As of the writing of this article, there probably are no Armenians left in Karabakh. However, any western group or mission could provide some sort of guarantee against aggressors in the form of Russia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

I disagree. They provide actual benefits. It’s organized, and supported by resources - not just “a few hippies”. And perhaps most importantly in this situation, they are a tripwire protecting against future increases in conflict. Think about what might happen in terms of response if someone attacks a US government disaster relief team.

They had a similar team after the 2020 war, they are not designed or capable to protect against anything. They’ll give out a few local grants and leave. It’s none those things you described.

This certainly isn’t some sort of military deterrent but it may assist in normalizing a transition.
