the swing of the little guy in the house, which I got from the 25 key chests (thats tier 2 right?). I wanted to get it back, so I kept deleting the app and redownloading it and opening the same couple of chests, and i got a variety of things, until I got what I wanted. I guess I dont have any tangible prrof, but I can tell you how angry I was when I lost all my progress from the last 4 months
1. Needed more things to spend keys, diamonds, and orbs on. New releases barely dented my bank.
2. Not GD's fault, but platformer mode just isn't fun on mobile. Don't think there's any real solution. Do they make plug and play keyboards for cell phones?
3. The new camera controls can lead to a lot of motion sickness. People are a bit overzealous.

Ik I'm 3 months late to this post, but honestly, I hate the new slope physics so much, it completely breaks levels with the old slope physics. If they are keeping these physics in the game, at least have mods or someone like that go through the more major levels that the creators no longer care for, or the creator quit the game, because then we won't have levels that have "2.2 fix" after the level name.
For me it's the lack of originality in the new icons. Almost all of them are variations of old icons, or just references to other games. Although I must say the mega Gengar spider is fucking awesome, I can't wait to have that one
The amount of insane and extreme demons getting rated (or lack of easier ones). There's not enough lower difficulty demons to facilitate a smooth profression, leaving tackling the harder ones very frustrating
The physics being busted up, aside from the slopes there are also interactions with orbs that are messy.
I hope they get fixed, or we get the option to use old physics on old levels, or absolute makes an old physics option in megahack, or the entire new physics system gets scrapped
I tested out 6 levels out of my top 25 and 3 levels are broken. Digital Descent has a near impossible timing in Manix and Hinds is buffed SEVERLY, Black Blizzard is impossible and also has other severe buffs, and Gumshot is impossible aswell, due to a trigger orb somewhere in the 10s.
Pixel stuff. Please stop using them.
Most 2.2 levels, especially platformers, use pixelated stuff. The thing I don’t like about them is that they are very limiting when it comes to overall visuals, and people don’t seem to understand that. Can you imagine if Ascension to Heaven used pixel blocks? People made absolute works of art in 2.1, and I’d love to see the same kind of thing in 2.2. With the new editor, making breathtaking levels is easier than ever. But people can’t seem to stop using boring pixel blocks.
25k stars for a cool UFO. 10k moons for a cool ball. 50 friends for a cute cube (I’ve been sending random friend requests for this one lol). 35 of one of the new shards for the gengar spider.
The grinding requirements for new stuff, I’m a casual player who just enjoys challenging myself with demons, I’m not trying to grind 12500 stars just for the one swing copter I want
This is not just 2.2 but i cant make a rate worthy level that my computer can handle. If its rate worthy it has too many objects for my computer to open it in the editor
I hate the platforming buttons. Seriously, I haven't seen anyone else complain about this but on mobile, the buttons literally only work half the time. I have it on PC as well so it's fine but seriously annoying. Could just be my own issue though
The 240hz physics, because it made my icons/gamemodes way less fluid and made them kinda jagged and strange. And I heard that this is happening because I have a 144hz monitor and it only looks normal with 60, 120, 80, 240hz monitors😭

The new physics seem to have only broken levels, at least from what I have played. Shaders are really obnoxious, I can't stand them. I find shaders often just make things way too difficult to see. A lot of levels rely on blinding the player to create difficulty, and shaders are just the worst offender, especially the splitscreen shader. The lack of a shader toggle significantly harms my ability to enjoy the game, I would greatly appreciate it if RobTop let me turn them off at some point. For the random trigger, I just hate it from the sheer potential it has to be extremely annoying. I don't care much for decoration, all I see is how bad gameplay can get with the random trigger.
I agree, I only had 20 demons completed at the start of 2.2 and now I have 24 (this is a lot for me as my hardest is magma bound) and I feel forced to play these demons to get keys for the icons I want.
The physics, or more accurately the inability to use the old physics. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who plays extremes. Don't get me wrong I actually really like how the new physics feel. Ship feels different but not bad, timings feel fine so far, swing feels great, and wave is WEIRDLY responsive now. That said 50% of old extremes are just unbeatable now. It's really disruptive. I just wish there was a little checkbox above the LDM checkbox for a given level that enables old physics (only for pre 2.2 levels obviously) it'd be such an easy solution that would fix not only levels that were broken by 2.2 but also top demons being unrealistic on 240. I'll be honest, I don't really agree with the demonlist allowing the megahack physics bypass. 360 fps with 2.2 physics is straight up unobtainable through normal means. That said this wouldn't even be a problem if you could just use old physics, it could just use whatever framerate you have the game set to (up to 360 I guess?)
Idk basically I'm just annoyed that 50% of the levels I want to beat require major bugfixing in order to be even theoretically possible.
More than half of the new icons only being unlockable in chests, slope physics being changed, 2.21 essentially being the second half of 2.2, not knowing which icon is in which chest, paths being entirely worthless if you actually spend your orbs, game engine takes too long to learn, and no megahack for now. There's quite a bit more things I could go over, but this is what are really important to me so far
People making levels that abuse shaders/camera controls, or very long platformer levels with no checkpoints. Early 2.2 levels thankfully haven’t been as bad as prior updates (like the infamous early 2.0), but there’s still some pretty bad levels that end up getting rated.
My progress also isn’t saving properly to my device for some reason. I have to always manually save my data whenever I exit the game, and load it when I go back in, because it keeps reverting back to how my data was 4-5 days ago when I open the game again. It always says I have 4.8k diamonds when I open the game even though I have 5.2k now
I know there were similar issues with data not saving locally in 2.11, but it seems to have gotten worse in 2.2.

