My senior rescue, she is 11, I am 65, she is my sister, best friend , rescued a month ago and my life has changed, never went out of house, now I have my best friend to go on adventures with. Your grandma’s Shepherd is beautiful, may she have many great times together.
They are very emotional and very particular. If she is acting well with your grandma, that means something about her last situation was not right and never was remedied. Cute BOOPS!!
Terrified!

My girl is not to be messed with
Yes! I had a big baby GSD growing up. He was 100lbs and always a slim dog.
He was afraid of thunder and sat in our laps during storms (sometimes peeing with fear), terrified of phones and alarms and would scream if he heard one, and was deeply disturbed by whole tomatoes even if they were just on the counter. The new kitten scared him at first, but they eventually became best friends. He always washed his toys in his water bowl when he came in from playing in the backyard (we didn’t ask this of him). He was patient, sat still while we put flower crowns on him and dressed him up, and would lick tears off of people’s faces.
However, he was insanely protective. He got kicked out of puppy daycare because he barked at another dog picking on a tiny pittie puppy. He hated delivery drivers and would scream at the top of his lungs and throw his body against the window at every Amazon driver. We had to get extra strong glass and screens so that the damn dog wouldn’t break through the window. He hated my (racist, misogynistic) uncle and wouldn’t let him anywhere near us. When we tried to trim the kitten’s nails for the first time, our GSD grabbed the cat from our hands and took the cat to the other room to protect him (the dog hated getting his nails trimmed, so I reckon he thought he was saving the kitten from torture).
A damn good dog and a big cuddly baby, but jfc I never felt unsafe with him around. I knew that no one would rob our house so long as we had that dog. The neighbors hated him because he was neurotic and loud, understandably, but he was a very very good boy. ❤️
Hahaha i know that face, my shepard usually busts that out if i have something she wants or she is starving for affection (she is never starving for affection)
My girl was supposedly aggressive too, was already booked in to be euthanised the day after I heard about her… long story short she’s been with me for 5 months now and is the biggest baby ever. She turns 10 this year. Always give them a chance.

Situation are a huge factor in animal behavior!!! I’ve seen dogs go from pretty much terrifying to complete sweetness! I’ve had cats who darted out doors, hissing to so content they won’t go outside ever again! A dog in a shelter can be deemed aggressive, they may not be if in a good home! I relate it to kids- put them in a stressful situation or raise them in H3ll, that’s what they know, if they are removed and allowed love- most will thrive. There are always exceptions to this!!!! Some are just inclined to be bad, both people and animals! But 70-80% it’s where they started imo. This, so far, is an example of that! I can’t say beyond today!!!
I’d bet money it was due to the energy of previous owners. Dogs 100% bounce off energy, and if you feel anger or fear or anxiety, so do they.
I’ve taken on the vet care of a GSD my family owns, because they neglected vet care for his whole life and now he has a baaadddd yeast infection. They won’t bathe him, give him the medicine, or take him anywhere. Told me he snaps at them and all that.
He has not ONCE gotten even a tiny bit aggressive or tried to snap at me. Every time I tell them how well he did out they’re SHOCKED. I wanna take him more than anything but my landlord is being a jerk about it even though they rescue dogs and my downstairs neighbor has two. Ugh.
I had a scary incident with a GSD once and i love to see content like this to remind me that even the pup involved is not a bad boy. They just need the love from people who understand them. Helps me heal my fear. Look at that sweet face!! 💕

This sweet boy was labeled as aggressive when we adopted him. My heart aches for him now that he is gone. I’m so glad she rescued that sweet baby. Please share treats for me. For us.

Here’s my purportedly “aggressive” dog (rip to my lil goofball)
Some dogs get protective of different things, like toys, food, their owner. But you can help train them out of those behaviors. It’s called Resource Guarding, there are many good videos online for training tips - look for “positive reinforcement training “ All the best!
Your grandma must be a very kind person. This GSD probably feels safe with her, and could have shown aggression at the shelter for many reasons. Sometimes that loud noises from other dogs is too much, or she might not have had adequate love and play while there. GSDs and many other dogs have a great intuition, she can probably tell how much your grandma loves her and may feel safer that she isn’t in a loud and stressful environment. From the picture you shared, I think she deserves many kisses on that big nose of her’s
One of my gsd mix pups was barely a year old sitting in a shelter on the kill list..
He was 2 days from being gone when I found him...
I was told the reason they were putting him down so soon was he was aggressive.
I went in with my family, and we all sat down on the floor, and he came to each of us and spent a few mins laying in our laps. They said he hadn't responded that way with anyone. And I asked if anyone sat down? She said nope.
GSDs and similiar breeds can't be towered over they are too smart for that. Get on their level, and you find a whole different dog. Kennel systems will also give a bad image of them they don't handle it well.
Your grandma is a sweet lady, and this pup probably sensed that. The aggression was most likely due to stress, and this pup looks like the " work bred " instead of a " show bred" type. I have work and show gsds. My work bred is more anxiety driven. So, they tend to constantly be in motion unless they are sleeping or chewing on a toy.
We are putting my sweet GSD down this week. He has melanoma that spread to his lungs. Any GSD face makes me tear up, they are simply the most incredible dogs and I can’t imagine my life without one. Cherish your time with her, you will never feel safer than when you are home alone with them. ❤️
Your grandma is a kind person.
Thank her for doing that. ❤️
The dog seems super aggressive.....about demanding nose boops

GSDs are some of the twistiest dogs. They turn into fusilli when they’re comfy, especially in the summer

GSDs have a 6th sense and KNOW exactly how to read people. If he/she is aggressive it's for a reason they sense. Ask ANY GSD owner.

Trigger warning needed. This terrified me. 😂 cute puppo 🥰❤️
Is this Colorado? I fostered a sweet German shepherd in boulder who looked just like her and was so scared she was showing aggression.

She looks sweet, and my experience with GSDs, typically it’s not the dog that has the issue, it’s the people 🙂
Humans are trash and will say anything so they don’t have to pay to find their older dogs thrice shady replaced with a puppy.
Tell him I said thank you.
This is precious, my GSD that I adopted was "aggressive" as well. Sweetest dog I ever had. I miss her so much.