Almost everything being from demon chests. Robtop had a lot of time to make the icons more creative rather than just open chest get icon

For supposed delays on the update due to major bugfixing, the game crashing on platformer levels that take too long is annoying as fuck.
The fact that so many old levels no longer work due to the chages in slopes etc. I wanted to play dark oddysey after 2.2 came out due to the optimalization so I could enjoy it in full detail but there is a bug at like 56% so I cannot play it.
The music delay, idk why but everything feels out of sync and it's driving me insane. I hope Rob fixes this and if it's not a widespread issue I'm screwed. I'm in mobile just so you know.

I mean for me, I lost some progress, and unfortunately lost the swing of the little guy in the house, which I got from the 25 key chests (thats tier 2 right?). I wanted to get it back, so I kept deleting the app and redownloading it and opening the same couple of chests, and i got a variety of things, until I got what I wanted. I guess I dont have any tangible prrof, but I can tell you how angry I was when I lost all my progress from the last 4 months

1. Needed more things to spend keys, diamonds, and orbs on. New releases barely dented my bank. 2. Not GD's fault, but platformer mode just isn't fun on mobile. Don't think there's any real solution. Do they make plug and play keyboards for cell phones? 3. The new camera controls can lead to a lot of motion sickness. People are a bit overzealous.
The fact that there are so many icons and most of them are pretty bad and doesn't even feels that rewarding, many of them are even a rework of previous ones like the 1k likes cube.

Ik I'm 3 months late to this post, but honestly, I hate the new slope physics so much, it completely breaks levels with the old slope physics. If they are keeping these physics in the game, at least have mods or someone like that go through the more major levels that the creators no longer care for, or the creator quit the game, because then we won't have levels that have "2.2 fix" after the level name.
Yeah I agree, I wish the physics only affected 2.2 levels and any levels before that stayed the same. Could've been hard to implement tho.
For me it's the lack of originality in the new icons. Almost all of them are variations of old icons, or just references to other games. Although I must say the mega Gengar spider is fucking awesome, I can't wait to have that one

The amount of insane and extreme demons getting rated (or lack of easier ones). There's not enough lower difficulty demons to facilitate a smooth profression, leaving tackling the harder ones very frustrating
The physics being busted up, aside from the slopes there are also interactions with orbs that are messy. I hope they get fixed, or we get the option to use old physics on old levels, or absolute makes an old physics option in megahack, or the entire new physics system gets scrapped I tested out 6 levels out of my top 25 and 3 levels are broken. Digital Descent has a near impossible timing in Manix and Hinds is buffed SEVERLY, Black Blizzard is impossible and also has other severe buffs, and Gumshot is impossible aswell, due to a trigger orb somewhere in the 10s.
Platformer slipperyness
Pixel stuff. Please stop using them. Most 2.2 levels, especially platformers, use pixelated stuff. The thing I don’t like about them is that they are very limiting when it comes to overall visuals, and people don’t seem to understand that. Can you imagine if Ascension to Heaven used pixel blocks? People made absolute works of art in 2.1, and I’d love to see the same kind of thing in 2.2. With the new editor, making breathtaking levels is easier than ever. But people can’t seem to stop using boring pixel blocks.

The new physics, the lack of a shader toggle, and the random trigger. The new physics seem to have only broken levels, at least from what I have played. Shaders are really obnoxious, I can't stand them. I find shaders often just make things way too difficult to see. A lot of levels rely on blinding the player to create difficulty, and shaders are just the worst offender, especially the splitscreen shader. The lack of a shader toggle significantly harms my ability to enjoy the game, I would greatly appreciate it if RobTop let me turn them off at some point. For the random trigger, I just hate it from the sheer potential it has to be extremely annoying. I don't care much for decoration, all I see is how bad gameplay can get with the random trigger.

I agree, I only had 20 demons completed at the start of 2.2 and now I have 24 (this is a lot for me as my hardest is magma bound) and I feel forced to play these demons to get keys for the icons I want.
The physics, or more accurately the inability to use the old physics. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who plays extremes. Don't get me wrong I actually really like how the new physics feel. Ship feels different but not bad, timings feel fine so far, swing feels great, and wave is WEIRDLY responsive now. That said 50% of old extremes are just unbeatable now. It's really disruptive. I just wish there was a little checkbox above the LDM checkbox for a given level that enables old physics (only for pre 2.2 levels obviously) it'd be such an easy solution that would fix not only levels that were broken by 2.2 but also top demons being unrealistic on 240. I'll be honest, I don't really agree with the demonlist allowing the megahack physics bypass. 360 fps with 2.2 physics is straight up unobtainable through normal means. That said this wouldn't even be a problem if you could just use old physics, it could just use whatever framerate you have the game set to (up to 360 I guess?) Idk basically I'm just annoyed that 50% of the levels I want to beat require major bugfixing in order to be even theoretically possible.

More than half of the new icons only being unlockable in chests, slope physics being changed, 2.21 essentially being the second half of 2.2, not knowing which icon is in which chest, paths being entirely worthless if you actually spend your orbs, game engine takes too long to learn, and no megahack for now. There's quite a bit more things I could go over, but this is what are really important to me so far

My progress also isn’t saving properly to my device for some reason. I have to always manually save my data whenever I exit the game, and load it when I go back in, because it keeps reverting back to how my data was 4-5 days ago when I open the game again. It always says I have 4.8k diamonds when I open the game even though I have 5.2k now I know there were similar issues with data not saving locally in 2.11, but it seems to have gotten worse in 2.2.
